The Best Breweries and Taprooms in Nashville - Eater Nashville

"Located in The Nations, Harding House Brewing Co. is a brewery and taproom with a major focus on its community and brewing beers with local and seasonal ingredients — a farm to pint concept, if you will. Its menu has recurring selections, as well as seasonal offerings and some experimental sprinkled in the mix. Harding House has a good blend of beer styles, but its saisons are not to be missed. The taproom is cozy for a weeknight pint, but the roll-up garage doors are ready for when it’s party time." - Jesse Valenciana, Kellie Walton

I was served by Shilo - she was the BEST ! Oh my goodness, so kind, so professional! Made me and my friend feel so welcome! The six beers I tried flights for were great (top: deep roots parsnip!) I would 100% come here again. Also there's a screen I would 100% come here for a movie night screening 👀

Unlike many of the bars in Nashville, this one had a very low-key neighborhood vibe. Nice patio with several picnic tables. I loved their dark ale and their pub ale - so smooth and balanced. It’s hard to find these European style emails, since everyone seems to be in love with hops these days. So I was pretty thrilled.

Stop 14 of the “my BIL is in town and I’m starting to have cognitive issues after all the drinking and eating” tour. Nice bright and open space, friendly and attentive staff with some interesting beer choices. I like unique and different but I always believe that a great brewer thinks of all customers and makes some super straight forward traditional styles - 8 of 13 here are fruited or sour or cucumber and even the standard styles had twists. We’ll crafted beers though. Here’s the breakdown: Nice bright and clean place +1 star; great service +1 star; well crafted beers +1 star; seeing another new place with family +1 star. If someone said they were going and extended an invite I’d go back. Too many places with quality beers in the styles I like out there for me to go back just for me.

Google
The unexpected visit of the day. We went to the restaurant Kisser and there we tried their rice beer, which we really liked. Since we were feeling adventurous we decided to go find the brewery that made it. When we arrived it was empty so we were able to enjoy chatting with the bartender (she told me her name but I'm afraid to butcher it) who explained their beers and gave us some samples. My husband and I had a really good time.

Google
Delicious sour beer on tap. When we saw the name we knew we had to stop in since it's our last name haha. Both bartenders were super sweet. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Nashville. If you're local and haven't checked them out, I I highly recommend you do.

Google
Street parking. Medium sized patio and taproom. Bar seating and tables. Pizza oven and occasional food cart. Appropriate, seasonal beer selection. The brews are not overstated and very drinkable which allows you to branch out a bit and try something you normally wouldn't order because you don't want to waste your money. They're all good and excellent representations of their style including many European style offerings.

I LOVE this new spot! Really great quality brews and a cool vibe. Staff is really friendly and the brewmaster, Nate, knows more about beer than anyone I know. 👌From the brews to the hand made bar to the beautiful tables, they have out thought and attention into every detail!

Google
Harding House is perfect for Nashville, craft brewed, and local business. It serves beer locally sourced and they are experiencing. Do t expect too much consistency because they're always down to try a new beer. The owners are very friendly too. I've had great service everytime I've come in. A perfect place for holding parties. I highly recommend.

Yelp
You can find Harding House Brewing Company at 904 51st Ave N, Nashville, TN 37209 in the Nations. This is a somewhat large warehouse looking building, I managed to find parking towards the rear and walked around. The brewery has a large feel (roll-up door) with a taproom bar that's accessible from three sides - there are long end-to-end tables with what looked like plenty of seating. There was a single server so it felt like we were getting all her attention - she was great at describing the beer offered and making suggestions. There were issues with a nearby water main and we didn't want to be too obnoxious, also it was getting pretty late so only tried one beer: Providential Farmhouse Ale 4.3/5 - Dug this a lot, typical Belgian banana nose, additional notes of fruit and strawberry, nice mouthfeel, finishing slightly dry, hint of coriander. As already mentioned, service was pretty terrific - actually she had me at beer - I'm adding this brewery to my rotation when visiting Nashville in the future.

Yelp
This place is great, and the bartender so friendly and kind. The menu is a little small but everything on it is amazing and you won't be disappointed

Yelp
If I lived anywhere within walking distance of Harding House, I would call it my second home. It has such a wonderful neighborhood vibe while still being trendy. There's covered patio seating as well as seating indoors by the large bar area and dogs are allowed in both parts of the brewery. The bar staff was very friendly and allowed for tastings before ordering specific beers. We ended up parking on the street a little north of the brewery! We started with a flight and got the Beloved, Without Borders, 8th Day IPA, Golden Rays, Jimmy Red, and Open Table. They were all pretty good, but our favorite was easily the Without Borders Belgian Honey Ale! The 8th Day was my second favorite and I ended up taking a bottle home to drink afterwards. They have some food they get from other restaurants like pizza and Texas-style sausage and cheese kolaches, but there are plenty of restaurants around for you to try if those don't catch your interest. This should definitely be a stop on your list whether you're visiting Nashville or living in the area!

Yelp
Friendly staff and unique beer flavors. I love how this bar feels inviting to the neighborhood they way it's designed.

Yelp
Cool spot, with a ton of space. Plenty of room to practice social distancing and have a fresh pint. There weren't too many people here when we arrived and we were able to grab a place to sit on the sofa in front of the large screen projector. Staff was friendly and were able to help us make a selection and were happy to let my wife sample the two sours they had on draft. So, where does the name come from: Our name traces its roots back to the nickname given to a house on Harding Place here in Nashville where the owner lived after graduating from college. It is also the place where the inspiration for this brewery originated. The name represents a growing community seeking to affirm the good things in life over a pint. My Wife's Pick: Solace Sour - Fruited 6% ABV: This beer boosts complex flavors featuring local elderberries from Sleepy Bear Farm that add a layer of jammy fruit with subtle woodsy undertones. We then topped it off with local honey from River Cottage Farm. She really liked it, I was actually ok with it as well. Typically I'm not a huge sour fan, but this one was subtle enough that it didn't over power you with sour. My Pick: Black Is Beautiful Stout - Imperial / Double 10.1% ABV: New Heights Brewing Company & Harding House Brewing Company collaboration in support of the movement to bring awareness to the injustices that many people of color face daily. Side Note: 100% of the profits will benefit Gideon's Army United. Really great flavor, you can taste that it has a higher alcohol content for sure! I wouldn't recommend having too many of these in one sitting. Fun place to spend some time while we awaited our reservations at another spot to be ready. Oh, they also have some cool branded merchandise if you want a brewery t-shirt or a souvenir pint glass.

Yelp
I am going to rate Harding House on a couple of different points. One is the place it self and the other is for the beer. I feel this is a fair way to review, but your mileage may vary (and obviously does for some reviewers). I am not going to rate on the food. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, like many micro/nano breweries, there really is no room for a kitchen. If you are really hungry, there are plenty of choices on 51st, including burgers from the butcher next door. I think they have some of their own food choices, but did not try. I was here with friends for the beer. The location and brewery itself. Intimate, nice bar space, tables including out door. Ability to have the entire place open air. This is definitely a highlight. Same with the bar staff, which was the owner (or one of) when we were there. This also means a very knowledgeable bartender. I think the place is very "cute" and open. Some parking in the back, the rest on the street/side street. Typical of 51st (no points were deducted in the writing of this review on this point). :D The beer? Improved since the first time I was there. Planning on grabbing a black is beautiful this weekend to see what their twist is on the collab (Bad Idea in Columbia did the best to date). This will be useless in this review after it is sold out, but it will show me if I have to adjust based on their special runs. BTW, the beer is not awful, as someone previously mentioned, just not as good as our other breweries in town. I will continue to visit and see how they progress, esp. with friends that like hitting the butcher for a burger and then grabbing a brew (likely SG or the new BI location (once they are open again), but this is very convenient to the butcher). And I'm out for now. :P

Yelp
Love this place! We always get Bare Bones Butcher and take our food over to this brewery for beers! They have a great indoor and outdoor area. You can also take your dogs inside here, so that's why it's one of our favorite breweries!!

Yelp
I wish I had come here sooner! The space itself was really cute, perfect for a spring/summer evening drink. The beer was absolutely delicious, which is the most important thing. The hibiscus beer was a stand out for me that I definitely need to get some cans of. I wish they had a few more options overall, but I respect the quality over quantity when it comes to their menu! We also tried a lager that was such a classic. I'm excited to see the new beers they have coming out the next few weeks!

Yelp
This is a relatively-new brewery in The Nations area. There is parking in the back of the building. Very open and spacious. Large bar. Outdoor seating too. We really enjoyed that it was a casual, laid-back atmosphere. No rowdy, drunk crowds. One of the bartenders was actually one of the owners. We tried a flight but had to leave since it was the last stop of the night. We can't wait to go back. And for the non-beer drinkers out there, they do have a cider on tap.

Yelp
Harding House is a great new additions to West Nashville and the Nations neighborhood. The micro brewery has a variety of beers. They have board games, corn hole, and is dog (and baby!) friendly. They have a big screen to watch sports games on. They don't have a kitchen so they have paired up with 312 pizza to offer three items to eat. Would recommend just going next door and grabbing a burger to bare bones.

Yelp
Can't believe I am the first review. Legit brewery! Only a month old. Four beers made by the brewery on tap as well as guest beers. Enjoyed a flight of all four beers and two pints with my husband. Favorite were the Grisette & Rye Pale Ale. Unique beers and local ingredients. Relaxing atmosphere. Very clean and dim lit. The two men working were gems - both owners. Tyler & Nate. Such nice people. Genuinely cared about your experience and enjoyment of the beer. Locals & tourists alike should check this place out. Definitely a great spot to hang out with friends or stop by for date night.

Yelp
Delicious local, seasonal brews and a very friendly, relaxing atmosphere! My husband and I stopped by to try a flight and kill some time before our next activity last weekend and really enjoyed shooting the breeze with the bartender. Definitely worth stopping in and trying what they have on tap! :)

Yelp
Let me stop you right there if you're hungry and head to this bar. We went for trivia night and found out their menu consists of frozen pizzas, bagged chips, and "pretzel sticks". They don't have a real kitchen and make these items in a toaster oven underneath the bar. With that being said, the beer and ciders were great. They were very well staffed and plenty of parking was available. The trivia was fun too. We would have stayed longer but left hungry. I'd go back next time but only for the drinks.

Yelp
Great brewery, great atmosphere, great people. Definitely a great stop in the Nashville area

Yelp
Nice space, garage door was open when we got there, but it was COLD and windy, so they closed it. Friendly, masked staff.

Yelp
Loved hanging out with Nate and learning all about their farm to beer program. Excited to go to their Farm Dinner in partnership with River Cottage Farm. I'll be coming back again for trivia and other events. This place is a gem!

Yelp
My new favorite local hangout. Great atmosphere and amazing beer. They could stand to have a little more food options thay aren't from a toaster. We tried some of the food and it wasn't very good. But who goes to a local craft brewery for food! The beer is what matters. The bartenders were super friendly and the owners are often there. Definitely a must visit location when in Nashville.

Yelp
I've given this spot a try twice over the last couple months. The ambiance is great. The location is perfect. However, the beer is plain not good. Multiple beers during both visits had a buttery diacetyl flavor, to the point of it being un-drinkable. Wishing the best to Harding House because it's great to see small breweries succeed in such a competitive market, but they've got to get the priorities straight first-- which is making good beer.

Alexa A.

Yelp
Sat at the bar for 30 minutes without so much as a glance in our direction. 5 bartenders sitting behind the bar tending one line of people. Ridiculously bad service.

Yelp
Finally checked out this new taproom over the weekend with some friends who were visiting. Great vibe. Super nice and helpful staff. If you're a wheat fan, try Illumination. It won't disappoint.

Yelp
Football Sunday's are hard to find seats at lots of Nashville restaurants. We searched Harding House brewery and found that there were some open seats at this little Gem. It was a perfect spot to spend a cool fall day. This brewery offers indoor and outdoor seating which is perfect. The atmosphere for this bar is perfect, lots of plants and earthy vibe. Also, there are lots of board games available for use, which makes the experience even better. The beer was good, lots of different options. I tried the Peach beer which was sweet but not too sweet, having a very favorable taste. I highly recommending checking out this brewery for a chill low-key hang with lots of beer choices and games. We didn't try any food so I can't comment on the food here.

Yelp
Harding House is one of Nashville's best kept secrets, but it's time for the secret to get out: you must stop in for a drink at this taproom or grab a few croakers to go. You'll be glad you tried this great beer that is only surpassed by the quality of the kind and knowledgeable people who make it.

Travis D.

Yelp
Great place to grab a beer nice ambiance and they consistently have good rotating taps throughout the year along with their flagship beers.

Yelp
Such a beautiful new spot. The Harding House beers are fantastic. The wood on the bar is amazing. Plenty of places to sit and games to play. It will be even more fantastic in the Spring when the large rolling doors are open.

Yelp
Excellent beers. Super cool space. The waitresses were fantastic. Probably one of my favorite breweries in the Nashville area now. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I love beer but had a hard time finding a beer I liked at this location. My buddy did as well. The place does look cool and the staff are friendly.

Yelp
Solid spot-good beer-cool vibes This place was cool to pop in after work to wind down. Music was pretty cool... sounded like local tunes...
