What a great place! Never had to wait for a table, though bar seats can fill up. They make such a good pizza, service is friendly, and I used to be obsessed with their BDD caramel apple fritter sundae (which I don’t think they offer anymore but I dug up an old pic for reference)

I randomly decided to eat in here and I'm very satisfied with this restaurant. The food is delicious and came out quickly. I had dumplings and the Jack BBQ burger (special) and my partner got the Harvard Garden burger. My server Adelaide was amazing. She noticed my bbq sauce was missing before I did and brought it for me. The service was amazing, atmosphere was great. I would definitely come back to eat here.

Google
A busy and vibrant setting with some delicious food. I could see how people thought it was a little loud, but it did go with the atmosphere. Definitely get a reservation on the weekend. We walked right up and went to our table. Amazing! Service is excellent. We got the nacho and mac and cheese and thought both were ok. For the nacho, some good toppings and a good portion size. Not massive, but enough. The pickled onions were a unique twist that my wife loved. I wish there were more beans on top. The chips were fried in house and delivered that tasty crunch. Did not get it with pulled pork, just plain, so maybe that would have took it to the next level. 3.5/5 stars Mac and cheese is something I am always willing to try, but most of the time get disappointed. This was another disappointment. It was served piping hot, but tasted like plain noodles with a white sauce. My friend who also tried it said it tasted like a bougie variety. But in the end the flavor was lacking, and cheesy would be the last way to describe it. Adding some salt and pepper was definitely needed to make it better. Oh well. 2.5/5 My buddy got the fish and chips and really liked it. Lightly battered and 3 large pieces with fresh fries. Nothing was left over, all gone! Other friends got drinks. The Mai tai was STRONG, but the peach drink was amazing.

Google
Delicious food! Highly recommended the steak tips with garlic mash! Service was a bit slow but understandable since it was a busy Saturday night in Boston during dinner time. Ended the night with a brownie sundae.. you won’t be disappointed.

Google
Great bar with delicious food. Might be the best buffalo chicken wrap I've ever had. I'm an avid French onion soup eater and I really liked theirs as well. Highly recommend. Would come again!

Went here for a lunch-dinner date after a hospital appointment and got steak to celebrate some good health. It was so good! Shoutout to the dedicated gluten free menu, which was very helpful. It’s not cheap — if you order apps and mains you’ll find yourself racking up a bill. I split an app (the gf buffalo cauliflower for $16 I believe) with my boyfriend and we each got an entree and a drink and the bill was about $100 after tip. But damn was that steak good

Google
Stopped in today with friends for lunch. We had a corner booth and an incredibly professional server. Daniela greeted us, made suggestions and helped us focus on what we each wanted for lunch. She is friendly, competent, efficient, and professional. Best burger I have had in a very long while. Her suggestion. Dessert was delicious and this server gets a couple gold stars. Thanks Daniela!

Google
Great spot when you don’t have somewhere to go . Not a big fan of this place I remember a few issues before with attitude from staff. Lots of regulars and a chill vibe aside . Young couples come through for date nights and such but if you want to indulge this is not the place . They do not want your money . You can not purchase a single bottle of wine without someone else present. I finally told her I may drink the whole thing myself pissed off I had mother watching and said you seemed bothered I’ll just have a glass. Guess they have had some mishaps before and I understand but some of us unfortunately can handle our small bottle of wine . The funny part, she never offered me any water . Way to go bud!

Yelp
I've been here a few times and the food was just ok. On our visit last night a Monday in April, everything was great. I had a Guinness that was perfectly poured. The calamari was excellent. We split a burger and a salad. The burger was the steakhouse burger, which was very creative and tasted great. Our server was prompt and attentive. We will return.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink, but the bar was completely packed and our group couldn't get anywhere near it. So, we asked if we could still get a table and just get drinks because it was a little later in the evening. They said no, so he started to leave when, the hostess stopped us from walking out. She said that she was going to ask if we could have one of the empty tables even though we just wanted to get a couple of drinks. Then we were seated and enjoyed a few drinks with good company. Our server was lovely, but that initial experience of being turned away because of the food purchase requirement was a little bit of a turn off. I would have understood if it was prime lunch or dinner time and every table was occupied. Anyway, the drinks were good. Cheers.

Yelp
Come on now. I ordered soft pretzel sticks. Why did I receive pizza crust sticks? $17 no less. Picture speaks for itself. Ate them because I was hungry. Service was great, comfortable seating, and fun night. Wish I had just stuck to drinks.

Yelp
Waiting for my son to have surgery ended up walking and randomly finding this spot for lunch. The nacho cheese was a little suspect and the pulled pork was watery without bbq sauce which was weird. The steak was well marinated but a little too salty. The wings and fish was delicious and the service was great! Wouldn't mind going to back again but wasn't one of my favorites.

Yelp
I came here with a big group for Saturday brunch. One of the few spots in Boston where we were able to book a last minute reservation. They have plenty of seating, so that usually helps. To start, we got the breakfast loaded tots for the table to share. One of the members of our party was vegetarian, so they were able to put the bacon on the side. In terms of the main meal, everyone seemed pretty happy with what they ordered. I got the meatlovers omlette, which was pretty big and came with a nice portion of home fries. The huevos rancheros and eggs benedict also looked delicious. Compared to some other brunch spots in Boston, I'd say this place is solid, but not the best. I would prefer Cafe Luna in Cambridge, but they tend to book up faster and they are a bit more expensive. Next time, I'd like to come back and try some of their more traditional bar food offerings!

Yelp
Dave the bartender is a rockstar!!! Always a pleasant conversation and great service!! Tonight, on a super busy night, I watched him search for 30 minutes to help another customer find a lost credit card. And he did it with a smile on his face the whole time! Well done Dave!!!
google avatar

Debbie M.

Yelp
Food is okay, probably won't come back. I had the buffalo chicken wrap, side salad., wasn't right and had to send it back. Husband had a burger and fries, nothing special.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Good craft beer selection (12 on tap), air conditioning indoors and sunny outdoor area with umbrellas (dog friendly), with Free Wi-Fi. Friendly staff and reasonable prices. Good vegetarian selections including Buffalo cauliflower. Was able to use the Yelp 15% discount for entrees. RC

Yelp
First time at Harvard garden, and it did not disappoint. We came with a large crowd to watch the World Cup and they were able to accommodate us. We got the loaded mimosas, which were really tasty. A Stella promoter also got us all free pints of Stella. Service was friendly and fast. I got the meat lovers omelet, which was good. Nothing special but it did it's job! Home fries were good as well.
google avatar

Rick R.

Yelp
Smells old stale beer when you walk in. Food is uninteresting and not appetizing at all and it tasted like there was nothing fresh. In a word Kraft. I was there June 28th. Have you tasted the mac & cheese lately Michael?
google avatar

Rebecca K.

Yelp
I only recommend this place if you are a visitor or the "other person" of a patient at MGH and you want to get an alcoholic beverage... like a Bloody,... when you've been waiting for your person to get out of a 4 hour surgery! The bloody was actually very delicious! The interior is par and somewhat old and dirty. The ladies room is TINY. I had to wait in my stall until the other person was done using the sink so I could actually maneuver to the sink to wash my hands. I didn't try any food so I can't speak for that but I didn't order any food for a reason. Not sure I would trust the cleanliness of the kitchen.

Yelp
Walked in here solo on a Thursday Night and there was probably about 20ish people dining and drinking in there. It's a vintage (est. 1930) gastropub/dive bar vibe except with a bunch of flatscreens everywhere. I ordered a margherita pizza and fries. The fries were perfectly salted and golden crisp. The Margherita pizza taste good, but the cheese kept falling off. I'm not sure if that's typical with a Margherita pizza?? Overall, there's nothing spectacular to write home about, however it is a good bar with good food.

Yelp
This is my second visit in five years because we aren't often in the area. This time I brought someone different. He got the fish and chips and thought it was the best he'd had. Plenty of slaw which was also great too. I had a salad again and loved it. We recommend it!
google avatar

Paul S.

Yelp
Good local place with regular Bostonians! Food and drink did not disappoint and full of friendly folks! Thank you also to the people of Boston for welcoming this Southern Boy to your city.

Connie D.

Yelp
My husband and I had dinner last night at Harvard Gardens, the closest place to Mass. General Hospital that I could find (It's very close!). Dinner was amazing! My husband had fish and chips and really enjoyed it. I had the grilled Atlantic Salmon with Beurre sauce. It came with smashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, and spinach. It was just the most amazing dinner and I enjoyed every bite. I go to Boston every 3 months, and so have this restaurant to look forward to. We had a wonderful waitress, and we were moved to a quieter table when we were first seated next to a big noisy party. It was a great experience. I highly recommend it!!

Yelp
This effectively a dive bar for Beacon Hill. There are plenty of health care professionals since Mgh is right next door. It seems to have a relatively decent social atmosphere but the cleanliness leaves something to be desired. The kitchen opens up by the bathroom and you can clearly see the trash and grime that is begging to be cleaned up. The prices are fair and reasonable so that is a benefit. The food isnt great but it is bar food so dont expect much. Low stars only because I had to deal with very rude staff multiple times.
google avatar

Benjamin D.

Yelp
A good place to come to with friends and family or even by yourself enjoy watching the game and eat some great food. And the burgers here are amazing the drinks are pretty decent and decently priced. What makes this place so great is the Staff that works here.. Very pleasant individuals always with a smile and bring your food promptly. I have to give this place 4 stars not only for location but for greatness in customer service, but the drinks are a tad overpriced due to what they are. Our server Anthony was a great server and made it even more pleasant.
google avatar

Joanie L.

Yelp
Hadn't been here in ages but it appealed to my friend and me especially since I wanted to keep track of the football games. Yet another cocktail and beer menu with no prices. WTF, why is this a thing now? Annoying. Negroni and pineapple cocktail were good (about $12), apps of fried pickles and Buffalo cauliflower tasty. My bowl of corn bacon potato chowder was tasty ($11) and filling and my friend's southwestern salad with steak was good if a little pricey. Great service at the bar, def a good choice for a cold Sun holiday night.
google avatar

Sophia B.

Yelp
Delicious food and it's so nice to seat out on the deck. I will come back here! So relaxing and food is well done. Pizza is great and steak is soft.

Daniel T.

Yelp
They were very helpful and accommodating when I called to reserve. Service was quick and super nice. Small plates and burgers were delicious. Karaoke was an added bonus!

Yelp
Now is the time for an update on this Beacon Hill institution. I've had lunch here twice in the past couple of months and I've bumped them up to 5 stars. I will be forever grateful to Harvard Gardens ownership and staff who throughout the worst of the Covid pandemic, provided regular FREE lunches to those of us working onsite at Massachusetts General Hospital. I know that Mass General employees have always been loyal customers anyway but HG went above and beyond to make sure that those of us who were essential employees and had to be onsite were well fed and felt cared for ourselves. A number of local restaurants did this too (and I am grateful to them as well!) Most days there was a free lunch from one restaurant or another which was so greatly appreciated. But I have to say that I remember Harvard Gardens doing this many more times than others. I respect Harvard Gardens for their commitment to frontline hospital workers and I will forever be a happy (and well-fed) patron. Although I did work throughout the pandemic, I retired from MGH at the end of May. That said, I of course will continue to patronize Harvard Gardens where truth be told, I have never had a bad meal. The food is solid American fare. There is a bar area too where I have spent many a fun time after work with colleagues. Forget "Cheers"...(ugh), Harvard Gardens is the place where "everybody knows your name"...and even if they don't, you're treated well and will leave happy. I have to travel into Boston tomorrow to run some errands but I have made plans for lunch with a friend and we will be meeting here. Great American food, reasonable prices, nice environment, clean bathrooms and great staff. Thank you Harvard Gardens for everything you did for us at MGH during the pandemic. I felt like we were in this together. xoxo

Yelp
I've seen a lot of tiktoks about this place and I wanted to try it out while my friend was in town visiting. We went for lunch on Saturday. You can order off the brunch menu or the all day menu. I had gotten the pulled pork sandwich with fries. It was pretty good. Our server was very short with and seemed annoyed that we didn't get drinks with brunch. The whole experience was pretty average.
google avatar

Sara K.

Yelp
This is a great spot for group brunch! It has enough variety for whatever you're feeling. It has loaded breakfast potato tots, breakfast burritos, a few different eggs Benedict's, omelettes, huevos rancheros, multiple sweet options, etc. I got the breakfast burrito with home fries, which was great! It had plenty of steak. The atmosphere is a comfortable yet lively sports bar. I have been many times with large groups and the staff has always been friendly and attentive. The prices are also very reasonable for brunch. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Neha M.

Yelp
This is a small, hole in the wall place in Beacon Hill, you could walk right past it if you weren't looking for it. I got the Cesar Salad and wow it hit the spot! we got mimosas and the breakfast tots to share which is a brunch need for anyone!
google avatar

Marcus W.

Yelp
This salad was delicious and good! I will recommend it to my friends and family! Fresh beets in the salad and the quinoa were excellent. This is a must-have

Kathi C.

Yelp
Varied menu. Their Beacon Hill burger was excellent. Side salad had a delicious dressing. My husband had shepherd's pie which did not meet his definition of the dish. It was just ground meat with mash potatoes on top. No vegetables in sight. Service was good on a busy day.
google avatar

Kendall D.

Yelp
Came here for brunch with my boyfriend--really liked it and would definitely come back! The food was rich and comforting and the perfect reward for waking up and going outside on a weekend morning. We got the breakfast loaded tots, which I think were the star of the table! Yolk porn on top was perfect and the creamy, cheesy, bacony taste on top of crispy tots made me keep going back for "one more bite" even when I was full. The breakfast pizza was also really good and quite a lot of food. It had scrambled eggs instead of a fried egg which I would have preferred for the flavor, BUT scrambled eggs are much less likely to spill all over you when you pick up a pizza slice for a bite (so still happy with the pizza!). Excited to go back another time to try some drinks and other menu items! Also really liked the interior decor, it seems like they've been there for a while and it has a dark/cozy feeling inside the restaurant.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent drinks, wonderful bartenders. However, it has been HOT AS HELL in there for the last 6 weeks! Owners: don't be cheap. Fix the A.C. it's affecting your bottom line!
google avatar

Taya A.

Yelp
OH MY GODDDDDDD such delicious food. I came in with two friends on a friday night for drinks and apps. I had two vodka sodas that were mixed perfectly. The 3 of us shared the fried pickles, sliders, truffle tots, and the white pizza with fig and arugula. Each one was more amazing than the last. I highly recommend Harvard Gardens!
google avatar

Javier M.

Yelp
Great place to go around Beacon Hill. The staff is lovely, especially the bartender Karen. She has treated me with kindness, making me feel at home. The food is great. They have classic bar food and classic cocktails. This place is significant for people who work in the medical field, as MGH is down the street. Many nurses, doctors, PA/NP, and admin people drink after a shift (usually after 7 PM). Great place to meet up.
google avatar

Samantha P.

Yelp
This was one of the first places I went to when I moved to Beacon Hill. They have a diverse menu, it was hard to pick! I cant stop thinking about the salad I got and I cant wait to go back and get it again. This bar has a lot of history and even thought it's been around for a while it's pretty trendy. I haven't been there for breakfast but I definitely want to try it.
google avatar

Libby B.

Yelp
My friends and I came here after work for drinks and some food. It was pretty empty on a Sunday night so went to the high tables. I got the pandemic punch which was so so good. Just what I needed after a long shift. We got the dumplings, parmesan truffle fries, and the pretzel for appetizers. It was all delicious. I got the Margherita pizza too which was really good. Will definitely come back after a shift again to unwind.
google avatar

Dena B.

Yelp
Stopped by yesterday with friend visiting for the day. Asked if we could sit outside, there were several tables and the hostess seated us quickly. Only one waitress but she could not have been nicer. My fault I did not get her name/cannot recall her name. My friend got the grilled chicken sandwich and I got the turkey BLT which was delicious, the multigrain bread toasted just right and the fries were really good and crispy. My friend is a picky eater but said the her sandwich was good, to me it looked excellent. Actually she was off a cruise ship for the day and eating light, because it is heavy with food on board. I got a ginger ale and she had water, so cannot comment on alcohol. I'm happy they still had outside patio but to note it is across from the MGH/Mass. General Hospital's Museum and front entrance, so there is the loud screaming of ambulances going by. And my friend's mom had one of those app location trackers and on her phone and it was showing my friend was at MGH -- so her mom panicked but my friend texted her to clarify we were not actually at MGH but at a restaurant nearby. Yup technology.
google avatar

Lizette P.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick drink before heading to Charles Street. Our bartender Karen was great and offered a bunch of recommendations for us while visiting Boston for the first time.
google avatar

Gabrielle C.

Yelp
I went there for the first time for lunch today. Ordered 3 salads all with steak tips for the price of $68. When I got back to work and handed out the salads, myself and the 2 other people were extremely disappointed to see that we paid roughly $22 each to only be given THREE small steak tips (one of us got lucky with 4). HUH?? Was not worth the money
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Came in for brunch this past Sunday after having run by it countless times. Around 1, the place was pretty empty and we were sat right away. We got the chicken and waffles and the smoked salmon Benedict. The waffles were a bit bland but the chicken was nicely crisped and well seasoned. Wish the syrup and sauce were served on the side! The smoked salmon was pretty tasty - they were generous with the amount of salmon and I was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of tomato and spinach underneath the salmon layer. The potatoes served as the side were nicely seasoned and fried and had a nice sprinkle of cheese on top.
google avatar

Aliké S.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised! My general experiences of dining in Boston have been underwhelming, so I think my expectations have dropped slightly??... But with that said, I liked what I ordered, albeit they were just sides (and one, the garlic green beans they didn't have): Broccolini Roasted potatoes We lucked up on parking. Street parking can be cruel in that area. The place was busy, but we were sat immediately. Staff was friendly. Menu was touchless, although the host didn't inform us so we sat there awhile waiting on "paper" menus. But once we got that figured out, the menu had a decent selection of items. I'd definitely go back if I'm in the area again during a meal time. Kinda random - I also ordered hot tea. Green tea to be exact. And it was great! Green tea can be excessively strong, bitter, intense and overpowering. But this cup was not. Very pleasant taste. The food came relatively quickly. Although, as previously stated, we didn't order much. Bathrooms were tight, but decent. Not scary. ... now that i think of it, I MUST return to order an entree to truly confirm my review. As it stands though - Harvard Gardens is solid.
google avatar

Sara D.

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink and quick bite with some friends! We went during happy hour, and the place was pleasantly busy. Food was delicious, service was on point. Definitely would return!
google avatar

Eric L.

Yelp
Local watering hole, happy hour from Mass General is usually packed with scrubs on Fridays. Bar fare all good, sliders, nachos. truffle tater tots, chicken tenders. Salads are good too. I know somebody did a French Onion soup tiktok, but pass on that. Also pass on the wine, stick with beers out of bottle or on tap. Always good food and a good time.
google avatar

Ron C.

Yelp
I've been coming here recently as my father is at Mass General across the street. I remember coming here with friends about 15 years ago after excursions at the Liberty Hotel. This place is really cool. The service is always great and there is always seating available. The Cobb Salad here is great and quite large. The Tuna Tartar is also really good with a combination of Seaweed Salad and Avocado.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
I found out that they had some Shark Week items on their menu and decided to check them out. We got here very late, but the good news is that they have a late night menu. Although limited, it suited my needs. They didn't have any Shark Week meals, so I went for the Harvard Gardens burger instead and ordered the Blood in the Waters drink. The burger was good at first, but I think it may be how they grilled the burger, but tasted salty around some of the bites. I may come back here during the day to try their other items.
google avatar

Akisha M.

Yelp
This place is located across from mass General. The decor is cute and welcoming. There were inflatables near the door for shark week. We were seated right away and given menus. I knew I wanted the truffle Mac and my husband had the French onion soup. The truffle Mac was hot and creamy with chicken and pancetta. The soup was loaded with cheese and my husband scraped the bowl. I also ordered a blue berry lemonade, which was made by our waiter and it was amazing. I would try this place again.
google avatar

Shawn W.

Yelp
GREAT pub!!! The bartenders are so nice & helpful. Good pub food. A MUST TRY is the homemade blackberry dark & stormy!! C'mon....the blackberry syrup is HOUSE MADE! Very cool pub to visit while in Boston. Liz is awesome!!

Alexandra M.

Yelp
We came in a little bit before the kitchen was closing at 10:30 (weeknight) and were soo pleased with the waitstaff and food. Upon entering the waitress on the floor did not come to the host stand to greet us and ignored our presence but the awesome female bartender made up for it! She took our order with a much better attitude. To start we got pretzel sticks which weren't very good, basically just pizza crust but the entrees stole the show and we will just get those next time.
google avatar

Amy K.

Yelp
I stopped by here after a long overseas flight and I was HUNGRY! It was open late night and had decent food and drink menus. My friends and I were seated immediately and ordered the pork dumplings ($11) and a meatball pizza to share ($14). The pizza wasn't huge, but it was loaded up with meat and tasted great! The dumplings were pretty good too but I don't think I'd order them again. For a drink I ordered the Fleur de Lemon which was really refreshing. The staff was really kind and attentive here and it seems like a good place to meet locals. Nice dark bar with live music and a trendy crowd. I'd return.
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
I respect this business a lot for persevering through the pandemic and providing frontline workers with free meals and supporting them in other ways! I think the food here is amazing! I especially love the chicken sandy and the truffle tots! While I consider myself a loyal customer to HG, I primarily go there when there is some kind of promotion because the food is otherwise too pricey for me to justify on a regular basis. I wouldn't expect them to get everything in your order exactly right. We usually have something come out incorrect whether it be forgetting to include ranch or giving us the wrong fries, but the sandy is so good that this doesn't deter us! I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you're in the beacon hill area, I'd give it a try! They also make eating there a fun experience with unique promotions! At the start of quarantine, everyone got a free roll of toilet paper with their purchase! Hilarious and well needed! Sometimes they include $10 gift cards with your purchase or other freebies!

Yelp
Worst veggie burger I'd ever eaten or at least attempted to eat in my life. Great location and wait staff. Time for a new chef.
google avatar

Yelp
Good place. Decent food, good service. I like the atmosphere. 4 star.

Yelp
Great food & sports bar with mix of locals and tourists like us. The Ruben was delish and so are the tater tots

Yelp
Amazing place if you are in the Boston area and are looking for a great brunch place. My friends and I went to Boston for a weekend gateway and we stopped here for brunch. Harvard Gardens was absolutely amazing! They have a great deal when it comes to mimosas because you can order a pitcher to spilt with your group. Everyone ordered something different, but everyone loved what they ordered. The food was great and the service was great as well. Also this place has a lot of gluten friendly options! I recommend this place if you are in the Boston area! Oh and I'm sure this place is good to go to besides brunch!
