The 38 Best Restaurants in Copenhagen, Denmark | Eater

"When former Tartine head baker Richard Hart made his Copenhagen debut in 2018, the lines snaked around the block. By all accounts, he exceeded expectations with his super-seeded rye bread and signature “city loaf” sourdough. Hart now works in Mexico (though he remains a co-owner at Hart Bageri), so Talia Richard-Carvajal calls the shots as head baker. There are 10 locations in total now, but it all started at the original premises on Gammel Kongevej, which remains busy. The Basque cheesecake is a killer, best messily scooped up with a spoon, according to Hart. As for savory options, the kimcheese sandwich is loaded with house-made kimchi and aged local cheese." - Anna Norström

Google
Another great place to visit in Copenhagen. Fortunately, you can find many Hart Bakeries in CPH, but this one has a special atmosphere, located right by the water. On a sunny day, sitting outside on a beach chair, enjoying the sun with a nice coffee; these simple but unique moments are the ones I truly enjoy. Of course, their pastries, cakes, and sandwiches are all outstanding.

The chocolate chestnut cake is delicious the cake base's texture is moist but a bit like very dense bread. The chestnut topping is lovely. Even the birds are attracted. Not enough indoor seats in the winter, although my coat is windproof enough for me to sit outdoor and it was a glorious day, it would be nice to have more seats.

Hart Bakery was gem during our time in Copenhagen. The croissants were some of the best we’ve ever had perfectly flaky, buttery, and full of flavour. Every pastry and baked item looked and tasted incredible. The cozy, relaxed vibe made it the perfect stop for breakfast or a mid-morning treat. Easily one of the highlights of our trip and a must-visit for anyone who loves great pastries

An absolute gem of a place! Was recommended by friends living in the city. We came on our last morning in Copenhagen and had the amazing famous cardamom bun / croissant and picked many other things including the lemon poppy seed cake. Wow. What great pasties, bread and baked goods. Everything was perfect and went so well with a cappuccino! The staff were incredible too! Definitely coming back!

Perfection! We ate many different sweet treats and one savory tart here and all were amazing. Super fresh, tasty and delicious. Really friendly service that was very efficient. We dined inside (which was lovely and cosy) but there was plenty of seating outside also. Great location with lovely views to just relax and enjoy.

Lovely place to enjoy coffee. The barista was excellent, such a genuinely nice person. I used the restroom after getting my coffee, and since it was cold outside, the coffee became cold as well. I asked him if he could steam it to make it hot again, as I hadn’t even opened it. Instead, he made a fresh hot coffee for me. Definitely recommend sitting outside in nice weather to enjoy great coffee and the view.

Google
Hart has become a Copenhagen institution, and it’s easy to see why. They’ve got several locations around the city, and no matter which one you go to, the quality is consistent. Their style leans more toward laminated and flaky pastries, and they really nail it. The croissants and other layered pastries are buttery, crisp, and just really well made. I also enjoyed their cinnamon roll, which had a nice balance of sweetness and texture. Beyond pastries, their breads are excellent too, with a depth of flavor that shows the care they put into fermentation. The coffee is solid as well, making it a good all-around stop whether you’re after breakfast or just a quick pastry and coffee. The shops themselves feel modern but approachable, and it’s clear the focus is on the craft.

Kimcheese sandwich took 4-5 mins to prepare, was good 👍 cashier was very kind. I think it is self-sevice cafes like most of them in Denmark. There are 6 tables for 12 people inside, but many more tables outside, and on canal side

Yelp
We stopped into the Hart Bageri location near Reffin and loved the experience. The space has that clean, Scandinavian charm and smells like pure pastry heaven. We had a patisserie that was beautifully made: rich, chocolatey and creamy. You can tell the bakers here care deeply about their craft. We're definitely hoping to get there earlier next time to snag their famous cardamom pastry, which had already sold out by the time we arrived. If you're in Copenhagen, this spot is absolutely worth a detour. Just don't sleep in, the best stuff goes fast!

Yelp
Maybe the best cheesecake I think I've ever had? The cardamom croissants were delicious, but I prefer a more classic bun. The Spandauer center was also perfectly creamy and would highly recommend

Yelp
This was the best pastry I had in Denmark. It was so crispy and flaky. The cream cheese filling was divine. The coffee was decent as well. All the stars for Hart.

Yelp
I'd heard so much about Hart and it was an honor to visit in person. The cardamom croissant was divine and not overwhelming. Just everything was so soft and buttery, always worth the visit.

Yelp
Loved this spot for a casual lunch/coffee/pastry vibe. Such a nice view next to the docks and a good amount of seating. The coffee is really good and this place has the only oat milk I've ever liked. Wish I knew the brand actually, haha. Spandauer was super yummy and sandwich was also solid. 4/5 only because I reserve 5 stars for bakeries that have exceptionally impressive pastries.

Yelp
My husband had read about this place so we tried it out. It's small but mighty. We had a tomato/olive tart, pan au chocolat, a fudgey skinny eclair-but-better thing, and a chevre and leek quiche. We clearly over-ordered but everything was capital D Delish.

Yelp
I love how vibrant this place is. Such a lovely terrace, overlooking water. You can just sit down on a folding chair and enjoy your coffee with a lovely view. Hands down the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had. And I've had a lot in my time.

Yelp
Breakfast at Hart Bageri Holmen is a delightful, simple affair. The fresh sourdough bread paired with local cheese is perfection in every bite. If you're craving a taste of authentic Danish breakfast, this cozy spot is a must-visit!
