"With Nintendo 64 and NES, drag shows, and board games at the customer’s disposal, Hattie’s is a freewheeling dive bar, steering dive culture for the better. On the dog-friendly outdoor patio (and the cozy, dog-friendly inside with treats for pups), visitors enjoy the themed cocktails or the impressive plenty of North Carolina brews on tap while playing a cutthroat game of bingo. It’s a friendly crowd, not so interested in trendy, packed-to-capacity bars in flashier parts of town." - Kayleigh Ruller

Best Old Fashioned I've ever had. Their mixologist Tee was knowledgeable, friendly, and welcoming. Fantastic place to drink a few, play pool, darts, or join in on fun weekly events. Great back patio too.

Google
The bartender Zach was super rude. Me and my best friend went to the bathroom together because she needed a tampon and he knocked on our door and screamed at us saying we cannot be in the bathroom together. Do not recommend this place. Needs a better atmosphere and better people who are actually respectful of womanly situations.

Kaity Baxter

Google
T and Matt were fantastic hosts. The sweetest guys around. Monday night WWE RAW on the TV and free pool. Super queer friendly. What more can you ask for? Just go here nerd. Edited to add: Why y'all got Matt doing Charlie Work? That baby needs to be playing pool and singin' the blues.

Google
Love Hatties Tap & Tavern in Charlotte NC so much. So happy I finally tried this place after so long. Such friendly service and amazing prices. We had four beers for $29. They have a bunch of local stuff as well as your typical PBR’s etc. They also have a super cool, shaded back porch and their space inside is super dog friendly. Treats, bowl’s everything!! Can’t wait to go back!!! 🐾🎉❤️

Google
This is a comfortable dive bar with good beer, drink specials, and retro video games available. There is a pool table and dart boards for use as well. Excellent live music was playing last time I was there. No food was available, so we brought our own burgers. The table behind us ordered a pizza from outside. The staff were helpful. There were also two dogs (of customers), on leashes. Great spot for a night out!

Google
I give this place 2 stars because the event at Hattie’s last night (11/15) “dance or die” is what saved this rating from being 1 star. Everything was great until the bartender gave us grief about not tipping immediately. We grabbed our drinks to make a quick toast and the bartender (white male with mustache wearing a tank top) gave us such grief about “not tipping immediately”. Truly an a-hole moment from him. It almost killed our mood but luckily the music was amazing and brought us back up immediately. We understand bartenders need tips, but don’t assume our actions and be an a-hole and become accusatory about it and make us feel like we’re putting your livelihood at risk.

Loved this place til I left my card here on New Year's and when I went to retrieve it tonight the lady told me the bartenders have to pay for the open tabs at the end of the night out of their own pocket. Maybe y'all should rethink that policy. My tab was only $4 but it's a messed up policy, can't support that. Edit to reply: that's what the lady behind the bar tonight told me about an hour ago, so maybe someone should let her know that it's not true and to not tell people that because it made me feel awful. I left a $20 tip because I felt so bad, now I'm thinking she just said that to keep the tip, although when I asked she assured me the bartenders from that night would get my tip. So now I feel awful, lied to, and swindled over a $4 tab.

This is a great little spot. Always such a fun crowd and good barstaff.

Yelp
Great place to hang out, outdoors also. Really liked the bartenders, super helpful with a great vibe :) I enjoyed the great chats with the other customers also. Very much worth a visit!

Yelp
Small dive bar with character! Old school video games, daily drink specials, and nice bartenders. Check it out!

Zara T.

Yelp
We pop in for bingo (second Tuesday of the month) and always have a great time! Parking can be a bit of a challenge, so I often find myself parking across the street, though I'm usually going at a busier time. The bar is divey, and you can find very cheap drinks, especially if you go for the daily specials. The bartenders are nice - beware that they do keep your card if you keep your tab open - and seem to know the regulars. In addition to monthly bingo, they seem to host drag events, have video games and board games available to play, as well as several TVs. Plus, dogs can go inside and out. The bar does not serve food, though usually there is a vendor there. Looking forward to next month!

Aub R.

Yelp
I wrote a google review under the name Aubrey, unfortunately I can't reply to the owner so I'm going to leave another one here in response. The blonde female bartender seemed jealous of me, maybe because she knew my date. I got denied service after two beers. For no reason. I was tipsy at most and treat people with respect (as long as I'm treated with respect, you get what you give). Maybe you should tell your staff to mind their p's and q's instead. I went outside on the front patio and there were people slurring and falling over, but they didn't get denied service for some reason? I'll also mention that the bars this area, minus chasers, cater to 40 year old rich housewives and tech bros who feel cool being seen drinking a pbr. Obnoxious because I'm the .01 percent of people native to the area and I'm getting denied service by a stuck up woman who is probably from Ohio.

Zach C.

Yelp
Best dive bar in Charlotte, North Carolina! Halfway between plaza Midwood and NoDa on the North East side of Charlotte (aka the cool part ). If you need a PBR and some Karaoke in a dog friendly and LGBTQ+ friendly environment with board games and an N64 - this is the place for you! Outside seating available as well. Great local bar - always hosts live music and other community events.

Andrew G.

Yelp
I do love Hatties. Great cheap beer and draft beer options. The people watching here is top notch. The bartenders can be dicks sometimes, but I don't mind. I just smile and tip more. Gives the place more character.

Amanda B.

Yelp
Hattie's is by far my favorite bar in Charlotte! Always a great vibe and amazing staff.

Anthony P.

Yelp
Best dog bar in Charlotte, LGBTQ+ friendly, tons of TVs playing sports and movies, a wall with old school video games, a cabinet of tabletop games, free pool and darts, and a decently large but secluded back patio. It's hard to describe quite how special this place is; for all the features and fun things to do, the venue has an effortless vibe and the drinks have the best prices you can find in the city. Don't let that fool you; just about everyone on the bar staff has extensive experience as trained cocktail bartenders, and the top shelf is nothing to scoff at. There are also regular karaoke nights, movie events, and a steady rotation of absolutely amazing food tents and trucks coming through in the parking lot. If you're chill and want to see where the locals hang out, give this storied dive a go!

Jessica F.

Yelp
Called to ask about how the parking was because I use a wheelchair. I stated this in the phone call. I was unsure if there was parking in front, in the back, or down the street. The guy who answered the phone was very rude and told me "you'll see when you get here." After saying repeatedly I use a wheelchair and need to know I finally got him to tell me it's in front. Will not be going here.

Paul S.

Yelp
Cheap drinks, free games, good bartenders, karaoke on Thursdays and quiet nights are the best!

Marci D.

Yelp
We went on a Sunday afternoon for my friends birthday and there was a football game on and we were greeted SO warmly by the staff and patrons both! What a fun atmosphere!!

Taryn R.

Yelp
Hattie's is my new, favorite neighborhood bar and I don't even live in the neighborhood! When we wandered in around 6pm on a Saturday, we were one of only two couples in there. I was relieved to find a bar in Charlotte that wasn't packed to the max on a Saturday. It was a breath of fresh air. By the time we left around 9pm, it had filled up but not obnoxiously so. I was very impressed by their beer selection. I was expecting PBRs and Bud since they are billed as a dive bar, but they had offerings from Old Meck, Legion, Birdsong, NoDa... All the local favorites! I settled on the OMB Dunkel Weissen and sidled up to the old school Nintendo tempting me from across the room. Sadly, there was no gun to play Duck Hunt so we settled on a little Mario Brothers instead. We poked our heads out back and holy patio, Batman!! Hattie's might just be hiding the best patio in Charlotte! It was rainy and cold the night of our visit but rest assured, once the weather gets better, we will be permanent fixtures out there with our dog.

Jason B.

Yelp
Hattie is a neighborhood gem! Unpretentious, welcoming to all, and great drink special. They have lots of fun nights: bingo, karaoke, live bands, games , and community fundraisers. Friendly staff and cool people! It's a great place for a drink after work! They have an entire wall of gaming systems as well! People love to play them!

Jeannine S.

Yelp
Well, this is certainly a dive bar, that's for sure. Hattie's is filled with a diverse group of people, which I absolutely love. I've never met anyone there that wasn't friendly...both regulars, newcomers and bartenders. They have a great selection of beers, too! Since it's not too packed, it's usually quick to get a drink at the bar. Yeah! The outside patio is such a gem. They have a bunch of picnic tables out there, so I definitely recommend grabbing one of the games inside and playing outside when the weather is nice. Inside is a little dingy. I've been here a few times when the band was playing. The acoustics aren't great and it just ends up sounding loud (so it's hard to enjoy the music at a normal level). The bathrooms never seem very clean and on Saturday, the door lock wasn't working on one of the bathrooms. I would say there are better places to have a beer, but if you're in the Plaza Midwood area and just want to chill and have a cold one, you can't go wrong with Hattie's.

Morgan H.

Yelp
Attentive bartender staff. Followed CDC guidelines. Large outdoor area. Free pool! What more could someone ask for. Hattie's has a homie vibe that allows you to feel safe & truly enjoy your time during the pandemic. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Devin S.

Yelp
A classic hipster bar in NoDa/Plaza Midwood bridging the gap between the between the two neighborhoods, and an incredible beer list. If there, ask for Monica, one of the best bartenders in Charlotte! Hopefully you can catch one of their awesome Alt rock shows!

Anna E.

Yelp
While at this bar one night I was harassed by the bartender and his girlfriend. It was an awful experience and I will never return to the bar and also let everyone that I know in Charlotte that it's not a good bar to go to. Don't waste your time here. There are plenty of better bars in Charlotte where are you won't get harassed by the people that work there.

Larry H.

Yelp
I've been here for about 3 minutes and can already tell I like it here. Super friendly welcome from the front door to the bartender. Awesome beer selection.

Michael N.

Yelp
It was a dark and stormy night. And I'm not kidding. The nearest place to get dry and have a drink was Hattie's. Yelpers have raved about this dive bar, so I needed to see for myself. Definitely a dive bar with a Capital "D" - but that's not a bad thing. A live band was rocking out with "It's All about that Base". Lots of little details here and there and of course the mural is awesome! Whoa! Look at that beer selection - not only do they have 20 plus taps, but their canned and bottled selection is astounding - everything from Fullsteam Summer Basil to Natty Bo! A little something for everyone!! Apparently they also put the "C" in Cold Chillin'.

Michael W.

Yelp
This is my local bar. Don't come here.. we don't want it to get busy. Their beer selection is great, they have a super friendly staff and the ambiance is outstanding. Honestly, I'm going to be upset six months from now when this place is packed and I can't find parking. It's seriously a gem nestled between the Midwood/Villa/NoDa. The 'coolness' factor in this place is legit. I can't say anything bad about this place. It's buy stock in Hattie's if I could.

Sharon H.

Yelp
Hattie's is the best! The most welcoming environment in Charlotte. Plus - they ACTUALLY follow mask policies and covid protocols. I feel SO SAFE there and the staff is so wonderful. Don't be a jerk and you'll always have a home at Hattie's!

Griffin T.

Yelp
First thing to note about Hattie's: it's awesome! This is my roomate's favorite spot in Noda and he's been insisting I go for a while now. Hattie's was introducing a new beer to the area: Smore's by Blue Blaze-honestly one of the best beers I've had. Although, I would much prefer it in the later months into fall. The inside features a pool table, dart board (which we took full advantage of) pinball, and a few game systems. Mario Kart was available upon request. Advantages to Hattie's are that it isn't quite as busy as other places in Noda. It was a bit of a hike from the heart of Noda but well worth the walk. I plan on returning in the near future! Staff were really personable and didn't make you feel rushed.

Grayson W.

Yelp
I have been to many dive bars, and this is not it. I encountered the rudest bar tender I have ever encountered (January 29th). I work in the bar industry and have been a part of the restaurant industry for 10+ years. I will let all of my friends know in Charlotte, this place is a MUST SKIP. I never leave reviews but when it comes to this place I just had to. Get it together Hattie's Tap & Tavern, oh and while you're at it fix your bathroom situation with the 1 person rule. Don't yell at your customers when they don't understand the rule, just straight up weird. If you're concerned about bad behavior in the bathroom address that nicely with your customers and make them aware of the problems you have had in the past. Just some advise maybe make sure who enters looks presentable. Its a dive bar and you have to sign in LOL, I work at a members lounge you are not that. I've been sitting on posting this for awhile, I just had to do it because I was asked to leave because of my confusion with the bathroom situation and a joke about "oh well what goes on in there" his response "GET OUT". I was talking to my Dad, the icing on the cake is he kicked my 6 friends out with me. They were minding their own business and playing games at a table. HE handled this situation in the poorest way possible and we all live in walking distance. BYE Hattie's! Get a new bar tender he's horrible, you lost 6 loyal neighbors.

Matt M.

Yelp
This staple between plaza midwood and noda gets it done when you are trying to avoid the crowds of the grocery store in these trying time. It has ample parking and a dumpster to put all your empties. While normally they will play all my DC sports a look through the door reveals the TVs are off for the duration. See pic for my fav Hattie's cocktail.

Lindsay L.

Yelp
I love this bar. Hattie's is the perfect neighborhood dive bar. The patio is big, you can bring in outside food, the TVs are great for games (there's even a huge projector). I hosted an engagement party for friends of mine and had about 50+ guests, and used Hattie's as the venue. It was so easy and so fun. Jackie, the owner, is always so helpful and was great to work with. The bartenders are always fast and efficient and friendly. I've spent the past 3 NYEs there. Hattie's is home! Where everybody knows your name

Colin F.

Yelp
Best bar in Charlotte! We love to take the dogs there and play some Mario Kart on N64.

Noah M.

Yelp
Look at these reviews and tell me you don't want to go to Hattie's!? A bar that has something for everyone. And I mean everyone. I've taken my girlfriends mom here, my best friends, and even just my girlfriend for some drinks. It helped living extremely close but now that I've moved away Hattie's is still one of my prime destinations if drinking and having fun are on the agenda. From old school Mario, arcade games, duck hunt, to Pokémon stadium. They've got a WIDE selection of video games. Seriously. If you don't like the game that's in the slot. Usually Mario kart or super Mario. Then go and ask to change it out. They probably have your favorite in their massive box of games behind the bar. They've got jenga and cornhole on the back patio with plenty of room plus a tv or two for watching the games. They have bingo on Tuesday's and karaoke too. Make sure to check them out on social media and see what's coming up! They have a lot of beer taps plus a full bar. Extremely good drink specials too. I don't know why you would go anywhere else!

Jacey M.

Yelp
If you are in the NoDa/Plaza Midwood area and you haven't been here then you are 100% missing out!!! I used to live in NoDa and it took me almost a year to finally check this place out. The location isn't in the most inviting part of town and unless someone has told you about it, you more than likely won't give it a chance. With that being said.... DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let location or outside appearance be the reason you don't stop here. IT IS AWESOME!!!!! Here are a few quick reason why it is great: everyday $2,$3,and $4 beer specials, bar tenders are nice and friendly, great art and beer signs inside and out, awesome back patio area with corn hole, life size jenga, and other games, and the best bingo spot in town on a Tuesday!! I just honestly don't have anything bad to say about this place! They offer so much. It truly is a "hidden" gem! Bingo on Tuesdays is so fun and the live music is always good. There are free arcade/PlayStation games, and board games available. It doesn't get too extremely crowded so it's a good place to go with a group of friends. Please if you haven't visited Hattie's do it the next time you go out. For real...it's great!

Thais M.

Yelp
BEST SERVICE IN CHARLOTTE. I just loved that bar. They had this 2$ beer, which I loved , and a great selection of other beers, the servers were great and we had such a great time in there, will def coming back.

Emily W.

Yelp
Discovered Hattie's for the first time tonight and already know I'll be a regular! Even though it's rather unassuming from the parking lot, this is the perfect divey bar to hangout with friends and drink NC beer. They have cornhole and ping pong outside on their awesome and huge patio. Inside there is super smash brothers and wii and karaoke. Tuesdays are $3 NC draft nights which is a great deal. Super friendly folks as well.

Aquilla L.

Yelp
Awesome Awesome Awesome!!! I mean really - how can you beat this place. It a dog friendly bar with dog friendly people enjoying cold beers , karaoke , and strangers pets. I went to Hattie's one night as a apart of an epic night with co-workers, Hattie's was or second spot and although I cannot remember the entire night... I remember the experiences I had here. The staff and patrons were equally friendly and eager to start conversations with new faces. I cannot wait to try this out again... randomly with my own pup ... ill let you know how it goes. :)

J H.

Yelp
Awesome friendly neighborhood dive bar filled with classic games cheap beer, craft beer, friendly dogs, and good people.

Kelly C.

Yelp
This place is fantastic. If you don't look closely you could miss it. This is your warning. Don't miss Hattie's! They do live music, bingo and taco Tuesdays, and dogs! Yay for a dog friendly bar! They have an AWESOME draft list. We're talking good, local beer and real thought put into what will work and what won't - what's good and what's not. I came in with my dog, Thor, (mentioned in way too many previous Yelp posts and pictures...) and we loved it. My only concern was that once the front door opens, the friendly dogs have access to the parking lot. Thor is a door bolter - and because he's deaf he has no recall = Kel panic attack. Fret not - Jackie is installing an outside fence to be an extra safety barrier in the next few weeks. I love solutions. Also, most of the dogs are very well behaved, unfortunately I kept Thor leashed at the bar because of the open door bolting, but all of the other dogs were very good. This place is a little divey - but in all the nicest ways. Beautiful murals line the walls, cement floors allow the dog friendliness, and good people. Dive bars can be a hit or miss crowd, and this was a total hit. Everyone was super nice and friendly. They do a ton of awesome events and themed nights. And bingo is serious - do not mistake this. They have bingo dabbers (not the Cam kind) and everything. Love it. I will definitely be back here to drink and hang out & probably play bingo, with Thor in tow.

David A.

Yelp
Great neighborhood bar! They have incredible live music. It's a great place to just go and relax without spending a lot of money. Don't expect much of an atmosphere, but that's what makes the place what it is and what makes it special. Update! 3-27-18 They have made some incredible improvements since my last review. I feel they definitely have upgraded from 4.5 stars to 5 stars. The remodel and the upgrade to the stage were a fantastic touch. Adding Labatts Blue to their lineup took it over the top. Thank you very much!!!

D. T.

Yelp
Just okay. If you're not part of their normal type crowd, no one really wants anything to do with you. Also, watch your tab and prices; better yet, pay as you go and get out. Liked this place better when it was the 3-4 bars previous.

Avery O.

Yelp
Easily my favorite bar in Charlotte! The bartenders and owners are really awesome. I love the neighborhood bar crowd that hangs out here. Great live music. Really excellent draft list. Casual and non-intimidating atmosphere. You can also bring your dog!

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
This is why I love Yelp! My husband and I were looking for somewhere that we haven't been to yet to grab a drink. Yelped bars in Charlotte and Hattie's popped right up. Well, I am so glad we chose this place because this may become one of our regular spots. I will have to say that the outside of Hattie's isn't the most inviting....I actually thought they were closed for a minute there because of the black tint doors. Completely recognize that they are going for a dive feel, though, so that may have something to do with it. When you step in though, it's a huge space inside!! First thing I noticed was all the video games with tvs mounted on the wall. I dont know if I have ever seen that in any bar in the area. So fun! For a new-ish bar, I was fairly shocked with how many local beers they had on tap! Some of them werent even the standard locals that everyone has.....they adventured a little bit. Throughout the night, I had the Triple C BabyMaker and the Unknown Ginger Wheat (both of which I love and order regularly!). My husband had a citrus IPA and some coco stout. Dont think we had heard of the beers before....which is a hard task to accomplish for us! We played a couple games of darts and then checked out the outdoor patio. Really neat space! We watched an artist work on the outside mural for a bit. They have cornhole out there, ping pong, and a bunch of tables and lights. Chill spot to listen to some live music! I saw that they seem to have lots of things going on out there. Live music, open mic, etc. There wasnt anything happening on the Wednesday we went out, but I will absolutely return to check out some live music. There were so many little touches that I loved.....dog pictures, charging station for phones, the random bathtub on the patio! Dog friendly, but not overwhelming dog friendly. Just a cool, chill bar!

Marianne R.

Yelp
Honestly...people on here claim Hattie's is a dive bar, but if they are a dive...they are doing damn well. I've been to some serious dives and they did not have the beer selection, nor friendly bartenders, nor huge patio that Hatties has! It's super dog friendly...we brought our Bloodhound and sat out back. The other people out there didn't mind her being off leash, so all the dogs got to play (and we kept a watchful eye just in case of accidents). The dogs did great! The beers were great! Craft beer isn't cheap, but you should know that by now if you drink good ass beer. If they do a pint night or special night, I'm definitely going then. It's a chill spot, we actually made friends with total strangers outside and ended up sitting at the same table. Isn't that what it's all about? Hattie's is bringing people together!

Lamont C.

Yelp
Wikipedia defines Dive Bar as "An informal bar or pub. Such bars are sometimes referred to as neighborhood bars, where local residents gather to drink and socialize." Instead they should've just written Dive Bar = Hattie's. I make frequent trips south to visit family and I always stop by Hattie's on the way down. No gangs, no bikers, no low-lifes. Just cool people, live music on some nights and while I haven't experienced it first hand, I'm told they have bring your pooch days as well. The bartenders know their stuff and the beer selection is top notch. The last time I was there they were building an outside area that wrapped around the building and local artists were painting the walls. I can't wait to see how the finished product turned out. And I can't recommend this place enough. Did I mention it's always easy to get an Uber to and from? So whether you're a local or you're just visiting the area, if you're looking for a comfortable place to hang out and have a drink, Hattie's is the place.

Garrett G.

Yelp
Arguably the best bar in 28205. Perfectly nestled between plaza-midwood and Noda. Two patios, Video games, Pool, and darts. What more could you ask for? Oh craft beer you say? They've got 30+ taps of hand curated local and national craft. As well as a cooler full of bottles and cans. Drink domestic? Great. There's Hamms, Pabst and natty Bo. The knowledgeable and friendly staff will make you feel like a regular, and the regulars will make you feel like family.

Breanna S.

Yelp
Great place to chill with friends. Board games, video games, drink specials. Loved that they have Founders Brewery on tap, I'm a Founders local in Michigan and it's so funny to see pieces of my hometown when on vacation. My friends had a couple rounds of drinks. Laughed and joked around a game of Yahtzee. If I lived here, I'd be here for drinks once a week. That's for sure.

Megan N.

Yelp
Best dive bar in town! Always something to do every night of the week and the icing on the cake is that I can drink a beer with my dog!

Jessica P.

Yelp
Love this place and so does our dog! The bartenders are great, live music, Trivia, karaoke, and good beer selection.

Emily P.

Yelp
This is a great bar - nice indoor/ outdoor seating with a cool atmosphere. Very friendly owner and bar staff with a good knowledge of a variety of drinks. I love beer, but I hate when I try to order anything more complicated than "open beer bottle" and the bartender looks like I have two heads. Hattie's has plenty of local brews on tap but also a great selection of liquors and mixers. Definitely hit it up if you're in the area!

Josh D.

Yelp
Cool hangout spot, live music and other events. Decent prices and changing specials. Recommend the iced coffee ish drink (forgot the name). Even as a non coffee drinker it was delicious. Downside: no food

Bekah H.

Yelp
Hattie's is one of my favorite bars in NoDa! They have a great selection of craft drafts (local, regional and others), old school video games and they always play the best music. There is usually a food truck which you can enjoy on awesome back patio! Dogs are allowed (inside and out) :) The bartender, Erin, is super friendly and always gives the best suggestions when it comes to beer!

Jason D.

Yelp
Hatties is a great local bar. Close to the hotels in the area. Erin and Hannah were great bartenders taking care of everyone. Its an easy going place with good people and a lot of good beer on tap.

Ed S.

Yelp
Checked this place out with some buddies. Back area was where we spent most of our time. Great beer, great staff, and great night.

Scott W.

Yelp
My second living room! Always a great tap list and lineup of local music. Great patio too!

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Great selection of local drafts and nightly specials! We go on Tuesday's for bingo but there's something going on every night! Excellent outdoor patio with seating, cornhole, jinga, and TVS. It's even covered!
