"If Hashtag Poki was located in the middle of Interstate 80 during rush hour traffic, we’d still send you there—the deceivingly simple poke bowls are incredible. Fortunately, there’s no need to subject yourself to that 10th circle of hell. Just walk up to this fast-casual spot on a quiet stretch near campus to order. This is a build-your-own bowl situation: pick a fish like hamachi, albacore, and salmon so buttery it’s downright luxurious, and mix in the avocado, fried garlic, and housemade yuzu sauce. Once you’ve done it your way (and said goodbye to meat forever)—ponder pursuing life as an angler at sea. " - Julia Chen 1, Lani Conway

"Ever had poke so perfect you contemplated breaking your lease to go live on a boat in the Pacific and pursue a hunter-gatherer lifestyle? If the answer is no, one trip to Hashtag Poki in Berkeley will change that to an emphatic yes. Ordering at this counter-service, takeout-only spot in Elmwood is pretty simple. It’s a build-your-own situation where you pick from proteins like salmon, ahi tuna, hamachi, and tofu, and complement them with mix-ins like avocado, cucumbers, and jalapeño slices. The fish is, like we said, perfect—soft, never chewy or stringy, and leveled up even more when tossed in Hashtag Poki’s housemade yuzu, ponzu, or spicy mayo. Stopping by for a bowl is how we get a midday power-up—one will definitely fill you up but won’t leave you feeling heavy. While the poke bowls are the main attraction, don’t skip the made-to-order sushi rolls, donburi, or nigiri. The rice is always the ideal amounts of vinegar-y and sweet, and complements the fish in a way that’s hard to beat. Finish it all off, and continue to daydream about your life at sea. Or just return the next day for another lunch. Food Rundown Poke Box This is what you’re coming here for. Each box is fully customizable and fantastic across the board, so we won’t tell you exactly what to put in it—just make sure the housemade yuzu and ponzu are in the mix, along with some sushi rice. Rock And Roll A simple yet flawless roll. The eel is nicely tender and has an ample amount of unagi sauce, and the avocado is always buttery." - Julia Chen

I've been getting DoorDash from here for a while and it's always good. The fish and sides are fresh and taste amazing. Portions have gotten smaller but the price is well worth it because you get a lot of bang for your buck. Today I got takeout and liked the vibe inside. They greeted me at the door and were kind. I got a small bowl - half white rice, half greens, tuna, salmon, mac salad, wakame salad, green onions, edamame beans, ginger, furikake, cucumber, wasabi sauce, and ponzu sauce, all for around $15 after tip. I am a happy repeat customer!

Solid poke place with very good service. I recently tried out their new onigiri (not offered online yet). So they're calling it onigiri, but this thing is large, and it's more like a burger. I got the grilled salmon, spam, and egg one, and it was excellent, whatever they want to call it. Ordered with a roll and I was completely full and satisfied, really good value. I hope they give it a permanent place on the menu.

the menu was hard to read because they have these bright hanging lights dangling right in front of the menu. as far as the food goes, the protein scoops are TINY. also the amount of food you get overall is less compared to other poke places. the portions were stingy across the board. not my favorite spot, but the worker were nice!

Always the best service and food. Coming from Maui I was lucky to grow up with quality fish and having worked in restaurants I enjoy their food so much. I can tell the care and quality that goes into it. Love this place and have referred many because of how easy to customize with authenticity to the original styles! Also their wonton chips are somehow better than I can find anywhere else.

Fish was fresh, I thought the seasonings on the rice and fish were great. I had brown rice, salmon, albacore, shrimp. Seaweed salad and edamame. Photo of my takeout, the nice presentation got a bit scrambled when dropped it.

The place was BUZZING with flies ALL over the food. Not just one or two, but a swarm! Maybe eat at your own risk? Such a shame, I used to really like this place 😭

Delicious poke, fish was very fresh and I appreciate that the crab salad and seaweed salad were not extra. I got the salmon and ahi tuna.

For those unfamiliar with this style of cuisine, this type of fast casual restaurant primarily prepares a traditional Hawaiian seasoned raw fish salad served with a bed of rice as the base, your choice of cut raw seafood on top, and some veggies mixed in. It’s good, clean, and healthy eating. But the menu is meager when it comes to hot and cooked food. I mention this because I was looking for a basic cooked chicken over a bed of rice dish when I went, not knowing what their menu consisted of. Although they don’t offer any cooked chicken, their poki bowls are tasty. I particularly liked the seaweed and crab salad as my sides. Customer service was good. The team was patient, helpful and did well to explain the process of how to build a bowl. Do think the mini bowl portion size was plenty of food. Price was fair. Tip, only street side parking.
