Where to Eat and Drink Around Texas A&M University

"Conveniently located near off-campus housing, this laundromat bar makes sorting whites more fun. Even locals with their own machines stop by for the pulled pork cheese fries. Takeout orders can be placed over the phone; there are indoor and outdoor dine-in services." - Brandon Watson

Want a different dining experience? This is it! The second you walk in your welcomed by a friendly server and the smell of laundry detergent! Since the laundry mat is attached and owned by the same person they have it open to where you can drop I'm your clothes to wash while you do work on your laptop or dine in right beside. We absolutely enjoyed it and would do it again if ever in the area. The burgers here were great too.

Google
Checked to see if they allowed dogs and yes they do! The staff was refreshingly friendly, without being too much. The burger was great, loved the sourdough bun and the sweet potato fries. It was a chill atmosphere my pups loved hanging out in...while each eating their own cheeseburger patties. No food pics, only because my hands were a tad messy but it all looked great!

I have been visiting Washbangers for a few years now, on a regular basis. The service has always been great. The staff have always been welcoming and friendly. Whether you seek conversation or a place to read while doing laundry, this is a good place. Their adult beverage selection is awesome. The selections on tap are updated quite often, allowing for an adventure for your taste buds. The laundry facilities have always been well maintained and clean. They have a good amount of washers (varying sizes) and dryers. Cashless machines (using a card obtained on site).

Google
This was my first time trying Harvey Washbanger’s, and I must say I had a pleasant experience. You can wash your clothes here in the numerous washing machines while you enjoy your meal. There are multiple burger choices (which make for a difficult decision), but there are also sandwiches and black bean quesadillas. I ordered the Chorizo Burger, which included a tasty chorizo patty with cheese, crispy tortilla strips, and avocado. My brother ate a regular burger, which he said tasted good but included too much lettuce. My father’s patty melt tasted great, and the Texas toast bun was salted well, but he remarked that it could be a little bit bigger. The best part of the burgers may be the brioche bun, which is very sweet and filling. Overall, this was a nice experience and a good choice for dinner if you’re in the area.

This place used to be an iconic place in the area of College Station. American food was great and service was incredible. Hope to see them back again.

Girls weekend, traveling back home and stopped at Harvey Washbangers Bar and Grill. Great burgers, fun server, and laid back atmosphere. Definitely going back.

Google
Love this place. Great burgers. Amazing Texas beer selection. What puts it over the top is the staff. Gus and Gabe are a wealth of information and really good guys. You feel like you are hanging out with your buddies when here.

Google
Had only been here once before years ago, so stopped in for lunch while visiting family. The service and burger were outstanding. Nothing negative to say. Restaurant was clean and neat, as were the restrooms, and all the staff were friendly. Nice job, team!

Yelp
Super nice waitress coupled that with a great burger and laundromat (didn't use that) makes for some good eating even if my Florida Gators basketball team lost (by 1 point). I had the chorizo with a fried egg on it. Super duper good. Highly recommend their burgers here. If in College Station and you need a great burger with great beer this place is it. To our smiling waitress - thank you for the suggestion of adding the egg. Made a world of difference.

Yelp
Amazing food! The service was amazing, not too much not too little. Super cute and neat restaurant!

Yelp
My Friends and I enjoyed this charming little laundry mat restaurant. Such a clever idea with delicious burgers. We will be back again when we are back in town. The service was fast and they answered all of our questions.

Yelp
This is pretty spiffy cool spot our friends told us about when we were here for a volleyball tournament! We ordered the Banger Burger, The Chorizo Burger & That's My Jam! All the burgers were seasoned well and come in a sour dough bun! Fries were great too!! Customer service was great ! We also ordered the giant pretzel to go !

Yelp
I've lived here for 2 years and just now tried it. I can't believe I waited so long this place is AMAZING! I genuinely feel there isn't good food here in college station but this burger my goodness I haven't had a burger this good in YEARS. Also my waitress was very sweet and helped me pick this amazing burger!

Yelp
Once again, Harvey Washbangers stays true to being a Brazos County staple. I had the So-Cal Burger and it was so fresh. The fries were hot and the iced tea was great. My mom had the frito dog and said it was phenomenal but her chips were inedible (they tasted like French fry grease). Still, the place was cool and the service was great.

Yelp
I didn't have any laundry, but the place did smell like a dryer sheet. Pulled pork was good. No issues here. Chips are made in house also. See our travels on youtube at Coolest Life.

Yelp
Excellent food with a fun atmosphere. Where else can you wash your clothes and eat delicious food at the same time?

Yelp
We heard of this place from the Texas Bucket list and could not wait to try it. The show we saw aired in 2014 so the world changed with COVID. I really loved the atmosphere, very funky. There is a fully functional laundromat in the back, great outdoor seating, (which we didn't use, too hot.) They have a very extensive beer selection, not being a beer drinker I cannot say which is the best as I had an ice tea. No wine available. We decided to share a patty melt and onion rings. I was disappointed in the patty melt. It was served on Rye bread which held up well to the meat but it didn't have much flavor at all. The onion rings though were very good. We don't live nearby but I would go back and try a different dish.

Yelp
The buns???!!?! Omg this place is my favorite burger spot. My friends don't like it but omg. So good. It's like Hawaiian bread of something. But their honey mustard sauce is disgusting

Yelp
Well, okay. I think I found my next favorite burger joint! I got the Jalapeno Cream Cheese burger with fries, as did my wife. As advertised by the waiter (who was exceptionally friendly), it was not spicey but very good. So I ended up packing on some hot sauce I found at the booth. Hot dang this thing is loaded with flavor! Might I add it's also a big ol' patty. We also got the Queso Del Jefe, which ended up being a lot, even shared amongst 4 people. Delicious though! My kids split a Backyard Dog with fries. It was plenty for them. Now, back to the waiter. He was one of the best i've seen in probably months. He had all the information we needed for newcomers, while also carrying an infectious smile. I can't remember his name but he was way above and beyond, and we tipped high to show him. The ambience inside is really nice, reminds me of an old diner from the 70s or 80s. There's also a bar taking up the center of the place that is just inviting me to sit there next time. I don't drink but I wouldn't mind eating up there. We will surely be back!

Yelp
My food wasn't bad, but it was really bland. The service was pretty good though. I like the whole novelty of it being at a laundromat.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Unquestionably the best place to do laundry in town! And the food is good too! Both the restaurant and the laundromat are very well managed and clean. The bathrooms are very clean, and the customer service is consistently outstanding. We come here when we're in town with our RV. If you can say you like your laundromat, that's saying a lot.

freddie i.

Yelp
A decent restaurant riding off its past praise to still be considered "great." It's a fun concept, but if you're looking for a great burger look elsewhere.
google avatar

Brandi R.

Yelp
Interesting concept for sure. Food was good but average. Nice selection of craft beer on tap!

Crystal G.

Yelp
I love this place! Fast service, friendly staff. Priced well. My go to spot when I get too behind on laundry and to whet my large comforters cleaned.

Yelp
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome by smiling faces and immediate service. Josh, our delightful server had us laughing the entire time. We dined on the fresh chips and salsa, along with the Black Bean Quesadilla and the Chorizo Burger. As much as we would have loved to polish off our savory food, we just could not! There was plenty of chips and salsa to take home but every french fry and burger bite was consumed with pleasure. While we are serious advocates of the sister location for brunch, Harvey Washbangers has convinced us there is more to breakfast...and it's lunch! Thank you all for incredible service and delicious food. We will be back when we're in town.

Bobby H.

Yelp
Server was excellent... we all got different things like the giant pretzel, hamburgers, Philly Cheese Steak, Patty Melt, Fried Pickles, and the pork french fries. Everything was good and came out fast!
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
This place was pretty unique. It's a washateria with a cafe attached to it. When you think about it, it's a good business model for a college town. Come do laundry and get a bite to eat at the same time. The exclusive craft beer selection is another clue to their business plan. Honestly, as a thirty-something, I think I may not have been a target customer for them because there was nothing about this place that I thoroughly enjoyed. The food was so-so, the beer selection was only craft beer, just nothing to write home about. The server was great. She was very attentive and kind. The food came out quickly. I can't see myself returning any time soon.

Sharon M.

Yelp
The food is good, the fries are great! It's nice to relax while your laundry is washing. They have a board that shows you when your laundry is done. The staff on both the laundry side and the restaurant side are exceptional; just really nice.
google avatar

Yelp
As everyone says, "It's a great place to grab a beer or burger while you're doing laundry, but..." We stopped in because Washbanger's food was on the Texas Bucket list in 2014. My wife and I decided to split a patty melt and onion rings. The rye bread was great, but the patty was tiny and flavorless. The onions were thrown on and the onion rings were crazy bland. The burgers looked better in 2014. Maybe they are still recovering from the pandemic. Maybe it's a great place for a beer while washing your clothes. But I wouldn't recommend the patty melt or onion rings for a price bump. Hook a laundromat to a burger and hot dog joint and you have Washbanger's. Sadly, I can only recommend the laundromat.
google avatar

Karen B.

Yelp
Actually, yes! It's been in the area for a long time, and I had never been. I was surprised at how delicious these burgers are in an eatery situated next to a laundromat in the same building! (I just don't recommend sitting near the door which opens directly into the laundromat unless you like the smell of laundry detergent while you are eating.) But the food is tasty!!!
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the atmosphere is unique! I highly recommend trying it out! While you wait for your laundry to cycle, you can eat some amazing food!
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
The country needs more places like this! This is such an ingenious idea to have a restaurant/taproom attached to a laundromat. I visited this place a couple times while I was in College Station working. The food was phenomenal given where you were at and the beer selection was superb too. You have plenty of different styles to choose from for beer from various areas of Texas. If I'm ever back in college station then I certainly look forward to visiting this place again!
google avatar

Jessica W.

Yelp
Good food. Neat concept to eat while waiting on your laundry. We enjoyed the food and the beer!
google avatar

Jenna K.

Yelp
Harvey Washbangers is a staple when coming to College Station, TX! You can eat, drink and do your laundry for a relatively good price. When I went, it was college students working, they were all super nice! The food was good, wait was not too long, and the restaurant was super clean. If you are alone it's a good place too! Bring the kids and enjoy the experience. We tried the Caesar salad, Philly cheese steak, cheese burger, chicken tenders and chips and queso. Also the peanut butter chocolate shake. Super yummy!

Juan C.

Yelp
By far the best crispy chicken fingers . Quick service and great price. Clean and fun spot. I'd definitely drive back from San Antonio/Austin to eat here.-Johnny

Yelp
I can't believe I drink craft beers now at a laundromat...but here we are. After touring over 100 breweries across Colorado, we decided to move to College Station, for the beer, obviously (that's sarcasm). This place gives us a bit of home, while literally feeling like we're at home because we need to do laundry. Their selection of beer is okay - not a super deep bench in terms of taps but some decent brews in can. Their servers are top notch, everyone has been incredibly friendly and welcoming. They don't really know too much about beer but most of the servers we've had seem like they're barely of age to serve beer sooo...... Foodwise, hubs is a big fan of their burgers & chicken tenders but me, not so much. Fries and hot dog are good though!
google avatar

Jamie B.

Yelp
Always gets your laundry done quickly, looking and smelling great! I highly recommend their laundry service!
google avatar

Todd D.

Yelp
Cool hamburger place. Food is fresh and well prepared. Nice Texas beer selection. The chorizo burger with added egg has been my favorite so far. Definitely a great place to check out. Definitely not what you'd expect from a place connected to a laundromat. Cool concept for a college town.

Brad A.

Yelp
Fast service, great food, nice menu clean atmosphere, priced right!! Satisfaction guaranteed
google avatar

Don B.

Yelp
Great burgers and good service. Especially good if you need to do some laundry. Would definitely recommend to others.

Gregorio B.

Yelp
Awesome place to do laundry and eat. Staff is always friendly and welcoming. I been coming 5+ years and been providing 5 star service. Food is A+. A rare gem in Aggieland!!
google avatar

Abir C.

Yelp
Let's start off with the good stuff. The service is pretty good, prompt and friendly. The fries and the chipotle mayo are also pretty good. The bun is very good too, except that it isn't suited to be a burger bun. It has a bit too much flavor for that. Also, it is a bit off-putting because of its sweetness. Now, the meat has good flavor, but the patty is really small and really dry. Even with a coke, my mouth felt dry because of the patty. You could taste the Angus beef, but not as much as you would expect. Lastly, I believe it is a bit overpriced. There are better burgers for cheaper prices in Bryan-College Station.
google avatar

Troy A.

Yelp
Two words. Cajun burger. You can thank me later. Super friendly staff. Alex, the manager, is the man.
google avatar

Pristina M.

Yelp
I didn't like much about this place. We tried their burger and fries. The meat tasted old the veggies must have been sitting on the meat for a while before it came out because they were wilted or they weren't fresh. The service was okay. The ambiance was fun though. We may try it again but we will skip the burger.

Lost C.

Yelp
Amazing idea with even better food. Very clean with great service. Banger Burger were to die for
google avatar

Yelp
Well thought out! Clean, organized, great service and food. Great place to wash cloth and eat. Or just go to it.

Yelp
Cool concept for a college town. Visited for lunch during the pandemic. We were headed back into CS from Huntsville and some back roads that snaked thru the Sam Houston National Forest. GF was able to order our food for pick up. One gripe, for each order you can delete ingredients. Take for instance my club sandwich. Yes, I could delete lettuce. You can add! BUT, there wasn't any place for her to comment that I would prefer soft bacon instead of the pre-cooked crispy crap. Food was ready in a timely manner. As folks were already dining on the outdoor patio, we chose to dine there. This made tea refills and a bathroom break easy too. She liked her banger ordered without cheese and onions. She also pointed out the bun was better than most. Back to my club; bread was gently toasted. Tomato slices were ample. Again, no option to add onion which also could have been fixed with a comment section. House made chips as well as the fries were above average. Honey Mustard that came with my sammich was good too.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant as I passed through College Station. Our family was greeted at the door with a smile. They quickly sat us down and got us served. The burgers were tasty. I got the sweet potato fries and a burger on sour dough bread. Only regret was not getting the special Irish burger with caramelized onions, a sauce, chips, cheese, and more - I tried my Husband's and that was the burger to order!

Janet A.

Yelp
Not for older people. My husband and I washed our clothes there, and had a mediocre, forgettable burger. We were glared at by the young, college age customers and staff. Never again! Terrible ambiance!
google avatar

Hanna B.

Yelp
Plus side, laundry AND food simultaneously. But I went to the laundry side first and wasn't greeted by any of the 3 people behind the counter. It's my first time, I don't know what I'm doing... so I walk up and they all just STARE at me. And finally I said something, so one of the girls helped me. A super weird encounter but whatever Food was pretty good for the price. The server was super nice and helpful as well.

Beverly S.

Yelp
We tried this place based on the bucket list. It's a very unique experience since half of the restaurant is a laundromat. Both places are very clean and well maintained. The Queso del Jefe and chips are excellent. The Banger burger is good and very large. It comes on sourdough bread which was a little to thick and soft for my liking. Next time I would order on a different bread. The burger was tasty and very well made. The fries are abundant but a little thin. Overall a good place to grab a bite to eat.
google avatar

Gina D.

Yelp
Cute burger/laundry place. I've been here a couple of times when I've come to town to visit my kids. I've had the patty melt both times. First time was better than the first. My husband tried one of the hot dogs with onion rings and he really like it. My son gets the Cajun burger and thinks it's the best one on the menu. I forgot to take pics! Chips and queso were pretty good.
google avatar

T. E.

Yelp
Tasty burgers and great variety of interesting beers. I know there are lots of different feelings about fries in the world, but for a burgers and fries kind of place, their fries are not my favorite. I mention it because in spite of that, they still get five stars! Definitely one of the top hamburger places in BCS (and I think my son would say the best!).
google avatar

Brooke M.

Yelp
I love Harvey Washbangers. The burgers are some of the best in cstat. The workers are always so friendly, and I absolutely love the 80's aesthetic.

Netty L.

Yelp
Kentucky - you're the best server! Thank you for an awesome experience! The burger buns are phenomenal and fried pickles - the best! So happy this was our dinner stop - highly recommend!

Joy B.

Yelp
2nd visit passing through town. Tried a different hot dog this visit. Cowboy Up Dog . Highly recommend. My friend had the Frito Pie Dog . She had that last time, and she liked it so much she had to order it again. We split a regular cheeseburger. The burger was very good. My friend enjoyed her sweet potato fries, and the sauce they give with it, honey horseradish sauce, was fantastic. I would put that on all kinds of stuff! Another great meal at Harvey's. And we had milkshakes, those were great! (Hint: I took some of the kettle chips home with me, and later that night, put them in my air fryer. Wow they came out perfect. Just as if they were fresh. Try it!)

Rachel M.

Yelp
Would be a great place if the manager that always wears a hat wasn't such a creep and a jerk!
google avatar

Jenna L.

Yelp
My family and I love coming to Harvey Washbangers for tasty food and great service. The burgers here are excellent - well-seasoned and on absolutely delicious bread. The Queso del Jefe is an excellent appetizer and I highly recommend doing your best to have a little left over for dipping your fries in once your entrée arrives. Other excellent appetizers include porkaholic cheese fries, hot wings, and regular chips and queso. While I enjoy the fries that are served with the Banger Burger, they also have homemade chips that you can substitute for the fries if that is more your thing. Other favorites for our family have been the hot dogs, the quesadilla, and the chorizo burger. They have rotating menu items that go along with the season, such as various hot dogs in the summer, a tailgate burger in the fall, etc., along with their regular menu. Because of this, you know you are always able to get an old favorite or try something new. They have lunch specials daily and kids eat free on Sunday evenings with the purchase of an adult meal. I think the most important thing to note is that I have always had excellent service here. From the manager to the waitstaff, people are kind, polite, and knowledgeable. My mother and I recently dined here with my father who has advanced Alzheimer's. I went in early to explain the situation to the manager, Alex G., knowing they would be willing to accommodate us, but still wanting to give them a heads-up of the situation. The manager seated us personally and then discretely explained the situation to our waitress, Haley S. She was excellent! She still directed questions at my father and treated him like the adult he is, while understanding we would likely answer for him. She never showed annoyance or lost her patience. The manager, stopped by multiple times to make sure everything was great. I'd like to say he did this because of our circumstances, but I noticed he did that with all the tables. Along with indoor dining, there is an outside covered patio with ceiling fans that is dog-friendly and has televisions. This means you can get your laundry done, enjoy great food, watch the game, and have your dog with you the whole time in a comfortable atmosphere. I have never done laundry here, but have noticed they have a special board that shows your machine number with lights next to it to let you know where in the cycle your laundry is. That way, you can put in your laundry and go enjoy a meal without having to constantly go back to check on your machine. Getting in here can be a bit difficult if you are coming in northbound on Texas, so I recommend turning down Holleman and going in the back way or getting turned around to go south on Texas so you can easily turn right into the restaurant.
