Hatorando Sushi and Sports Bar

Very solid sushi place. Had the Godzilla roll and the volcano roll. Both were good. My wife and my daughter had the dragon roll and the monster roll both of them said they were good. Great atmosphere being sports related around the place. Staff was awesome. No complaints.

Me and my friends came here looking for a new sushi place and will not be coming back here. Our server was very rude to us, we assume it was because we were younger as people like to make assumptions that just because we are young we are rude and won’t tip well. She wasn’t polite to us and we felt uncomfortable at the beginning. When we finally got our food it was just ok it wasn’t super great or good even just ok. Our server came and just stared at us without saying anything and we said the food was good to be polite and then she made a remark saying we killed the sushi but in a way that implied we were eating fast cause we’re big or something. Then when she came with the checks she included a gratitude tip included in the check. I’m not sure if they do this with all their checks at this place? but we were only a party of 3 so not sure why we got that. Then she gave us the check back with another place to tip on top of the 20 % tip she gave herself?? Food was ok and server was rude

Stopped in for lunch. Found an open seat at the Sushi bar. Nice atmosphere, friendly service, good options to watch a sports event. Ordered the Detroit Tiger Roll and Overtime, rolls both were good. Yellowtail, squid, scallop and tuna nigiri were good, nice sized pieces of sushi. The octopus salad was good, nice pieces, great sauce, along with cucumber and seaweed salad. Will visit again when in the area!

I’m staying not too far from this restaurant. This is my first time here, and the sushi is really delicious, especially the Spider Roll—something with deep-fried soft-shell crab. I love it! The wait wasn’t too long, but it did take some time, which I understand. I’ll definitely come back again.

We love the staff here- We are always greeted with smiles and great service. The sushi is the best around & my husband and I are big fans of the Thursday night trivia. Definitely worth checking out!

Can’t say enough good things about the food and service! Highly recommend the Hot girl and Volcano roll. Jess always greets me with a smile and great service… also can’t beat $2 beer Wednesday. The owner is typically in and matches the staff friendliness and have always not only made me feel welcome but a wanted customer. Without hesitation try it!

The sushi was absolutely amazing! The ambiance could use a little work. It is certainly a sports bar vibe. Service was super slow but the drinks were strong so we barely noticed!

This place does a great job at executing the sushi rolls. I’m a huge sushi fan and have been searching for one for quite some time in MI that is near me. I come from vegas where the rolls are flavorful and always a treat. This place definitely provides variety and sure does tickle your taste buds. If you are hesitant on trying sushi - don’t be…they have a list of cooked rolls. I take all sushi newbie friends here (hence the California roll on the plate) and they all like it. Beware - you will never go back to a California roll after this place…..Great job Hatorando! Also - the sports bar atmosphere is nice. It’s like a special treat for me (to get my sushi fix) and then the hubby gets to watch his sports.

Stopped by Hatorando Sushi & Sports Bar and loved the vibe! It's a cool mix of sleek sushi bar and lively sports atmosphere--quite the combo. The sushi rolls were fresh and inventive. Watching the game while enjoying top-notch sushi made for a fantastic evening. Service was friendly and quick, even though it was busy. Definitely a new favorite spot for game night or whenever I'm craving great sushi. Highly recommend!

The Avocado Bomb was phenomenal. I also got the Hatorando Roll, which was completely different than expected but also very good! My parents got Soft Shell Crap Po Boys and were very happy!

Such a great venue! Went there for Fathers Day and ordered a wide variety of items to introduce the kid to MORE. We ordered the Octopus Salad, Fried Squid, Tempura Shrimp, different types of Sashimi, Spring Rolls, Vegetable Dumplings, Udon, Fried Rice. We were taken care of by lovely Brandy, who advised and tended to all of our needs. This was a great experience and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anybody wanting to try it or who enjoys Japanese American cuisine!

This is a laid back sushi restaurant. It's part sports bar and sushi joint. My daughter and I came in with me in leggings and daughter in jeans and cowboy boots. No judgement! My waitress, Emma, was PHENOMENAL! I'm allergic to garlic and she checked everything that we ordered to make sure there was no garlic. We ordered the tempera shrimp and sweet potatoes, Cali roll, monster, and tuna tempera. I would pass on the tuna again. The rest was delicious. Nothing was left on the table. I even order saki to go. I'm not from this area and probably won't be around here in the near future, but I recommend coming here for relaxed, delicious dinner!!

Sushi is awesome Super fresh Awesome menu ideas and creativity as well Presentation is key here Price is fair, but I've seen higher for sushi, so this is normal I would definitely come again

I was not expecting such good sushi from a "sports bar"... but it was absolutely delicious! Good quality fish too. I got the smoked salmon nigiri and it was so flavorful! That was absolutely my fav part of the meal. I also got the miso soup, pink world roll, and sunshine roll. I thought it was all great. I think we will be returning!

I had a cold sushi roll and it came out warm as hell and now I got the shits (the bubbley tummy type of shits) would not recommend

I loved looking at all of the sports memorabilia. We have been a few times on our way through town. Each time, our server has been great. Lots of interesting sushi choices and some of the usual sushi staples. Highly recommend.

Food OK but how do you have a restaurant that serves hamburgers and not have mustard? Server over worked while others stood around.

My in laws live about 5 minutes from this bar, so the husband and I decided to give it a try while visiting. Definitely a cool sports bar atmosphere that is very clean. Miso soup was complimentary for both of us since we ordered sushi rolls. It was very good! We eat A LOT of sushi so we are picky when it comes to our sushi. This was "above average" for flavor. For my rolls, I ordered avocado and it was very fresh. The wasabi was just okay. The soy sauce was the most disappointing; it just didn't have much flavor to it. I also prefer restaurants that offer the low sodium soy sauce. Decent pricing on par with other sushi restaurants. We had excellent service as it wasn't busy at all on a Saturday around noon for lunchtime. Server was very attentive and brought us drink refills promptly. We will visit again soon to give another try!

I would jump back 1/2 of a star due to some glitches however, the food presentation and taste is excellent and although I feel that's a necessity in every eating venue, I definitely think it's a must in a sushi restaurant... sports bar or not! I'll post several pictures. So you can see the stunning presentations for yourself. For the quality of the meal and volume of the food, I also felt the price was good. Is it Cheap????.... no! But quite honestly I've never been to a sushi bar good, bad, or otherwise that was inexpensive. If the creations they make are going to be quality then their product is going to cost and they have to charge accordingly. So what do we discuss first??? The not so good or the good? Let's get the not so good over with. I contacted them via their email from their website in which they invite you to contact them to let them know that I was from out of town and unfamiliar and didn't know if they took reservations or required reservations as our party was going to be eight people. I then reached out to let them know it was going to be seven people and then when I didn't hear anything back I called them and got a voicemail so I left a message letting them know that it was going to be eight people after all and that we would be coming in around 5 PM. Most of us did arrive right at five and the hostess helped us get our seating arranged. It was actually a table for 10 (and no one seem to know anything about my emails or call) but there was no where to stash the two extra chairs which would've been nice as it would've given us a little more room and a little less distance for conversation. She also was kind enough to bring a high chair for the one non adult in our party. My niece had brought me to this restaurant once before and it was her and her husband's favorite and interestingly enough the one and only time I was there, our server was Daffnee and she was our server tonight as welk. She is a very sweet girl. She had done a great job with our orders first time I dined there ( there was 5 of us that day) and especially with eight people today and several ordering several different things -I thought she did an excellent job of keeping everything straight! Several of us ordered adult beverages. They have a really nice variety of beers, wines, and a full bar as well. My niece and I tried the Mule of the month which was a citrus mule and it was very good. I ordered five appetizers shortly after we ordered our drinks -so that the table could share them. After about a 20" wait one appetizer, the Spicy Tuna Poppers came out to the table. (Daffnee had placed chopsticks napkins silverware small plates all in the center of the table so we could help ourselves but when you have eight people and an appetizer that has six pieces- I was embarrassed to even send it around!) and hopeful that the next three appetizers would be out momentarily. That was not to be the case, about 15" later the steamed edamame came out- 5" after that tempura shrimp and sweet potato arrived, and five minutes later potstickers and dipping sauce. In the meanwhile after talking to Daphne and determining that they were getting a lot of takeout orders which was holding up the internal orders?? We decided we would go ahead and order our main courses during the midst of the lapse between the appetizers instead of waiting any longer. I was afraid of the length of time it might be to make everything and get it to us. Pretty much everybody tried something different! The positives were the flavor of the food and the presentation as I mentioned before. The Hota rondo role was beautiful. The hot girl roll, California roll, redwing roll, rock 'n roll were all appealing to the eye and delicious. The plate of the night was the volcano dragon roll! Oh my gosh I've never seen anything so incredibly beautiful. A huge sushi roll with large chunks of freshly cooked lobster amongst other seafood, including the lobster tail shell on top as decor! It was gorgeous!!! Yes, we do have one family member that does not care for pretty much any Japanese style food so he had the Hartland burger with cheese and a side of fries and said it was good. Others of us ordered Chicken Yaki soba, Veggie Yaki soba, Beef Yaki soba, sides of white rice and spicy mayo, and either a Ginger salad or the Miso soup was provided to any of us that wanted it with our main course. We departed the restaurant about 715. I will definitely come back to give Hatorando's Sushi & Sports Bar another try when I return to Michigan in March. Hoping the delay and staggering of the appetizers was just a glitch

Folks, Hartland is not the epicenter of cuisine. We have some tried and true restaurants, but when I saw the sushi sports bar concept, I was skeptical. I gave it a shot and am so glad I did. It is set up like part sushi bar and start sports bar, with sports memorabilia on the walls and classic rock playing in the background. They have tempura and cooked rolls for the sushi novice but they also have nigiri, sashimi, poke bowls, teriyaki, as well as some very tasty rolls, with cool names, like the Detroit Tiger and the Red Wing. They have hamburgers, chicken tenders and fried rice for those who won't give sushi a try. Thursday night is 1/2 of wine. Limited selection, but works with the sushi. Beer, cocktails and of course, Sake. Love Carrie (server) and the guys making the sushi! The dumplings are always good way to start as you decide what to eat!

This place used to be great. It really went downhill. Service is slow. The food is very bad quality. Incredibly overpriced. Employees were eating while prepping in the kitchen. Our waitress ignored all her tables and spoke to her friend 99% of the time. Multiple customer complaints while we were there.

Usually my boyfriend and I love Hatorando, it's the only place we will go for sushi. The service is usually amazing with everyone being extremely friendly. Not tonight. I'm extremely disappointed in how we were treated when we called and went into the restaurant for dinner tonight. The waitress we talked to on the phone ran to the hostess stand when we arrived and was extremely rude in the way she talked to us and how she treated the actual hostess that was trying to help us. I understand being busy, having a wait, and the sushi bar running behind. But being rude because of those things is completely uncalled for. Especially to customers that come in at least one time a week and know a handful of the employees there. I've heard they are under new management so that may be the problem. I hope they get this figured out because this is by far the best sushi place around here.

My brother owns a very yummy, high quality sushi restaurant elsewhere and i have never been able to find a place to compare... until i ordered this place! Wow! All of the food was super hot even after being doordashed far. The California crunch roll was sooo AMAZING! The edamame was sooo delicious. The chicken fried rice was good but could use more spice, which i will ask for next time. I couldn't believe the food was 1000x better than sushi zen, even after being delivered. Thanks hatorando for my new sushi spot!

We came here the other day with our 2 year old and the staff was so kind and friendly. We got three rolls all of which were amazing! We will definitely be coming back to support the local business! Also we love the idea of sports and sushi. What more is there to ask for?!

Slipping again on quality and service! Writing a review because we really enjoy everything about this place, but the last few visits have been not great. Tonight was over the top poor.... 90 minutes to get food! 5 of us; 9 rolls and a sashimi salad. Place was fully staffed; bar tender, 4 servers, and 2 chefs. 2 couples at the bar, a 4 top, a 3 top, and us. Walked in at 4pm at the end of the Lions game and out at 6:20pm. Food finally came out and was slapped together. Not the usual quality. The waitress tried, but after an hour she just stopped coming by the table. Really bad experience. Please get your act back together, at a minimum please talk with whomever runs the Sunday evening crew. We'll try one more time.... 2 stars only because we go all the time and want change, otherwise not even 1 star.

If you want a place that is comfortable; you can watch any sport and/or event you like on several TVs around you; the cocktails are amazing sushi is incredibly fresh and you can't get enough---this is Your Place! You leave more full than you want to be; Extra for home late, "Yummy", A Great Place to gather and enjoy with family and friends and Loved Ones!

Incredibly stingy with the eel sauce and spicy mayo. The containers they use for their to-go don't keep the food warm.

Best sushi in Hartland and surrounding area. Sam is awesome sushi chef. Having a restaurant and a sports bar together makes it even better

Sushi was sloppy. Sweet potato in the sweet potato roll was hard. Miso soup was horrible. WAY too much miso in it and extremely salty. Clearly prepared by someone who has no clue what miso soup is supposed to taste like or what healthy levels of sodium are. Egg rolls were delicious but not worth $9.

My bartender Jess was absolutely amazing. It was my first time here and she made the experience so much more memorable because i never really liked sushi but now i have a new found love. I will definitely be coming back anytime she is on shift!

Great sushi sports bar. Yes, you heard it right. Interesting concept that totally works. Fantastic sushi and other Japanese style food set in a sports bar atmosphere. Tons of great sports memorabilia all over the place. They also have American food, but our group only had sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious. The place is very clean and they are taking all the proper precautions. Super friendly staff and great owners. The owner came by to talk and thank every table for their patronage. They opened during the pandemic and have faced capacity restrictions from the start. I look forward to them being able to pack the house in the future. Give this place a try; you won't be disappointed!

Best sushi I've ever had. I always bring people here raving about their sushi and they never disappoint. All of their servers are amazing abs everything they make is spectacular. My favorite is the firecracker.

It's an ok sushi place. I've only gotten takeout a few times, never dined in. Much easier to get in than Sushi Zen but the quality and variety of rolls isn't as good. Salad is great. Soup is ok. Rolls were great, just not my favorite types. Overall a great local place and we're happy to have it so close to home.

Ok who decorated this place??? Everything was grey literally everything, it was weird. Servers were very inexperienced and awkward, we were told after 30 min of waiting for our food that "they had a lot of carryout orders" not my problem at least buy me a drink!!! The food was just ok at best, got a roll that had that had cream cheese as one of several ingredients but the roll was 70% cream cheese it was like taking a bite out of a brick of Philadelphia. My wife's wine tasted like vinegar obviously it was an old bottle that had sat open...yuck! Although you would think that a Sushi sports bar would be a weird combo I would definitely be their target customer as I love both things. Just totally missed the mark on a customer who spends $100 a week on Sushi and drinks. Good idea but lackluster execution. Don't bother go somewhere else.

Been here a couple times. Sushi is alway excellent and atmosphere is great. During busy times there may be a short wait but never been longer then 15-20 minutes.

I would do take out from here. Eating inside is a little too close for comfort with other customers (usually not wearing masks and walking around). The sushi chefs had masks on and that made me feel okay ordering the food. But for a place that's only a month old, the floors were super sticky. I have to also agree with the other review about the plastic mouth guards. It literally rests on the hostesses chin so when she talks it came down below her nose and mouth. What's the point? I get the generally feeling they don't really take it seriously. The tables are close together and I watched a server take a soy sauce from one table and set it on another which I'm pretty sure is not suppose to be happening. Rolls were okay, nothing crazy or special. Fish was fresh which is nice for this area. I would say that if they cared a little more about cleanliness I'd up the stars but it was such a turn off.

Great atmosphere and staff and the best sushi I've had anywhere. Always super fresh with thick-cut, generous portions. They also have fried rice, noodles and other fare for the kids or others who aren't into sushi...a big bonus, so I can get my fix.

To start on a positive note, the bar has a very cool and fun atmosphere. The sushi on the other hand, is awful. A spicy tuna roll was very sticky and the "tuna" was not fresh. The wait staff isn't really versed in sushi or a Japanese menu. Ordered tempura and again, a fail. The vegetables were buried in a hard coated shell. Tempura should be light with emphasis on fresh vegetables. Meet your friends here for a drink? Sure. But I strongly advise you find your sushi elsewhere.

I absolutely love the concept of this restaurant! Sushi & Sports.... two amazing things!

I was so disappointed I should have sent my food back. I got a mango bomb. I love mango and this tasted awful. It had imitation crab chopped up inside that looks like you get from Walmart. My daughter got teriyaki chicken and it was average. It tasted exactly like grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce on top. Nothing special, but at least she can eat her food. I'm regretting not sending my food back. I couldn't eat my mango dish. It was also very small for $15.

My experience wasn't anything spectacular. Bartender kept me waiting a while just to take my takeout order. The kumo roll was really good. The octopus salad was good but was such a tiny portion for $8 and was a complete rip off. I had 3 bites and it was gone...they could have at least gave me a little more lettuce or something smh. After spending nearly $25 dollars on this "meal" I'm still hungry.

Oh So good! My new go to 'Tofu & Veggie soup' for the upcoming long cold winter nights! Excellent

Party of 6, morphed to ten. With the kitchen closing within the half hour they were super accommodating. They moved us to a larger table and managed to get all of our orders and drinks within the time limit. All of our food was delicious and the bottled beer special was an added bonus. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered! Our waitress was wonderful and the Owner came to the table to see how we were doing and introduce himself. Nice touch!

This is the place Hartland has been needing! With everything going on they are open and professional about it. Every time I go i have a pleasant experience, I had had an issue before but they did everything they could to make it up and I respect that because thing happen. Everyone is so nice and they really make you feel welcome!

We Heard of this new place and decided to give it a try. It was just okay. I liked the idea of a sushi sports bar. It's very clean and nice inside, you can tell it's new. You can also tell all the waitstaff and bartender are new to the industry, no one really seemed to know what to do. We had the spicy tuna jalapeño poppers which were just good, nothing special, not worth the price. You get 4 small pieces for $9. We also had to the volcano roll.. it was not good at all. I saw the chef use a torch on it the roll tasted like butane or some sort of chemical. Service was below average. We won't be back. If you want good sushi and good service stick to SUSHI ZEN in Brighton.

The staff are so friendly, kind and patient! The food is amazing and delicious!! Will definitely be going back. Can't wait to go back!

Guy behind the bar is terrible. Forget trying to get people to come to your place for dollar beers if your bartender doesn't want to serve people. It was obvious he doesn't want to be there on dollar beer night and maybe he treats people better who order more expensive items. We must not be good enough for good service. Cool looking place though, food- who knows? Didn't want to order food from him, probably too much to ask.

The sushi is great. The chefs do a nice job. The staff is for sure inexperienced but they try hard. As far as the ownership they give their staff no help and just sit at the end of the bar drinking. They always seem to be loud and drunk. Shame on the ownership because this place could be really good

Second time in a row this place has disappointed me. First time is I could get no one at all to help me when I walked in. I actually had to go track someone down only to end up leaving. I tried agin tonight to order 9 items carryout and they said they were not taking anymore carryout orders tonight... 8pm on a Friday. Let's face it... 9 items on their menu that averaged $13 an item is ridiculous to turn away. Never again... Sushi Zen is not that much farther.

We tried, we really tried, Hatorando. I rooted for you from the beginning when everyone else thought the idea of sushi sports bar was asinine. We tried your restaurant four times, and all times were disappointing. The first was shortly after the pandemic shutdown, so we wanted to support a small business and cut them some slack if things were a little slower than usual. We received our rolls an hour after pick up time and they were all in one container, looked so sloppy, and we couldn't tell who's rolls were who's. We returned to the restaurant to express our disappointment, we were made fresh rolls and the owner offered buy our next meals. We never held him to that because again, trying to cut slack to struggling small businesses. This most recent visit we dined in. They were short staffed, so we worked with that. It took over an hour for two rolls, as we watched other orders being served that were placed before ours. I'll admit, the rolls are very good, but the hassle to get them, is quite lacking.

Couldn't be happier for another restaurant to open in Hartland. This will be a new hot spot right by our office. Love the draft beer options, the spicy tuna poppers and the Las Vegas roll. 5 star food, atmosphere, and staff!
