Walked in and we were immediately greeted by a very friendly host.
As you walk in the Sushi prep area is within feet of the door, there is also a small cash/host area. The 8-10 tables in the restaurant. This is a very cozy place with large windows that look out to the Islands Brygge park.
We were seated, and provided menus straight away. There is plenty of items to choose from and we decided to go with the Devil's Roll and the Sizzling Salmon Roll. The Devil's Roll and had tuna, cilantro, avocado, cucumber, spicy sauce and kimchee, and surprisingly the cilantro and kimchee are very complimentary flavours. Also having cilantro in a sushi roll was something new. Our other roll was a Sizzling Salmon - which had salmon marinated in a yuzu, sesame and soy sauce, then grilled and topped over a salmon, avocado, basil and spring onion roll. There was also a side dish of the sauce to dip the pieces in. The yuzu gave the roll a really interesting citrus flavour, which made this so very different than any other sushi we've had. Both were really very different than what we've had in other places, and what I would consider a bit of a Danish slant on Sushi.
The funny part of this place is the tea cups. We had ordered green tea and I've seen bigger bowls to mix your soya sauce and wasbi together. You might get 1.5 sips from the cup. The tea doesn't get a chance to get cold.
Overall I love this little place. The service was great, the sushi rolls were fabulous and I like how the different flavour profiles are meshed together to get something all together unique. Great job Hatoba. I'd highly recommend to anyone in the area.
