We wanted to eat close to or around the Selena memorial and decided on this restaurant. I was apprehensive of coming here because of its 3 1/2 stars along with some of the reviews. I wasn't sure if it was going to be good, thankfully I was wrong!
We went on a Sunday evening around 7, and it wasn't busy at all. I think with school starting the week or following weeks, it seemed a bit slow. We were seated immediately by some very nice hostesses.
They sat us on the floating area towards the back of the restaurant which is incredibly nice! The hostess gave us a tip to save some French fries or bread to throw at the fishes on the side of the restaurant as a little treat for the kiddos!
The ambiance is really nice with seating outside. They have nets to try and keep the birds away. Beautiful scenery for a nice meal!
Our waitress Robyn (Robin) was very nice, informative and you can tell she works very hard at her job! She was attentive, quick and no matter whatever we threw at her, she handled it with care and grace!
What we ordered:
Chips & Queso: came out fast and piping hot! My great nephew, who is THE world's pickiest eater, tore this Queso up!! It comes with chunky tomatoes, and we couldn't tell if there was anything else in it because all the kids just ate it up! It was very good, just not enough!! Wish there were free refills :-)
Mahi Mahi tacos: we got it blackened and it was excellent with the mango salsa! The fries were crispy and seasoned great!
Bill's Burger: my son said it was juicy and an excellent burger. He's a hamburger connoisseur! He ate the entire thing and said it was really good!
Salmon with mango salsa: the salmon was cooked perfectly. It was blackened and seasoned to perfection! The mango salsa gave it an extra brightness and acid to the dish. The rice pilaf and green beans were good too! I'm not a fan of these kind of green beans because they tend to be rubbery to me but they were perfectly cooked and seasoned! I've been trying to eat less but I couldn't help but clean my plate in one sitting!
Redfish Casino: this dish packed a punch, not only because the fish and lobster were cooked and seasoned perfectly but the hollandaise sauce took it to another level! We could have bathed in this sauce! My husband, puts salt on everything but he didn't have to with this dish, which is amazing! My daughter ate most of his lobster because she loved it! He cleaned his plate!
Pasta Alfredo w/shrimp: my great nephew and daughter split this dish because he's just a toddler and my daughter is 8. Again, my great nephew is the pickiest eater I've ever met but he tore through this pasta like it was candy!!! My daughter, at first glance, wasn't impressed but once I mixed it and she tasted it, she said it was amazing! I had some of her shrimp and I know sometimes it's hard to pack any flavor into a shrimp unless it's cooked and bathed in a sauce/rub but this shrimp was excellently seasoned! My tastebuds were happily impressed!
I'm not sure why this restaurant has 3 1/2 stars because the service, the ambiance and more importantly the food was on point! I would highly recommend this place if you're around the area! It's right down the street from the Selena memorial as well! Great food, excellent area to walk around before or after your meal!
