Who cares about the food? This place has a great playscape, $1 local craft beer/wine on Thursdays, half-priced supper-time burgers on Tuesdays, free wi-fi, and is just a couple miles from my house. That's all I need to know.

Oh, alright, I tell ya a bit more. The food is just fine for the fast variety and it's even better when you remember that Hat Creek is a locally owned, home-grown business that's gone from burger truck to taking over Central Texas in just 10 years, with 8 brick & mortar locations in operation and 4 more on the way this year. Besides the typical fast food breakfast, burger, chicken, and shake options, it's very nice that they also serve local Cuvee Coffee and Strange Land craft beer on tap.
Hat Creek gives back by partnering with Mobile Loaves & Fishes to make sure that hungry people have a meal and they are always popping up at other charitable initiatives like Blue Santa, Make-a-Wish, Austin Diaper Bank, and so on. I *love* to give my business to a company who contributes to our community in this way.
If you're a member of The Thinkery (our local children's museum), you can show your card for 15% off your tab at Hat Creek. Mama likes discounts!
Mama also loves fermented, sour-tasting foods, and Hat Creek has great homemade pickles and spicy sauerkraut, plus a tasty assortment of tangy sauces that are perfect for slathering on or dipping into. And yes, they even serve FRIED PICKLES. Makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
Note to picky eaters and parents thereof: We've found that the Hat Creek burgers sometimes have too much black pepper for our son's delicate palate, so we usually go with the chicken "flasher" nuggets or grilled cheese option for him. Non-red-meat-eaters can choose from a turkey burger, veggie/grain burger, or grilled chicken breast for their sandwich or salad topper.
I think their service is plenty fast, but those in a big hurry will be happy to order online https://mavn.is/hatcreekburger/ and go straight to pickup upon arrival. Enjoy!
