The 20 Best Restaurants In Berkeley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"If Hashtag Poki was located in the middle of Interstate 80 during rush hour traffic, we’d still send you there—the deceivingly simple poke bowls are incredible. Fortunately, there’s no need to subject yourself to that 10th circle of hell. Just walk up to this fast-casual spot on a quiet stretch near campus to order. This is a build-your-own bowl situation: pick a fish like hamachi, albacore, and salmon so buttery it’s downright luxurious, and mix in the avocado, fried garlic, and housemade yuzu sauce. Once you’ve done it your way (and said goodbye to meat forever)—ponder pursuing life as an angler at sea." - julia chen 1, lani conway

Hashtag Poki - Review - Berkeley - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Ever had poke so perfect you contemplated breaking your lease to go live on a boat in the Pacific and pursue a hunter-gatherer lifestyle? If the answer is no, one trip to Hashtag Poki in Berkeley will change that to an emphatic yes. Ordering at this counter-service, takeout-only spot in Elmwood is pretty simple. It’s a build-your-own situation where you pick from proteins like salmon, ahi tuna, hamachi, and tofu, and complement them with mix-ins like avocado, cucumbers, and jalapeño slices. The fish is, like we said, perfect—soft, never chewy or stringy, and leveled up even more when tossed in Hashtag Poki’s housemade yuzu, ponzu, or spicy mayo. Stopping by for a bowl is how we get a midday power-up—one will definitely fill you up but won’t leave you feeling heavy. While the poke bowls are the main attraction, don’t skip the made-to-order sushi rolls, donburi, or nigiri. The rice is always the ideal amounts of vinegar-y and sweet, and complements the fish in a way that’s hard to beat. Finish it all off, and continue to daydream about your life at sea. Or just return the next day for another lunch. Food Rundown Poke Box This is what you’re coming here for. Each box is fully customizable and fantastic across the board, so we won’t tell you exactly what to put in it—just make sure the housemade yuzu and ponzu are in the mix, along with some sushi rice. Rock And Roll A simple yet flawless roll. The eel is nicely tender and has an ample amount of unagi sauce, and the avocado is always buttery." - Julia Chen

The atmosphere is seriously lacking as is the energy of the employees. Feels more like a gulag. I have eaten here in and off over the years. Their portions are small for the price but generally tasty. I did get food poisoning once from it. The owner was in big denial when I told him but did give me a refund. It was the only thing I’d eaten. I LOVE the ease of parking. This place is generally a good choice especially out of convenience.

Google
Unexpectedly visited twice — both times they were closed, despite Google showing them as open. Very frustrating experience, especially when planning a meal based on their listed hours. Would recommend calling ahead, as online info seems unreliable.

What a great start to begin the year with a new spot unlocked. Hashtag poki is quick and professional at their job. Order what you want, here’s your bowl. Seating inside very minimal but you would need to go during slow hours. I went here Sunday lunch, and enjoyed my meal. I was lucky enough to grab a seat and enjoy all the flavors bursting in my mouth. The wonton chips is definitely a must have in your poke bowl. Quite creative, I like the idea! Street parking is provided, not hard to miss. A corner restaurant to serve you. I am most likely coming back to this joint to enjoy more of their menu.

Google
This used to be my poki take away “go to”. Sad to say, it won’t be any longer: Tonight’s order was a HUGE disappointment! Portions were about a third less than they used to be. The rice was dry (clearly had been sitting there a while) and the “spring mix” of a salad was a couple of gigantic woody leaves.

Google
Great first experience - food was fresh, place was clean, and staff was friendly. Looking forward to my next visit.

Google
Best poke in the East Bay - always super fresh fish and perfect avocados! Recently tried their sashimi bowl (?) and unagi offering. Just excellent service, always. I've always done to go - and I never use Door Dash.

Jaya

Google
I've been getting DoorDash from here for a while and it's always good. The fish and sides are fresh and taste amazing. Portions have gotten smaller but the price is well worth it because you get a lot of bang for your buck. Today I got takeout and liked the vibe inside. They greeted me at the door and were kind. I got a small bowl - half white rice, half greens, tuna, salmon, mac salad, wakame salad, green onions, edamame beans, ginger, furikake, cucumber, wasabi sauce, and ponzu sauce, all for around $15 after tip. I am a happy repeat customer!

Google
For those unfamiliar with this style of cuisine, this type of fast casual restaurant primarily prepares a traditional Hawaiian seasoned raw fish salad served with a bed of rice as the base, your choice of cut raw seafood on top, and some veggies mixed in. It’s good, clean, and healthy eating. But the menu is meager when it comes to hot and cooked food. I mention this because I was looking for a basic cooked chicken over a bed of rice dish when I went, not knowing what their menu consisted of. Although they don’t offer any cooked chicken, their poki bowls are tasty. I particularly liked the seaweed and crab salad as my sides. Customer service was good. The team was patient, helpful and did well to explain the process of how to build a bowl. Do think the mini bowl portion size was plenty of food. Price was fair. Tip, only street side parking.

Yelp
My all-time favorite poke spot! Hashtag Poki is insanely delicious. The fish is crazy fresh. The mix-ins and sides are also super flavorful and fresh. I absolutely ADORE the ika salad. The dressing is so good and the squid is juicy. The portion sizes are very generous. Oftentimes poke places serve majority rice with their bowls but Hashtag Poki loads on the fish! I wish I was exaggerating when I say I eat here at least 4 times a week. This location is just a pick-up spot. There are no tables or seats. The service is always friendly and very quick. This is the perfect meal to picnic in the park with!

Yelp
Hands down! Out of all the poke spots I've been too... they have the best seaweed salad and crab salad. I could come here just for these with some white rice and be content with life! Always fresh tasting proteins. Always friendly employees. Always quick service. I did order a couple classic onigiris and a salmon roll too as I was paying. So we sat and ate our bowls while we waited. Kids were happy with the snacks that came with their poke.

Yelp
My family loves Hashtag Poki; we could eat here every day! The fish and the ingredients are high quality. The menu has so much to offer: poke, onigiri, gyoza, and more. The staff is incredible, and detail-oriented, and they always make sure to prepare your dish to your specifications.
google avatar

Natalie G.

Yelp
This is my favorite poke spot in Berkeley! I got the small poke bowl, which I think is the perfect serving size. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and I love how they mix the fish with the sauces, adding so much flavor. I went with the Yuzu and Ponzu sauces together, and it was an excellent combo. I also placed an online order for pickup, and it was super fast and easy. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! we were recommended to try this place and we're so glad we did! When we first walked in we were greeted with nice warm smiles. We love that they're in Togo boxes which makes it feel easy to get Togo and we love the options / choices to add to the "bowls". We definitely will be stopping by again the next time we're in town.
google avatar

Yelp
I love this spot. Great quality fish, great value, quick and easy. A fave! Especially love the salmon skin rolls and eel.
google avatar

April L.

Yelp
Service was good and staff members were nice but the food is just ok. The seafood doesn't taste that fresh and also portions were on the smaller side since they use a tiny scooper. The customizability is nice but everything in terms of taste including the non-protein sides were just OK.

Yelp
I wish I would have taken pictures of the food. Oh well, next time for sure I got two of their rolls + hamachi nigiri & inari nigiri. The fish was very fresh. The hamachi was buttery and the avocado in the salmon roll was very fresh as was the salmon. The inari nigiri was especially tasty. Generous portions and good prices. I will be back.
google avatar

Veronica L.

Yelp
Got a small poke bowl with hamachi and half salad half brown rice. The portions are smaller than I remembered from past visits but the fish, the rice, seaweed salad, and crab salad were all fresh. They charge $1.50 for avocado which is kind of a bummer but the quality of the food is good. Other poke places like Oke Poke include avocado so I'm taking one star off for this. But overall still one of my poke spots in the East Bay for freshness and quality.
google avatar

Catherine B.

Yelp
Super fresh poke and fresh salad greens in Berkeley! I also love that they offer macaroni salad and edamame as side options. I got a small and the portions were a bit small for the price but for the quality, I believe it's worth it. My only complaint is the sauces are a bit too salty and not savory enough - I'll have to go back and try some other sauce combinations.
google avatar

Amber E.

Yelp
The Poki Bowl was on point! The crab salad was unreal! The Wonton chips are so good using the bowl as a dip. DELICIOSO. For sure coming back!! Service was great too. I asked a lot of questions and the staff was so helpful and patient.

Ann S.

Yelp
Great poki bowls for take out! Lots of options. Great service and friendly staff. We have to drive from Oakland, but it is definitely worth it.
google avatar

Sebastien R.

Yelp
It's a decent spot for poke but as a returning customer it was sad to see the " squid salad " side becoming a protein (which was definitely a selling pint before) and I'm tired of every hole in the wall round town jacking up their prices overnight... it went up again recently and it's as expensive as a nicer sitdown restaurant now
google avatar

Juanna F.

Yelp
Had the mini poke bowl with brown rice and wonton chips and hamachi and tuna. I should've gotten two sides of rice instead because I felt like I had too much toppings and didn't really enjoy the wonton chips- they were undercooked so I asked for another, which they politely gave, although, the new bag of chips were undercooked as well. I didn't picture the chips. The poke is decent. The sauces were okay and the amount of fish is slim. I have had better build your own poke bowls comparable to this spot.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love Hashtag Poki and the entire crew who works there. Everything is incredibly fresh and you can customize your order with so many different options for sides like wakame, macaroni and crab salads, hella proteins, including ahi, salmon, squid, and then, the add-ons like cucumbers and jalapeños are always crisp and cut fresh. Plus, house-made sauces. They also recently added onigiri! My son loves to get the chicken katsu onigiri and an order of gyoza or he also enjoys the miso grilled salmon with brown rice. Definitely give this place a try and you'll be back over and over.

Yelp
Solid poke spot! I live a lot further away from campus and no longer have easy access to the other poke spots around, so this was the closest one. There's plenty of street parking here, and the inside has seating. This place is definitely higher quality than the other spots near campus, but I would say their portions are smaller (specifically their rice!) but I honestly don't mind paying more if the fish is better. The staff is also super nice and the inside is always clean, which I appreciate a lot!
google avatar

Ariele R.

Yelp
Service was quick, and they were friendly. Basic poke place style, so definitely casual. The food was amazing, and they had a great variety.
google avatar

Ranjan S.

Yelp
My favorite poke place in the bay! The fish is high-quality, they give a good proportion of sauces and mix-ins, and have all the options I usually go for in my bowls. The location itself is relatively spacious, though they don't have too many seating options. I usually come in for an early dinner, and have always been able to grab a seat. They have huge windows, so you can bathe in the sunlight while you eat. The staff are all nice and patient, and were happy to explain which options contained gluten and which did not (though the signs also mention it!).
google avatar

Sifath M.

Yelp
It's a little hidden place right on telegraph. The service was good as we came in and they served us right away. There's a few tables where you can dine in but honestly it's best to have it as take out. It's a very casual place. The poke itself was nicely sized and the fish was fresh. I really enjoyed the macorni salad. However there was very little topping options and the seaweed was a bit salty.

Kat D.

Yelp
I've been coming here about once a month since early 2023 after my partner introduced me to poke bowls. The fish is always fresh and we've always been satisfied with the portions and price. The staff is direct to move the line along while also attending to online orders. One of the staff members even briefly came out down Telegraph calling for us when my partner left her wallet after dining in, which we greatly appreciated. I'm finally sharing my thoughts about Hashtag Poki because I recently tried one of their new menu items: one of the "Okinawa onigiri." Unlike conventional onigiri, Okinawa onigiri is like a sandwich with Spam. We ordered an avocado one to complement our poke bowls one evening and wow, it was incredible! The textures and flavors of the nori sheet, rice, teriyaki sauce, Spam, egg, and cooling avocado were a delight. The Okinawa onigiri was surprisingly large too. I definitely plan on trying the other flavors on future visits.

Yelp
I was greeted as soon as I entered the door. The menu is pretty cool and has a good variety of selections. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food and taste is amazing. Definitely recommend a spot.
google avatar

Haley T.

Yelp
I demolished my poke bowl! Very very tasty. Visited on a very quiet Wednesday for lunch. Got the mini poke bowl with hamachi and salmon with the Original + Spicy Miso as my sauce. Everything was so good, except next time I'd replace the Mac Salad with Wakame. They had a good selection of toppings The fish was really good and fresh. Wish I got a regular size for a little more portions. Even though finding parking can be tough, I'll definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Shayda M.

Yelp
Still love coming even though the portion sizes got a lot smaller. They have the best crab salad and topping options around. Will top poke spot by far and the fish is always fresh!
google avatar

Angela F. W.

Yelp
I pass by this place often but never went in until today. My parents and I came back into town after a weekend trip and wanted something quick and healthy. We decided on poke and this place is the closest to me with highest ranking. The store is quite small with limited seating. Service is friendly and attentive. We ordered three regular bowls with brown rice and three proteins. I thought the poke was fresh and lived up to my expectation. The regular bowl is a bit small though IMO. And they charge extra for sauce on the side which I thought was odd. It's definitely not the best poke I've had but it gets the job done.
google avatar

Gered S.

Yelp
A little Poke shop with a name that just rolls off the tounge. Located in Berkley, this poke place was really good. The quality of their fish reminds me of the quality when I went to Hawaii and got poke. Their tuna tasted fresh and didn't have a fish taste to it. yes i know fish is fish, but if the fish is going bad it develops a funky taste. The sushi rice was exactly what I expected, short grain rice with that tanginess from the rice vinegar, i haven't tasted rice like this at other places yet. The crab salad was really nice too. I'm not sure how they made it but it didn't have that classic imitation crab taste, it tasted just a little better. This place was surprising and well worth it. I highly recommend coming here if you're in the area!
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Hashtag Poki is my go-to delivery restaurant because they're so above and beyond the other poke places in the area. The food is delicious and the add-ons complement the fish and sides so well. It feels like each one was chosen intentionally versus a hodgepodge of cheap vegetables. I've dined in once and the people working the counter were super friendly and patient with me as I navigated their menu for the first time. The interior is quite small so I wouldn't bring more than 1-2 people at a time. The food is packaged to go anyway so it's not an issue if you need to eat elsewhere.
google avatar

Susan T.

Yelp
The concept of this poki place is very similar to most poki places but what was different about this place is the topping. There's not much of selection but I rather have that - it's not overwhelming and the sauce were on point. I ordered a salad as my base, with two sides (seaweed salad & crab meat), 3 protein( albacore, maguro, sake), sauce yuzu & spicy original, toppings: onion, edamame, avocado, cucumber, green onions with fried garlic & furikake & drizzle of spicy mayo. The spicy original + yuzu coated with the fish was delicious. It was citrusy from yuzu and the ponzu flavor from the original sauce. Just complimented the fish very well. Everything just mixed well together. Possibly found a new favorite poki place.
google avatar

Leticia T.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. I don't know what's up with these lady's they are rude. The poki bowl was good, but I will not be going back. We work near by and everyone here knows not to go there anymore. Terrible experience
google avatar

Bella P.

Yelp
This place is awesome! My partner and I have been coming here for over a year now and we can't get enough. The service is great and the food is delicious. The fish is SO fresh and their sides & sauces are great! I have tried poke a few other places and they seriously don't compare. Hashtag Poki is the best there is!
google avatar

Maya L.

Yelp
Been here twice and really loved it both times. My latest order was a small with double sushi rice, double mac salad, side of wonton chips, ahi tuna with spicy mayo + ponzu, edamame & green onion mix ins, topped with fried onions + ginger. Pretty basic, but I prefer a less loaded poke bowl. The rice and mac are so good, the fish tastes fresh, and the wonton chips are nice to have if you're like me and need something crunchy on the side with most meals. The portion is quite small, but I have a small appetite so it's perfect to me!
google avatar

Joselyne T.

Yelp
I love this place! I always come here when I want a guilt-free lunch LOL. Like every other Poke spot, it's customizable your liking. Every time, protein quality has been consistent. I always add all toppings which I recommend when you first come here! I'd say it's a good amount, its really filling. It's on the pricier side but kind of standard for most poke places. There's two tables outside available for outdoor "dining" which is really convenient during Covid.
google avatar

Emma I.

Yelp
My fiancée and I stopped by here today for lunch. We both got the mini box which came with two scoops of your choice of protein, side, and base. We also got a lychee oolong tea. Everything was excellent, from the design of the restaurant to the staffs service. If you've never ordered poke before this place makes it easy on you. Instructions on how to order are on the large menu and at the counter. The staff is kind even if you mess up the flow of your order (like ya girl). They give large portions and everything was fresh, delicious, and prepared/cooked to perfection. We'll definitely be back! Thanks for a great meal.
google avatar

Seohyun P.

Yelp
I love this place! I love how you can get half and half bases and then get sooo many different toppings on top. I personally think the mini is more worth than regular because it's basically all the same except you get one more protein. Their ingredients are all pretty fresh and good quality! I would go lighter on the sauces though; I got three and it ended up being a bit salty in the end.
google avatar

Kate B.

Yelp
I could write an ode about my love for the best poke place in the Bay Area. You're able to customize your own bowls and they have a great selection of fish! my order is a large bowl: mixed greens, half hamachi, half salmon, avocado, edamame, extra scallions, spicy original, ponzu, and yuzu sauce. They also have tofu as a vegan friendly alternative I love that #poki offers hamachi as I have found it hard to find at other places! I recommend getting yuzu sauce over the greens to add extra brightness to your bowl. The staff is friendly and will help with suggestions if you're unsure on what to order.
google avatar

Victoria P.

Yelp
Portions are small for the price, classic poke options, but left a bit to be desired flavor wise. Not bad for a quick bite but not my first choice. Service was good. Do NOT get the shrimp protein, it was not edible and tasted barely defrosted.
google avatar

Wells L.

Yelp
TL:DR - All in all pretty solid but unspectacular spot. Salmon was fine, but the Tuna seemed like it could be fresher. Average price, decent portions, good side options. Mini is just one less protein and closer to the 50/50 protein to rice ratio I like. I think the mini is a better deal. ------------------------------------------------- Place is alright to pretty good. The staff was memorably nice. Pretty enthusiastic but overly so. Felt like they were pretty happy to be there, which is nice when you're asking for like 20 toppings of something to not feel like you're bothering someone. The establishment itself is pretty small, just the serving counter and maybe like 10 seats from what I remember. I got a regular portion with two scoops of salmon and one tuna with a rice and wonton chip base (I like some crunch in my poke) and then the seaweed salad and crab salad along with the spicy original and a drizzle of spicy mayo. I like that I can get wonton chips, cause I love some crunch in my poke, but I hate that it counts as a base, cause one scoop of rice is not enough. I will also say the tuna did not look fresh. It was definitely a more pale pink. I'm hoping it was just previously frozen tuna vs. old tuna. Outside of that, crab salad was pretty good. The spicy mayo, spicy original sauce, and seaweed salad were fine. Pricing is pretty average. The only other nit-pick I had was that the "mini" size is pretty much the exact same size as the regular, with just one less scoop of fish. And to be honest, I like a 50/50 or less rice to fish ratio (slightly more rice), and the regular portion is a little too much fish for me. With everything else being the same (same scoops of base and sides), the mini is a much better deal. All in all pretty solid but unspectacular. I think I'll try a few other poke places before I'd say this is a regular spot for me.
google avatar

Katherine G.

Yelp
I ordered through ubereats since I had a promo code, and wanted to try something new. This place is a bit too far from the Berkeley campus to walk to, so this was the perfect opportunity to try it. I've heard nothing but good reviews about it. I ordered a build your own poke bowl with salmon, spicy tuna, octopus, and hamachi. For the base I got sushi rice and mixed greens, and the crab salad. I also got most of the extra toppings. Everything tasted super fresh! I was impressed with the fish quality, though the octopus was a bit tough. I also got the miso soup, which was pretty standard. Overall, this spot is amazing for poke and I would highly recommend it!
google avatar

Giovanna R.

Yelp
Great poke! I went with Hamachi and Tuna, and they blew me away with the freshness of the fish. I wish I could say most poke places are that way, but unfortunately they are not. Service wise, it was good. Don't mean to gripe, but this stood out to us. The Asian gal taking our order talked way too fast, questioning what we wanted too quickly from just answering the previous question, so much that it wasn't inviting. You'd think there would be a line, but nope. Just one other guy, and he was just getting help by the other employee, odd. Something they should think about changing. Also, I had their mochi ice cream, but I don't recommend them. Tried two different ones, and the mochi tasted ok (a bit on the old, bad texture). Great poke tho! Hamachi was our most fave!

Art E.

Yelp
Food was fresh, tasty, quick and friendly service! Small place but well worth the visit. Lots of selections and staff is really helpful! Enjoyed my dinner and would highly recommend this Poke Restaurant! I ordered to go but finished my meal in the car before I could put the car in drive.

Yelp
The don't operate hours as advertised Beware!! No clue if worth the effort not today.... No tv hung else to say Food?? Sercice zero The web does not state correct time

Madeline E.

Yelp
I wish I had taken a photo because it was prepared in an appealing way, seriously food porn. Now let me tell you... the poke I got with tuna and hamachi was off the charts. So fresh! I had chunky pieces of sushi till my last bite and I only got the small size, the portions were perfect. The sides were delicious, I got the Mac salad and edamame. The shoyu, ponzu and yuzu sauces were so tasty. I also got the spicy mayo and it was perfectly spiced. All of the toppings were fresh as well and they were not cheap on the avocado! The service was fantastic from the moment I walked in. They were busy getting orders ready but did not miss a beat when greeting me. Super helpful in checking in while I was reading the menu and deciding. They didn't forget to check in again and had perfect timing when realizing I was ready to order. Answered all of my questions, I didn't have too many questions but the responses were quick and descriptive. Everyone was attentive, polite and friendly. The ambiance was bright, energetic and perfect for lunch. I came in just before lunch started. Enjoyed my meal at the restaurant and had to give compliments because I was very impressed!!

Jane S.

Yelp
Full disclosure: I have more experience with Japanese food than Hawaiian but am pretty good at recognizing fresh fish and good flavor. Nice staff. Food prepared to order. Space to eat. All good.
google avatar

Nunya S.

Yelp
I want to preface this with the people working there were really nice and my food was prepared correctly. I am giving the restaurant 2 stars because they very obviously changed the ingredients to a lower quality. I loved this place for their spicy ahi and it was made the way it's made in Hawaii. Although, not anymore. The spicy ahi is no longer cut cubes of ahi with the sesame spicy mayo sauce, it's now shredded scraps of ahi with a Sriracha sauce. I'm so disappointed in this direction they went with the menu. I feel a bit ripped off because I paid more than I have in the past and the quality of fish is terrible. This was such a great quality restaurant that was unmatched now it's really mid and compares to the other average poke shops around.

Con D.

Yelp
Hashtag Poki is my go-to for fresh, delicious poke bowls. The ingredients are always top-notch, and I love the variety of toppings they offer. The service is friendly, and the pricing is OK. Definitely recommend if you're craving poke in Berkeley! Not the best for sitting down and eating so recommend taking on the go.

Yelp
Really good poke. Not as much sauce as I would like but truly grade A. My hubby had the California roll and he really liked that as well. Get the side of macaroni salad!!

Yelp
I happened upon this place years ago. Today, I happened to have a poke bowl craving and I was thrilled to know I was less than 4 miles away but in typical Bay Area traffic it took me almost 20 minutes to get there. They follow all covid protocols and offer online ordering. I personalized my own bowl and picked it up as scheduled. Street parking was ample. Service was quick and extremely friendly. And food was AMAZING. Fresh and tasty. I can't wait to go back. I ordered the large build your own. It came with 4 scoops of protein - I chose 2 hamachi, 1 salmon & 1 shrimp. Chose all the toppings + avocado. Sea weed salad and taki as my salads.

Yelp
Whenever I'm craving a lighter meal, I always think of poke! It's such a delicious and filling meal, but it doesn't make you get a huge food coma afterwards. I found Hashtag Poki when I was browsing Yelp and it looked super promising. We shared the Large box with a California roll and it was the perfect amount for us. We got tuna, tako (octopus), and hamachi as our proteins but unfortunately, there was no hamachi when the food got delivered :( I was pretty bummed because I've never been to a poke place that serves hamachi. The fish tasted super fresh though and they offered a huge variety of toppings. It was definitely the prettiest poke bowl I've ever had! Overall, everything tasted great, I just wish the hamachi had been there and that there were larger portions of protein (felt like only a small scoop of each type) in the order.

Yelp
** The following review reflects my delivery experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. ** Is it poki or poke? I'm confused, and why are there so many poke places in the Bay Area, especially Berkeley? Oh I get it, it's like a cross between sushi and Chipotle at student-friendly prices, and it has the Hawaiian angle which makes it seem like you're traveling somewhere tropical without the need to climb onto a distance-averse plane. You know a trend is really trending when it's called Hashtag. Jamie W. and I have tried the other poke spots one way or the other but not this one until I noticed this was rated as tops on Hoodline. Time for a delivery. I ordered $13.50 Regular Poke Bowls for both of us, only they weren't bowls but rather cartons if you want to be accurate. We took advantage of the option of organic mixed greens instead of sushi rice. Three proteins a piece: salmon, albacore, and shrimp for Jamie; and salmon, hamachi, and ahi tuna for me. Along with fresh edamame beans, wakame salad, and wasabi mayo, the "bowls" came with a full cornucopia of toppings: nori, ginger, fried garlic, furikake, sesame seeds, and a heaping portion of masago (tiny orange fish eggs). Here's the result: Jamie's poke extravaganza (photo), mine (photo). Poke craving satisfied without leaving the house. Hashtag Shelter in Place Poki...or is it Poke? I'm so confused. FOOD - 4 stars...poki with a 'tude AMBIANCE - n/a... don't know, it was a delivery SERVICE - 4 stars...certainly came quickly enough, would have preferred a bowl TOTAL - 4 stars...#poke...right?
