Haru Sushi Bar

I want to come back again! Everything, absolutely everything was super delicious! I am very picky when it comes to food, tuna and octopus are always my favorites. But today there was such salmon that it pushed all the other dishes. The service is correct, the cocktails are delicious, the price is reasonable. We sat near the bar and watched the whole team work. We have all watched enough talk shows and know what is acceptable and what is taboo in the kitchen. So, well done guys. From the position of the hands, sharpening knives, freezing “without work” in your position. We will 100% be back while we still have the chance.

Amazing sushi, the chefs work seamlessly in front of you and it’s really amazing to watch. The waitress forgot few times our order but she was very kind, the whole experience was amazing, best sushi in Rio. Beer was amazing. You need to try the scallop special 2 pieces, it melts in your mouth!

Good sushi place, at least by Rio’s standards. They have a nice Japanese vibe, I saw similar places in Tokyo and Kyoto. However, the service could have been better, on the bill we found some positions we hadn’t ordered. Still, I can recommend this restaurant if you’re in Rio craving for sushi.

Coming from São Paulo where Sushi is much much better. I have to say that this restaurant did quite well for Rio standards. I liked the interior design, it has a very Japanese-like vibe. Went there during the week so the waiting line wasn't huge, however can imagine getting crowded during the weekend. I definitely recommend this place if you want to try sushi in Rio. The price was about 100-120 per person.

Located very close to Av. Atlantica, this is a place where everyone can find something to enjoy. You notice quickly that they are all about quality as the delivery service is even busier than the terrace and the inside area. Truth be told, I visited them on a rainy Sunday afternoon as can be certain on a sunny day, they are pretty busy / full given the high quality of the food they prepare and serve. Sushi is an art and you don't mess it up. Haru team does better, so much better. The salmon roe rolls were something I would have eaten until falling off the chair, though was not there only for that :) Quality of food is excellent, staff very kind and well knowledgeable of the menu. When I ordered the mango sushi with mango sorbet the waiter apologised for not having the sorbet anymore and ask if I was considering changing since they would not be able to offer what is on the menu. Quite something as usually is a bit of take it or leave it but not at Haru. Highly recommend the place for a great sushi experience.

Amazing experience in the best Japonese restaurant in Rio! The quality of the fish, the perfect cooking of the rice, the architecture intimist makes this japonese “ the place to go”! I was in jet lag so eat at 15h pm was perfect ( they close at 16pm at lunch time) highly recommended

Tokyo comes to Rio... and what a great place to visit to savour the true flavours of Japanese cuisine. It's easy to miss the entrance as its not what I was expecting.. though once upstairs and inside the main establishment its definitely something to savour for the senses. Although it has a extensive selection of sashimi and sushi freshly prepared by the best trained chefs.. the decision was to try the more authentic dishes on offer such as Edamame.. Katsu and Ramen. There was no disappointment whatsoever with the authenticity of the meals as well as presentation and ambience created in an environment that is if anything a fraction dark. The initial service was bordering on arrogant.. however by moving to another table with more light.. the new waitress was excellent with a charming demeanour. I would not hesitate to return and try more of the extensive menu

It's casual and small - I sat on the street by the small bar and kinda in the main traffic way. The layout is interesting like it is coupled together - a half floor up is the indoor seating, second floor is a teppanyaki and the bathroom.....a bit strange to barge in on the teppanyaki dinner happening to go to the bathroom. As far as the reason to go - the sushi - I can't speak for there being better sushi in Copacabana, it was OK, but there are better places in Gavea, Leblon, and Ipanema that are not as convenient as this location but not inconvenient. As others have noted, the service was fast and friendly.

I am always in the mood for sushi and found this place through Google Maps. It's a casual environment. I saw that they had some seats inside but I wanted to people watch outside so we sat in their small fenced-in area. If you're not a fan of eating roadside, the inside area is better for you. Service was attentive, and prompt. What really takes the cake here though is the sushi for sure. I ordered the combinado mix especial - I was pleasantly surprised with the quantity and quality of the sushi. For R$98 (around $23 USD), it's a reasonable price. I would come back here on a future visit!

I very impressed with everything we got. Me & my boyfriend love sushi & have gone to many sushi places back at home in California, but this sushi was the best we've ever had. Came to Brazil for a week & came back to this place twice already! The fish taste very fresh & is prepared very delicately, the gyozas are filled up nicely. I would definitely recommend this place, from appetizers to dessert 10/10. Hopefully we get to come back again.

Definitely recommend. Reliably good food. Ambiance: Nice enough outside but a little crowded inside. Not a huge number of tables so it probably gets full often. Service: Friendly and attentive. Food: I went twice and tried a number of different choices and all were very good. From rolls to sashimi to combos it was all delicious. Price: Very reasonable, especially compared to a comparable quality restaurants in other countries. I don't usually visit places twice when having a limited time touring a city but this one was so good that I couldn't resist. And it's definitely a good break from steakhouses.

Glad I took my friends suggestion and ate here. The sushi was fresh and the dining experience was great. My girlfriend is Japanese and thought the taste was on par with what she is familiar with back in Tokyo. We will definitely come again on our next visit

Brazil is known for amazing BBQ, but after a whole week dining on meat meat meat and more meat, I was dying for some fish! So glad to find this little gem just around the corner from my hotel. No English (or Japanese) menu, so unfortunately I did not find any of the professionally photographed dishes that were in these Yelp photos... but ordered the salmon combination and yaki soba, both were fresh and delicious.

Hole in the wall with only a few tables, casual enough to walk in wearing flip flops and beach gear. Not all that veg friendly but they do offer a few vegetarian apps and rolls, like mushrooms, spring rolls and two veggie maki rolls. No salad or tofu. Ended up getting a mango California roll, where they replaced the usual avocado with mango. It was light and refreshing. The roll and bottled water ran about $9 after service charges. Can't beat that.

Amazing sushi restaurant with a Brazilian twist. This is a small restaurant and most seating is outdoors. The sushi is vey fresh and tasty.
