A friend from out of town was passing through and asked if I wanted to meet up for lunch on Sunday. I agreed and decided to hit this joint because I had never been there.
Well, that's not 100% true. I had been to this location years earlier under a different name. I remember a party atmosphere and a lot of people. Harp and Crown is nothing like that, which might relate to a smaller bar.
At 1 p.m. on an NFL Sunday, there were fewer than two dozen people. This is usually a bad sign, but the food, comfort level, and service were all excellent.
We sat at a high top and our server stopped by many times to make sure everything was okay. Timing of food and drink delivery were on the money.
When my friend asked for a check, the waiter thought he said, "A chick." My friend followed that up with a comment that will remain a mystery to readers.
I know this review relates to Harp and Crown, but I'm going to add that this was good/fun/chill company. This dude doesn't take himself too seriously and has some amazing stories. So amazing, in fact, that I might write a book about his experiences. Part of that is because he has applied one of my poker strategies from The Perfect Range (SPATS). He has made so much money from that book that he just bought a condo in Vegas (for poker purposes). He told me I changed his life. That felt pretty good.
A little off-topic there, but it's good for readers to get to know the real you. As far as my burger goes, they nailed it. My friend also raved his meal, but I don't remember what it was and I didn't take a picture. I just remember seeing a bowl with yellow stuff in it.
Highly recommended! I have no idea how it was so empty. Maybe because the Panthers weren't playing this week? Bar too small? Not sure.
