Hattakamamakarn (Sriracha Chili Sauce Gold Medal Brand)

A very humble shop with a very kind and humble owner! He even offered a free taste so you could choose the spiciness level you can handle. I got a small bottle for my stay in Thailand and a big one to bring home. This isn’t the typical “ketchupy” kind you find in stores — it’s a real sauce, and I love this original version! I’ll definitely visit again and buy more bottles when I return. Pro tip: Buy the bigger bottle if you love your food spicy and saucy like me!

Hattakamamakarn – A small shop located across the street from Rachabopit Temple. It’s the only place where you can get Gold Medal Sriracha Sauce, produced for four generations with history dating back to 1932, which makes it the oldest registered brand of any Sriracha sauce. Comes in two strengths – Mild and Strong, and three sizes are available.

Wonderful! The owner is the 4th generation in the family and was kind to spend time answering our questions. We tasted both the original and hotter versions of the award winning sauce which is made once per month following the traditional technique. We bought some and also swapped a bottle with our own hot sauce ‘Yoyo Laos Sauce’ which we produce in Laos. Well worth a visit!

Very flavourful (and spicy) sriracha made in the original, traditional manner. Highly recommend. 30 bath per bottle.

Found thanks to OTR on YouTube! The kindest grandpa selling original sriracha sauce, his mother was the creator of the recently. He says he still males it himself. Small bottle was only 30baht, and i add it to absolutely everything now! Tangy, spicy, so good, better than store bought ones i tried! Please go ahead and visit him when you are in the area!❤️

Super good sriracha sauce ! I went there out of curiosity because I heard this family has been making this emblematic sauce for generations, so I bought two bottles to try it out and it truly tastes amazing!

I fear the viral fame has created a lack in quality of the product. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon as this place is a short walk from the temples. Upon arrival he only had two bottles left for sale and I immediately requested both, which were priced at 35 THB per bottle. The bottles were unlabeled, but he assured me they were both the strong version. I got to sample the strong version and it was quite tasty although it could have been spicier. To my dismay once I got home and opened the bottles they were in fact not the strong version and were essentially water down ketchup. I am glad that I tried it before giving the other bottle as a gift since my Vietnamese in-laws would definitely have judged me. Additionally, the shop keeper does have select bottles in the back only for Thai customers. They are bigger and priced much better. I am sure the quality is higher as well after experiencing what I brought home. Overall the shopkeeper was a nice guy, but the quality is not consistent and not worth the time. Thankfully the price was low so I don’t feel too bad.
