Feels like you're walking back in time. The walls are filled with stuff that was for sale here many decades ago when it was still a hardware store and not a gift shop. Fun, local art gallery in there too.

Really unique shop with the original cabinets on the wall. When paying with cash the store still uses it's original cash register. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Cool little place to stop in when you're in the area. Not ideal for small children. It's very quiet in the store and aisles are tight.

This store is so great! It has such an eclectic mix of products crafts and art. I could pursue the shelves for hours exploring the merchandise, vintage fixtures, and Memorabilia. My boyfriend bought me some wonderful cake pans, some cast iron pans, and some super cool Huntsville themed coasters. The staff is really nice, and were enjoyable to chat with as we were checking out. I will definitely be back to browse and spend!

Such a fun and interesting general store. The oldest in ALA when visitors are in town this is a must pop in. Right on the historic square and filled with local and regional artisan crafts, gifts and more. From soaps to marbles you will be amazed at everything they have. The staff are half clerks - half docents so fun and filled with facts, tidbits and info on Huntsville and the store. This is just as much a tourist attraction as it is business. You’ll be delighted at their selection and leave knowing a little bit of history of Huntsville too.

Stop by the visitor's center in Huntsville and grab a scavenger hunt list of items to find here! You get to take home a prize. You will find unique gifts here, hand blown glass marbles, artwork, baking supplies, tools, and very cool antiques to check out. You might be so lucky to find a Huntsville Lucky Duck right outside too, just look up. 😉

Very cool store. Almost like a museum with much of history and art. Make it a nice stop when walking around huntsville!

Google
A neat store. Half of it is clearly still embracing the original store. Kind of neat to see the elevator and old bins full of nails. But their merchandise is a mixture of 50% novelty gifts and 50% local arts and crafts. That being said the local art was cool and some was priced very reasonably. My wife and I even found the perfect "key bowl" which we'll always remember our visit by when we return home to Virginia. Definitely worth a quick or not so quick stop, although I wish they offered at least some hardware of some kind for sale.

Yelp
Originally built in 1879, this is the oldest hardware store in Huntsville! It ceased operations decades ago, but a non-profit took over to preserve and maintain the building. It's basically now a gift and craft shop selling souvenirs, local food/snacks, and local artisan crafts. The staff is super nice, and when we said it was our first time visiting they told us all about the history of the building. Most of the furnishings inside are original including the floors, shelving, cash register and an elevator shaft! This place was so cool and is definitely a must visit in downtown Huntsville! Just be aware they don't have any public restrooms. I had to walk around back to Constitution Park to find a restroom

Yelp
The "from the business" information here pretty much sums Harrison Brothers Hardware up: "Today, we are more of a gift shop and art gallery that features local artwork and handmade merchandise." We visited yesterday on a rare day off and because I haven't been to HBH in decades. I thought I would come across something I didn't know I needed, which didn't happen. I liked their t-shirts, and stoneware/pottery. My sister likes the socks they carry. They also have locally written books in a tightly curated display. A small selection of locally made jewelry items, cutting boards, and other artwork. The staff were friendly and helpful, and, as others noted, there is no public restroom. They are not 100% volunteer staffed anymore, at least one person is on the payroll. The safe in the back is cool to see and they do have several displays of antique items on the floor as well as the area near the ceiling.

Yelp
Really cute old hardware store full of really cool stuff. Bought a friend some pottery. They gave me information on the artist and how versatile it was. Staff was super helpful and knowledgeable.

Yelp
Oldest hardware store in Alabama!!! Pretty cool old times and said-to-be haunted location downtown. This is where the ghost tours meet for Twickenham.

Yelp
If you love a combo of old and new and seeing preserved items from days gone by, then make it a point to drop in if you're in the downtown Huntsville area. They have gift items, sauces, all sorts of things...not really a hardware store anymore, but it has some neat items and we enjoyed browsing around.

Yelp
I was looking for a knickknacky type of store, as I always find the best postcards to send to my grandchildren when I travel at one. I came across Harrison Brothers Hardware and although I had my doubts, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in. I was immediately greeted by several Hello's and the displays across the store drew me in. I looked at several items I had no idea I'd be interested in, and finally made my way to the counter. Of course I found four wonderful and unique postcards so everyone got a different one. I chatted for a bit, then they rang up my order on the two foot tall, hundred plus year old cash register( maybe?) , it popped open and they dispensed my change. When back in Huntsville, I will go back.

Yelp
This is a super cool store that looks like Mast General "before it was cool." Essentially a hipster's paradise, and even has coffee! You probably won't see any hipsters in this cute mom and pop though, don't worry. They have some really great small gifts that make wonderful and unique Christmas gifts. Local, handmade, and "regular" items are all available. Even if you aren't intending to buy anything, this is a great store to stop by and peruse the decorations, enjoy the history, and have a nice chat with locals!

Yelp
Harrison Brothers Hardware is a really neat little shop located in downtown Huntsville across from the courthouse. It's jam packed with all kinds of eclectic trinkets, gifts and souvenirs. I very much enjoyed just meandering the old hardware store. Not very much is available anymore, by means of actual hardware. Through the years, it's been replaced with food items, cooking books and gadgets and some great local art. Much of the nostalgia remains as part of the décor, including the old cash register, which I was surprised to discover still worked. The cashier's response to my surprise was simply, "Well of course it does! That's where we keep our money!" I learned that the store is actually a historical landmark and all the workers are actually volunteers. Profits go back into the store to keep it up and running. I will definitely be back. It would be a good place to find something for the person who 'has everything'. It will also be a fun place to take an out of town guest. It's even a great place to just window shop.

Yelp
The customer service was atrocious. There was an older redheaded lady who watched myself and my two very young daughters like a hawk like we were trying to steal stuff and all we wanted to do was walk in and take a look around and possibly buy a toy or two but they made me feel very uncomfortalik didn't want me in there so I left instead of making a purchase. Very much do not recommend it was very unprofessional

Yelp
Wow, this place is WAY impressive. It's like time tripping, because you're in an original hardware store from 1915 or so, with original shelving, floors, etc. The open elevator is used as display space, the hardware bins contain kewl antiquish merchandise, and the ancient giant manual cash register still works, and is used to ring up your purchases. This feels like the real deal, kinda like what Cracker Barrel restaurants and retail stores try to be. Harrison Brothers gets it right, probably because they are actually a non-profit.

Yelp
Harrison Brothers is great. They are a historical landmark, and there is a cool mix of original merchandise and higher-end home and personal care items. It's worth a walk-through just to see the architecture and floor-to-ceiling walls of antique inventory and Huntsville history. The staff is very warm and attentive; I was surprised to learn that they are all volunteers and the proceeds from Harrison Brothers goes to keep it alive and maintained. I purchased five small items; when I got home (over an hour away) my mother-in-law wanted a set of them, too. When I called to see if they could ship a dozen of them to me, there was no problem at all. I was as warmly received and attended as I had been at the store, and about a week later I had the goods in my hand. Not too shabby for a place that isn't typically mail-order oriented. They were happy to accommodate, and I'll be happy to support them with my dollars in the future!

Yelp
The volunteers were great and helpful! Yes you read right the place is run by volunteers. It is a great historical site and bring back a lot if memories. Items are unique and they are one of a kind supporting artists all over the country. Loved everything about the store. Don't forget to donate even if you don't buy anything to keep this gem alive.
