Inconsistent but good burger A fun burger joint for kids and families. They have a colorful playground for the little ones and sports on the TV for the adults. They have burgers that are a little different from the norm and are typically pretty good. They offer hat sauce, similar to pepper corn sauce. I've had some really good burgers here, but not always. Not sure why the burgers are inconsistent, but note they are typically good. They have a variety of fries, including bay seasoned and sweet potatoes. Worth checking out if you have kids that need to burn some energy. If you go through the drive thru, you will find a wall of stickers left by customers. There are some interesting ones to see.

Really enjoyed this place. Food is solid, good burgers and fries. Real selling point for me is the outdoor playscape for the kids. There is outdoor seating near TVs (for sports) and you can have your kids play on the playscape while you have a burger, beer, and watch the game. 5 stars!

The atmosphere is friendly and the place is clean! They have a playground outside, how cool is that. Burger was fabulous, juicy and tender. Fries were seasoned and Tots were crunchy. Chicken nuggets were big chunks of white meat. Picture is left overs!

Hat Creek Burger is a very consistently excellent burger with lots of options and good pricing for the quality of food. A few things of note, the location is tricky at the corner of Bee Caves and 360. You basically have to come in from the 360 side and it's a bit tight especially when people are merging on 360 going highway speed. The set up of the parking lot is a bit strange you have to go around the drive thru to get to the parking by the entrance and the drive thru flips around the other way, there is a playground so it attracts a lot of kids, no big deal but something of note, the seating inside is good but can be limited on a busy day, the outside seating on the covered patio is great, out where the stone is not ideal the benches are very wobbly and it makes it hard to eat, definitely when sharing with multiple other people. The food is excellent they have lots of good sauces and the portions and pricing is very good. I also like the self serve kiosk to order, you do the whole thing yourself and they call you when it's ready.

You can get almost everything #glutenfree at Hat Creek. Been going for years and today’s visit lived up to my expectations for the local chain. Fast and tasty.

This is the best family burger join in Texas. The menu is attended to the whole family, even veggie options. They have hot dogs for kids, huge plus when negotiating meals. Wonderful burger options and always. Large, well-maintained playground.

One of the best places in Austin for families with young children. Amazing/safe/SHADED playground which you can see its entirety while eating (SHADED/covered) and allowing your kids to play. We have a 5, 3 and 2 year old and it’s perfect. Definitely recommend!

For the price point, this is a good restaurant for the value of the food and experience. If you have children, this is a great place to take them to eat. Kids can play on the playground and you can enjoy the good food. I like the app to order the food, although you might have to wait longer for it. The tables could really use a good deep clean. I had to wipe them myself but it seems this is the norm now at these types of places. I appreciate the gluten free options and other alternative diet friendly options.

This location has some really nice people working hard to serve good food. The dining spaces are also nice and pretty unique. Grilled chicken sandwich with some avocado is the way to go. The (Classic) burgers are big and very scrumptious, too. As long as your doctor hasn't recently warned you about your red meat consumption levels... I've been to two other locations of theirs that are curiously not as awesome as this one. I'm not sure why.

My husband and I decided to order and pick up some Hat Creek for our dinner. After my husband placed the order online they let him know and estimated pickup time. He left and came back with our food. I ordered the chicken sandwich and added bacon and avocado with the happy sauce instead of the mayo. The chicken patty was a good size. It was tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. The avocado was fresh but the bacon was soggy and unflavored. I prefer a crisper bacon. I could barely taste the happy sauce but luckily I asked my husband to get me some extra honey mustard sauce and I used it on my sandwich and with my fries. My fries were a mix of semi soft and crispy but had a decent flavor. Overall it was a quick and easy process. We will probably return in the future.

Great burgers! They even have a drive through if you're on the go. A little pricey. We didn't have any contact with staff as we used the order kiosk.

Food was good. Had four different burgers. I really like that you can make your burger a wrap. Drinks were good. Had two different shakes: the mint chocolate chip and cookies and cream, a beer and the skinny margarita. Location is good. Bathroom was an issue: had a lady walk in on my son. Lost a star for that. Kid friendly and dog friendly. Will def come back with our fur babies. See pics.

Stopped by during my lunch break and got the southwest burger. A little pricy for a burger, but the quality of the meat and the toppings were good.

Update for 9/1/23: We ordered lunch for delivery through an outside service. I'm not sure which one as my friend did the ordering. We all ordered little hat combos. None of the drinks or burgers were marked so we had to tests the drinks (diet vs reg). Then we had to open each burger and still got it wrong. I ordered onions but my friend didn't see the onions so she started eating that one that was mine! The fries were cold too. So unsure if it was delivery error or restaurant error. We only work 5 minutes from the place. Also, it came out to be 66 dollars!!! That seems like an awful lot considering the online price for a combo is like 12 ish bucks. Are delivery services charging that much?!?

My fave place to grab a gluten free or lettuce wrapped burger! They have a choice between turkey or beef. Tasty little spinach, sweet potato, and protein of your choice Paleo bowls as well. I've only ever gone through the drive-through probably about once a week. The staff that work here are hands-down, the friendliest most hard-working people in town. Many other establishments could learn a lesson or two from the exceptionally kind service I receive every single time I drive through.

My husband and I stopped here while in the area for a quick dinner. I had always wanted to try this place and it was not busy. Their menu online is labeled dairy and gluten free for certain items which is helpful for me to navigate the menu. When ordering I told them I was both and said I would have a the paleo bowl. I was asked if I wanted cheese on there. No I am dairy free lol anyway I also made it a combo so I could try their fries. My husband ordered one of the burgers and tots. My burger bowl was small and lacked flavor. I tried some of their sauces but had to look those up online. That took awhile because the sauce allergens were not accessible on the website. The fries were tasty and would get again. My husband said his burger was okay but very underwhelming with toppings. We both thought the tots were just okay. I was disappointed and apparently I have a different taste buds than most.

Hat Creek has become my new favorite! Love that they offer turkey burgers that are simply delicious! The staff always amazing & service top notch. Restaurants clean & inviting... or at least the two locations I frequent. The paleo salad has become my go to & I keep no dietary restrictions, its simply that good!!

Do not go to this location was there again today and the dining room is like a furnace it's so hot and uncomfortable. The food is absolutely terrible and not fresh. The other locations I been to are great avoid this location. And be aware the management at this location doesn't care about the customer

Food was great and the young man who rang us up was very polite. My daughter enjoyed the play area as well. Bathroom was clean too!

Solid quick and easy burger spot when you want a drink to go with your meal. Our burger cravings range from, we need something quick and easy all the way to lets go to a fancy restaurant and get a nice steak house burger. Sometimes, we just want something in the middle. Hat Creek solves that problem. They have a good amount of options when it comes to burgers and chicken options but they also have a great selection of alcoholic beverages. While I definitely won't say the patty is the best around, they shine in their sauces and buns. That wonderfully buttery bun makes up for a whole lot. To top it off, their sweet potato fries really hit the spot. Lastly, they have a nice offering of sauces to complement any taste you are looking for. We personally loved the fry sauce and disliked the others but I'm sure a lot of it depends on what you are feeling. All in all, great meal and you can walk out feeding the fam for under $30 with a beer.

My first time at a Hat Creek and without question... the BEST burger I have had since moving to Austin. I drive past this at least once a week and have always wondered what the food was like. Since moving, I haven't been overly impressed with some of the local burger chains. It was early morning and I wasn't aware they also serve breakfast but fortunately, they said they could go ahead and cook me a burger that time of day. I ordered the Sombrero burger which comes with pepper jack cheese and jalapenos. I really like a spicy burger! And I added fries with the order. It certainly didn't take long at all to receive my order and you just can't beat a freshly cooked burger and fresh fries. Their fries are thin but seem to have some of the skin on them. Lightly salted and really just perfect! Crunchy, but not too crunchy. Salty but not overly and hot but not burning my mouth hot. Now it came time to sample the burger; it's a double so it is quite thick. The bun was a bit toastier than I expected. But my first bite into this burger was pure bliss! I kept hearing about other burger places since moving to Austin but without question, this is the BEST burger I have had here in Texas. The meat was cooked just perfectly and there was plenty of cheese. It advertised as coming with some Yellowbird sauce, but whatever they put on the burger, it didn't overwhelm the taste of the burger. They also have sauces you can sample for the fries or your burger and this is the first time I've seen "fry sauce" outside of Utah. Simply, if you want a very fresh burger and amazing fries, this is the place to go! Very friendly staff, clean restaurant and amazing food. Honestly have driven past this place for the past six months always wondering. Now when I drive by the only thing I'm going to wonder is which burger I'll get this time! Wherever you live, this is worth the drive.

Typical burger joint - lots of seating both indoor and outdoor. Tons of burger options and sides, sauces galore and many drink options. Tried the Veggie Burger - it was pretty solid, good bun and tasty burger, a bit dry in my opinion though. Definitely recommend the sweet potato fries, they were sweet and crisp, dipped in sauce it was very yummy. Great place for large groups. Tons of seating options and fast service.

Local hamburger joint that has great burgers and good fries. I had tater tot's that were okay, not crispy but they were busy with high school kids during lunch. The location is great and the staff are friendly. They probably can't do much about the WL kids being obnoxious but would be nice if someone had calmed them down. Makes me sound like a "Get off my lawn" kind of guy but... Good food, good service and a nice outdoor area for the kids.

So disappointing. We have eaten at this location many times but today it was horrible. The young lady who took my order got it wrong, she was not paying attention at all. Then my burger came and it was not even warm. My cheese was not melted and it was not tasty. Sad to see this place off my list for good.

Hat Creek Burgers is the epitome of a great hamburger spot for a few reasons. First, they have a wider selection of burgers to choose from such as: - Big Hat Burger (Double Meat): their take on the classic double cheeseburger and they load it nicely. Filling portion at a great price. ($8) - 4.25/5 - Sombrero: a spicy double cheeseburger made up of pepper jack, jalapeños, grilled onions, and Yellowbird hot sauce ($8) - 4/5 Next, they have a few great items beyond just fries and sodas such as: - Fried Pickles: I like how they do fried pickle slices over spears since you get a good ratio of pickle to breading! ($5) - 4.25/5 - Tater Tots: always fun to see tots on the menu and I usually go for these over fries when I can ($3) - 4.25/5 - Grasshopper: a mint syrup, Oreo shake which was phenomenal. Definitely a top shake I've had in town! ($4.50) - 5/5 Also what's nice here is that they have 3 made-in-house sauces you can choose from. Happy Sauce is mustard-based and pairs well with the savory, meatiness of the Big Hat. Hat Sauce has more of a kick, so pair that with Sombrero to enhance it. Lastly, the Fry Sauce which is creamier goes great with the tater tots! All in all, they have some great qualities and some amazing ones. I was highly satisfied with my visit and would be back! That said, I rate them a 4.25/5!

STARVING in Austin looking for "Anything but Asian" demanding the daughter. What do YOU suggest??? I snap back in my best Joe-Pesci-Snickers-Mad sneer? BURGER. We just happened to be driving by Hat Creek as we were turning to the on-ramp out of the Bee Cave/ West Lake area and I'd heard they were pretty good. let's try them! Did NOT disappoint!!! Their menu is Simple and No Fuss Standard Double Burgers in solo or Combos; fries or tots or sweet potato fries and even Fried pickle chips! And they DO have a single patty burger (which was perfect for ME!) and their fries are Seasoned!! They have chicken n Veggie burgers too! They have a Kiddie Menu, and a selection of sauces for all you dippers as well as additions for your burger including jalapeños, cheeses, grilled onions and assorted condiments was great!! AND THE FRIESSSSSSSSS SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD. If you are the in Bee Cave/West Lake area this is Def a stop you want to make. They have several other locations in and around Austin and I've even been to the one by My house but I'm telling you This particular location has their act together!

They were super awesome fast and efficient. Right down the street, taking my lunch break has been easy.

The burgers are fantastic! Value for the money is terrific! We always order takeout so I cannot comment on ambience however it looks great. The customer service has been wonderful! The tater tots, fries and sweet potato fries are more like a 2 out of 5 which is why I only gave it 4 stars.

Went in today for the first time. Food is prepared as you order it. Service is nice and friendly. The burgers were quite tasty as were the fries and tater tots we had. The restaurant was clean, what more can you ask for when you want a quick lunch.

A decent fast food joint. I enjoy it a lot. One of the best parts is that all of their sides--including fried pickles--are gluten free!! They also have turkey patty and veggie patty substitutes. So lots of options.And their chicken flashers are gf! So yum. Cute place and camp-like, cabin decor. I think every location has a playground. A great spot for families or groups. I like their chicken flashers best. They aren't greasy fried but nice and crumby, with lots of flavor. And I love the fried pickles. Crispy and tangy! Also good sauces. All around a good spot.

Seems to always be a little hit or miss. This visit was definitely a miss. I met a friend there and we both had our kids with us, ages 5, 6, 6 & 13. My friend hadn't been to many Hat Creek locations and I thought it would be a good place for the kids to eat and play. One kiddo has a delicate palate and my friend asked if she could order a burger bun. The clerk at the counter couldn't figure out how to add that and someone else, whom I assumed was a manager came up to help. He told us he didn't have a button for just a bun. Ok, that's fine, we still want a bun. He said again, I don't have a button. At this point, I left the register to get the kids situated while my friend finished her order. When the food came, I noticed no extra bun and asked her about it. She replied, they didn't know how to add it so they didn't. Seriously folks?! I worked in the restaurant business long enough to know, you need to figure it out! Add a 25 cent charge, or a $1 charge, or heck, just throw in a tiny bun for free! It's a bun. Figure it out. Now I remember why we don't go more frequently. It's the little things that matter, especially when there's always little things that happen. I much prefer writing reviews to praise the "little things" that make an ordinary visit special. Unfortunately this was the opposite.

well by golly yes that right there is a five star rating for a fast food joint. why, do you ask? for starters the HCBC staff is awesome - they are always hard at work - showing a sense of urgency and sincere effort to keep customers fed and taken care of. speaking of the food - damn, those are some good groceries. might i recommend the pancakes (best in town), bfast tacos, fried pickles, sweet potato fries, turkey burger, chicken sandwich, or (of course) their burgers... oh yeah - and their margaritas ("gimme gimme more" -b.spears). did i just list almost their entire menu? hell yeah i did. this is not "your food is ready bc it's been sitting in a warming tray" place - no way. the food fresh and made to order. lastly, we love this location - as a mom of three i'm so thankful for the enclosed playscape and turf area where our kids seem to always make new friends and could *literally* play for hours while the adults sit on the covered patio sipping on beverages and nabbing fries from the kids' meals. imma wrap up this ramble but i'll end by saying great job HCBC staff - it's a blessing to have a great spot to spend a meal with friends and family. thank you!

Really greasy tater tots - like little oil sponges. They were crispy on the outside but greasy wet on the inside. The burger was good and gigantic but really nothing special - it wasn't bad. The location itself is crazy busy so perhaps at lunch be prepared for a wait. I'd come back but I would skip the tots. It was a decent burger and tasted good - just not the best thing I've ever eaten.

Great burger but my burger had raw bacon so I pulled it out of my messy wet burger. The taste was very well seasoned but the way my burger was given to me was so greasy I really couldnt eat it. The fried pickles were excellant recommend highly. So next time I wait for a long line for the takeout order by the window I give it second thoughts. The meat was probably the best thing and buns was better than being a solid whole burger to eat I never had to pick out the stuff I didnt like which not not picky on anything before dont think I will not return burgers should not be sloppy and wet. So next time I need to return my burger back but failed to do so. Sadly not a good experience.

Fried chicken sandwich combo! One of the best (fast food) chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Chik fil a who?!? Their fries are soo good and I really like their sauces too. I love that you can order a beer with the combo it's less than $7! Idk anywhere you can get a great deal like this spot. Hope this sandwich is here to stay!!

This area is just beautiful, the way in which its set into the side of a shaded hilly area. Plenty of room for the kids to play while mom and dad enjoy burgers. Get the fry sauce! It's amazing. They had frozen margaritas on the menu so I had to try one. It was small but mighty and the perfect thing to enjoy on a mild summer afternoon outside.

Not the easiest to get into and out of, particularly if you're trying to continue East after you eat, as the exit only lets you turn right and during rush hour it's almost impossible to get over four lanes to U-turn. Parking can be a problem when they get super busy and based on location when they're full they're full - there are no other nearby streets to park on. That all being said, the Sombrero burger - 5/5. Right now (May 2020) they're only doing drive-through and all workers are wearing masks and gloves, which is much appreciated. In pre-COVID days the fenced playground was a big hit with kids in the summer, and the deck was nice for enjoying a shake and burger with friends. Lots of long, wood picnic tables and spinning fans. Kids sized shakes are great for adults who can't handle too much sugar, and the flavor combinations are entertaining. They seem really keyed into the community, staying open late Friday nights when there's a home game for football. I'm giving it 4/5 overall not because of a lack of service or quality of food, but because of the simplicity of the menu (they have limited choices and no plated dessert options, just shakes). It's also 4/5 in comparison to other burger joints I've been to. BUT, if you're looking for a good quality, good price point classic burger and shake from a local chain for either dine-in or to-go, I think Hat Creek might do the trick.

On a normal spring evening you will find 20 children of all ages playing together on the playscape. The burgers are hot and delicious. They have fun options for sides, such as sweet potato fries. I thoroughly enjoyed my paleo burger bowl. It had a good sized patty of beef on top of fresh perfectly green spinach and charred sweet potatoes. They make the best milkshakes. A few family favs: dirt worms, cake batter and grasshopper! The food is yummy. The crew is nice and all are welcomed to come as they are. They have been exceptional to deal with during this pandemic my husband and I stopped by yesterday for take out. Fast, easy and still hot when we got the food home. Well done guys and gals!

Hat Creek has one of the best fast food burgers in the area. The quality and choice of ingredients is a notch above your average fast food chain. The price is as well. I love the shakes, sweet potato fries, and other off beat offerings that make Hat Creek a nice diversion from your regular go to burger joint. Give it a try. Prepared to have a full belly.

Really great staff. Fast drive-thru. Try the breakfast taco with grilled onions and jalapeños, with a bit of Hat sauce. Yum!​​

Quest the general manager actually got our order and boy I have to say: "this guy is awesome! The embodiment of great hospitality!" The food was great as well and the atmosphere was amazing.

I come here all the time now, several days a week. It amazes me how they are able to get you through the drive-thru so fast with piping hot burger and fries every time. Also every time I pull up to the mic, they are soo friendly. Not the fake Chickfila happy, but like a genuine nice. It improves my day, believe it or not.

Wow... our meal was horrible. My patty melt was so bland. The only thing that I could taste was black pepper. No other flavor. I only ate half of it. My wife's burger was the same way. She ordered the Sombrero and said the only thing that she could taste was black pepper. It also seemed to be missing the sauce and only had 2 jalapenos on it. The tater tots were greese bombs. I don't eat at Sonic often but, their tater tots are much better than Hat Creek's tots. I gave it 2 stars instead of one star was because the person who took our order was on point. We changed a couple of things and he got it all correct. Will I eat there again??? I will probably avoid this place at all cost. Why would I go back and spend $9 for a burger that was mediocre at best. I thought this place was supposed to be better than it was.

Ate lunch here today. Burgers and tater tots are great. The cashier was very friendly and helpful. They are willing to make adjustments to the items on the menu so that you get exactly the burger you want.

Service here sucks lady in the front gave us attitude and was very suck up. First time here & wont come back.

Customer service was great. Food just ok. Hubby got turkey burger, grilled chicken burger for myself. Definitely add some sort of sauce to your burgers. Everything is a la cart, including kids meals. Sweet potato fries were pretty good. 5 stars for the customer service and the playground! Would definitely come back to let the kids play and perhaps try a milkshake or $1 draft
