"Nestled just across from Haymarket station lies a truly hidden gem. Started by husband and wife duo Derek and Sonia, Hau Han is offering up some seriously delicious Hong Kong delights. The space, designed by Sonia, is a modern and Chinese inspired nod to Wes Anderson with a playful and welcoming atmosphere. The food, pulled from Derek’s family recipes, is fresh and delicious. Try the Herng So Gnap, a quarter duck with pancakes and the Geu Yeim Gai, a seriously addictive crispy chicken. If you have any room left after sampling the exceptional menu then do leave room for the Fried Man Tau, Chinese doughnuts rolled in sugar and cinnamon that you will not be able to resist." - Chris Brodt

The food here is excellent, SO tasty and beautifully presented! The mixed platter for starter was absolutely delicious. The waiter was so friendly and helpful, he really seemed to do his best. We as a family had had a long and stressful day of travelling and ended up in this restaurant by chance but we would all love to come back. Beautiful decor too. Thank you.

Sceptical of some reviews I ate here tonight and it was amazing! Daniel and morven (hope it’s spelled right) were great and very friendly, food was lovely and the music was an added nice touch, P.S Daniel takes music requests 🤙🏻🤘🏼

It’s got 4.5 stars on Deliveroo, absolutely garbage… chicken satay tastes like pork… so tough where it’s been re-heated, peanut sauce so watery it doesn’t even cost the chicken. The egg fried rice has a chemical smell to it… defiantly not authentic Chinese egg fried rice. Shredded crispy chicken… might as well be soggy leather in a runny over sugar sauce. More sauce then anything else. Deliveroo needs to screw. Who review these places because it’s absolute atrocious. Even with the discount provided with Deliveroo -£10! Is shocking… In regards to you’re comments below. I informed Deliveroo. Delivery was only 3 mins up the road. What would you of done? Remade the food? Please don’t be a fool and assume everything is about MSG. You do not know me or my dining experiences. This is not good ‘English Chinese’ maybe you should explore UK and try other Chinese restaurants then you’ll understand were most of these comments are coming from. 🙏

Visited Edinburgh with my family and found Hau Han when looking for good spots to eat in the area. I can definitely say that Hau Han's one of the best Chinese restaurants I've gone to and would definitely recommend it. The staff were very kind and attentive, even got to meet the owner Derek and the rest of the staff- Emily and another girl serving us that day (unfortunately I forgot to get her name before she finished her shift) were excellent too! They even gave my mum free Chinese doughnuts as we were celebrating her birthday. Very satisfied with the food and the service we received. 10/10 would visit again next time I come back to Scotland. Wish there was one here in London!

Prawn toast was a bit too oily but the flavour was ok. Satay was on the salty side. On the other hand, nice deco and friendly staff.

On a visit to Edinburgh we chose to eat here: random choice. BEST TASTING Chinese meal in a very long time. Excellent value. Could see that restaurant was very busy with the take away/delivery service, but this did not impact on table service. Staff were delightful. Cafe style minimalist decor perhaps doesn't make for a romantic night out, but the food was .....the best.
