Normally when we come to the cafe we find a table and then one person goes up to order. We happened to have a large group so we were lucky enough to sit together by the window. One of the staff came up to us and took our order. I was very grateful to not have to order for everyone. The service was kind and moved as quickly as possible considering the large crowd that was in the cafe. The food was excellent. I had the lavender lemonade and the Teagen sandwich. Of course we stopped at the store and picked up multiple teas which we look forward to tasting. We will back soon.

A lovely tea shop located in Millerton NY. Harney and Sons offers teas for sampling as well as all types of teas packaged whole as well as tea bags inside of decorative tins. Gift items are also readily available. Check out the website site for the hours in which the tea bar is open.

I’ve been coming to the Harney tea room for years, and it is one of my favorite places. Their food and tea drinks are consistently delightful. The shop always has interesting and fun gifts, including the great variety of teas. I was happy to see on my last visit that they have resumed tea tastings!

We only went to the tea shop, which was very nice. Got a bunch of teas that we absolutely love. I really wish there was a decaf section. It became daunting to try and find the decaf's among the crowd.

I’ve been a long time customer and in the past have enjoyed visits to shop. Tasted teas and bought loose leaf tea. Had lunch in the cafe. That was not our experience on this visit. We visited the Millerton store on 6/19/25 about 10:30 am. The area where the loose leaf tea was sold and tasting happens had been blocked off. The person at the cash register said “we only do tastings on the weekend”. It was disappointing but wasn’t anyone going to service purchase of loose leaf tea? “Just tells us what you want and we’ll get it. The tone seemed dismissive. I thought the whole purpose of going there was to see what other teas we might like. They have two walls of tea canisters. In the past suggestions were made you were allowed to see the tea in the canister, smell it. In the past there were pleasant people manning this area “if you like this, you might also like this” type suggestions. There were at least 4 different employees. It seemed like it wasn’t unreasonable to think there might be someone to service the loose tea area for purchases. That was not happening on the morning of June 19. We bought a small can of sachets. Three women had come in by then and convinced them to do a tasting. The girl at the cash register said “ I guess we are doing tasting today”. By then we’d experienced enough unfriendly attitude to sour our visit. I doubt we’ll ever take the time to visit the tea room again. It is more of a destination than a place we normally pass by. We were so bummed out we didn’t even check out the stores in the town as we had during past visits.

Harney and Son's is a great place to visit! Try some tea and learn about all the teas they offer. Staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to let us have a tea tasting on a day they usually don't do them because we traveled from far away. The teas are amazing! We will definitely be back!

Small shop in the middle of the countryside. Sits on a bike route, as I saw a few bikers come in occasionally. Went in the summer time. Had their tea and bought some from their store front. Limited seating inside, but also has outside seating. Id come in the group if it isn't too hot. Merch Storefront staff were very friendly, and knowledgeable. I only had scones, iced tea, and hot tea. 5 star for their seemingly infinite selections of tea and their options. It's like a tea lovers paradise. The benefit of going to this place rather than the store front is you can purchase $~3-5 samplers for the premium and super premium teas (without having to buy the whole tin). Tea tasting wasn't available at the time, dunno if they do tea tastings. Scones with cream and jam were delish. I'd go back and try the food. And more tea, obviously.

!CUSTOMER BE AWARE! I was shocked to find a hard, dense object in my tea that closely resembled a piece of lead or metal. It was deeply unsettling to discover something that looked potentially hazardous in a product meant to be consumed. Even more disturbing was how the company handled it. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation—and they refused to issue a refund. Instead of taking responsibility, they deflected and made it clear they had no interest in making things right. This experience completely destroyed my trust in the brand. I will not be purchasing from them again, and I’ve already warned my friends and family to stay far away. STAY AWAY !
