A small, independent sushi counter that’s earned ink for precise rolls and balanced rice. Phoenix New Times singled out the spicy‑serrano Kiss of Fire roll; regulars come for sashimi platters, friendly chefs, and a neighborhood feel. Online ordering and steady evening service confirm it’s humming.

Google
Haru is a nice, quiet restaurant, nicely decorated. Service was fast but not pushy. I would give the food a 3.5 if I were able. The Korean steak was disappointing, on the bland side, but plenty of it. All dishes were very ample, and we did take some home. Plenty of good miso, and plenty of good cucumber salad. A nice bonus is that you can tailor any dish! Because of the good service and nice atmosphere, the 3 of us enjoyed our time there. We will return, and I would recommend.

Google
10/10 fresh, delicious sushi, Haru never disappoints! It’s always hard deciding what to order, because everything is always delicious. The food is always fresh, & it comes out fast too. The happy hour menu is impossible to beat, too! The staff treats us like family, and remembers our regular orders. Truly a one of a kind restaurant combining excellent prices, an immaculate menu, and impeccable service!

Google
All the Sushi rolls were fantastic! Freshness with every bite. Tried the blue fin tuna roll! Excellent! Also, golden California, spicy tuna, spicy crab rolls, cold sake and blood orange beer!

Google
The best sushi spot hands down. My husband and I are lucky enough to live less than a mile away. Great friendly service, always good music, and most importantly the food is extremely delicious.

Google
Unexpected sushi find on a Sunday night. Great food, great service! Nothing more to add, give it a try you won’t be disappointed. So we came back two weeks later to give a second try because we had such a wonderful experience the first time…. The food was just as good and the service was first class. Had the Wagya special… incredible!

Google
We were in the mood for sushi, and after checking out HARU’s reviews, we decided to try it. I love their sushi! My wife and I enjoyed the “double-double” and “avenger” rolls. We also had the O-toro, and it was perfect! I strongly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for great sushi!

Google
Wow, a hidden gem!! 🍣 ✨ Chef Nick (AZ, represent!) has built an incredible menu and a super fun environment! Buy some sake and share with the sushi Chef's, I dare ya! This place is clean 🫧 and there is no fishy smell at all. We enjoyed the Big Daddy roll, the Paradise roll, the Blue Fin roll, and blue fin, ebi, and horse mackerel Nigri. Everything was very high quality and unique! We will DEFINITELY be back!

Google
The freshest fish you'll find from anywhere I promise you that!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND O'TORO NIGIRI AND UNI. I HAVE NEVER HAD FRESHER UNI THAN HERE🤯

Yelp
Still my favorite sushi spot years later! Freshness Matters Being from Hawaiʻi, I know what real fresh fish tastes like -- and Haru never disappoints. I have never ordered sushi here that wasn't exceptional. Every roll, every piece, always top quality. Service & Atmosphere The service is consistently great, and I love that they're tucked into the corner of a shopping center. Inside, it's calm and cozy -- perfect for a romantic date or a relaxed family dinner ‍‍‍. Appetizers to Crave The gyoza here is bomb -- and the sauce? Hands down the best I've ever had. I honestly want to pour it on everything . The agadashi tofu and seaweed salad are also amazing. Hot Entrees Donkatsu and Korean beef are always flavorful and satisfying. Whether I'm in the mood for a hot dish or sushi, I leave happy (and full). The Vibe I love the low lighting and the beautiful sushi presentation -- it makes you feel a little fancy every time your food arrives. Bottom line: Whether you're here for rolls, apps, or entrees, everything at Haru Sushi is consistently amazing.

Yelp
If you visit Haru Sushi and pay with a credit card, make sure to check your transaction once it's posted. My bill had an unauthorized $8 added, which is how I discovered a recurring issue. I've been a regular customer at Haru Sushi for over six years, starting shortly after Chu opened the restaurant. Later, Andrew took over management, and now Nick is the current manager. I order takeout about 95% of the time, and I typically don't leave a tip for takeout. A few years ago, when Andrew was managing, someone added a $10 tip to my bill without my authorization. Andrew apologized and resolved it professionally, and I appreciated his handling of the situation. Unfortunately, in August 2025, a similar issue happened again -- this time, $8 was added to my bill. I called the restaurant the following Tuesday. The same waitress who had processed my order answered the phone and told me there was nothing she could do because the manager wasn't in. I asked her to take down my contact information and receipt number and to pass the message along to the manager. She agreed, but added, "Fine, but I'm sure we're not at fault." This gave me the impression she might not follow through, so I told her that if I didn't hear back from the manager by Friday, I would dispute the charge with my credit card company. The manager called me on Wednesday, admitted the mistake, and offered to issue a refund -- but with an unusual condition: they wanted a photo of me receiving the $8. While this didn't seem like standard business practice and made me uncomfortable, I reluctantly agreed in order to resolve the issue. When I went in the following Tuesday to pick up a new takeout order and collect the refund, I was told I was no longer welcome at the restaurant. I was surprised but understand that any business has the right to refuse service. Whether this was an honest mistake or not, I'm sharing my experience so others can protect themselves. There's nothing wrong with the food -- in fact, it's some of the best sushi in Peoria. I wouldn't have been such a loyal customer otherwise. I still recommend trying Haru Sushi if you haven't already -- just be sure to double-check your credit card statement to ensure the total matches what you authorized.

Yelp
Food is always amazing and service is excellent! Our family's favorite restaurant. We love the tuna cracker. It's delicious.

Yelp
We went tonight and ate at the sushi bar! The sushi bar is the best because you get your rolls quick and hand delivered :) Haru is our place for sushi, they always are consistent and their fish always tastes fresh. The sushi chefs are great! This is a family owned place and they truly appreciate your business. Chef Nick was even helping with tables tonight (maybe short staffed for how busy it was? Idk)- but that's pretty cool when an owner/manager can step up and help where it's needed! Plus I think he has shown the sushi chefs some of his skills, so they were set up for success while he stepped away for a few minutes! Feedback to management for weekends: switch up the music playlist! Tonight the music was a little slow. A little too somber for a Saturday night ya know!? It's Saturday night! We needed some up beat party music! Something with some good beats!

Yelp
Wish there was a higher ranking on Yelp for this place. We came in search for great sushi and boy did we find a gem in Glendale! Nestled and hidden spot in a shopping center this place put many sushi joints to shame! I am a huge snob when it comes to sushi but Haru knocked it out of the park and I believe we have found a new favorite sushi spot. The sake is nice and hot and smooth and be sure you order an ice cold beer (my preference is Kirin Light) to chase it! We also tried the Ramune soda pop that was a fun way to enjoy a soda straight from Asia! Our appetizers were garlic chili edamame and the very yummy tuna crackers which are a fried rice and spicy tuna combo style treat. We tried a few different sushi rolls and it was so good we had to ask for a menu to order more! Our waitress was very kind and helpful with suggesting which rolls we would like based on cuts of fish we desired. The feast started off with a spectacular Lobster Fire Roll that is served on a skillet and is literally on fire as it is brought to you. Super awesome presentation. The Seared Salmon Roll, a hearty roll with great flavor and freshness of salmon. We also had the spicy tuna roll, Hawaiian Roll, The Screaming "O", and my favorite of them all was the "Kiss of Fire". I could have had everything on their menu but didn't because then my bill would have been looking like the long receipts you get at CVS. The price is a few bucks higher per roll than what I am used to but to be honest it does not break the bank and is definitely worth it! The kids ended up getting a little bit of mochi ice cream as they offer you one for free if you give them a review! (My wife posted one for them as I needed some good time to post this one once we were done). Thanks for amazing experience and see you guys again soon!

Yelp
Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Ambiance 10/10 Fish was so fresh nothing had a fishy aftertaste the salmon roe was so good I had to more orders of it. I usually ask for extra sauce but the fish was so flavorful and sauce combo was so well put together that u don't even need to ask for extra sauce. Will definitely be coming back here for fresh quality fish when I'm back in Arizona. The yellowtail ceviche was a big time hit and the albacore melted in ur mouth like butter. Great service and great ambiance.

Yelp
This was really good. The place is pretty quiet and cozy. Low light and quiet. It was nice. The food was delicious and the sushi was small but good. They have a lot on their menu so definitely wanna come back. Our waitress disappeared for a bit, though, and it wasn't exactly busy lol. But hey things happen.

Yelp
Just visiting AZ from CA! We were craving sushi and I'm lucky we stumbled on this place. We ordered a Big Daddy roll, and a salmon avocado roll. Everything was fresh and our server Jaylen was the sweetest. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Sushi was AMAZING, staff is friendly! The inside in chill and casual, with a small bar. If you order from the main menu, the sushi rolls can get pretty pricey tho. Highly recommend for tasty food and a chill environment!
google avatar

Karen W.

Yelp
Raw fish were fresh and pretty sizable. Lunch specials were smaller portions compared to restaurants in the area. Service were good. The restaurant is at a very convenient location, just off the freeway. Interior is pretty warm and quiet.

Yelp
This restaurant is an absolute gem!! Some of the best sushi of my life!! You seriously cannot go wrong with anything you order here! The omakase is the best choice on the menu! They provide the best selection of fish and amazing toppings that pair so well! Also the staff is so friendly and welcoming you feel like you're talking to an old friend! Chef Nick has put so much attention to detail for the menu it can be difficult to decide but any of the bluefin tuna rolls are a great choice! This is also a great place for a casual but amazing ambiance! Casual but so fun!

Yelp
Our fav local sushi spot! Great service and great food. My kids love the golden California roll
google avatar

Ken R.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Haru and I definitely will come back. I and friend met here and both ordered bento boxes with teriyaki chicken. She had a Golden California roll and I had spicy tuna. Her sushi definitely looked better than mine was. There was nothing wrong with mine, it just was pretty plain, and not super flavorful or spicy. The teriyaki and salad were good, and I really enjoyed the miso soup. We had prompt and friendly service throughout our lunch, and the overall restaurant was comfortable and looked like a sushi spot. There are some unique rolls that I want to try, and plan to go back on a future Tuesday, which I believe they've dubbed Tempura Tuesdays. I think everything is 20% off.

Brian B.

Yelp
Wow. Horrible experience tonight. And, we're regular customers. Ariana screwed up our order. Then she screwed up our bill. Chef Nick ignored us - seemed like he was more interested getting drunk/high at the bar than minding the store. Unfortunate. We probably won't be back. In years past: We've been here about 4 times. Very consistent. Very good. The fish has always been tasty with good portions. The service spot on. Very good happy hour specials. Try their volcano roll (California roll with scallops on top) - very different than other places - in a good way.

Yelp
First time there and just loved the food! Definitely going back there soon! Fresh sushi and service was amazing!

Yelp
Haru is a hidden gem nestled in a quaint shopping center. The second you step in, you enter a dimly lit space with a calm atmosphere. The service here is excellent! Setyo is an incredible waitress who always provides a smile & wonderful service. The absolute star of the show here is the sushi & the chefs who put it all together with great talent and skill. My favorite roll is the Red Dragon, but there are so many fantastic sushi rolls here that it would be difficult for you not to find a favorite! My not-so-secret tip for you is to go on a Monday when they have Happy Hour All day and sit at the sushi bar for a fun chat with the chefs! P.S. - for Happy Hour, it's not just discounts on the drinks but also the food! Enjoy!

Yelp
Ummmm so good! I'm a picky sushi eater and this place is great! The spot we used to go to closed and we were in search of our new fav sushi place and I think we found it! Every roll we had was delish. You gotta try the Flaming Lobster. The service was fast and friendly. and the place isn't too big but it is modern and very clean. Def give it a try!

Yelp
I'm very disappointed to write this review. I have a lunch group and usually have 12 people in attendance. I tested the restaurant out about a month ago, and the food was very good - that is not my issue. I then made a reservation for 12 people, and verified at the time that we could get separate checks. I double checked back about a week ago, and all was still good. So today I call the restaurant to update the number of attendees, and am told that, oh no, we can't do separate checks. I explained to the gentleman I was speaking with that it had been verified/ok'd twice before that we needed separate checks, and if that was not possible we would have to cancel our reservation. He called the owner, Chef Nick, who basically said - too bad we can't do that. The gentleman I spoke with felt bad but there was nothing he could do. The owner would rather loose the business than provide separate checks like we had previously been told were no problem. I was put in an uncomfortable position of having to tell the group that the lunch was canceled. My lunch group only goes to family owned local restaurants - we like to support the community, however when someone can't stand by their word, I choose not to support their business. I won't be back, and I'm pretty sure no one in my group will go there either.

Yelp
This hidden gem is hands down the best sushi! My hubby and I have been looking for a go to sign place in our part of town. We found it! The salmon is so fresh, it's like butter. They have a gray happy hour as well. Good job to Haru. We will be back again and again and again

Joy L.

Yelp
Monday night sushi at Haru has become our tradition! We enjoy the sushi team led by Chef Nick and we enjoy being warmly greeted by Setyo and her associates! The fish is exquisite but so is the lovely environment when you enter into the experience. Grateful that Glendale has such a quality sushi scene! Joy and David

Yelp
Saw this place was ranked top 5 best sushi in the valley and did not disappoint us at all! Excellent sushi and amazing service. Chef Nick and his crew are doing the best. Highly recommend if you're looking for high quality sushi for reasonable price. Would come back for sure

Yelp
The service was great and it took very little time for the food to come out. The server was very nice and helpful when it came down to questions about the menu. Loved the ambiance as well...definitely coming back!

Yelp
Great service! Our dinner made it to the table in great time. We enjoyed the ambience and fresh sashimi.

Yelp
Some of the best sushi around and ever since Nick took over managing it became our favorite little sushi place. Definitely worth trying or making a favorite little gem.
google avatar

Yelp
Best sushi in the west valley. Chef Nick and his team are amazing. It is always the perfect ratio of fish to rice and it is always extremely fresh! The place is also always sparkling clean. Cannot recommend this place enough! Yum!

Yelp
FRUIT-FLIES EVERYWHERE! Horrible accountability and service from management! We sat down, ordered drinks (moscato) and an appetizer and I began to notice the fruit-flies. But my non-confrontational personality told me to give them a shot anyways. We received our glasses, and ordered food. After two sips a fruitfly fell into my glass. I told the waitress, showed her the almost full glass along with the fruitfly in it and she took the glass away and brought me another. No apology, no concern at all. Well, she brings the bill at the end and she's charging me for both moscatos, one at $15 and the other at $11.25. When I ask her about it, she says that they only discounted it because I had already drank some. I told her how I had only taken a sip and showed her at the time that the glass was still full. Showing annoyance she said she'd tell the manager. It's an open counter so we could see the manager upset over the discussion being had. The waitress then comes back and somewhat tosses the bill on the table, showing discontent says, we took it off and walks away. Again, showing no remorse or care for the situation. And instead appearing to be upset at me for bringing it to their attention. I see now there are far better sushi places, AVOID this one.

Ashana L.

Yelp
Our first time, but not our last! Some of the best sushi we've ever had in the valley. We had the oyster mushroom sushi, and the ginger chicken sushi, both of which were scrumptious. Service was excellent and the ambience, casual and comfortable. We felt welcomed on every level. Will definitely return and can highly recommend.

Kevin

Yelp
First of all the staff is friendly but the food is just ok. The chirashi bowl was very good. Katsu chicken does not come with katsu sauce but some strange gravy instead. ChaShu pork is cooked strange. Taste ok but not like it is normally prepared. It's like they haven't figured out what direction to go.

Yelp
So glad we found this place - I have already recommended it to friends. Monday - all day happy hour with great offers! Vegas roll $8!! I think our server was a new server and being that I once served, I won't let that affect my review, plus - she was super nice and helped getting the grandbabies in a nice kid-friendly table. We ordered vegas roll, lobster roll - this was fire!!, yaki soba, chicken/rice dish for kids, garlic edamame, gyoza, and another spicey roll - the name... can't recall, my daughter ordered it and I ate some of hers. Everything was great!! This place is a solid 4 stars.

Vi H.

Yelp
Really good local place. Ultimate toro or bluefin roll are delicious. Fresh selection of fish weekly.

Melinda T.

Yelp
I was excited to try Haru because I was excited to have a good sushi place on the west side. The restaurant is open and clean. The bathrooms (at least the women's) had lotion and mouthwash! The service was good too. All that said, the food failed to meet the expectation of a near 5 star place! We ordered the heart attack poppers, the spider roll, and the sashimi bowl. The heart attack poppers were 2 whole jalapeños, cut in half for 4 pieces. Pretty small for the price in my opinion, but pretty good. The spider roll was not bad too, but it had a tad too much of eel sauce in my opinion and was sweeter than preferred. The sashimi bowl, which I assumed was more of a chirashi bowl, was a big miss. Provided, the description was accurate: "assorted sashimi on top of a bed of rice and salad with Korean spicy sauce". For some reason, I read it as the salad being on the side. Nope. It all came together. The sashimi was chopped up like poke. The Korean spicy sauce was over powering and the whole dish itself was a little fishier than fresh. We didn't end up finishing this because, for us, it didn't work. ...I don't foresee myself coming back here.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!!! Clean atmosphere and always top quality sushi!! The chefs are knowledgeable about all the dishes!!

Yelp
The miso soup and seared salmon belly nigiri was a great way to start off before getting the paradise roll. Highly recommend the food. Great service and nice atmosphere.

Yelp

Yelp
Haru comes highly recommended by Yelp, so we wanted to try it today. There were lot of people dining in on Sunday for lunch which is always a good sign. However, we were bit disappointed. Portion sizes are small so we should've ordered more sushi but we didn't have much time left. The Chicken katsu was delicious. Came out fresh and hot with yummy side of shaved cabbage with nice dressing. However, the gravy came a bit later when we asked for sauce and it was served cold. Probably better off with traditional Japanese katsu sauce. The calamari tempura was also delicious, but the sauce was not tempura sauce, but the egg roll sauce that comes in a jar. Tempura sauce would've been hundred times better. Their hamachi sashimi special was the most disappointing of all. It was slightly fishy. The ponzu sauce hid much of the fishy taste/smell, but we still noticed. I'm sure it was an off day. Our favorite was the poke bowl. This had layers of spicy tuna, seaweed salad, avocado, fresh tuna and shrimp tempura on a bed of sushi rice. Everything about this dish was perfect. We wished we ordered one for everyone at our table. Haru has lot of potential. I would like to try other dishes and update my review. In the meantime, off I go on to more food adventure.

Yelp
Impeccable food, oh my. Some of the best sushi we've ever had! Looks like a little hole in the wall, but when you walk in the place is awesome. Also, the sushi chefs are LEGIT! Great service!
