More of a coffee shop than a restaurant but with a healthy variety of good options. Drip coffee was really good. I got breakfast sandwich and the square shaped croissant confused me but turned out to be soft and flaky and tasty. Vibe- nice and warm, kind of noisy like a cafeteria due to groups of friends meeting up to eat and chat, which is kinda perfect when you’re looking for a meetup spot, plenty of seating. Staff was very nice.

A cute cafe located right in downtown! Parking is metered parking (free on weekends)! I went on a Sunday lunchtime and it was pretty busy. There was always a line, thats how you know its good! I was skeptical of their matcha latte since it lacked the vibrant green, but it tasted better than I thought (maybe the sweetness overpowered it?). I had the turkey avocado and thought it was just alright, maybe if it was warm and had lettuce instead of sprouts it’d be better. Their chipotle chicken was great though, not too spicy but enough to taste the kick.

Google
Sturgis peeps! If you’re looking for something different from the mainstream breakfast chains… THIS is your place! Super healthy (unique) options that taste as good as they look! Plus, the food/service was great and the wait time was minimal (aka, a happy tummy with more time to ride). Couldn’t recommend more highly!

Best coffee in Rapid City. That said the point of sale system just takes too long and doesn’t work well. From walking in until the nice person told us the kitchen never got our ticket was exactly one-hour. This was from standing in line watching the register person hunting and pecking, finally placing our order, and then giving up. Would not recommend.

Usually I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but honestly this service was just unacceptable. We’ve been coming here for over 4 years and have never had much issue. Today we came in and ordered to go at 12:16 (receipt attached.) at 12:40 I had to go remind them, assuming they forgot my order, we still didn’t get our food until closer to 12:55.. keep in mind we ordered a SANDWICH & WAFFLE. I got home and this is what they gave me? This would have never been served inside the cafe. Usually there’s much more fruit and the waffle is never burned. I’m very disappointed in this business today and probably won’t be returning. I wouldn’t imagine they would eat this so they shouldn’t expect me to, either.

I wanted to love this spot. It’s cute and busy which is usually a great sign. The reviews were good so maybe we just caught it on an off day. The staff was friendly but the wait was long - they said they were short staffed today. The coffee was pretty good but not exceptional but the food that was our challenge. The breakfast sandwich was ok but the egg was thin and didn’t feel substantial for the price. The waffle was just ok, served cold and the flavor and texture were just not that great and my breakfast bowl was a huge disappointment- while the description sounded excellent the bowl was served completely cold and the egg was literally partially frozen. I had to pick around to eat the parts of the bowl that were edible. I was disappointed to have spent what we did for a breakfast that left a lot to be desired. This won’t be a spot we return too - even though the van really was pretty awesome. Edit - Appreciate the kind reply from the owner! We are not in Rapid too often but we will definitely give you another try when we are back in town. Off days happen! 😍

Google
I can't give 6 stars, so 5 will have to do. Everything was amazing - very relaxed and chill atmosphere, service was super friendly, my hot chai tea latte was spot on, the sausage and spinach burrito was so fresh and delicious, and my wife loved the quinoa breakfast bowl. The decor is so unique. Don't go to Starbucks - shop local.

Google
I really wanted to love this place because I felt like it was a picture of my soul. It had VW van, with books, cute patio, great selection of teas and baked goods coming straight out of the oven. However it get a lower rating only because the hubs felt the bowl was very basic. I did tell him it’s healthy. I liked my sandwich because the bacon was absolutely crispy just like I love it! I think you should definitely give it a try.

Yelp
Overall? Nice coffee shop. Plenty of indoor seating, decent food options, and a surprisingly varied drink menu. The service? On point, especially considering they're clearly a bit understaffed. Bonus points for convenient parking Parking? Mostly street, but a few accessible lots nearby WiFi? Yep What I got: Americano: Now, if you've read my coffee reviews before, you know my go-to litmus test is the espresso. Why? Because in places where there's little competition, it's way too easy to pump out something burned and bitter and expect people to just suffer through it. But not here. I was genuinely impressed. The espresso had a nice, balanced acidity, no sourness, no bitterness. Just smooth, solid flavor. The water-to-espresso ratio was pretty spot on. Add to that a pleasant body and a silky texture, and it was one of those rare Americanos that actually feels thoughtful

Yelp
What a great little breakfast place! We stopped in for brunch and were immediately impressed with the trendy feel and unique ambiance. There's a cool little area upstairs where you can watch people come and go while enjoying a delicious homemade pop tart and excellent coffee! We had the Breakfast Bowl (surprisingly delicious) and an Acai Bowl which were healthy and packed with flavor, it seems like you just can't go wrong here!

Yelp
This is a great venue. Filled with character, light and beautiful high ceilings. Every time here, the service is adequate and pleasant, requires me being outgoing to have a bright response. Coffee is good. Like Starbucks, just good. Always, the food is just okay. Pasty: dry, over warmed and lacking filling. Too much week old tasting crust.... The chocolate banana bread is rich, contains good chocolate and was a high point in the meal. Breakfast bowl is okay. Undercooked bacon. Just enough egg to say it's on there; fresh greens, just not gonna get a "Wow" from anyone. Again, Spectacular location. The staff all feel as if they need a huge hug. The food needs to be reviewed and revitalized. Management, consider getting some fresh eyes involved in your operation, Bill

Yelp
This was a nice find during our roadtrip! We wanted some good breakfast food and we found this place. It is a spacious place with an upstairs seating area also. The service was good, efficient, and friendly. When I got my breakfast sandwich it did not look like much, but it made me full (in a good way). I will definitely come back when I am in this area again!

Yelp
I Truly Enjoyed My Visit To Harriet & Oak! The Ambiance Is Chill But Has A Hip Vibe And The Menu Is Definitely Bigger Than I Expected For A Cafe! I Was Greeted Upon Walking In And Was Served Pretty Quickly. One Huge Take Away Is That I LOVED The Maple Oat Matcha!!!! OMG! I Am Not A Matcha Girl AT All But I Always Find Myself Trying It Just In Case I Find One That Changes My Mind and OMG This One Was It! I Also Ordered The Berries And Cream Waffle And I Was Pleasantly Surprised By The Size And The Freshness Of Everything. Just 10/10 And I Can't Wait To Come Back During My Time In Rapid City!

Yelp
Wow! What a cute coffee shop! We stopped by to get a quick coffee and then saw the menu and decided to stay for lunch. I had a white chocolate lavender latte (on their spring menu) with oat milk and it was tooooo good! I tried the smoked and roasted sammie and it was great! Also, I had to try a cookie... and yes I had a bite of that first! It was warmed up and it was gooey in the center but crispy/buttery edges! Sooooo amazing!! Literally could eat a dozen! Highly recommend - the vibe here is awesome!!

Yelp
What a fun spot!! On our last day as tourist in South Dakota we went to Rapid City for a little breakfast before our flight. Thank you YELP for guiding us to Harriet & Oak! Not only was the food yummy but the atmosphere was young, hip, and fun with a VW Bus in the middle of the restaurant! I had Breakfast Pastie with Ham, egg, and cheese with potato, green pepper and onion and washed it down with a spicy chai latte! The king pasty was so good. I ate it before taking a picture, but I did manage to get a picture of my chai. Wish I lived closer so I could go back again!

Yelp
Such a cute breakfast spot! You order at the counter and take a number to your table and they will bring it out to you when it's ready. The nutella toast was to die for. Reasonably priced as well. Service was also very fast. They serve breakfast and lunch foods and close by 3pm I believe. I definitely enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were super nice and helpful. If I am ever back in the area, I will definitely make another stop.

Yelp
5 star food and service at Harriet and Oak! We ordered the turkey and avocado sandwich which was fresh and the pesto was delicious! The breakfast bowl was good, the spicy vegan mayo added a kick. The chair was delicious and definitely beat Starbucks prices . Definitely give this spot a try if you're in town!

Yelp
FANTASTIC!!! Highly recommend! Oh my gosh I wish I could eat here every single day! Ordering at the bar, the girl was super sweet and highly knowledgeable about the menu. Everyone loved everything they ordered, and this was my husbands first Acai Bowl and he keeps talking about it, even back home in Nebraska! We took the scones to go for snacks later in the day!
google avatar

Aleli Z.

Yelp
Food 5* Service 3* - only because everyone else was kind and approachable. There was the one cashier girl (I don't wanna describe her for her privacy) who took our order who was oddly rude. Not sure why. For the business: Whatever the reason she was mad about, your CSR's shouldn't ask (especially with an unapproachable annoyed attitude) "anything else?" Instead, with a polite smile, try "will that be all for you today?" Try maybe just 'waiting' to see if the customer has finished ordering, smile and ask "will that be all for you today?" There is no reason to feel rushed 'to kill the line' when the food and drinks are definitely worth the wait. Don't want the girl to get fired, she just has some room for growth there. I hope this feedback is relayed to your team as a whole and hope the one specific girl grows from it. Ambiance 5* - enough seating for the short time you're there to eat.

Yelp
Their food is great, the ambiance, also fantastic, but nothing beats their coffee! Absolutely divine! Love going here!

Yelp
I loved that there was a VW bus in here that you can sit inside and sip your coffee! We got in line and they had some menus we can look at while we waited in line. It was pretty busy on a Friday morning. I ordered a breakfast sandwich - there is an option of bacon or ham on it. I opted out and just got egg and cheese. I also order cold brew with brown sugar cold foam. The coffee didn't take too long. We were given a number and waited at a table. It took quite some time for the sandwiches though. Like 15 - 20 minutes. We were thinking it was a quick thing but definitely come to relax and enjoy the vibes rather than get a to-go order.

Yelp
Always love coming here. Service can be a bit slow but it's worth the wait. I usually get a vanilla latte.

Yelp
What a gem of a find this place is!! We're in town visiting from Texas and this place was truly a treat! Judging by the long line of customers waiting to order, you could tell it must be good and it did not disappoint! I ordered an iced pumpkin latte with a shot of caramel and gotta say it's the best iced latte I've ever had! The pumpkin had pies were exceptionally delicious as were the other breakfast and lunch items our party ordered. Highly recommend the breakfast bowl! We'll definitely be back next time we're in town. Closed on Monday's.

Yelp
Really nice little spot. My latte was delicious as well as our pastry and sandwiches. The homemade pop tarts were yummy-o

Yelp
Harriet and Oak is an awesome breakfast spot and a must visit if your in Rapid City. The food and coffee was so good we ended up eating breakfast here 2 days in a row! The coffee is really great and there are a few unique espresso options that are worth checking out. We ordered a variety of foods from a delicious roasted veggie sandwich to a acai bowl. Everything thing we had was really fresh and we loved it! The coffee shop is a really fun spot with a VW bus in the restaurant that acts as a table to eat in. Just a really fun place and a perfect stop on vacation!

Yelp
Nice little cafe and coffee shop, however service is slow without apologies. Good selection of tea but coffee not so great. Breakfast came out one person at a time for the same order. No apologies that it took 20 minutes for the second order to arrive (and it was the same item as the first). Avoid if you are in a hurry to eat something.

Yelp
Delicious, so so good, great service, great environment, incredibly delicious varieties and so so clean! Stop by if you are in the area!

Yelp
Harriet & Oak is a super busy coffee shop in Rapid City! The service is quick and friendly, coffee is incredible with great specialty drinks available. Breakfast sandwiches are amazing and their homemade baked goods are always fresh. Be sure to check out their homemade poptarts with rotating flavors!

Yelp
Really nice sweet potato burrito. The spicy chai tasted a little watered down in my opinion. Ambiance is nice, it's nice sitting in here. The line can get long and move slow at times, but it's nice experience.

Terry S.

Yelp
Breakfast bowl was outstanding. Coffee was excellent. The selection of teas is impressive. We will be back.

Yelp
Food, staff, and location were excellent. Definitely stop by for breakfast or lunch while in RC!

Yelp
Great ambience and fantastic staff. My spicy chai latte was amazing. The inside of the building is just super cool, should definitely check the spot out.

Yelp
After all the hype around this coffee shop, I have to say it's good, but a little overrated in my opinion. On a tuesday at 10am, the place was crowded. No parking around outside and had to park down the street. The line moved quickly at least and the girl at the counter was friendly and prompt with getting my order: a maple latte, steak and potato pastie, and a brown sugar poptart for dessert. Tbh, none of it was very impressive. The coffee was good, but had an odd aftertaste unlike any maple latte I've had before. The pastie was pretty bland and the steak had a weird texture, like it had been blended up a bit too much and was mush while the potatoes didn't seem to have any seasoning. The poptart was ok, but was mostly crust and only had filling in about 50% of its area. This meal was definitely not worth the $20 I paid for it. The decor inside was the only 5 star experience I had with the shop, there is an old VW camper that you can sit in (which was a bit uncomfortable but there were no other tables available) and a second story with additional seating overlooking the first floor. The windows made the place bright and cheery but it was so crowded that it was loud and hard to have a conversation, just too many small kids running around and babies crying that I almost couldn't bear it. This was mid-morning on a weekday, mind you, so I can only imagine how bad it is on the weekends. Overall, come for the vibes and coffee but try to avoid the maple flavoring, pasties, and sitting near young children.

Yelp
Great coffee and breakfast spot in downtown Rapid City. + diverse coffee menu + roastery and beans available for purchase + breakfast + açaí bowls + avocado toast + waffles + homemade pop tarts and baked goods + friendly service + 2 floors of seating

Cheryl M.

Yelp
Food was wonderful and I love the atmosphere. Little Rapid City gem! It is not fast food but we were served timely and it continued to get more busy while we were there!
google avatar

Anna T.

Yelp
I love going to local coffee shops when I travel and this was the best latte I've had in years. The ratio of milk to espresso was just right and the roast was incredibly smooth.
google avatar

Art C.

Yelp
Just got into the city... needed coffee, stat... Luckily we found this place. We had a great couple of cappuccinos from here. Welcome to Rapid City!
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
BEST COFFEE!!! I bought some of the beans to take when we visited! I got a hot lattes and my husband got an iced latte both were good! The baked items are delicious as well!

Yelp
One thing to know about me: This is the first one star review I've ever written. DO NOT GO HERE! Unless, of course, you like hanging out with bearded hipsters and their ill-behaved children, chatty tweens, and 40-something moms, ALL ordering overly-complicated caffeinated adult milkshakes. Seriously. Showed up on a Saturday before noon, I'm from out of town and like to frequent small, independent, well-rated coffee shops. I waited, literally, 25 minutes, for, wait for it . . . a freakin' doppio! Yeah, that's right: 25 minutes so someone could pull me a double shot. Never before in my life. And never again. No apologies. No nothing. They had two people working behind the counter, the line never got shorter the whole time I was standing there. I mean, what a complete and total cluster. Look, Rapid City has numerous independent coffee purveyors to frequent. Give this one a pass.
google avatar

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to find a cafe like Harriet and Oak in a town like Rapid City. All the pastries I have tried have been delicious including the breakfast pasties. The ambiance is very relaxed and cozy. The staff are friendly and helpful with answering questions. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in Rapid.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome vibe. Really cool atmosphere. Love the outdoor environment and I loved the theme drinks. Would definitely come back. Everyone was super friendly awesome spot for the area for a quick breakfast coffee or a hang out.

Alicia C.

Yelp
Stopped for breakfast on a Thursday morning. We ordered the breakfast pastie (just ok) and avocado on toast (very good). Line was out the door at one point so they may need to streamline their ordering process or add a register. We got two pop tarts for the road which were delightful!
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
4.5* We had mostly mediocre food while in SD on vacay and this place was really the only exception. Everything, from the curried chicken sandwich, to the açaí bowls, to the flavored, unsweetened iced teas, was excellent. Prices fair too. If I had one minor gripe, it's that the croissant the curried chicken was served on was a tad on the stale side (hence the half star off).
google avatar

Dennis O.

Yelp
My wife chose this place from Yelp. She liked the menu. She ordered a ham and cheese croissant and I had an acai fruit and seed bowl. My wife's croissant looked delicious but I loved my acai bowl with acai sorbet. It was not fast but the place was pretty busy. Both our meals were It was top quality and delicious. Ambience was casual warehouse with a modern industrial vibe, polished concrete floors. I was ready to return the next day but my wife wanted to try something else. If you prefer a creative, upscale vibe and high quality healthy food this could be your place.

Yelp
The 3 Stars ARE exclusively for the Barista!!! Who is literally the shining Star of this place. The place is crowded between their decorations and people. Slow service, so the line goes all the way to the door, for a moment I thought I was at Walmart!! The place is cramped, noisy, it looks cheap and they allow parents with obnoxious children to have temper tantrums in the place!! How can you enjoy a place with so much noise and a kid having a temper tantrum!! What kind of parents are those who don't know where they can go with their brats!?! Forget it!! Enjoy yourself?? Seriously?? When and where!?!?!

Jr N.

Yelp
Food was decent. Service though...smdh...I asked for a 12 oz, cashier charged me for a 16 oz which I didn't catch when I swiped my card. So second employee gives me the cup, I asked if it was a 12 or 16 oz, she said it's 12; showed her my receipt and asked to get a 16 since I already paid for it. Mind you I did this kindly, as I do understand ppl make mistakes, just give me what was paid for ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It goes without saying that had I known the attitude that I was gonna get for asking for the larger size per my receipt, I would've said fk it keep the $ diff and foregone the tip. Side note: might wanna check if that employee even wants to work there, what with all the raucous she caused with the cups and ice n what not. J/S...

Yelp
An eclectic interesting place with great coffee and ambience! The sandwiches are delicious. I wish they offered a soup during the Winter months. They sometimes struggle with enough staff, but they make the effort to provide an enjoyable experience.
google avatar

Erik R.

Yelp
Great breakfast burritos and really cool layout. Definitely seems like the kind of place you could hang out all day. Staff was great, food came out quickly.

Yelp
Great coffee, you can truly taste that it's good quality! Cool place and nice people! 10/10 Also the food was great as well!
google avatar

H P.

Yelp
Espresso was good. Staff was very kind, thoughtful, and accommodating. While I did enjoy my espresso, I thought the wait was too long due to slow service. Expect to wait about 30 mins on a Saturday morning for coffee to go. Branding and overall ambiance was nice! They do not have homemade syrups or shake/stir flavored espresso drinks. I would come again but not on a busy weekend with a time crunch!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Wonderful coffee shop in the town of Rapid City. Such a cool vibe and atmosphere. Wonderful coffee and food. I ordered a lavender latte, which was delish. The classic açaí bowl is one of the bests I've had (and South FL has so many!) also got a piece of quiche! It was all great.

Piper C.

Yelp
The environment was super chill and all of the staff were super friendly. Even when it got busier they kept going fast enough where you didn't have to wait too long. I recommend the iced Carmel macchiato coffee and the turkey avocado sandwich!
google avatar

Duke S.

Yelp
Great breakfast burrito very good coffee. Fast friendly service. Fun open space to visit with friends or read a book
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome coffee house/cafe with a retro, industrial vibe. Picture a VW van next to galvanized steel, mixed with wood counters and trim. Great menu. Variety of coffee and tea drinks. Avocado toast was superb. The service was friendly and efficient!

Yelp
Three of us arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and the staff was bright and cheery! We got one ham & cheese pastie, sausage breakfast burrito, and a sausage breakfast bowl. Fairly healthy and what we needed for the morning to keep us going for the day. On top of that, we ordered three lattes and received three lattes with beautiful latte art. It wasn't until the end of my meal that I realized I didn't have an egg included in my breakfast bowl as advertised. They were really nice about it and asked if I wanted the egg to go. Since I already ate and was on my way out, I ordered a coffee instead in which they courteously comped me. Really enjoyed my breakfast here! Totally a great stop.
