Yelp
This has become a favorite spot for California Burritos while in Pacific Beach. My family has been coming to the area for almost 30 years for the Holidays, and I've made a point to get at least two burritos every time down here.
Over the years, I've tried a handful of different local Taquerias and Mexican spots around where we stay. Most of them have been solid, a few not so much. As far as taste goes, Harry's currently has the top spot!
THE SPOT:
This is a hole-in-the-wall ordering window connected to the Cass Street Bar and Grill. We've only come here for lunch, so the Bar was always closed, but available to use the restroom. They have a little patio area with a decent amount of outdoor seating to enjoy your food in the sun. They have their own signage, which is unmistakingly black, white, and pink!
THE FOOD:
Hear me out, this is BY FAR the most expensive California Burrito I've ever had ($13.99), but it's also the best. First and foremost, they use seasoned fries. Game over. When I get a CA burrito, I don't want steak fries or super thicc fries. I don't want the burrito to taste more like potato than carne. The meat itself is cooked well and is very flavorful.
There is also an option for a Surf & Turf (Steak n' Shrimp) Cali Burrito. This is +$2 from the OG Cali, but it was 100% worth it. The first bite I took was absolutely bursting with flavor! It was juicy and delicious. There also was no shortage of shrimp, which is always nice to see!
I noticed they also have Carne Asada Fries, and given that they use deliciously seasoned fries, this is something I would try in the future!
Added a side of chips and guac ($5.99). Solid, but nothing to write home about. They also have 3 special sauces, so make sure to get them with your order! There is a red sauce, an orange chipotle sauce, and a white (creamy horseradish?) one.
To drink, I ordered a watermelon Agua Fresca. I opted for the large, and was happy I did. It was fresh and refreshing! They have other flavors like Cantaloupe, Pineapple, Strawberry, though I think it varies day to day. They also have Horchata, as well as Jarritos and Mexican bottle sodas.
Harry's has cemented itself as an official stop during our Holiday travels to PB. I'm already craving this burrito again...
