I am going to rate Harding House on a couple of different points. One is the place it self and the other is for the beer. I feel this is a fair way to review, but your mileage may vary (and obviously does for some reviewers).
I am not going to rate on the food. There are a couple of reasons for this. First, like many micro/nano breweries, there really is no room for a kitchen. If you are really hungry, there are plenty of choices on 51st, including burgers from the butcher next door. I think they have some of their own food choices, but did not try. I was here with friends for the beer.
The location and brewery itself. Intimate, nice bar space, tables including out door. Ability to have the entire place open air. This is definitely a highlight. Same with the bar staff, which was the owner (or one of) when we were there. This also means a very knowledgeable bartender. I think the place is very "cute" and open. Some parking in the back, the rest on the street/side street. Typical of 51st (no points were deducted in the writing of this review on this point). :D
The beer? Improved since the first time I was there. Planning on grabbing a black is beautiful this weekend to see what their twist is on the collab (Bad Idea in Columbia did the best to date). This will be useless in this review after it is sold out, but it will show me if I have to adjust based on their special runs. BTW, the beer is not awful, as someone previously mentioned, just not as good as our other breweries in town.
I will continue to visit and see how they progress, esp. with friends that like hitting the butcher for a burger and then grabbing a brew (likely SG or the new BI location (once they are open again), but this is very convenient to the butcher).
And I'm out for now. :P
