EDIT July 12, 2025 This review is JUST for the new tables and chairs. I had to take away a star for the lack of comfort now. The staff, food and chefs remain outstanding! We dined in at Harumi tonight, excited to return after their summer break—but unfortunately, the new seating changes were a disappointment. They've replaced the booth seating (which we loved), tables, and chairs, and the new setup feels cramped and uncomfortable. The small round tables are clearly designed for just two people and barely accommodate one or two dishes, which doesn’t suit Harumi’s usual shared-plate dining style. For groups of 4 or more, they’re pushing multiple small round tables together, creating a clumsy and awkward layout. Even at the downtown location they have either perfect squared off tables or large round tables.
The new wicker type chairs are also very narrow and uncomfortable, pinching your thighs and hips at the sides—definitely not designed with comfort in mind. The overall feel is no longer cozy or inviting, and several other diners around us were also visibly unhappy with the new arrangement. Square or rectangular tables would be a much better fit for the space and the dining experience Harumi is known for. We love the food, but the new layout took away from the overall enjoyment.
Original Review: Hands down our favorite traditional style sushi restaurant! The freshest fish! We love the sashimi appetizer, the toro and salmon belly nigiri, the hamachi carpaccio, the oh my God roll, the spicy ahi on sticky rice and the hamachi cama. Reasonable prices. All of their servers and staff are attentive, knowledgeable and just nice people! We love dining here because we know it’s going to be consistently DELICIOUS! We ate an early dinner there today and it was fantastic!
