Loved touring the Harriet Tubman Home grounds. Grateful to have had this experience. Our docent was charismatic and knowledgeable, so glad I was able to be in her tour group. I do recommend planing ahead and reserving your tour date and time. Took over 1.5 hours for me to finish the tour and take a walk by the grounds.

Words cannot adequately describe how wonderful this experience was. Highly recommend. Paul is a fantastic storyteller and walks you through her amazing life. Allow time to thoroughly enjoy this. His presentation and then the walk through of the home took approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it was worth it. I learned so much and the space felt very honoring. Make time to visit ABC hear the fulness of Harriet’s story.

Paul was the best story teller. I thought I knew a lot about Harriet Tubman, but I learned so much. She was an incredible person.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Harriet Tubman home and museum! They have tours at 10 am and 2 pm. The tour was $7/adult and lasted approximately 2 hours. Very informative, and Reverend Carter was extremely knowledgeable and gave an excellent tour. 4 stars because we would have liked to see more of the Harriet Tubman home specifically, but it was under renovations when we visited.

Awesome experience. We were driving through Arburn, NY, headed to Canada. We had no idea we were going to pass through this town. What an awesome experience and well worth the stop. Great part of history and the knowledge you gain from just reading what they have available to read. Go, go now, you will not be disappointed.

An amazing woman, began as a slave, was a true American hero, recognized by the U.S. Government! Learned so much. Great presentation.

The house itself didn't have much to see, however the tour guide/presenter was such a character. He was an amazing storyteller and kept us very engaged during the almost hour long presentation (and we had kids with ages ranging from 6-13). He made the story of Harriet come to life and communicated the importance of keeping history alive.

Google
This is an important historical site which has substantial value. It’s still being developed so there isn’t a whole lot to see. Major kudos to the Reverend who is doing all the work and has done for 34 years. The 45 minute presentation about Harriet Tubman could be much better if the presenter were more dignified and respectful of the enormous sacrifice she made. Too often there were silly interludes and unfortunate asides that distracted me from the seriousness of Harriet Tubman’s life and accomplishments.

Yelp
The Harriet Tubman Home for the Aged is in partnership with the new Harriet Tubman National Historical Park, but remains in the hands of a separate non-profit organization. Paul is a super friendly staff member who has been working on the site for almost 30 years, and he is just a wealth of knowledge! His tour was very engaging. There are, however, limited tour hours because he is a one-person show. The site consists of a small visitors center, Tubman's home (which is under restoration), and her Home for the Aged (which can be entered via guided tour). The Tubman family has donated some items because there was a fire that resulted in some destruction. Ms. Tubman left her property to her church, Thompson Memorial AME Zion Church, and there's been some work going on with the partnership for the new Harriet Tubman National Historical Park.

Yelp
I truly enjoyed the visit to this historical site. The tour guide shared many interesting facts about Mother Harriet's life and had us captivated as well as laughing at some of the stories. The life of Harriet Tubman was astounding and inspiring; but also a grave reminder of the history that plagues this nation. We were not able to enter one of the buildings as it is being repaired. A second building we were able to partially enter. The visitor center contained a timeline of her life and other information related to the abolitionist movement and the civil war. Even though we couldn't enter all of the buildings, it was well worth the visit. And I can't wait to return after some of the repairs take place.

Yelp
I've been here a few times. This place is very interesting; it's closed now because of Covid but I still went to the brick house, just not inside (on this visit). I have been here before though. The tour was informative and seeing the grounds was interesting. I'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Yelp
Paul was our guide. He has been leading tours for 29 years. He knows everything about Ms. Tubman. If I had a history teacher like him I would have loved history more. We got to go through the house Ms. Tubman let seniors live in. Her personal house was under construction. What an awesome lady! This is a park I will visit again one day! Would be great for field trips or families. Highly recommend you stop in.

Yelp
I saw this place only once, it was back in 2010. I thought the museum was very educational, did the presenting of artifacts very well. I would recommend it for something to do on a cloudy, cool rainy day.

Yelp
Very incredible place to visit. The history of this place is incredible. Really gives you a great look into the past and into the life of this incredible woman and what she did for blacks back then. I can recommend this place...sadly only in a few words here....but trust me! Its amazing! You see the house for the elderly, you see the small museum where they give you a history of Harriet Tubman, then, you can walk over to her actual residence and her barn. They are renovating the house...so, unfortunately, its closed at the moment....but man, I'm telling....its pretty overwhelming to go there and to just think of the history of the place and of the iconic individual who used to once grace those grounds with her amazing presence.

Yelp
Drove hundreds of miles to this location to find out you need to go on a guided tour to see it. Not many signs on the premises with multiple buildings so I'm still not sure if I even saw THE house. Maybe next time I'm in Auburn I'll give it another go.

Yelp
The short visit to the property was warming, the young lady loved telling Harriet's story and I enjoyed every minute! What a wonderful and incredible woman Harriet Tubman was. The world is a better place because of her. It's worth a visit, the tour takes you back in time.

Yelp
We arrived at the Visitors Center and had quite an informative talk about Harriet Tubman and the times in which she lived. The timeline of her life and the historical events contrasted what life was like. After looking at information displays, the docent gave a lovely talk about this impressive lady. It was so interesting that even our 7 year old granddaughter sat through it as she was impressed by Harriet Tubman and her life. Interestingly she arrived home from one trip to find that her husband had married again, so Harriet continued on with her life, eventually marrying again. Then we were taken on a tour of her home which has been lovingly restored. Very fascinating and the guide made Harriet Tubman's life much more impressive. We had a relaxing picnic on the tables by the lovely pond back of the Visitors Center.

Yelp
Harriet Tubman is quiet a character, almost unbelievable. The first thing I saw and coming into the place was a tour guide who was wearing a sweatshirt and on the back it said: if you're tired keep going if you're scared keep going if you're hungry keep going if you want to taste freedom Keep going Harriet Tubman is credited with these words. She helped many people escaped from the bonds of slavery, to escape into free states, and to escape into Canada. She had decided that she was going to either have Liberty or death and there was no in between. What a great woman of character. What a great leader of others. An inspiration throughout her lifetime she had many, many wonderful stories about who was free and who was not free. What are theses papers and what do they really mean? How you could try and get from Maryland to Pennsylvania because Maryland was still a slave state and Pennsylvania was a free state. Then there were slave exit laws that said if you helped anybody you could be fined $1,000 and put in jail for 6 months. So some of the stories, tricks, and twists of getting people down the road and into a free state or getting them to Canada for a free country are more than just marvelous stories. They are stories of people's lives. The Diaries put it on the line at an even greater depth. This is a very interesting piece of our history. You will a huge timeline of some big events, which reveal more of slavery. Slavery around the world. Britain stopped having slaves, do you know when? Slave trafficking was made illegal: do you know when? Different black associations were formed to help the situation. Getting people moving into the next century, to help people respect each other as human beings, these stories by Tubman and of Tubman's actions are deeds of activism that must never be lost. They must always be remembered. They must be branded into the minds of the young that this will never be forgotten but even better that it will always be remembered in the great light that it was intended.

Yelp
This was a great exhibit. I joined a tour starting at the visitor's center. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. She walked us through Harriet's life in the Visitor's Center, then we walked over to Harriett's home for the Aged. I learned so much about Harriet Tubman I never knew before. I spent about 60 minutes at the museum but wasn't done. (I had to leave to get back to my Grandmother) I highly recommend going and having about 2 hours to give it the full walkthrough.

Yelp
Made a quick stop here on our way to the Falls. So glad we did! Paul and his wife give an excellent tour. Many interesting facts were shared in a way that kept my teen totally engaged. Defiant worth a trip with the family

Yelp
This homestead of the Civil War era heroine is maintained by the local AME Zion Church. The visitors center at the rear of the property contains a thorough exhibit on the life and times of Harriet Tubman. There is a preserved home for the elderly that Tubman and her family ran later in her life. The church is in the process of restoring Tubman's actual home which is also on this property. If we had been able to visit that home, I would've added another star to this review. Our tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. It is worth your while to visit the Tubman home as well as the William H Seward house which is only a couple of miles further up the road.

Yelp
What a joke!!! I sure hope things change there and when it becomes a national park none of the people involved in running it today have a hand in it. Just not professional at all. and really nothing to see there. Plus all the negative rumors you hear about the place in the community and they way it's been run make you apprehensive before you even get there. I'm hoping to go back in a year or so and see if things change. Sure nothing like the way the Seward House is run!

Yelp
A moving beautiful place, with carefully detailed history one can read on the walls of the education center. A must for all Americans, to know of this courageous woman and important part of American history.
