Ahhhh: today's lunch stop was quintessential Maine! I went right for the classic--a lobster roll and fries. Harraseeket's is a nice size, with the lobster lightly dressed and tucked into a tasty bun that seems slightly crisped though also the right amount of soft, with a fresh lettuce leaf. And the fries are no afterthought: golden and crispy, just waiting for an extra dash of salt and a pump of ketchup from the containers on the counter at the pickup window.
That's it. That's all you need, and it's delicious. Oh, and you're right on the dock in Freeport, where you can look right out over the water (I was lucky enough to score a perch on one of the stools with a view of boats, local kids jumping off the docks, and a lovely breeze).
Kudos to the staff here for their super efficiency: I mean it's high summer and there will be a line (I arrived around 1:45p on a Wednesday, so likely not as insane as a weekend); they keep everything moving along, and even post projected wait times for your food (today they said 30-40 minutes, but I doubt it took half as long). Anyhow, you'll be checking out that view and chatting with people in line or sitting next to you, so who cares?
Notes for next time: going for just the steamed lobster (separate line around the back), and the lobster bisque, which is supposed to be outstanding. Updates TK!
