Harold's Chicken Hyde Park

Great tasting chicken but, damn do the employees have to pay for sauce out of pocket? This chicken is way too dry for the price!! Also, if you ask for more sauce they force you to buy extra in a cup which is not the same and defeats the purpose of adding sauce while the food is hot! I’m giving a 1 star because, this is not how original Harold’s is served!

Bring a good book and a birthday cake because you will be waiting a long time. I wish I could give it a 0 star the food is awful. Absolutely the worst cooked food ever. The taste was old grease poor grade meat and they definitely need new cooks. Completely unacceptable. The fact the food isn’t cheap I feel cheated. I will never go to this location again.

I ordered a fourth white with just lemon pepper I received what looked like a fried rat with a bunch of sauce ,this Harolds has went really down and when you try to call, they don’t pick up the phone. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Normally I can order my food and pick it up without a problem but today when I went to pick up my order, I tried to tell one of the women, looks to be in her 40s, that I made an order and when I said my name, she ignored me and started calling numbers from 62 to 67, and then another woman walks up and said she called in an order, now another woman in the back gets her food and I’m trying to get mine after her but the older woman just calling numbers, still ignoring me. I finally tell the younger woman I ordered through grub hub and I tell her my name like I told the other woman and she gets my food for me. I don’t know what the older lady’s problem was but she needs to get better customer service skills or stop working the register. It doesn’t take a lot just to learn to listen and stop ignoring people especially when they’re not disrespectful. I won’t be coming back here ever again.

Great place if you're looking for cheap meals! They have a special deal $5.25 for 1/2 dark chicken meal with fries, coleslaw and bread (see pic). Available Sunday to Wednesday. They also have chicken liver and gizzards. All prices in the menu includes the tax. Expect to wait 10-20 minutes after ordering your food. It has seating available inside.

Not going to lie I gave up on this Harold’s years ago because the food quality and service had fallen off. But today I decided to give it another chance and ordered 15 wings. The line was long but they were moving people in and out quick. And honestly… they made a comeback. The chicken was fye, fresh, and crunchy just how I like it. I grew up on Harold's in Hyde Park. I haven't been in some time but enjoyed my chicken. It was fried perfectly. It comes with bread and a small cole slaw. Just right for a filling pick me up meal. It's still one of my favorite Harold's.

I purchased 5 wings and they were pretty decent but the fries were hard, dry, and some what soggy. Can't eat chicken from harolds if fries not right. Places since Covid have really went down

I got so many recommendations to stop here on my trip to Chicago! This is a whole in the wall joint with some very good fried chicken! No frills. Chicken is fried to order so expect to wait a few minutes.

This location has fallen off. I ordered in person there on 1/29/24 and was completely disappointed. The food tasted like it was old and re-fried. Adding insult to injury, the "catfish" was not catfish! Instead a disgusting foreign fish these cheap azz, unscrupulous places try to pass off and sale as catfish. Word to the wise - food here is inedible and straight trash.

One of the best Harold's In Chicago! Consistently good delicious food always delivered! You might have to wait a bit but trust me it's worth the wait!

I ordered today via Uber & the food was cold and old! I ordered the catfish/wing combo but received tilapia or something instead. Chicken was bruised and dry. Fish was super thin and old. This is the second time I've received bad food from them and today is the last! Also, when calling to complain, you can never reach a manager because the phone just rings. Horrible customer service!

When I first came to this Harold's I was like never again. I mean I thought this was one of the Harold's that I thought was the bottom of Totem Pole, I spoke to someone in the neighborhood who told me they were surprised because they liked this Harold's so I gave them another a try. Well, I'm glad I did because the chicken is very good especially when you add mild sauce, salt and pepper. I also recommend if you don't want your bread soggy to ask them to add that separate. Their coleslaw is very good most of the time I get an extra. They also have a great special Sunday through Wednesday (1/2 dark for $5) Regularly it is $8.14 the tax is already included. I haven't ordered any other items off the menu but I see many people do so one day I may try something new. Depending on how crowded they are will also affect how long your wait will be so I usually dip out and get a few other things done so I don't feel like I waiting forever...lol I am truly glad I gave them another chance because I love Harold's Chicken. as always... For as long as the wait, the food was not fresh and there was barely any mild sauce on the food (and this is coming from someone who doesn't like my food drenched in sauce). I was very dissatisfied and will not be returning.

Food was delicious but the fries were soggy from the sauce so I wish they would do the fries and chicken separately. The sauces they have are delicious. The sauces they have are also great. Only thing i'd suggest is more organization when it comes to picking up food.

I've been going to this Harold's for multiple years but recently the food started tasting old and the staff started messing up the order. This was the last straw I placed an order which was wrong when I received it I called and informed the staff my order was wrong and I was missing two wings. I spoke with Mary who stated she was the manager and she was the most ignorant person in management I ever spoke with. Instead of apologizing she explained they read what's on the order but I explained to her that they still messed the order up and the food was old. She didn't give me the owner name and she hung up on me because they screwed up. I'm disappointed I've been going there for years and still continued going when they was messing up but this was the last straw. They fell off years ago but you try to support your community but I'm done with this Harold's.

I spent over $100 on food and waited almost an hour for my food. When I went back up to get my food I asked to buy a hot pepper it was 60 cent and I only had a $5 bill. She refused to sell me the pepper. I explained to her I just spent over $100 could you please give it to me or make change. She was rude and still refused. I'll never spend another $1 here!
