Chicago Gourmet To Hold Two In-Person Dining Events as Full Festival Not Ready to Return | Eater Chicago

"The rooftop of the theater will serve as the in-person hub for several Chicago Gourmet fringe events this September: the kickoff Hamburger Hop on Friday, Sept. 24 — a burger-competition that also runs citywide with DoorDash delivery (more than 100 chefs and restaurants signed up) and a fan vote on Sept. 22 — and the Grand Cru, a premium wine-and-bites affair that will run as two sessions on Saturday, Sept. 25 and broaden its focus to include craft spirits. Last year the Hop successfully shifted to delivery/carryout, and that component continues this year; ticket information is scheduled to be released in August." - Ashok Selvam

What a beautiful arts center. I will definitely be enjoying their Off Broadway season (The line up looks amazing). It's the perfect size to to really enjoy the shows. It feels almost intimate and I'm certain you would have a great view from anywhere in the theater. Shout-out to the Panto Company children's theater for putting on a a fun interactive show.

Google
The show was great and every seat in the Harris Center had a good view. The people working the event were cool, opening the doors for you and finding your seat. I went to see Big Mike Hart.

Saw a delightful presentation of Mary Poppins the Musical put on by a very talented and well directed kids theater troupe! From acting to singing to staging to scenery to props to choreography (especially the tap dance routine) AALL OF IT very professionally done. BRAVO!!!

This was our first time attending the Harris Center. So impressed. Staff was polite and helpful. Not sure if they were paid or volunteers but they were awesome. I brought in a light sweatshirt and was glad I did. The AC was working very well. Parking was provided, it requires a dashboard pass. I believe it is provided with ticket purchase. Since my wife bought the Tix, not sure if it cost extra. This is not a huge auditorium. In fact for the band we saw, Piano Men: Generations it was just right. The band seemed to really be enjoying themselves, audience interaction was high, a very intimate setting. We are planning to attend more events at this venue.

Google
The Harris Center is a fantastic venue for any type of event or ceremony. We recently held our Commencement ceremony there, and the team at Harris did an outstanding job hosting. Everything was well-organized, professional, and seamless. Highly recommend this venue for special occasions.

The Pink Floyd Experience is well worth it. Had 3D images, laser lights, and great music.

Came here to see Shen Yun, plenty of parking, parking was cheap. The tickets were average $140 PP, perfect for folks who enjoys performing arts, ballet and folk tales. The seats were small, with worn cushions, And not meant for sitting for long periods and this show was over 2 hours long. They serve water, coffee and sparkling water during pre-show and intermission. There were no other drink options: No cocktails or wine. Overall it was a cool experience. The Harris center appears to be under construction so hopefully they will update the seats as everything looks outdated. Easy access to restaurants and freeway near by. They feature many different shows here. I hope they would update their menu with more snacks and drinks to include alcohol and better variety. **Don’t forget to follow me on IG for more great places to check out Follow...@Only1ChristineLu **

Google
Easy parking and a nice drop off location for anyone who may have difficulty walking. The facility is clean, seat cushions are pretty comfy and the staff is welcoming and accommodating. The temperature inside is great but sitting under an air pathway it was a little chilly...only because the air was a direct hit. I didnt need one, but someone might bring a light sweater in the summer. We saw the Cinderella ballet and it was a great show, didn't disappoint!

Yelp
12/09/2025 Another fantastic event at this incredible venue. Tonight Colbie Caillet & Gavin DeGraw and their band. Christmas music, duet songs and beautiful solos from each of their albums. This duo has great music, vocals and charisma; they were made to play together. Excellent seating, no bad seats in house (I was seated in 4th row, almost center. Great audio. Excellent friendly docents. Look forward to my next visit at this location.

Yelp
October 27, 2025 Update of any comments I have written, Maestro or Maestra a few notes on the piano if you please, one thousand three hundred seventy seven! My previous of this seems to have twenty even votes USEFUL, FUNNY, COOL! I know a new Japanese restaurant Auburn, California I said until January, be my last comment. However, this Three Stages so great I want write comment while it is fresh in my thoughts! My last comment of this is March 30, 2015, that must be how long since I been to this theater at whatever is the name of the college in town Folsom, California! Three Stages in town Folsom, California! Was very rainy that Sunday. Five of us went to Mary Poppins The Musical! Usher was again, as my first comment for this, Arla Howard! Great acting, all done by children ages ten year old to nineteen year old! Intermission, by the entrance is an art gallery. That usher is named Marsha Mejora! The art is done by Alumni of this college! Okay, the performers were all very good! The person that portrayed the mother, character name Winifred Banks, is age ten! After, people can take pictures with the performers! Wow! Thank you to this Three Stages place at a college town Folsom, California! Glad to have come back for this Mary Poppins The Musical production! Best of luck to this theater in the college of town Folsom, California! Even with it getting to be the busy time for any Food Bank and for any Salvation Army, well it is almost November and well it is almost December, so glad that yes I am able to attend the performance!

Yelp
The 2024-2025 Broadway Series at Harris Center was hard to resist! I purchased a [first-time for me] season subscription, with prices as low as $55 per show. Subscription Pricing Tiers: Premium Tier $590 Tier 1 $477 Tier 2 $424 Tier 3 $330 You can choose from either Opening Night performances or First Matinee. The line-up this season are: Come From Away (Oct 22-27), Hadestown (Dec 12-15), Dear Evan Hansen (Jan 28-Feb 2), Annie (Feb 14-16), Menopause The Musical 2 (Feb 20-23), and Pretty Woman (Mar 7-9). Print tickets at home, and parking passes to display on your dashboard. Take the East Bidwell exit off of Highway 50. Parking is included, otherwise, daily passes are $2. Ushers were kind, making sure we remembered to display the parking passes before we entered the venue. Stairs or elevators to get to the upper level, concessions, merchandise for the touring production for sale, abundant and clean restrooms, coat check, and a step-and-repeat photo backdrop opportunity for the show. The season schedule is spread out enough, without too many conflicts with other local series such as Broadway Sacramento. Note that this Broadway Series is not to be confused with the El Dorado Musical Theatre 2024-2025 Season (Youth musical theater), which has Seussical the Musical, Holiday Celebration, Little Mermaid, Legally Blonde, Best of Broadway, and Willy Wonka. Harris Center also has other acts that come through, recently Nick Carter (of the Backstreet Boys), upcoming Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Tributes to Earth, Wind & Fire plus Kool and the Gang, Shawn Colvin & KT Tunstall, songs of The Eagles, Pops Chorale, The Nutcracker ballet, symphony, Jose Feliciano, A John Denver Christmas, Motown Mania, Chamber Music, Shen Yun, Led Zepplin experience, Texas Tenors, Linda Ronstadt tribute, music of Aretha Franklin, etc.

Yelp
We love coming to the Harris Center to listen to the Folsom Piano Academy recitals. The venue is amazing with the stage, Steinway grand piano, and acoustics. It's a great opportunity for children and teens to learn stagecraft and how to perform in front of a large audience.

Yelp
This was an AWESOME show at Folsom Harris Center Three Stages! They played most of the Dark Side of the Moon for the first set, plus an assortment from both Wish You Were Here, and The Wall for the second set. They had two levels of lasers. We had balcony seats so we could see multicolor multipatterned lasers aimed at the balcony wall below us AND another set of multicolor multipatterned lasers aimed up at the back wall above us. The show was 30 minutes then a 20 minute intermission then another 30 minute set. Awesome music and laser experience! I got tickets through the Events Tickets franchise. In the future, for this ticket franchise, I would suggest they either include Folsom Lake College parking passes in the price, or add a link to purchase them. We knew that we needed a parking pass since we had attended concerts there before. Thus, we searched the Harris Center website for parking passes. On site, you can buy an all day parking pass for $2. Online they cost $3 for all day. You MUST buy a parking pass or you do risk a fine and ticket from the Folsom Lake College Police. We saw a couple return to their car because they did not have a parking pass.

Yelp
We've been to a few shows here over the years and we are always pleasantly surprised by the quality of the productions. The place is clean and the seating is comfy. The volunteers are so nice and helpful and my husband really loves the snacks. This year we subscribed for the first time and look forward to many more shows.

Yelp
First ever visit. Pop music concert. Sat in second row. Portable seats that had lots of extra legroom. Many people have told me that this is a great venue. I don't think it is anything special. The auditorium interior is very plain. The tan walls, floors, & seats looks dated and tired. Can't comment on the sound system from my stage front seat. No idea what sound quality is in the back of the room. My ambivalent opinion is due to comparison. I live 4 miles from The Venue of Thunder Valley casino that has a 4,500 seat auditorium that is truly impressive.

Yelp
Went to see Shen Yun last week. The show was amazing! There is NOT A BAD seat in this place, but will say lower level seats $$$ are not always the best seats. Staff (who are all volunteers) are there with a welcoming smile and hellos. They will assist with locating your seat, directing to restrooms and elevators. All very helpful and friendly. The coat check lady even was willing to take a pair of eye glasses I found in the ladies room to the Lost and Found for me. Always a great experience here.

Yelp
The venue is comfortable, clean, and well staffed. For a smaller venue it feels incredibly spacious and open.

Yelp
I went to Harris Center for the first time to see Herb Albert. Before the concert I could find no indication on the world wide web that there would be beer and wine available. Well, there was, beer and wine only at one stand to right, after you enter the concert hall. A limit of two per person, and they closed both concession windows (the other was for soda and snacks) when the concert started. The concert hall was easy to get to, just turn right off Bidwell into the center of the campus, drive up the hill and park. The concert hall is very intimate, I wasn't expecting to see one of the best concerts of lifetime here.

Yelp

Yelp
The center is well designed. Volunteers are abundant and most helpful. It was nice to be able to buy drinks and snacks to be consumed before the show. Lots of variety in venue choices.

Yelp
I had the fortune to attend a holiday performance of the River Bells handbell ensemble at the Harris Center. This was my first time visiting the new and impressive performing arts center at Folsom Lake College. The facility is located in the back of the campus following a long drive from Bidwell. Parking is generous, but you may need to walk and pay a fee. I do recommend dropping off those with mobility challenges at the entrance. The facility has multiple theatres optimized for small to large performances. On this visit, we were in a smaller theatre in the back which was reminiscent of a lecture hall in college, but with a much more interesting subject. Unfortunately, seats have not grown much even though most patrons have. It can get very tight for larger and taller people. I recommend the first row as you have much more legroom. The sound and lighting were good with no noticeable issues. Harris Center was designed for large performances with the central lobby having multiple restrooms with lots of space. There is also a small bar selling drinks and other items, plus a free coat check which is nice. The lobby is also very attractive with a high ceiling and lots of light. It is nice and understandable that Folsom is becoming the star of Sacramento County. It may soon surpass downtown Sacramento with a nicer old town, and more amenities. I don't think that any major shows will skip G1C or SAFE anytime soon, but the Harris Center allows east county folks an opportunity to get dressed up for a performance.

Yelp
We had the opportunity while visiting the area to attend our oldest granddaughter's graduation from Folsom Lake College on May 18, 2023 at the Harris Center on campus. First time in this venue & what a beautiful venue it was! Large parking lot, curbside drop-off at the entrance, spacious lobby, clean bathrooms. Inside the theater held comfortable seats with rows spaced adequately apart, acoustics were spot on. We were seated on the 2nd level near the balcony & had a fantastic view of the stage as well as the ground floor as the graduates walked in. It's a good-sized theater with a cozy feel. This was the 2nd ceremony that day. The college had so many graduates, they had to split it in 2 scheduled times. The ceremony lasted about an hour & then the graduates marched outside the front entrance to be greeted by family & friends. Overall, I was quite impressed with this venue. When I'm in the area again, would love to catch a production of some kind. Seems like the type of place that one can truly enjoy the performing arts

Yelp
I've always enjoyed coming to the Harris Center. The last time I visited it was to watch the Nutcracker back in 2018 and sadly I hadn't been back since. However, last night I got the pleasure of returning and getting the opportunity to see comedian Felipe Esparza. What a wonderful venue for the occasion. For whatever reason, I remember it being bigger than it was last night but I don't think I was paying all that much attention before. Anyways, the staff were delightful and helpful. The show was amazing. The audience was great and the parking is a plenty! If you get the opportunity to come see any shows or performances at the harris, do it! You won't regret it!

Yelp
All seats are probably good seats. I have seen 2 shows here Shen Yen and Abba. I suggest for Shen Yen you sit near the front so you can really experience it. We wait in Orchestra Right L 11-13. I wouldn't recommend these seats, they are against the wall. When looking at the map it looks like you have an isle seat. The view was ok, but it was too far on the side. I recommend sitting in the middle section. The acoustics are great. There are plenty of bathrooms and they have a snack shack for those that get the munchies. You are welcome to bring water inside the theater. If you arrive early or during intermission you can pursue the art gallery by the front door. It is worth checking out. I recommend this theater for seeing a good show. Then it's up to you to choose the best seats for you.

Yelp
Was very disappointed with staffing at performance due to covid vaccine policy. Recieved tickets with no mention of vaccine requirement. Came from out of state for the performance and new mandates were lifted. Staff were rude and uncaring and couldn't even guarantee refunds. Said it would be Monday but it is a holiday. People came with granddaughter who was around 7 years old dressed and excited to attend and to be denied entrance. Even though it wasn't relayed to us. There is no excuse to be cold hearted and rude..

Yelp
This last couple years, being "locked down" because of Covid) in our home and many of our favorite restaurants and places to visit were closed. It was a real pleasure to get back seeing a performance at the Harris Center.

Yelp
Our third time over the years to be entertained at this venue. Sat front row. Seats where different than the fourth row and back. They appeared removal. The other rows of seats seemed permanent. Like the fact of ushers. Nice clean environment. Perhaps getting a permit to serve alcohol. As glass of wine would have been nice at intermission.

Yelp
Everything about Harris Center, is most perfect from the large parking lots to the large lobby and finally upon entering finding amazing seating... Such a beautiful venue and so will run!

Yelp
Love this venue. I try to get to Harris Theater as often as possible. I enjoy Folsom Lake Symphony and recently attended the Tower of Power show. I like Harris Theater because the acoustics are excellent, parking is easy seating is comfortable, no long lines.

Yelp
We recently saw Jesus Christ Superstar and Johnnyswim within a week or so of each other and there were major sound problems for both shows. For all of Jesus Christ Superstar and for the acts that opened for Johnnyswim, it soundlike there was very little to no sound coming from the main speakers. It seemed like all the sound we could hear was coming from the stage monitors. This made it very difficult to understand the words being sung, and left us straining to hear the muffled voices instead of being filled with pristine audio like we usually experience there. We heard several other people complaining about the same thing, so it was not just us. The stark difference was when Johnnyswim performed. They brought Their own sound guy on tour with them, and the sound was loud, crisp and clearly emanating from the main speakers. We really love the Harris Center, so we hope that they will figure out what is going wrong with their sound personnel and fix the problem.

Michael M.

Yelp
First time here. Convenient and easy ticket sales online. Thought I had purchased bad seats only a few left. I was seated all the way up in the balcony, last row...seat MM 102. Was actually a great view. Didn't feel crowded. I liked it! Will pick that zone again. If your a senior like myself just be careful with going down the stairs it was a little dark. There are handrails and stairs are lit a bit. If I had waited a little longer after the show was over they may have turned on all the lights. But I was trying to get out a little bit early to beat the traffic in the parking lot. The first few rows from the stage,on the floor are actually too close in my opinion. Thumbs up for this place!

Yelp
Both shows I've seen were EXCELLENT! We'll be back! Highly recommend. Great for a family outing.

Yelp
I had the pleasure to be invited to attend the live performance of Mi Mexico by the principal dancer in the caliDanza dance company. Why was I invited you ask? Well I happen to be involved with the studio next door to CaliDanza's practice studio in Curtis Park. Needless to say, all the "floor shaking" practice and rehearsal that CaliDanza holds next door to my studio was evident in the beautiful performance at the Harris Center Theatre, at Folsome Lake College. The tickets were a little pricey ($20.00 - $39.00) but I suppose that it's not much more than going to see a new release move (after buttered popcorn and a soda.) The beautiful surroundings of the Harris Theatre provided an impressive and relaxing ambiance. Upon entrance, I noticed that the interior walls of the lobby happened to be covered with gorgeous blue slate, and the railings in the loft area are made with stainless steel pipes and cables. In the corner to the right of the entrance is a small cafe with bistro tables available for patrons to enjoy a cup of coffee or a cocktail before the show. I must mention that there is a free coat check counter as well...I don't how many times I have gone to the theatre and had to bundle up a huge coat on my lap because there was no where to put it. Inside the theatre: It beautiful, its modern, its super clean, and its new...need I say more? The performance: CaliDanza dance company presented a tasteful yet intriguing melodramatic choreography of Mi Mexico. I didn't know exactly what to expect as often times Foloriko ballet seems to be the same classic style. Yet this professional company presented a modern new innovative way to look at a traditional Mexican folk dance. I was truly impressed. My favorite number was Tzintzuntzan: de los Muertos. A dance depicting the ritualistic elements of Day of the Dead using traditional costumes, music and props. The Music: A live band on the stage (upstage right) provided beautifully composed music tailored for each number...with members from from different parts of latin america and Mexico. Between scenes, the band played intriguing musical vignettes , which provided smooth transitions throughout the show...I did not want this show to end but it had two, dang it :-( All in all, my experience at the Harris Center was magnificent. I hope I have sparked your curiosity and interest in visiting this lovely venue.

Yelp
Tonight was my first experience at this theater. My mother and I watched Beautiful- The Carol King Musical. I honestly don't believe there is one bad seat in the house. I purchased 2 partially obstructed view seats and I didn't think my view was obstructed at all! I am used to watching shows at the Curran or Orpheum in San Francisco. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when I found out the theater was at Folsom College, but they definitely did not disappoint! I enjoyed watching the show in a smaller theater as I didn't feel so disconnected from the actors on stage. Bravo!! We will be back Harris Center!
google avatar

Yelp
We came to the theater for the first time for a matinee showing of Monty Python's Spamalot (HILARIOUS!). I had no idea what to expect of this theater, being on a JC campus. I took some summer classes at FLC way back in the day when the school was literally a few portables and a parking lot. Wow, has it changed! Parking was quick and easy. The theater is gorgeous and modern, with a classic feel. The volunteers were friendly and helpful. The theater is small enough that there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The acoustics were amazing, we could actually hear what the actors where saying and singing, even with their "OUTRAGEOUS ACCENTS!" (unlike the shows we saw this summer at the Sac Community Theater). But I decided to remove one star for one important reason: It would be way too easy to die here. To some that might make it MORE attractive, but since I'm not emo it's not ideal. We sat in the balcony first row, and getting to our seats was like a zip line adventure, without the pretty trees....or safety harness. The railing that separated us from a death-plunge to the floor below was not even as high as our knees. To be fair, I AM part giraffe, but even for a normal person, the railing would not come much higher than the knee. Pair that with the fact that there are people sitting in seats, and you have to lean out and scoot by them, and that gives you the tightrope walking, sphincter-tingling sensation that I was not expecting at a musical theater. If you have tickets for that row, and you arrive AFTER people are already seated, bring your crampons and safety ropes!

Debbie C.

Yelp
The place is clean and the seating is Comfortable. Staff are always helpful and the location is great.

Yelp
I've been here several times to see performances but only in the main stage. Unique performances come to this location however it is only for 3 days. My suggestion is getting on there mailer so you know ahead of time what shows are coming to the theater and get your tickets ASAP because they sell out fast.

Yelp
This was my first time here, October 2019. I live not far from here and the band that I tour with was playing with some of Jimmy Buffet's good amigos! The acoustics in the theater were incredible from behind the stage and in the crowd. The staff that night was incredible and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone to come and check out some music or art of any kind. The downfall, which I heard from many of the concert goers was the lack of refreshments or drinks at the venue.

Yelp
We took our children to see a production of the Wizard of Oz over the weekend. The production was great but I won't base my review on the show itself because the shows come and go. We really liked this theater! It was easy to find and parking was a breeze. We were confused as to whether or not we were supposed to pay for parking (since I think this theater goes with the college?) but we opted not to get one of the parking passes and it was fine. No one had one. Entering the theater was also easy. There were a bunch of people taking tickets so we didn't even have to stand in line. We were ushered to our seats by a friendly gentlemen. We were sitting in the front section and boy, it was a great view of the stage! My 3 year old was able to see fine from her seat but she did have to climb on our laps if a lot was happening on the ground. The audio was great! We could clearly hear all the actors and music. The lights and set were good too! The seats were comfortable! I'm a plus sized lady and the seat was great for me. My 3 y/o had to go potty during Act 1. The ushers saw us coming and used their flashlights to guide us over the steps. They were very understanding that a little person needs to rush to the potty. They opened the doors for us. The restroom was very nice and clean. We can't wait to come back to see another play at this theater!

Yelp
This was my first visit to Harris Center/Three Stages on the Folsom Community College campus. Signs were helpful but I still needed to ask for directions from the security on duty. The campous is huge! I went to pick up tickets for a performance in October and as there are 6 of us going, it saved a bit on the additional fees. The website is easy to maneuver for tickets and it does give you the option of picking tickets up at the box-office. I will write my reaction to the actual theater later when I have experienced the performance. Stay tuned!

Yelp
Impressive venue on a college campus to see some premium entertainment acts from all over the world. A wonderful concert hall but not too cavernous, Three Stages retains a feeling of intimacy. Jeff Bridges, The Actors' Gang, CAKE, Pete Escovedo are just a few of the folks coming through this season. Nice facilities, staff and ushers. Parking could not be easier or closer to the entrance. Except for a few chairs that appear waiting room- or conference room-ish, most of the seating is fixed, velvety and comfortable. Great view from loge/box/mezzanine, but there doesn't seem to be a bad view from anywhere you sit. And may I just say "Bravissimmo" to the Russian National Ballet Theatre. They put on a show seldom tackled by any ballet company. The production of "The Sleeping Beauty" was nothing short of SPECTACULAR. I feel thrilled and blessed to have seen this in my lifetime. Of course, it's my favourite ballet and fairy tale. How can it not be? Beautiful dazzling princess bestowed with all of the most extraordinary virtues in life... delightful lovely fairies protecting her... a snubbed vengeful fairy with minions... a spell saving the princess from death but leaving her and her kingdom frozen in time, trapped in slumber... and a brave handsome prince-- with guidance from fairy guardian-- determined to rescue the exquisite princess he met, once upon a dream. Love at first sight... first dance... first kiss..... Romantic much? Who, moi? *sigh* The Tchaikovsky score, the Petipa choreography... SO magnificently glorious, I couldn't help but tear up just a little. Whether Disney or the ballet, can I please, pleease just be the princess and live this fairy tale?! Incredible performances, engaging characters, breath-taking solos, stunningly pretty/handsome superlative talent, sparkling costumes... Exhilirating. Splendid. Joyous. I could watch this again and again and again. And Three Stages had the fine sense to host a few nights of this rare, gorgeous and brilliant classical ballet. BRAVO.

Yelp
Great venue - very similar to the Mondavi, but about half the size. From downtown it's a 15-20 minute drive, about a mile north of 50 on Bidwell/Scott Road. The stage, sound, and lights were all great. We saw Ramblin' Jack Elliot and then John Prine - a really great show for a small venue like this. They had us through the door and to our seats quickly, no muss, no fuss. A free coat check is at the enterance to the hall, nice. The parking lot is better managed than at the Mondavi, (and free!) - there are more than one exit from the parking lot and so it clears out in under 10 minutes or so. My only real complaint is they have no concessions to speak of other than a card table selling candy bars and chips - gross. I saw something about a small cafe - but it did not appear to be open when we were there. How about getting a beer and wine license and having a few snacks that aren't disgusting? I can't think of a venue this size anywhere that doesn't offer decent concessions. They could charge the normal exorbitant amounts (i.e. $8 for a local beer like Panic perhaps?) and easily make a profit, while greatly enhancing the experience.

Yelp
This was simultaneously one of the most unique, enjoyable and bizarre rock concerts I've seen in a while. While local legends Cake showed they clearly still have what it takes to funk things up, the venue was more like a community theater, leaving me in an awkward purgatory between refined appreciation and rocker-rebellion restraint. I had never been here before and found the latest appearance of these hometown heroes to be a perfect opportunity. We arrived early and immediately found out this wasn't the "concert" atmosphere we expected. Almost any other rock venue between here and SF is a well-worn, decaying, mostly standing-room hall with floors sticky from beer and piss-soaked, graffiti-covered restrooms. Three Stages is where you go to see the local production of Oklahoma. Mostly older ushers were almost as common as the patrons, the interior is brand spankin' new, and worst of all, they don't serve alcohol! Keeping the music in mind, I stayed positive and headed into the main concert hall. Yet another layer of oddness as we were ushered down into the standing-room only section in front. The orchestra pit was clearly not designed for a rock concert and the stage was higher than everyone's head, making the purpose of standing up front (to be close to the band, duh) that much more difficult as everyone had to crane their necks and move back anyway. Furthermore, there was a limit to how many were allowed down there, meaning the shoulder-to-shoulder dancing with fellow enthusiasts was more like waving at a friend across the room. The dancing would have felt out of place anyway as the rest of the crowd, ranging in age from 10 to 70+, filed in and sat in comfy seats behind us. Was this a Cake concert or a speaker series for retirees? I immediately regretted not buying seats myself since they were just as close and folks could sit without any obstruction from us in the foreground. When the band finally came on, the silence between songs was painful. You could hear feet squeaking on the floor. I could hear someone cough in the balcony. It's not that the band was bad; they were actually at their best. It's just that Three Stages is not designed as a rock concert hall and the combination of ushers who scold you for sneaking Skittles in and patrons who clearly had no idea who this band was or why they were there seemed to dampen the experience. Next time I'll see Cake in the Bay Area like everyone else.

Yelp
Really nice venue with all the bells and whistles. Only thing missing is the booze. They don't serve any beer/liqueur due to it being a campus venue. Came here last night for the Merle Haggard concert. The inside, as well as the outside was nice and clean. The bathrooms were well kept and had speakers so you can still listen to the concert. Also they had a small cafe that served coffee, water, tea and a few snacks. Overall experience: It was good, wouldn't mind coming back to watch another Artist so I can compare the sound set-up before I make a comment on the PA system.

Yelp
The hubby and I had the wonderful chance of seeing the Royal Ballet of Cambodia perform at the Harris Center For the Arts late last week in Folsom. The venue is newer and the views are pretty overlooking the hills of the city. The volunteer ushers were all really nice and helpful. They do not serve any alcohol here since it is on a college campus but we were fine. They do have a small cafe though that sold snacks and soda/water. The show lasted 2 hours long with no intermission and we were comfortable enough without feeling like we needed to get up and stretch. We sat in the "orchestra row" seats and had plenty of room and the view of the stage from where we sat was perfect. Although we didn't understand a word of the performance, we still had a great time. The show was beautiful to say the least and all the performers seemed so humble as they received a standing ovation from the audience at the end. We definitely had a good time and are all ready planning to see the Nut Cracker in December.

Yelp
I just saw a production of Hair at the Falcon's Eye Theater at the Harris Center, and I was deeply, deeply moved. First of all... OMG WHAT A FANTASTIC VENUE! The theater had kick you in the butt acoustics, and was an aesthetic gem. Then there was the show. I grew up with this musical and know every word and note, and I think it's safe to say that this was part of the soundtrack of my kids' lives. To be able to take my grown kid to this performance and to experience its flawlessness with said kiddo was transporting. Sure, I sobbed like a baby the entire time. Its beautiful blasphemy is at least as relevant now as it was when it first came out. Thank you guys for staging such tragic, uncomfortable, beautiful relevance.

Yelp
A friend and I had a very uncomfortable experience with a member of the audience during a recent performance at the Harris center. During the performance the man sitting to the left of us continued to give us dirty looks and verbally harass us while we enjoyed the show. We felt so uncomfortable that we left at intermission and did not stay for the entire show. I've emailed the box office re: a refund of tickets and have not heard back from any staff members.

Yelp
We have attended a variety of shows here. Concerts, comedians, musicals. This venue is awesome. Small and intimate. A great place to see an awesome show/production. The staff is always very friendly. 4 vs 5 as it would be nice to come early and be able to get a glass of wine or beer prior to an event starting, but at this time they do not serve alcoholic beverages. Soda, water and snacks are available.

Yelp
LOVE this venue! We went to the Cake show a couple of weeks ago, and had no idea what to expect. I didn't like that we had seats (I like GA so I can get close to the stage), but we were purchasing the day of from someone on craigslist and had no choice in the matter. We actually had BACK ROW SEATS (lower level) and were amazed by how close we still felt! A very intimate feel, and I will go back, even though I have to make the drive from SF!

Yelp
This is a great place to take in a variety of performances. My husband and I attended a George Winston concert this past fall at the main stage. Overall the acoustics were great. The seating was quite comfortable. The lobby was spacious and the parking outside was more than adequate.

Yelp
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy playing tonight. This will be the first concert I've been to where they DO NO SERVE ALCOHOL. Repeat: NO ALCOHOL You're looking at percolator coffee, plastic bottles of Pepsi and water. Enjoy a Hershey bar if you're hungry. The snack shack at my little league baseball field had better food. Pro tip: there's a BJs a block or two away; hit the bar before you visit. Plenty of places up the street to pre-drink but really disappointing to not enjoy an adult beverage during the show. Score: parking is only $2

Yelp
An excellent performing arts center with an expansive, modern design. My fiance and I came to see "Once" and we absolutely loved it. Parking is plentiful as well and I already can't wait to come back for another show.

Yelp
I love this venue! It's intimate with great acoustics. Easy to get to, park, and get back out of. I've seen several shows here, mostly music. My only comment would be that the first three rows, A-C, are either level or slope back. When I went to see Ottmar Liebert, we sat in row D, center, and I could barely see over the heads of the people in the first 3 rows, because we weren't tiered above them. Now that I've figured this out, I am getting seats a little further back, and have already purchased tickets for 2 more shows. Please go see a show here! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I have been at the Harris Center multiple times during this year 2019 and also a patron/volunteer throughout its nine year history. It presents an amazing variety of shows for young and old including jazz, dance, musicals and speakers. It provides an intimate experience (850 seats), its sound quality is upgraded and unparalleled and volunteer staff are professional and welcoming. I recently saw Kinky Boots (musical), Keiko Matsui (Japanese pianist) and Harmonica Blowout (blues). All excellent shows. It also has some of the best programming for young kids (The Little Mermaid will be starting soon). This is important since I have seven grandkids and I'm always on the lookout for good family entertainment. This is a jewel that radiates with wonderful programming throughout the year. Enjoy!
