"The "place to be" is a pretty apt way to describe this restaurant from which you can take in a wonderful view of the lake (Wolfgang See), Sankt Gilgen and the surrounding mountains. As you can imagine, the sophisticated terrace is coveted in summer… and then there is the good food added into the mix. Susanne and Lucas Bocsa have been putting their heart and soul into their role as hosts for many years and, over time, have established a chic restaurant where Lucas Bocsa cooks up flavoursome dishes, both classic and international. With the two set menus, "Luckys" and "Luckys All Around the World", you can also dip in and go à la carte. The glass wine cabinet in the entrance area whets your appetite for a good glass of wine off the bat. The friendly and professional service team is headed up by the likeable Susanne." - Michelin Inspector

Oh wow, where do I even start with Haus am Hang in St. Gilgen, Austria? Picture this: you’re sitting at a cozy table with a jaw-dropping view of the Austrian Alps. The place already has a 4.7 rating from nearly 600 people, so you know you're in for a treat. The ambiance? Think charming, welcoming, and just oozing with that Austrian gemütlichkeit. The staff make you feel like you’re a special guest in their home. You feel immediately at ease, ready to dive into a culinary adventure. Now, let's talk food. The menu is a love letter to Austrian cuisine. You can practically taste the alpine air in every bite. From hearty schnitzels to delicate strudels, everything is crafted with care and precision. Each dish tells a story, steeped in local tradition and flavor. But it’s not just the food that makes this place a must-visit; it’s the entire experience. Imagine savoring your meal while the sun sets over the mountains, casting a golden glow over the landscape. It’s pure magic. Haus am Hang is more than just a restaurant—it's a place where memories are made. Whether you’re a foodie, a traveler, or someone looking to unwind with a great meal and an even better view, this spot should be at the top and of your list. Trust me, you won’t want to leave!

We stumbled upon this gem while looking for a good lunch. The service was personalised and the chef gave us plenty of options on what we wanted to eat. Truly an excellent place to eat when touring the lakes of Austria

We came here for the factory visit and had wonderful dinner in this beautiful restaurant. Food is beautifully prepared and outstanding wine list. The taste of the appetizer is a bit salty but it could be my own taste tendered to be mild. However generally the service is great.

I do not recommend this restaurant. The service is terrible, and the manager is extremely rude and unwelcoming. She openly argues with guests and behaves in a highly inappropriate, as witnessed during our last visit. The staff also seem visibly unhappy, which reflects in their unfriendly and unprofessional attitude. For the price you pay — over 500 euros for a food and wine tasting menu — it is absolutely not worth it. St. Gilgen offers many far better dining experiences. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I’m completely shocked – I found a hair in my food, and when I reported it to the staff, the restaurant manager accused me of putting it there myself. I saw that they have a dog that freely enters the kitchen and walks around – that’s absolutely unacceptable. The service is terrible, the food is tasteless, and on top of all that, the restaurant is overpriced. The manager also treats the staff poorly. I will never come back to this restaurant again.

The food arrived cold and tasteless, as if it was not freshly prepared. I expected a higher level or orderliness and friendliness of the staff

Yelp
This is the fanciest place in the area, and the food and service are top notch, approaching Michelin quality. The menu is only in German, but the staff and chef speak English. They accommodate food presences and allergies. The chef is in and out of the dining room all evening. It's a good idea to make a reservation, so they know how many people to expect. That is also a good time to mention food preferences, which they can accommodate seamlessly.
