The Best Cheap Eats in Ottawa | Eater Montreal

"Ottawa’s Chinatown is actually better for Vietnamese food, but just five minutes over, Harmony does sweet and spicy Cantonese and Szechuan dishes with flair, around the $10 to $12 mark. Southern Chinese classics like chile oil beef or cumin lamb are the go-to items, but the menu is helpfully divided into “traditional Chinese” and “Canadian Chinese” for those in need of General Tao chicken and wonton soup." - Tim Forster

Simply the greatest hidden gem in Ottawa if you’re visiting and staying nearby to the airport. The owner/chef is a wonderful and sincere gentleman who’s so proud of his amazing dishes. Every order and every dish is made to order, so do not expect a quick takeout but I assure you that the wait is definitely worth it! It helps if you are able to read the Chinese menu as the selection is wide and authentic. Otherwise, you could possibly tell the chef what you enjoy and he’ll probably be able to make suggestions. The cumin lamb, honey pork ribs, and especially the mayonnaise shrimp are to die for. The aubergine is also out of this would. I would probably skip the fried noodles though as it wasn’t what I was expecting. I would visit Ottawa just to dine here!

真好吃!!! The best fresh chef-cooked Chinese in town!!!! My best is the quo ba lo! They do the lunch boxes for very friendly prices! Recommend! But the chef works alone, so please be patient with him and understand if he cannot accept walkins even if you want to dine in. :)

I selfishly do not want to leave a review for this amazing place so whenever I want to eat here they have a seat for me… OMG the best Chinese food I have had in a extremely long time, fresh and absolutely delicious! I highly recommend it! There is only seating for 12 (at a squeeze) 3 tables of 4 so if it’s full do not be surprised.

Located in the former Nate's Deli express restaurant, this very small, mostly take out restaurant has excellent food and service. There are two menus, one in english with classic Canadian Chinese food and one in Mandarin with more traditional Chinese food. Learned the chef has 35 yrs of experience and had a restaurant in China Town for a while and open this location six months ago. Great portion sizes and prices. Sadly can't get the smoked meat listed on the menu anymore. All the food was fresh and each dish freshly prepared. Highly recommend!

Walked 20 minutes from my hotel to encourage local business owners only to find it closed. Guy behind the door just made a hand gesture, closed. Call ahead of time since the name online does not match the name of the awning out front. Very weird.

Quaint and cozy Chinese restaurant that has taken over Nate’s Deli. Both dishes we ordered were prepared fresh and delicious. Not sure if any relation to the old Harmony on Gladstone but signage looks similar. Pictured: 地三鲜 (Di San Xian): potato, eggplant, peppers 孜然羊肉 (Zi Ran Yang Rou): Cumin lamb

I seldom in Ottawa. I came here on business yesterday and casually found a China restaurant. I didn't expect it to surprise me, just like Toronto China restaurant.

The food is the best authentic Chinese food with a lot of selections. I used to come 3 days in row. The lunch box is a good choice too.
