"GO HERE: for beautifully prepared Korean food by a quietly hospitable husband and wife team named Richard and Sophia Kang. She cooks, he serves—looking tidy and welcoming in a folded apron—and they do it all at Haroo, a quirky upstairs space at the end of Richmond’s Alexandra Road (nicknamed Food Street for its plethora of restaurants). ORDER THE: delightfully crisp seafood pancake; cheese tteokbokki in targin (Korean rice cakes smothered in a smoky, spicy tomato sauce and topped with cheese); and bibimbap with all the banchan. But for a crowd, the special flower-shaped bibimbap is really great: layers of rice, bulgogi, kimchi, and vegetables are pressed into a flower-shaped mold, which is removed before an elaborate display of garnishes are added on top. THE VIBE IS: down-home Korean grandmother with quaint curtains and apple-print pillows. Diners predominantly include young couples and groups of friends in the know. If there’s music, it’s barely audible; instead, it’s all about the quiet enjoyment of food and friendly service. PRACTICAL STUFF: Open Tuesday to Sunday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Closed Monday. Reservations welcome by phone. —Lindsay Anderson" - Condé Nast

I came here recently again with 2 friends and was sorely disappointed by the food that came out. I love Korean food so I've eaten at almost every restaurant in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby etc. We ordered 4 dishes so I had a pretty good idea of what they offered. We had the bulgogi, tteokbbokki (rice cakes), dakgaelbi, and japchae. The beef was overcooked and it was the tiniest portion I had ever seen. The vegetables take up a majority of the plate and don't leave much room for the meat to shine. The rice cakes were really hard and not soft and chewy. The japchae was ok but tiny. Everything was really salty. They no longer give complimentary congee and you can only refill side dishes once. Each dish was ~$20 so it was quite steep for what we were getting. However, what was even worse was the service. The elderly gentleman (the owner?) gave us our cheque at 9:45PM before we were even done eating and told us they were closing. Understandable so we took care of the bill. At 9:55PM we were still chatting and eating but he took away 2 of our plates even when I told him I wasn't finished. Then, when I requested 2 take out containers he told me I only needed one. Thus, I couldn't bring home the leftover japchae and had to finish it on the spot. Not cool. ~$100 for 3 people def not a good deal Would not recommend this place at all when there's so many other better spots out there. would not come again/10

Google
Great place to eat, pricing is decent and food quality is great. Excellent customer service, and staff is very friendly. It would appear to be a family restaurant and clearly you can tell they care about the food would return for sure!

Google
I dont understand the high review of this place. Maybe they changed ownership? The food is average, portion is small and the price is ridiculous. The beef in the bulgogi hot pot was mushy and the broth was flavourless. There was barely anything in it. There was barely anything in it. They charge $35 that? It doesn't even come with rice. The tteokbokki was $18 for maybe 12 pieces hidden under a big thin chip to mask the small portion. When the main dish isnt the star there's a problem. The worst is the "starred" comments, no birthday cake, 1 refill of side dish max, min $12.50 per person excluding tax and BEVERAGES, prices changes without notice....you mean on the menu it says $10 but you can charge me whatever. Its worth 2 stars because the staff was at least pleasant and the place is clean. I'd say skip this place it's not worth it.

Google
I was very pleased to have found this place. I haven't had Korean food in years since I developed an allergy to MSG. The food was just as good as a place using MSG to enhance the flavours. It is a small place and it fills in very quick.

Google
I'm not sure why I haven't entered my review on this very good Korean restaurant yet. I've been here periodically for the past few years. It's a family-run business so you'll see the same good staff each time. They have good Korean food and it seems quite authentic to me. It also appears a bit healthier than the standard Korean joints. In Richmond, I don't think there is a better choice. It's quite small so make sure you go slightly earlier. Parking will be a hassle if you don't go earlier too. Good service! :)

Google
A good place for a warm dinner in winter. Food was good, I love their pork bone hotpot a lot. The seafood pancake was pretty crispy and tasty. I would give a 4.5 star if possible.

Alan Ling

Google
This is what I am talking about when it comes to Seafood Pancake, Japchae and Rice Cake with Spicy Pepper paste. As authentic as you can get to Korean food in Richmond. There are a lot of pretenders, especially in Richmond, but this establishment has them all beat. Place is a little bit small so reservation highly recommended.

Yelp
I kept hearing about this spot and today I finally got to check it out. Upon walking in I noticed the ventilation is NOT good, especially since it's a pretty tight space. I left smelling like BBQ after not even getting any. - cream corn with cheese: pretty small portions but can't complain, tasted amazing and it was exactly as expected - deep fried spicy chicken with mozza: this was disappointing. The chicken was soggy and the flavors were just not it. Half of it was tteokbokki which is not mentioned at all in the menu. I took a few bites and did not want any more - rose tteokbokki: flavors were good but honestly very minimal toppings and I didn't realize they were made with instant noodles - beef bibimbap: can't ever go wrong with bibimbap, no complaints - free sides bar: there's kimchi, pickled veggies, salad, macaroni salad, and cheerios. I do wish they included some more classic Korean side dishes such as the potato's, beans, tofu, etc. I'm kind of confused on why there is a bin of rainbow colored cheerios. Overall the restaurant visit was pretty smooth, I went at around 8pm Thursday night. It was busy the entire time but seating would open up quite quickly. We ordered on the iPad and food came almost immediately, and they give you a Yakult drink at the end. It was $12 soju night which is a pretty good deal considering it's almost the same price if you buy soju from the liquor store. The food however I found was subpar. Prices are quite reasonable for the portions but I wouldn't mind paying more for better quality. Also I couldn't tell if it's the food but it had me chugging water the whole time.

Yelp
The restaurant is small located on the second floor at the east end of Alexandra St. Most tables are for 2-4 party sizes. Not definitely certain if the food offerings here was what I was looking for. They are not the traditional menu for sure. It might be more of street food vibe like sausages and cheese

Yelp
Looking for late night meals , found this hidden gem along Alexandria in Richmond . Good food , service was great and cute little place .

Yelp
My friends and I came for lunch on a weekend. The place was cozy with Christmas theme. It's not too busy in the 1st hour. Fantastic environment for great conversation for small groups. Service was great. They offered a small can of fruit juice for each of us. At checkout, they offered a bottle of probiotics drink for each of us also. We ordered: - Fried dumplings (pork and cabbage) - Bibimbab (Hot stone pot - chicken) - Grilled black cod - Sweet fried shrimp - Beef tartare - Honey garlic fried chicken and rice cake The wrapper of the dumplings is crispy and thin, not greasy at all. The centre was very flavourful pork and cabbage. Dipping the soya, sesame and onion sauce takes the flavour to the next level. Bimbimbab is an option in lunch special. You have the choice of chicken, beef or pork. It comes with seaweed soup and kimchi. The rice on the bottom of the stone bowl has the rice crispy effect. This is how the rice should be. The spicy and sweet bibimbab sauce in separate bottles will elevate the flavour of the chicken and vegetables on the rice. Sweet fried shrimp was one of the must haves. These big shrimps were fried perfectly. The meat was tender with an al dente texture. It was deshelled with only the tail attached. Each bite had the tasty mayonnaise and special sauce. Very satisfying. The grilled black cod has the rich fat from this deep sea fish. The sweet soya sauce blends very well with the fish. They didn't have grilled saba (mackerel) this time. Beef tartare was one of the dishes I have high expectations on, and it didn't fail me! With a fresh yolk in the middle with sliced garlic surrounding it like a flower on top of this solid ball of beef strips, the presentation was very attractive. After deconstructing and blending the ingredients well, each bite was exquisite. The texture of the beef tells me how fresh it was. There was no chewy tendons. We ordered spicy but I couldn't taste the spiciness. The raw garlic slices were spicier. The honey garlic fried chicken and rice cake was a nice dish for late night supper or anytime when you feel hungry. Very delicious and anyone can easily pop one after another in their mouth. I would try other dishes for sure. The pros is that they have free parking within this strip mall. They're located on the 2nd level (right next to the elevator). The cons is that they only accept cash or debit.

Yelp
Food, service, ambiance all exceeded my expectations. Icing on the cake was the manager or it was probably Mr. Bro was so chill and had a great funny vibe.

Yelp
One of the best Korean restaurants in town. Food is great especially the spareribs! The meat is so tender and juicy. We ordered a lot of food but it's all tasty. The service is excellent, they also give a free yogurt drink after the meal. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Amazing flavours in every dish. From a simple cheese corn to the bowls. Don't take a pass on this bistro. Awesome flavour.

Yelp
This place is located on the second level of the same plaza as Deer Garden noodle place. It's not very obvious, but it's definitely a hidden gem in Richmond. It has a lot of dishes that are perfect for sharing. The rolled omelet with cheese is nicely fried and rolled. The cheese in the egg made a great addition to the omelet. The sweet and sour deep fried pork was fried with fresh oil, you can tell by the color of the batter, adding the sweet and sour soup on the top, made it very delicious. The traditional fried glass noodle was nicely done with lots of veggies. I really enjoyed the beef tare tare. The beef was cut into thin slices, fresh and not chewy. You can also choose the sauce to make it either spicy or regular. The fish tofu pot had lots of fish tofu and regular tofu. They also give you a small stove to cook and keep the soup warm. Rice cake and sausage skewer was like a snack, brushed with some sweet sauce. When we first sat down closer to the entrance, I was feeling cold without my jacket. After sitting at a different table, it got better but still chilly. I realized that they might have kept the place cool for some reason. Other than that, the service was pretty fast, and staff are friendly. If you and your friends are into homemade family style Korean dishes, this would be a good place to go.

Yelp
Super awesome service. We ordered the wrong ramen and they changed it for us and gave us extra yogurt drink dessert for the kids. The shrimp was really good and the ramen and A+ beef was good!

Peter H.

Yelp
One of the Best Korean Restaurants in Richmond for sure! Lunch sets are the best value for what you can get! Go with family or friends and order different ones to get the great variety choices!

Joy H.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place and the reviews are so high so not quite sure what happened here. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things but it didn't hit the Korean foodie spot. The restaurant was not crowded so that may have been a warning sign to start. It's small, not necessarily the cleanest and the food was meh. We got the lunch specials: Bibimbap (very bland even with the sauce) + seaweed soup (tasty but all fatty pork) Seafood Ramen (my little one loves ramen but said it's got a weird flavor and hardly touched it) + DIY rice ball (fun for the kids but very bland) Jjajjang Noodles (noodles were very mush and almost sticky?? OK in flavor) + sweet + sour pork (meh) Spicy buckwheat noodles (probably best dish of the day) + grilled spareribs

Yelp
Recently enjoyed a feast of Korean food here & everything was DELICIOUS. We enjoyed everything so much ordered things twice! My top 3 favourites were the Napa wraps with pork belly, 51cm beef tartare sushi, and the shrimp.   KIMCHI FRIED RICE WITH CHEESE x 2 ($16.25 CAD each) If you enjoy spicy food, this is a great staple dish! If you can't handle the heat, we recommend the one with cheese to help reduce the spiciness. Personally for me, I don't eat spicy food very often so this was a struggle for me to eat but the cheese did help cut the spiciness.   NAPA WRAPS WITH PORK BELLY (Full $27.55 CAD / Half $22.55 CAD) Their pork belly was so good that we ordered this dish twice! Flavourful and tender. Personally, I enjoy when there is lettuce with grilled pork belly as it gives a nice refreshing contrast to the fat from the pork belly. 51CM BEEF TARTARE SUSHI x2 ($25.35 CAD each) Great flavours and I liked that they used the perfect amount of sesame oil for this dish. It's the first thing you taste, and progressively as you chew, you can taste the other flavours. I normally don't eat raw meat as well, but really enjoyed this dish and was advocating for another order, haha.   SPICY FRIED CHICKEN WITH CHEESE (Full $33.45 CAD / Half $24.55 CAD) KFC topped with cheese. What could be better than that?! Another dish I would recommend and would probably order again if I wasn't full, haha! Again, the spiciness might be a bit much for someone who does not eat spicy food, but the cheese is a lifesaver.   SPICY RICE CAKE AND RAMEN NOODLE WITH CHEESE (Full $21.25 CAD / Half $16.25 CAD) THE CHEESE PULLLLL! Our family loves tteokbokki and it was great to have something similar to what we make at home, available to enjoy here. If you have to pick, I would 100000% recommend the one with the ramen noodles over the one without.   DEEP-FRIED SHIMP IN CREAM SAUCE (Full $22.75 CAD / Half $18.25 CAD) Crowd favourite! We were going to order another seafood pancake but decided to try something else on the menu and I am are SO GLAD we ordered these shrimps because it was a perfect balance between sweet and salty. There also was not too much mayo which was great. Sometimes when there's too much mayo, it takes away from it being enjoyable.   SEAFOOD PANCAKE ($13.75 CAD) They seem to have coated their pancake with panko and I wasn't mad at it! It was my first time trying a pancake coated in panko and I really enjoyed the flavour and extra crunch. I'm more of a salty over sweets person for treats, so this catered to my love for salty and crunchy.   GRILLED SPARERIBS (Full $33.05 CAD / Half $24.05 CAD) Nicely grilled. Again, I think that we would have probably ordered this again if we weren't so full! Nice and light marinade and a good dish if you want to cut through all the oil and cheese dishes.   Overall, I loved my meal here and can't wait to come again with my friends! Be sure to make a reso beforehand because there was a lineup out the door! PS: they also gave us a free mini yogurt drink at the end of our meal before we left! Nice treat to drink as you leave feeling satisfied.

Yelp
A mandatory stop on my way to Whistler bike park. The food is amazing. Blonde Ttopokki (sp?) is unreal! Bimimbap is also super.

Yelp
ATTENTION!!!!!! Congrats to Mr. Bro Korean Bistro & Izakaya for taking the fattest L in 2022. Coming has was extremely disappointing because I barely give a 1 star rating, but this place deserves it all. First of all, it took us 1.5 hour to queue for the table when there were 4 only same size party in front of us. I was checking why the queue doesn't move, so I went to the bathroom whilst checking what happened actually in the restaurant. There were some empty tables, but none of the staff had the urge to fill the empty tables, and that is why it took us almost 2 hours just to queue in this restaurant. Secondly, hygiene in the restaurant is very questionable. We got an oily table and underneath of the table is filled with food leftovers. If these issues dont get resolved, VCH would definitely come soon just letting you know. Toilet is also questionable. Toilet literally doesnt meet the requirement with the BCBC guidelines as well as City of Richmond guidelines. Literally the bathroom is so small that they have to scraped over some parts of the door so that it can close properly from getting stopped by the sink. Third, service is also very questionable. We got someone else's order on our table. There were a lot of miscommunications and dropped of appliances inside the restaurant. Honestly, there are just a lot of problems with the service. Food is just very mid and to pay $33pp is really not worth it. Some mid tier for that amount of price i would rather go to much better korean places. Presentation of food is bad literally made like its for supermarket food literally i could make it like that at home. Lastly, it really disappoints me how DISHONEST CANADIANS are. This really triggered me just for 1.5% of revenue literally you have to be dishonest? As much as i dislike the european and the british culture, but they are always honest. This is not the first time canadian restaurants have been dishonest with me. WHAT IS THIS TOXIC CULTURE? Check my last photo literally i could have used my neo cc to get 3% cashback and i confirmed with neo that the restaurant is still in partnership so i was able to use my neo cc in the restaurant, but they told me only debit or cash allowed. This is some $30pp restaurant and you told us that you dont accept cc? What bs is that?? Put the sign in front of the restaurant next time if only accept debit or cash. BUT honestly dont be dishonest if you dont accept cc payment. STOP BEING TOXIC. For those who read this, dont bother coming to dishonest restaurant with no etiquette. If they ask you to pay with debit or cash, just tap your cc. Be immoral and we'll treat you the same. Go have some RESPECTS!!! NOT RECOMMENDED

Yelp
We visited last July and were looking forward to it as this was the third time we attempted; the first time, they only accepted take-outs, and the second was more than 30 mins wait. We were astonished with the menu as theirs a lot to choose from; we ended up ordering their signature stone grill beef rib, black bean noodles, which we both craved, spicy braised chicken with ramen, spicy chicken with cheese and vegetable salad. Their vegetable salad was refreshing; it was my first time tasting that kind of sauce it took me a while to figure out it was apple taste, sweet yet refreshing enough to balance the salty and oily taste of some foods. The Jajangmyeon, or black bean noodles, tasted okay with a significant amount of sauce. Stone grilled beef rib, meat was fresh, it's just for some reason, the dipping sauce is not our kind of taste. Braised spicy chicken soup was indeed spicy but not flavourful. Spicy chicken with cheese was spicy and sweet and the same time. Overall, we think that most of their dishes were quite sweet, which is not our liking; maybe for others, it was delicious, but it was just not our type of taste. The price, it's somewhat pricy, so make sure to have at least $25+ per person, depending on your orders. I still recommend this place to those looking for Korean restaurants, as they have an overwhelming menu; make sure to be there before 5 pm to get a table.

Yelp
Small Korean restaurant on the second floor of a plaza along Alexandra Rd. This location used to be a different Korean restaurant before. Was very busy on a Friday evening with multiple parties waiting for tables, and there were still people waiting for our table when we left after 8pm. Looks like a trendy place for the younger Asian crowd. The menu has a mix of small izakaya items and also larger dishes. Got the pork belly napa (looked more like romaine lettuce?) wraps, and that was pretty good. The seafood pancake was ok. It was a small (6 inches across), and had breaded coating which was different than other Korean seafood pancakes I've had. Thought it could have used more seasoning even after pouring on the sauce. The grilled black cod was alright. It was two pieces of cheek or collar meat, so there were plenty of spines. The best item of the meal was the cold noodles. The cold noodles with the spicy sauce was really refreshing, and portions were pretty good. Overall I enjoyed the meal. Might come back to try some of the other items.

Yelp
Fun and lively izakaya place (bar style) where you sit on stools in a dimly lit restaurant. Parking available. My order: Spicy Sausage Stew $28 (w/ Extra Ramen): Decent flavours and spiciness. Mediocre in terms of amount of toppings (eg. Spam, sausage etc.), and a bit on the small side. Probably best for a snack rather than a full meal for 2 people. Napa Wraps w/ Pork (Half) $18: fatty, juicy, and flavourful. Comes with some pickled vegis & kimchi on the side which pairs nicely with the meat. Bonus: free cold mini yogurt drinks after the meal, which is a great treat especially after a hot & spicy meal.

Yelp
I have tried take out once for the Rabokki. It was super nice!! This time come for dine in, we tried Rabokki, rolled egg, sausage and rice cake.... and last but not least! This 51cm beef tartare sushi!! I can tell this beef tartare surprise me! As they are totally not taste like eating beef! The beef tartare marinated with seasame oil flavour with tender texture. The sausage and rice cake also full of garlic smell which I totally love it! It's perfect for friends gathering and I will definitely come back and refer my friends to come! :)

Anne K.

Yelp
Came here with a group of friends because I saw great reviews. The food looks very appetizing and I love their plating. But for the portion and how it tastes, it seems a bit over priced. The broth of the soup along with the bossam was on the sweeter end which we did not like. Would give it 3 stars but their kimchi fried rice was so flavorful and cheesy that this one dish alone added an extra star. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a good vibe but because of how the tables were set up, it felt like a very tight/uncomfortable space. Another downside was that we had to flag the employee down a little to get our order started/to order more (since the portion were so small) because they never really checked up on us. Not sure if it was worth the hour long wait to get in.

Rency L.

Yelp
A stylish and hip Korean restaurant with very cozy seating (almost too cozy because I think the AC was broken). Ventured to Mr.Bro with a friend after a long day of work. We ordered the Bulgogi Hotpot (small), Chicken Karaage, and Rice Cake Skewers. Food - Bulgogi Hotpot: please drink the soup first - it's bursting with umami flavours from the bulgogi. The bulgogi hotpot had tofu, dumplings, green veggies, and obviously, beef. - Chicken Karaage: one of the best chicken karaage I've ever had. Say goodbye to chicken karaage that's dry, stone hard, and way too chewy. I don't know how Mr.Bro does it, but this chicken is tender, juicy, crispy - everything you want and more. - Rice Cake Skewers: very yummy, but I think it would've been better if it was crispier. Portion: If you're someone who tends to over order (like I always do), this portion was perfect for two people. We wanted to order the teriyaki rice bowl too but thankfully we did not because that would not have ended well. Price: $23-25 for two people. Overall great place, but it gets quite busy in the evening so I would recommend going when it opens for dinner at 5:00 pm. Again, I think the AC was broken and I almost turned into a melted milk ball so either go when their AC is on full blast or bear the heat and sweat it out.

Yelp
Mr. Bro Korean Bistro is hidden on the 2nd floor on Alexandra Road. It's 2 doors down from Deer Garden. Parking on both 1st and 2nd floor can be hard to find if you come during peak meal times. They had renovated the restaurant from the previous Korean premise. It now looks quite trendy, with benches, stools and wall arts that encourage you to drink! =) We went on Saturday during lunch and there was only one server. We ordered off the lunch special menu: 1) Grilled spareribs and spicy Korean cold noodles. The cold noodles came and it was my first time trying. They were spicy, flavorful and extremely refreshing. However, it came with only half an egg and a few sliced cucumbers. The portion of the grilled spareribs that came was SO tiny, although it was extremely flavorful and yummy. For almost $17 pre-tax, I didn't think this was worth the price. Basically a bowl of noodles with pretty much nothing in them and a few bites of pork cost $17. Yes, they also came with 1 tiny little dish of kimchi (very good) and salad; however, in other K-restaurants, these came with every meal, free of charge and most of the times you'd get to refill them. Therefore, I didn't think the $17 should have included these two tiny side dishes. 2)Mr. Bro house special - beef - We got a small plate of bulgogi, rice, seaweed soup and 6 tiny portions of "side dishes". For almost $14, I think this was way too expensive. As mentioned earlier, most of the times side dishes came for free at other restaurants, so I would not have even considered the kimchi and salad within this $14 price tag. Also, one of the side dishes, the fried dumplings, was cold. I had really high expectations due to the glowing reviews on Yelp and because Korean food is one of my favorite cuisines. My ratings are always based on my overall experience and feelings, not just food per se. While the food was definitely yummy and extremely flavorful, I do not think the price tags justified the portions we received.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place when hubby and I happened to be in Richmond in the afternoon. It is located on the second floor of a complex near Lansdowne. Since we came in after the lunch rush, we were seated immediately. Menu is quite extensive and pricing was reasonable. We ordered the following: black cod, sweet and sour chicken (1/2 order) and kimchi fried rice plus a side of rice. All our orders were tasty and portions were just right. The owner/manager forgot to punch in my bowl of rice so he comped it -- thank you! Also, a nice touch was that their TVs are in sync with their speakers which was great! It annoys me so much in other restaurants that they play Kpop music different from the one showing on their TV screens. Lastly, the hubby and I enjoyed the free drink (that tastes like yakult) they give with your bill. Do note that you'll smell like a bbq grill after leaving this place.

Galina G.

Yelp
Grilled pork, bimbimbap, and Trevor I was fab. Real nice touch w cheese corn and yogurt drink compl.cute little place got us in right away.

Yelp
The food are extremely tasty and delicious here. The staff gave me a complimentary bday soup (seaweed soup) as they know we were celebrating my bday. Great service and friendly staff. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Finally back on keto, and one of the places we went to is this place. We had a variety at the table, I had the pork belly and black cod, but my fam definitely enjoyed the rest of the dishes and gave me their feedback. * Black cod ($10.45) ~ this was delicious, despite the portion being a bite small, it's the same in many places. I love the Smokey fragrant from the cod and it's very well flavoured. As I was going back into keto I had a little bit of the meat inside not too much as the exterior has a sweet glaze. * Napa with pork ($26.75) ~ now this is keto and the bomb! Look at how good it looks. Now imagine it tasting 10000X better! Comes with side of lettuce leaf. The pork was delicious and nicely cooked. Very well seasoned and super tasty! * Family review for the following: * Cheesy corn ($7.95) ~ super cheesy and the corn was sweet, good amount of corn and cheese ratio. * C.S.R.C (full order $17.75) ~ this is a classic must have here it's their famous ramen, tteokbokki, fish cake combo. Super nice kick and very delicious flavours. * Bibimbap bulgogi beef ($13.75) ~ love how you can mix it yourself with a variety of sauces. The flavours are so good as you can cater it to your own pallet! * 10/10 ~ everything was delicious, we loved every single dish ordered. Good flavours. * 10/10 ~ 3 people and we had a lot left overs! Super good variety and they give yogurt drink at the end for free! Also service is amazing. Total bill before tip: $76.28. * 6.5/10 ~ they had plexiglass barrier all over, but sat at the table where everyone was talking in, and the walkway from door in is very slim. Temperature check and contact info gathered.

Yelp
Ventured out into the snowy weather to catch the lunch special at Mr Bro Korean Bistro & Izakaya. It was a quiet lunchtime but the atmosphere was filled with chill music and music videos playing on the TV, as I relaxed in their booth seating. I ordered the Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice ($13.75) which also came with a side of kimchi, seaweed soup and salad. The Seaweed Soup was full of soft, seaweed and the broth was subtle and not overpowered so it let the seaweed flavours play through. The Salad had fresh lettuce and a sweet, pureed dressing, which played with the apple and orange slices nicely. When the Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice came, it was piping hot and had a beautifully fried sunnyside egg on top. I was interested to see where the cheese pull could happen, and as I ate I realized there was a generous layer of cheese throughout the fried rice. With every bite, you got a cheese pull going up and up! The kimchi fried rice was good, as expected but the gooey mozzarella cheese added such a new sensation and taste - it was so rich and delicious! I only finished half because the cheese made it quite heavy - that's how much cheese you can expect - they definitely did not skimp on that! Service was really friendly and joyful. Overall, a great, trendy Korean spot, which I'll definitely come back to enjoy more Korean favourites like bibimbap, buckwheat noodles, korean soups, bbq meats and more. Cash and Debit Only. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor - same as the Deer Garden in this complex.

Yelp
This place is run by the OWNERS, you can just tell they care a lot about this restaurant. Very COZY atmosphere. The SERVICE here is TOP NOTCH. My girlfriend dropped her chopstick and the owner came with new ones without us asking in literally 3 SECONDS. ALSO, the FOOD was very very good. I never write reviews, unless i feel they deserve it. 5 Stars from me.

Yelp
Came around 10pm, it was alright, nothing special. Restaurant was fairly empty, also pretty cold (it was a cold night to be fair ) Had the chicken garage, which is quite dry and bland on its own. However it does come with a sauce, which you most definitely will be dipping or pouring all over the chicken lol. The kimchi fried rice was pretty good. Good texture to rice, not too dry, good kimchi flavor, not too spicy, very nice subtle flavor. The ribs were good.. tender, had flavor to them, though for price point and amount, didn't think they were that amazing. Little disappointed this Korean restaurant didnt have the traditional sides that normally come with the food. Eg potatoes, daikon, there was kimchi, but we had to ask for it.

Yelp
To start, let me just say that I don't eat a lot of Korean cuisine often. However, I may start getting more Korean cuisine, because I loved my lunch at Mr. Bro so, so, so much. Mr. Bro is owned by two brothers who wanted to showcase authentic Korean cuisine but with a modern take and I have to say, they hit the head on the nail here. I loved everything we tried! We split four different dishes: + Cheesy kimchi fried rice + Half order of chicken garage (yes, it's garage and not karagge) + Fried chicken cutlets + Beef short ribs (FEAST Signature Dish) Wow. Everything was delicious and packed with spices and flavour. My favourite had to be the cheesy kimchi fried rice and the fried chicken cutlets. The cheese on the kimichi fried rice was generous and I found the kimchi flavouring to be just right. I found the chicken dishes to be both well seasoned and flavourful. I don't eat a lot of beef, but I really enjoyed the short ribs. The dipping sauce it came with also added an extra boost of flavour. They served us little yogurt drinks after we paid, which brought me right back to my childhood! My parents used to get us similar drinks called Yakult and my brother and I would drink this as kids. There's plenty of free parking right in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is located in the upper parking lot, so make sure to drive all the way to the top. I loved this spot so much that I immediately told my family about it and made the executive decision that we all need to come back here soon. I'm thankful to the Feast Asian Dining Festival for introducing me to all these amazing Asian cuisine joints right in my backyard!

Yelp
Nice little Korean tapas place, a decent meal or great drunk food! It's not very big though so it might be hard to get a table during peak times. We came here for an early dinner and ordered the following: - Fried Chicken Skins - Napa Wrap - Spicy Korean Cold Noodles (w/ Beef Tartare) - Dish with ramen, tteokbokki (rice cakes), fish cakes and cheese All of these dishes were satisfying eats, and were really good if you frame your expectations right. Food came out quick and was priced reasonably, so I'd be excited to come back after a night out as it seems perfect for that. Our beer glasses were not washed properly... so we just drank out of the bottles though I'm sure our server would have replaced them if we'd asked. All other cutlery seemed to be fine though. They have free parking though it could get filled up on a busy night. Is this one if the best Korean places in the city? Probably not, but as a tapas place I really can't complain and for the price it's definitely worth it. It honestly would fit right into one of the bigger K-Towns in places like LA/NYC/Toronto. And I consider that high praise, since Vancouver's Korean food scene us not super big.

Yelp
Cheesy Kimchi Rice is to die for; great place with excellent food. Everyone in our group loved their picks. Wish I was closer I would come here all the time

Yelp
I LOOOOVED their food and the owners and the service! It's a new family and friends run place. We saw one of the owners and his wife do the serving and prepping, the other owner was in the kitchen I believe. The place was full when we came in around 10:30pm but the team managed such a great job at juggling everything . We loved the fact that they close late, loved the food we had, and had a lovely chat with one of the owners. We also loved how they served complimentary little Korean version of yakult yoghurts at the end of the meals. The best authentic Korean food we've had in Vancouver and Richmond combined! Try their jajangmen! And the cheese kimchi rice!

Yelp
All I can say is everything is Great! Great Food. Great Customer service. Great Happy Hour Menu. Beef bibimbap is really good. The Sweet and Sour Chicken is crunchy and delicious, you should try it. Their sauces are awesome. The soy sauce is really good. You should come and eat here! We are just visiting Vancouver and we're glad that we tried this place.

Yelp
I would say the Sweet and Sour chicken was really top notch. They added some cranberries and seeds to the chicken so it actually had both flavors nicely blended in. The chicken was crispy outside and juice inside. I really loved this dish and don't forget to order it spicy. The beef udon was quite flavorful too. The seaweed and white sesame definitely added a bit of different hint to the flavor. The udon was just cooked the right softness and not too saggy. The spicy rice cake was a safe pick. I guess it's quite hard to make a bad rice cake. This dish was okay. The atmosphere of the restaurant really has that bistro feeling of a Korean place. Would love to go back to try their bbq menu with some drinks. Overall, I quite enjoyed my dine here. The owner (one of the bros) was really nice as well.

Yelp
I went to Mr Bro with a friend and we shared 3 things: a small Kimchi hotpot (comes with 1 bowl of rice), sausage and ricecake skewers, and chicken garage. The kimchi hotpot came with dumplings, pork, enoki mushrooms, tofu, and ricecake. We asked for it to be less spicy, and it was perfect for us. It had a little bit of heat, some sourness from the kimchi, and really flavorful when you mix the soup with rice. The ricecakes on the skewers were lightly fried and the sausages were grilled. It was great to share because the order came with 4 skewers. My favourite would be the chicken garage. It came with a side of sweet and spicy sauce. The chicken was fried in a very light batter and was quite juicy on the inside. My only complaint is that the air conditioning was very cold. The longer we sat there, the more cold we felt. At one point, I had to put on my winter jacket while eating. Because it was so cold, it also cooled down the food very quickly.

Yelp
Short beef ribs 7.5/10 half order It was yummy and had a decent amount of meat but it wasn't mind blowing Came with sauce and lettuce Chicken karrage half order 8/10 It was juicy but the seasoning was a little dry. Would have appreciated if it was a bigger portion but it was definitely standard amount Japchae 9/10 half order I highly enjoyed it. The noodles were bouncy and had a lot of flavour. It had a decent portion but minimal meat. I'd definitely go back but for happy hour or lunch to try more things! Seems like a great atmosphere to grab drinks with a friend and eat korean style food. They give a complimentary yoghurt drink at the end of the meal which I found adorable. Parking in the plaza can be rough (tight)but there is decent paid parking available (and Landsdowne nearby)

Yelp
we ended up here as a back-up plan and i must say...i was very impressed. ended trying the lunch beef bulgogi special on a hotplate...think of it as a korean bento box. oh my, i was very satisfied with what i got. several side dishes with even a bit of fried pork chop added too. the beef was very tender and marinated very well in sweet soy. came with a bowl of rice and seaweed soup - which i wasnt a fan of bec it came cold and the seaweeds were not finely chopped and tasted mushy. still flavourful though... my friend tried the kimchi fried rice with cheese...it tasted sooo good and cheesy with just the right amount of kick. my only complaint was no meat of any kind was mixed in. texture and flavours could've been enhanced with some chopped meat in .there we also ordered the seafood pancake. it came hot and tasted really fresh. the egg base was perfectly cooked..the edges were a bit crunchy giving extra flavour and texture. inside, it was packed with small shrimps and seasoned to perfection. oh yeah...i would repeat again for sure! i wanna try the other items on the menu. service was just outstanding here. after the meal, you are given a free cold yogurt drink. cheers! happy eating!

Yelp
Haven't been to this place since it took over from the old Korean place. The decor changed quite a bit but it's a cute, trendy restaurant. We came here for lunch. I like the selection and lunch combos that they have. We ordered a cheese kimchi fried rice and half order of bossam. The staff is friendly and we got to the restaurant just before the wave of people come in for lunch. The food is good and I especially like their kimchi. The bossam has a nice smoke flavor. I will definitely come back for their happy hour or late night.

Yelp
On to my second stop with the Feast: Asian Dining Festival, Mr. and I decided to try out an authentic Korean restaurant next to Deer Garden on Alexandra Road - Mr. Bro Korean Bistro & Izakaya. From now until November 18, you can enjoy a set for two for just $48. Keep reading to see what it includes! I always walk past Mr. Bro Korean Bistro & Izakaya, but I never tried it until now. It is an authentic Korean restaurant that offers a wide selection of family-style dishes. It also offers Korean-style hotpots for sharing. During the Feast Festival, they are offering a $48 special set for two people. The $48 set menu includes a house green salad, sweet & sour chicken, royal pan-fried glass noodles, grilled spareribs, and two choices of drinks. To start off the night, we chose Grape Bong Bong and Pear Juice as our drinks. They arrived in mini cans, and we love how they have bits of pulps and are not too sweet. The House Green Salad has apple slices, lettuce, and orange slices, along with a unique banana dressing. I didn't know it was banana dressing until reading the menu. The hint of sweetness of the dressing balances the citrus fruits in the salad. The Royal Pan-Fried Glass Noodles (or Japchae) has beef slices and mushrooms in it. It tastes delicious, but nothing too special about it. The Sweet & Sour Chicken is my favorite dish of the night. It has pan-fried rice cakes and dried cranberries as garnish. Though the batter is slightly soggy, the flavor of the sweet & sour chicken is spot on. The addition of the rice cakes gives a huge contrast of texture in the dish! I would definitely come back for this dish. Last but not least is featuring the signature Grilled Spareribs. It is served on a sizzling plate, but Mr. was disappointed in how the dish isn't sizzling when it arrives. Anyway, the spareribs are boneless, tender, and flavorful, but it is on a dried side. I think it would taste delicious when eating it with a bowl of steamed rice. *** Overall Impression *** Alexandra Road is filled with hidden gems. After this dining experience, I am going to include Mr. Bro Korean Bistro & Izakaya on my to-go list. It gets packed around 7 pm, so make sure to go early to prevent line ups. This set is worth the price and definitely feeds two people. I would recommend the set to people who have never been here before. Otherwise, you can order individual dishes or other combos on the menu, which I think they are also reasonably priced. Taste : 4/5 * Service: 4/5 * Ambiance: 4/5 * Quality-Price: 4/5

Yelp
When you first enter the restaurant, you're greeted by one of the owners and you feel welcomed. Came in for lunch and people slowly filled the restaurant. We had the cheese kimchi fried rice, chicken garage, omelette, and seafood soup. Everything was very flavourful. I liked the small pieces of fruit on the side of each dish. I also really liked the small yogurt drink they give when you ask for the bill - a great way to top off a great meal. Overall, I enjoyed my meal at this hole-in-the-wall and will be back if I'm in the area!

Yelp
Enjoy the foods. We order sticky rice with cheese. Good and spicy. The seafood pancake is slightly different from traditional one. It has some bread crumbs, which adds another layer of crispness. Cold noodle is very spicy and tasty. Will definitely come again.

Yelp
Our first time going and it was more than we could have expected. Everything we ordered tasted good. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive. Laid back atmosphere. We'll definitely go back again.

Yelp
Decent but unfortunately the food was missing a wow factor. I got the sausage egg roll and the pork belly (samgyeopsal). The samgyeopsal came with lettuce and salt, ssamjang, and a sweet chili sauce to dip. The sauces were great - super flavourful. The pork belly was 90% fat and the lean pieces were slightly too tough. The egg roll could be slightly fluffier but it wasn't bad and has that home cooked taste. The sausage is more like the hot dog kind of sausage which I'm personally not a fan of. Portions are okay, perhaps on the smaller side for the meat. Came to around $40 for 2.

Yelp
Disclaimer: We ordered on Uber Eats. Judging from the menu, I think this restaurant is more suited as a place for a group where everyone can order smaller plates to share and enjoy a beer over food. The food gave off a more fusion vibe than traditional Korean dishes. First off, we were quite disappointed that our order did not come with any side dishes (banchan). My bf complained that the cheese kimchi fried was very basic and not worth the price. It had a fried egg, kimchi, rice, and cheese. He thought taste was subpar. The beef tofu stew had a lot of radishes though I would have appreciated more tofu. It was spicy and had decent flavor. However, I think the stew lacked a depth of flavour - the flavours weren't well developed. The beef bulgogi was the tastiest of the three dishes. It had potato noodles, mushrooms, and a few rice cakes. It was on the salty side, but paired perfectly with a bowl of hot rice. Overall, I think this restaurant is worth trying if you are coming with a group - it feels more like a "happy hour" type place. The food (at least the ones we ordered) fell flat.

Yelp
Wasn't sure what to expect walking in but service was fast and food was really really good. Loved the sweet and spicy chicken with mozzarella! Just enough heat to make our noses run but not so much that the flavor is overwhelmed.

Yelp
This is a Korean own spot and feels quite authentic. The food is what you expect and goes well with a drink. It is great for Friday evening with your bubble. The food tastes great and is perfect sharing. I do wish the portion were a bit bigger.

Yelp
When we found out some restaurants were slowly opening, my bf and I got excited because we always wanted to try this place so we decided to come here for dinner one day. Unfortunately, they said they will take us if we could finish in 45 minutes since they had a few reservations that were made. We decided to come back next time which we did on one of the Saturdays. On each table, they had hand sanitizers which was great especially during this pandemic. Staff were super friendly and place was very cozy. Korean Rice Balls: This was our first time in making our own rice balls. It was a bowl of rice with spam, green onions, pickled radish, seaweed and finely minced carrots. These were very delicious. They were light and the rice had a nice consistency. (5/5) Spicy Braised Mackerel: This smelled and looked amazing. The fish was delicate and tasty, and it was covered in this sauce which was good at first but after awhile, it was a bit overwhelming. The sauce was way too salty. (3/5) Napa Wrap + Pork Belly: This was delicious!!! The pork belly was served with sliced nappa cabbage, pickled radish, spicy radish salad, gochujang and romaine lettuce. The pork belly was tender and cooked perfectly. Everything paired really well together. The only let down was that you only get 5 thin slices of lettuce which wasn't enough for the amount of pork belly you get, and there are no refills on the lettuce. If you want more lettuce, it cost an extra $2.00 or something which was crazy! (4.5/5) Overall, very delicious food and great service. We would definitely be coming back here! Another bonus is that we only lived 10 minutes away!

Yelp
Came here for some late night eats. The interior has a relaxed upbeat younger vibe to it. It's dimly lit. The menu is a wide selection of both Korean some Japanese izakaya faves. We ordered a bunch of items. Saba- cooked mackerel was delish, seafood Paejon good but not much seafood filling, short rib was tasty, bibimbap your typical serving no disappointment here. The fried squid was a huge dinner plate sized piece cut up in front of you like they do at a Taiwanese night market. Kimchi soup was good. They also brought us a Dakangang chicken on the house at the end (probably wrong ordered from another table). Each dish came with a different sauce to compliment. The three of us left with full tummy's and feeling content. Very good serving size and quality. Parking can be a bit on an issue upstairs especially if the other places are hoppin on a weekend. Great eats thanks!

Yelp
December, 9, 2019 I saw a lot of good reviews for this place. Why not give it a try?! It was not pack around 1pm. Their music was extremely noisy, hard to chat. No hostess or services while we walked in the restaurant. I need to go all the way to the till to ask for table. The waitress was busy playing with her phone behind the till. 3 of us had tried... Cheese kimichi fried rice lunch combo.. they put a lot of cheese inside the kimichi rice, it tasty, but hard to find chopped kimichi inside. They put fried eggs on rice.. this is the only dish, that we like from whole meal. But the portion was extremely small. The combo came with small bowl of tasteless water down seaweed soup and small kimichi on side. Grill beef lunch combo... small portion of cold/super sweet /chewy beef on small iron plate.. came with tasteless egg roll, cold /soft /tasteless sweet and sour deep fried chicken, orange color tasteless yam cake, a bowl of hard rice.. so disappointed for this combo Grilled jumbo prawns...it's tasteless , nothing special. I found prawn's intestines inside, so dirty. All the servers were hide inside the kitchen, we need to wave them for at least 6 minutes for more napkins and the bill. We were so mad about their services and food. We just pay for the bill and left, even we are not full yet. I rather go somewhere else instead.
