La Jolla Diner Harry’s Coffee Shop Expands to Del Mar - Eater San Diego

"Tentatively set to open on Labor Day weekend, Harry’s Taco Club will serve up tacos in Elixir’s old spot. They’re currently applying for a beer and wine license for the taco shop; meanwhile, margaritas, beer, and wine can be ordered at the Americana restaurant location a couple of doors down where Harry’s has a full liquor license. The Mexican restaurant already has existing locations in Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, and the East Village." - Helen I. Hwang

The cook told me he did my order up proper and he wasn’t kidding. SO GOOD! Both the Cali Burrito and Shrimp Taco were really good. The sauces were really good too. Only thing I thought needed improvement was the guacamole on the shrimp taco could have used more citrus. Cashier was really nice a well. I would definitely come back next time I’m in the area.

Harry’s Taco Club was the perfect spot to stop after the beach. We got the battered fish tacos, and the steak tacos. Both were so delicious! They also have a yummy spiked lemonade they make on hand. I highly recommend this spot for some amazing tacos and beach views!

The guys working there were having so much fun and the Bean Cheese and Rice Burrito was seriously one of the best I have EVER had in SD and I am a native. It's roasted and the sauces?!?!?! 12/10. Going back when they are open on Tuesday!!

This place is a hidden gem with fantastic drinks, a cool vibe, and friendly service. The food is incredible, and Adil and Eva are so welcoming—they’ll make you feel right at home. It’s the perfect spot to catch a game—low-key, fun, and always a great time!

Google
Order taker was good, he asked us “for here or to go” they gave us a table number but we had to go and get our food and at the beginning he said “I will bring to your table “. The burger was to salty like you can even eat it. Horchata water was okay. Cleanliness must be a priority as well. Btw. Only spicy sauces available.

Yelp
Wow so good! I've had Octopus Taco $6.79 & Northern Tijuana Taco $6.79 and they were very delicious and satisfying. Don't forget to get horchata drink too! Similar to their sister restaurant (or should I say brother restaurant) across the street Mike's Taco Club, the menu are identical as well as the prices. Similar set up, equally awesome. Very cozy ambiance even though most of their seatings are outdoor. I highly recommend you to try their carne asada, they know what they're doing. Friendly and courteous people as well.

Yelp
Stopped by Harry's after a great day at the beach. It's located 1/2 block from the sand. Adil greeted us as we walked in and took our order promptly. My wife got two grilled fish tacos and I got two steak tacos. We added chips, salsa and a spicy margarita. Amir was efficient and very personable. Our tab came to a cheap $43.75. The vibe inside is definitely beach-sports bar. Very loud 70's rock filled the air and there were nine TVs, 10 bar stools and eight tables with uncomfortable benches built for wet, sandy butts. The restrooms were very bright and clean, which was unexpected for a beach bar. Towards the back of the bar was a dartboard and huge chalk walls to doodle or keep score. Our chips arrived soon and our lunch arrived in 10 more mins. The chips were thick and came with a big tub of guac. I asked for salsa and Adil brought pico de gallo, red salsa, habanero salsa and chipotle salsa for us to savor. Although the habanero dip didn't have much flavor, the rest of them were just incredible. The tacos were beyond expectations. We had incredible fish tacos decades ago and have been searching for something comparable ever since. We found them. The fish was grilled perfectly, the seasoning was spot on and the portions were abundant. My steak tacos were also the best I've ever had, which presents a problem: which do I order next time at Harry's, the steak or the grilled fish tacos? That's a problem I love to have. Great food, outstanding service and affordable!

Yelp
Perfect place to come after a swim or fishing . Literally steps away from the beach and pier. Me and my buddies came here after swimming and we were all starving. We all got shrimp ceviche it was yummy. The cool thing it's attached to a bar, and you can have your drinks on the front patio !! I got the pink pony drink which was amazing ! Cass street bar is the name attached to it. We each got a trifecta taco which comes with fish, shrimp, and scallop so tasty ! Then I got an order of carne asada fries to share with my buddy, it was a unique carne asada fries bc the guac and pico weren't on the fries or the meat it was off to the side. That way you can taste how flavorful the carne asada is ! My buddy got the mushroom burger and made it a double he loved it ! Can't wait to come back here next week!

Yelp
It's been a while since I've been in Ocean Beach, but to my surprise today: Harry's Taco Club is here! I knew about it being in Pacific Beach thanks to the Instagram page "San Diego Humor..." & decided today's the day I'll try it out. They are also conjoined with Cass Street Bar. I came here with my aunt and she ordered the battered shrimp (asked for non spicy) taco and I got the beer battered fish taco. Recently, I don't mind eating onions on my taco. But the onions this time were very pungent and they weren't yellow onions, but red! Quite different I think. She said it was a solid taco. I also enjoyed my beer battered fish taco. I liked the cabbage, the pico de gallo, and the sauces they gave us. Although, I do wish they gave some more! It was no bigger than a 2 inch cup. They had the green sauce, chipotle, and a red salsa. I hope that they could put them into squeeze bottles (with caps) next time so we could enjoy it to the fullest! (Very yummy!) The price for 1 beer battered fish taco was ~$5.75 so nearly $6! I dunno about you, but that feels steep! We sat on the makeshift outdoor patio. The long table was on wheels so it moved every-so often, if there's a locking feature on the wheels -- I'd say please apply that! If I'm comparing the places in Ocean Beach, I'd go to Nico's for the breakfast burrito. And then here-- for a taco or a Cali burrito (I have not yet tried it, but will next time). They also have Jarritos and house made agua frescas that I surely will taste next time I come.

Yelp
Hands down THE BEST CALIFORNIA BURRITO in SD!!! The bartenders/servers are always super nice too. Love the whole menu too. Great food!!!

Shanna E.

Yelp
Yes, it's a taco spot but the burgers are better than Hodads! So much flavor and not impractical to eat. Service was on point. Cooked to perfection!

Mike B.

Yelp
They dont take cash at harrys. Insane policy to have. Would never eat here again. I would not recommend this place to anyone

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at this taco club last night! Many restaurants were closed in the area even before 9:00 when they were supposed to be open! Harry's was happy to service us and we had the best burritos and tacos really recommend the steak tacos or burritos! Best we've had!!

Yelp
The tacos here are outstanding! So authentic and remind me of how my grandmother cooked hers! The salsas and guacamole are spot on too! We did not have to wait long for food or drinks! It's a casual Ocean Beach vibe as you just walk up and order at the window; easy and relaxed! Street parking is free too!

Yelp
Delicious! Every time I get a surf and turf burrito, it is so fresh and delicious. We went to the one on volitare street, and my husband and I end up splitting it because it is so big. The service is great, however it's really just Togo only. The sit down one is closer to the beach.

Yelp
This is a convenient quick-eat spot with indoor and outdoor seating. I made their Veggie Burrito vegan by ordering it with no cheese and no sour cream. It was very generous in size and hot, though nothing to write home about--just enough to get the job done between beers during the OB Oktoberfest.

Yelp
lol I walked up thinking this was a place that had same font, same style to menu board but I will say this was a pleasant surprise. Service is incredible. I think I met the owner and he was very very nice. Ambiance is nice. They treat you like family which is cool and food was solid. Something worth checking out

Megan R.

Yelp
The best the best the besttttt veggie burritos. Service is friendly and food is quality.

Taylor I.

Yelp
Food is delicious and service is great! Happy hour everyday from 3-6pm which is awesome! Came on a Saturday and didn't have to wait long. Very chill vibes.

Yelp
I have been going to Harry's coffee shop in La Jolla for years. Had so much fun trying their tacos at Harry's taco club in Ocean Beach. Best taco I've ever had! I had the battered fish taco and it is worth going into Oshyn Beach for! And another fun treat is that it is attached to Cass Street Bar. So unique inside very cool environment. Great job, Harry and family.

Jessica B.

Yelp
Burrito was decent, but I highly recommend you DO NOT get the sangria, it was so gross I couldn't even drink it. Also a bit confusing that they have the full menus posted where you can order outside even though you can't order off them from there. Overall okay but feels very corporate and not particularly special

Will C.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Highly recommend the California burrito. I will definitely be making this a usual whenever Im in town.

Yelp
This is a really good taco shop. My husband ordered the cali burrito and says it's one of the best he's had. The fries were crisp, and there was a generous portion of tender steak to boot. I had a carne breakfast burrito without fries. It was delicious! It's probably the best breakfast burrito I've had. The only criticism would be it was light on guacamole. The smoky chipotle sauce is a nice complement as well. Everyone was very courteous and friendly!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious. Please open 5 locations in LA. San Diego calimex puts Los Angeles to shame. Scallop taco and carne breakfast burritos are A++++

Yelp
I tried the trifecta taco and it was most satisfying. I would definitely try this place out and sit outside.

Genevieve S.

Yelp
This was my favorite taco in the area and I tried quite a few. The lemonade with white rum was so good and the tacos were full and flavorful steak and shrimp. Friendly service and terrific food.

Jenni H.

Yelp
Just had lunch here and had the Northern Tijuana tacos and the chicken baguette. They were both AMAZING! If everything else if anywhere near as good as those, then you cannot go wrong!

Mark M.

Yelp
Pro Tip: why wait in that cramped line across the street at Mike's Taco Club when Harry's Taco Club is the same exact thing, same owner? And, Harry's has a badass full-service sports bar inside! Their bar serves those frozen drinks my girl loves, too. Great California burrito, great frozen margaritas and pina coladas, sports are on the tv and they have trivia night and stuff. Same food as Mike's but much more fun and comfortable seating. Check it out.
