Hart’s, Cervo’s, and the Fly Team Launch Minnow: a Tinned Seafood Brand | Eater NY

"Opened in 2016 by restaurateurs Nialls Fallon, Nick Perkins, and Leah Campbell, I saw Hart’s quickly gain intense fanfare in the neighborhood and beyond; one of the first dishes they put on the menu was a lamb burger with anchovies. During the pandemic Hart’s pivoted to operate as a general store selling wine, in-house sandwiches, ricotta, and pantry items like vinegar, oils, and hard-to-find citrus—an experience that made the team enjoy being part of their customers’ at-home cooking, though they say they have no intention of pivoting back to that model. The team has since launched an in-house line of tinned fish called Minnow (launching January 24), selling tinned salmon, sardines, and cod liver directly from their website and in their restaurants at prices ranging from $8.99 to $13.99, with plans to expand into other preserved goods and wholesale." - Emma Orlow

Google
Stumbled upon this cute bookstore during a day of exploring downtown ! They offer a wide variety of genres, some dvd’s, old video games, crystals, and more ! I bought a poetry book and Persuasion by Jane Austen for $4 total ! Prices are very fair, handcrafted jewelry and trinkets are available, LGBTQ friendly, and the attendant was very sweet and helpful. He even gave my bf and i free candy and bracelets. 100% will be coming back soon and will start buying all my books from here 💌

Kenny gave us great customer service! Very unique items and really affordable. It was a great place to visit with my daughters. They were able to get some books and a little crystal rocks.

I called about some romance books for a friend and had no idea what I was doing. I called to see if they could gather a bunch of them for me. When I got there, Tinny had a big bag of all the best romance novels he could find. He saved me so much time and stress. I am so thankful I came to this bookstore!

Harts Haven is a wonderful bookstore. I've been going there for years. Good books and great prices. Say hello to the manager Kenney. He's always very helpful.

This has been my go to place for several months now and I can truly say that this place is such an underrated gem. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, some of the kindest people ever. This literary oasis is always stocked with classics, old books, and so much more, I have never left empty handed in these last several months. Hart’s Haven has become one of my happy places.

Google
Cutest little downtown bookstore! Went here for two events with Rogue Fest for the English dept at Fresno State, definitely did not disappoint. Better books than you might expect for a used bookstore, and even better cashiers at the front. Plus, if you go at the right time, the cutest little orange kitty likes to wander around and get pets 🥰🐱

Fair pricing. Fairly good selection of science fiction. Friendly and helpful staff. Most of the books in my photo came from this store.

Yelp
After going to Powells in Portland, I've been wanting to do a local bookstore tour of Fresno so I stopped by Hart's Haven. Hart's Haven is no Powells, you won't have to browse for hours. It's very small (about 500 sqft, 2 rooms of books) with a jazzercise studio in the back. They have nice antique settees in both rooms. $2 for paperback and $4 for hardcover. The guy in the front was very kind. Since they have a jazzercise studio in the back, I think they should do speakeasy events there for book lovers since they have a nice enclosed parking- Bridgeton High Tea..., twilight dinners...A You marathon... Hunger Games costume party.... crafting with books.. I've never read Twilight, but since I was just in Oregon, I have to read or watch the twilight series now, but they did not have the book. They take donations so if anyone wants to donate twilight, lemme know! I had exactly $6 cash so I got myself a C.I.A. cookbook (Culinary Institute of America) because I collect cookbooks. Anthony Bourdain, Roy Choi (I ate at his restaurant, Best Friend in Las Vegas) & Grant Achatz (I dream of one day eating at his Michelin Starred restaurant, Alinea in Chicago) graduated from C.I.A. I also got a brand new paperback from Target- Love, Naturally. I am a little behind on my reading because life has taken me on a hell of a ride this year.

Yelp
Walked in and was greeted by who I assume is the owner - very friendly guy. The prices were very fair ($2 for paperback, $4 for hardcover unless otherwise marked), and there is a decent range of genres (mystery, historical, sci-fi, etc.), though you shouldn't expect to find a specific book you had in mind. If you're feeling adventurous or want to try something new, they also have 'mystery books'! Those were $10 and come with goodies like pens, bookmarks and candy Definitely coming back!

Yelp
It's closed on Monday, and it's on a 1 way street. This said "it's open" but it is NOT. I will try again, it looks like a great place

Yelp
Had a ton of fun! I found lots of great books! Loved looking at all their cool crystals, and all the old sci-fi paper backs! The prices were really good too!

Yelp
My family and I came across this bookstore because of their 3 dollar box of books sale. Any book in the entire site is fair game so we drove down to fill a box up, because in my house books are as good as gold and man books are not cheap. The store us a little bit hidden and we actual passed it at first and you have to park on the street but it was well worth it. The new owner of the business (just changed owners July 4th) is trying to make room for new inventory so that is why the books she had are so cheap. The selection was not the best, childrens, non fiction, and cooking were very lacking in selection but the fiction was quite large and we had no problem filing up or box. The store itself is older and could use a little TLC but that's part of charm if an independent book store. Once the new inventory is in I well definitely be back.

Yelp
Went here today for the first time, and so glad I did. I can spend hours in a bookstore just browsing, and the owner here (I believe her name was Shirley) was helpful and attentive, but not so much that I felt rushed. The place is huge, and yes, it's a little disorganized, but not so much that you can't find what you're looking for. Hart's Haven has the cheapest prices I've found off the internet. I got a ton of great cookbooks for $1 or $2 each. All in nice condition. I definitely will become a regular here, and hope they're in business for a long time.

Yelp
Cute little bookstore. Got an entire box of books for $10! Some of the books were literally brand new and looked to be never used. Had a great variety of both fiction and non-fiction books. Will be coming back to satisfy my reading needs!

Yelp
The book selection was lovely. The staff there was so nice and greeted me the second i entered. I recommend this bookstore if you want cheap books. The prices were absolutely crazy good. I took home 9 books for only 15 dollars. Most places sell one book for that price. I will 100% come to this store again and you should too!!

Yelp
I went for the first time today and this place has one over a new fan. The owner is an absolute sweetie who is attentive and knowledgeable. Wonderful time to go spend a quiet hour exploring her many books. You will definitely find something you like and prices are good.

Yelp
Kenny is very nice. I purchased a book I can really use for one dollar. I highly recommend this bookstore.

Yelp
what a fantastic shop! They even have the latest local authors books like California's Gold Rush Bandito! by; Kelley Cadwallader. The true history of Early Calif, and the bandito Joaquin Murrieta's escapades throughout the state. Much of that story is 165 yrs old and about the central valley area. A must read for any historian. KUDOS! to the new proprietor's.

Yelp
Hart's Haven is a great used book store inside a converted home. Wall to sealing books room's upon room's. I think it is run by a bunch of older women. Good prices. Don't support the chains shop used and save your self some money!

Yelp
Hart's Haven is quite simply the best used book store in Fresno. I'm not sure what alternate dimension Hart's Haven "Gus" went to, but I assure you he's never set foot in the actual Hart's Haven. The store is clean, well organized and stocked full of books at bargain prices. I have been a loyal customer for a decade now and visit the store at least twice a month. The lady who owns Hart's Haven is very approachable and knowledgeable about books. If she doesn't have something in stock, she makes every effort to get whatever book you want. Yes, she often has friends visiting the store and they typically converse about a great many things, but she always asks if you need assistance and is always happy to answer any questions you may have. The sitting area and her light hearted chats with friends contribute to an overall homey feel to the store and make the atmosphere much more relaxed and enjoyable. On many a day I've visited the store and walked out with a half dozen new reads for under five dollars. And these aren't books with dog-eared pages, missing covers or scribbling on the pages. The books are in really good condition. Gus seems to have been more preoccupied with eavesdropping on other people's conversations then in actually examining the store. Maybe he works for the Book Barn? Who knows? All I can say is that, I am a lifelong resident of the Fresno-Clovis area. And I have shopped at numerous used book stores here. Valley Book Center, The Book Nook, etc. And Hart's Haven is my go to shop when I really want a new read on the cheap, and I want to be reasonably sure I'll find it and find it in good condition.

Yelp
I went to Hart's last week after reading in the Fresno Bee about the store and new owner. I was not disappointed! I was greeted as soon as I walked in by the owner who is extremely knowledgable and talked to you like see knew you and genuinely happy you stopped by. She asked if I was looking for something specific and where in the store each section were and allowed me to browse at ease. I spent a good hour looking around, finding such a great variety of genres and books that were more recent too! I ending up filling a $3 box(I believe this is for July only, August 1st is the re-grand opening with 100, 000 more books on the way!) and was amazed at the high quality of each book, many which appeared to be in great condition. I went during a weekday so I was able to roam freely without much of a crowd, I believe Saturday is the busiest day, but still enough room even if there is a crowd to browse. Great local bookstore...the only thing I would recommend is hopefully a larger selection of audio books in the future.
