Where to Find South Florida’s Best Cuban-Style Sandwiches

"They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so a pan con tortilla is the way to go. Havana 1957 adds lechon (roasted pork), ham, cheese, and potato sticks to keep patrons full until lunchtime." - Stacy A. Moya

Absolutely loved the restaurant atmosphere with the darkness and lit displays of Cuban culture and celebrities. The food was amazing. We had three different dishes and all were delicious! Our server, Sol, was great and made sure we were well taken care of! If you’re on South Beach and want authentic Cuban food, this is a great place. And we didn’t get to see the live music, but in can only imagine how awesome that would be!

Google
Patricia was the best server we had on south beach the entire week! Her service was top notch, her fun personable personality made our experience so enjoyable and we definitely will be back! Atmosphere with the band inside and the music/dancing on patio was fabulous The food was incredible!! The sweet plantains were delicious - did the surf and turf and I would highly recommend it. Shrimp were flavorful - lobster texture great and the steak was done as requested and very tasty!

Google
Great experience, outside and inside seating is available (we chose outside) and it was nice being to enjoy the scenery while eating. We chose this location because it was a little bit away from the more hectic area on the strip. Our food was delicious, we had the stuffed plantains, fish and the sampler, nice variety. Our server, Liz was patient, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back again!

We had an amazing diner here. Our waitress Lulu is the best. I am vegetarian and Lulu took her time to give me some nice recommendations and made a nice charcuterie board with some vegetarian options and meat options. The atmosphere is also nice.

First off, the food was great. Having not tried Cuban food before, I was confused on what to get. I was thinking of either pork or chicken but wasn’t too sure. My waiter, Patricia was amazing! She gave some recommendations and I went for the chicken that she said. Honestly, it was amazing! Patricia was also very lovely overall - a great person! I highly recommend this place.

Google
This Cuban restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm, lively atmosphere set the tone for an unforgettable meal. The aroma alone had our mouths watering and the food did not disappoint. Alex was our server.. personable, great service!! Definitely coming back

Google
We had an absolutely extraordinary experience at Havana 1957 in Miami. The warm atmosphere and authentic decor instantly transported us to Cuba. Every dish was a true delight—flavorful, generous, and beautifully prepared, offering a genuine taste of Cuban cuisine. What truly elevated our evening, however, was the outstanding service provided by our server, Patricia. Her kindness, attentiveness, and thoughtful recommendations made our meal even more memorable. A heartfelt thank you to her for making us feel so welcome and well cared for! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic Cuban dining experience in the heart of Miami.

Google
Patricia was amazing!! She had so much personality and knowledge of the menu. Love this place. The food was great, the vibe was great. I definitely recommend the Cuban sandwich and the “medium” margaritas. Spoiler alert, it’s huge.

Yelp
My partner and I were in town for a short stay and wanted to try some authentic Cuban food. After looking at several restaurants and reviews, we decided on Havana 1957. We made reservations for 8:30 and when we arrived there were several diners seated on the patio. The hostess greeted us immediately and was very pleasant. She's asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. Although it was a nice evening, it was a bit humid so we decided to sit inside. The decor of the restaurant is warm and retro. Leather, red lighting and glass stain light fixtures with intricate details were throughout the space; in addition to Cuban history via pictures and memorabilia. We opted for a high top booth near the back. Our waitress arrived shortly thereafter with a smile; welcoming us and asking if we'd prefer still or sparkling water. We opted for sparking and also ordered the New Fashion. I love good Old Fashioned, so the New Fashion, which is a spin with Rum instead of Whiskey, was very tasty. There were so many delicious choices on the menu so we asked the waitress what her favorites were. We were happy when she said the flank steak and Cuban Sampler because we had basically already narrowed it down to those two. The food was perfection! All the meat was tender and flavorful. The black beans were seasoned perfectly as well. And the portions were plentiful. I give this place 5 stars and will definitely be back when in Miami again!

Yelp
I have to changed my prior thoughts on this place I came back the next night and the drinks were just as great but this time the rice wasn't hard! I'm in love with the pork chunks and Yuka chips! Patricia was there again and remembered us, telling us to choose another dish! The bf is happy with the choice! The live music is amazing! Love this place

Yelp
We stumbled on this lovely restaurant after a long beach day!! We thought we were just gonna grab a frozen drink but we ended up having a late lunch. We were greeted by a nice gentleman who escorted us to the bar seating. The decor was very 80's Miami. Pictures of some of musics jazz and blues greats covered the walls with gold frames. Very classic Miami vibes! There was also an original small stage area that looked like something out of a movie with the individual bulbs going around it! We ordered virgin pina coloda and strawberry and mango daiquiri. They were DELICIOUS!! i normally wouldn't partake in such a sweet drink but it was well worth it!! The presentation was beautiful as well. I ordered a classic salad and added salmon and a side of plantains which interestingly enough, it came with the onions like the other Cuban restaurant we visited and I didnt mind it at all. Everything was great. Food, ambiance, service, prices, location, decor. No complaints at all!!!

Yelp
A popular restaurant "chain" in Miami. We timed the seating so that we could watch the live entertainment.. It was a fun party atmosphere. Definitely a place to try while in South Beach!

Yelp
The service was great from start to finish. We sat outside on the patio and it was perfectly positioned to people watch. They have fans to help cool you down as well. One person restroom inside and very dark, calm decor on the inside. Food was great. Loved the yuca fries and empanadas.

Yelp
This is my second time trying out Havana 1957 but my first time at this location. My other visit was just down the street from here. I would say the service was better this time for sure, but it also seemed like a quieter night as well. We honestly weren't that hungry so we skipped an appetizer and just got a pitcher of their mojito with passion fruit and our two entrees. You do get some delicious plantain chips to munch on while you wait for you food to come. The mojito was good but after drinking an entire pitcher I did not get a buzz. But it taste good. My wife ordered their Palomilla a plancha and I ordered their Masas de cerdo. Which I thought it would get something similar to when I ordered "masa de Puerco" at another restaurant. Unfortunately, not even close but still a decent meal. We ordered both our entrees with Moro rice and maduros. My sides steak was seasoned perfectly and topped with sautéed onions that tasted amazing. My dish came with the same sautéed onions and fried pork which is very similar to carnitas but not nearly as good. The dish was good but I definitely wouldn't order it again, but I can see myself returning for a third time.

Yelp
Was walking down Ocean Dr and wanted to see what we as a group of 4 could eat. The patio dining at this restaurant was very pretty and had inside / outside seating. We decided after looking at a few menus that we would try Havana 1957. From the beginning, the service was great. They were very attentive and always around. Some cocktails were ordered and we enjoyed the scene. When we ordered our food, I asked if they had Cuban bread and they did! We got a plate of that to start - and it was okay. Crispy bread. Other Cuban spots are a bit more flavorful with butter or garlic. We got our food and to my surprise, the ceviche was pretty abundant and filling. We thoroughly enjoyed the skirt steak. Was contemplating on it because of the price but glad we got it. Amazing flavor. Would come back for that. At the end of the night, we finished up and the staff was kind enough to help us take photos. We had a great experience here.

Yelp
I love how attentive everyone is. The waiters, the lovely maître d', the bartender. Everyone's there to make sure you have a good time. This place gets really busy at peak times, so it's popular. Otherwise it's a quiet place to have a meal and relax. The food is good and I'm told by others that it's authentic. If it's your first Cubano restaurant then this is a good and convenient choice for South Beach visitors. If you know already know the cuisine very well, you probably should find a place with a larger menu selection, and I don't know where you can find such an alternative in South Beach.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service! I am not usually a chicken fan, but wow! The Havana1957 chicken is a great choice!!!! Super moist, juicy and all the good things! We sat outside to enjoy the vibe, but the restaurant is just as amazing!!!

Yelp
This place!! I never knew that I lived Cuban food until we came here. The food was amazing, and the hotel decor was breathtaking. As if that wasn't enough.... Our service was absolutely some of the best ever. The gentleman who greeted us appeared to be a manager, and he was fabulous from the get. Our server, "Jordy" was perfect. So attentive - without being annoying, personable, knowledgeable and friendly. If I make it back to Miami - stopping here again will be REQUIRED!!

Yelp
Stopped by for the ambiance, stayed for the people-watching--but the food fell short. While strolling down Ocean Drive, enjoying the vibrant art deco scenery, we decided to try Havana 1957. The restaurant's sidewalk seating offered a great spot to soak in the atmosphere, with views of the beach in the distance and plenty of people-watching along the pedestrian-friendly street. We tried the salmon and the empanadas, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the lively surroundings:    *   Salmon: Cooked a bit too dry and lacking flavor. However, the accompanying rice was delicious, with a hint of coconut that added a nice touch. The plantains were also well-prepared and enjoyable.    *   Empanadas: Average at best. The filling was underwhelming, with a bland taste that left me wishing for more seasoning or depth. Overall, this is a great spot to enjoy the ambiance and people-watching, but the food was disappointing, especially given the prime location. If you're looking for Cuban flavors, you might want to explore other nearby options.

Yelp
Haven't been in a long time! But chicken was dry although it looked great. Drinks were good but you must pay the tourist price. Service was B- the guy bringing the food out was outstanding. But everyone else acts like they will auto grat you 20%. Because they will for all parties.

Yelp
We were in town staying at the Marriott next door. Our 1st night in town we decided to try this restaurant and the food did not disappoint. It was a weeknight and we were a party of 2 so we were immediately seated. We chose inside seating - I love the decor , the lighting, and the ambiance. My husband got the Cuban while I opted for a sampler plate. They delivered complimentary plantain chips to the table while we waited on food. The cuban came with a 2nd version of plantain chips (the longer strips vs the circles). The sampler had their famous Chicken, Ropa Vieja, and Lechon (pork) plus white rice, black beans, and maduros. The Lechon was good but my favorite of everything was the Ropa Vieja. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is the service. I felt our waiter was not attentive. I am understanding and would not deduct a star for the staff being busy. However, that was not the case. At one point, I was looking for our waiter because it had been a bit and we were in need of something. As I looked around I found him hanging out behind the bar on his phone. Later when we were ready for checks, this was again the case. All that said, I would eat here again because the food is delicious. Hopefully the staff will improve their attentiveness.

Yelp
Be ready for some delicious Cuban food! This restaurant has days where it's loud and days where it's quiet! We were so excited to come here after seeing many Instagram reels about the hype. When we got there, we saw the manager and he immediately wanted us to get the best seat in the house, Buy one get one free drinks, and discount on our food! He showed us that we should never pay full price because we're pretty girls . The decorations here are so gorgeous with the flowers and the lights! I ordered the traditional Cuban platter and it was super good however, it didn't beat the Cuban food that I've had places before there like Tropical Mango Cafe. They have giant drinks for drink, drinkers, and cocktails. We had a great time. Definitely recommend coming to this street called Little Havana if you are visiting Miami for the best Cuban dish you can find! Thank you for the great service and delicious food! Wonderful experience!

Yelp
Convenient if you are staying at a hotel on the block. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The food presentation is nice.

Yelp
We dropped by here after a stop at Miami Beach. Jumped in the ocean,, got some sun and walked over to Havana 1957 for a late lunch. I am of Cuban background so I know what good Cuban food is. Havana 1957 did not disappoint. The interior was cool w regards to both temperature and vibes. Loved the nightclub decor. Our waiter was great and checked on us often but not too often. And the food? Excellent! We split the Cuban sandwich and yucca fries. The Cuban was a big sandwich and a delicious authentic Cuban. The sandwich came w fries and we didn't want to double up fries so we subbed the side salad. I honestly expected like a couple pieces of lettuce with a couple cherry tomatoes but instead got a really good sized salad with a lot of ingredients including avocado pickled onions and radishes. It went perfectly with the yucca fries and the Cuban. The yucca fries stole the show. They were like fluffy clouds on the inside and crispy on the outside and came with a yummy sauce to dip in. We would go back to 1957 just for those yucca fries. The prices are a bit higher than on the mainland but you are steps from Miami Beach so you have to expect that. Even so, splitting the Cuban, salad and yucca fries filled us up and the cost before tax/tip was about $33. Definitely worth it.

Yelp
This place was absolutely fantastic!! The ambiance was great and I the inside had ac where we felt comfortable. My friends and I only wanted a small snack and to have some Cuban food. This place is limited on veggie options, although that is to be expected of Cuban food. The service was quick and easy. Our waitress had some great suggestions for us. I shared the chopped salad with my friend, which included a cilantro dressing and plantains and my other friend had the steak empanadas. I highly suggest this place is you're around the beautiful espanola way!

Yelp
From the moment we walked in we were given a warm welcome. Cynthia was our server. & George the manager was very attentive not only to us but to every customer that walked in. My mom and I are traveling from San Francisco...we went on a 3 days cruise and now staying 3 nights in Miami. I am glad we chose Havana 1957 on Collins ave as our 1st restaurant. They did not disappoint. The food, the atmosphere and the quality of service is above and beyond. It was a rare cold day in Miami. We chose to sit outside ....the warm outside heat lamp kept us nice and warm. I have no complaints with my visit at Havana. It's my mom's first visit in Florida and i wanted to make it special for her. She enjoyed her visit! Thank you George and Cynthia and the rest of the team for an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! SN: the presentation for the sampler platter can use some improvement but nonetheless the food was GREAT ;-)

Yelp
Incredible service, delicious food. Loved the Lychee martini. Atmosphere was so fun! Great evening all the way around.

Yelp
Ate here last night and the food didn't disappoint. I ordered the pork chunks and husband ordered the Cuban sandwich. The mocktails were also good. There was a live band and they played good music. Our server Lulu kept checking on us and service was 10/10. Not sure if they have parking, but I did see a valet stand by the curbside.

Yelp
La comida estuvo deliciosa y el servicio fue fantastico, Patricia la waiter fue professional atenta y Muy amable.

Yelp
Food was ok. The Cuban sandwich was pretty dry. Service was okay, but nothing special.

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch on a girls trip. We both got a cuban sandwhich and it was so delicious!! What made our experience 5 star was the amazing staff. Our waiter Yorhander was incredibly friendly and made sure we had a great lunch! . Jorge was the owner and he stopped and chatted for a while. They both seemed to love what they do and gave us great recommendations for our stay! Would highly recommend coming here your next time in Miami!!

Yelp
My most favorite place to eat in South Beach! Great Cuban food and atmosphere! Always a good meal and time every time!

Yelp
We stopped by as a family of 10 and the server was very patient and attentive. I loved the decor and the relaxed space even though it was on the strip it felt very chill. The drinks and food were delicious. I loved the recommendation our server gave like the Cuban Combo, and the Arroz Moro.
google avatar

Alaleh P.

Yelp
We came here to try authentic Cuban food and we were not disappointed. The food, service and the atmosphere were amazing. Our host was very hospitable and had good sense of humor. We ordered Cuban beer and Spicy Margarita for drinks. And ordered "Cuban Burger" and "Cuban Sandwich" for our dinner. Drinks were really good and our food was very delicious and a bit heavy. I recommend sharing a plate lol. The food is generally saltier than other cuisines.
google avatar

Gigi S.

Yelp
Keeping gf I ordered garlic shrimp and he had the shredded beef with plantain chips and rice which he loved. No mention of this dishes actual Cuban name- ropa vieja, but they did boast an awesome recrafted beer from Havana called LaTropical. Important to note- we had a long cruise the next day so we carefully checked freshness to avoid a possible vacation ending debacle. Good news- we felt great! There's a stage show inside just be sure to catch it on its best night- Saturday!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I had a late night dinner here while in Southbeach on a recent work conference. We chose this because it was right next door to our hotel but were pleasantly surprised with our decision. I opted for the Cuban Sandwich and it was delicious!! I did add a little extra mustard... Service was a little slow considering it was late and not many patrons were there. But we chalked it up to the fact that the server was likely doing side work. All in all it was a great meal and we will try it again if we're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Oceanfront outside eating -- who can beat that? The sand dunes block most of the view, but you are right across from the beach at least. I was excited to eat Cuban but had underwhelmed by the Cuban sandwich! After I finished eating, I went to the restroom to wash my hands and there was a picture from the Miami Herald about the restaurant's Cuban sandwich being the best in the city -- with avocado! My sandwich didn't have avocado, and that would have made a difference! Unfortunately, I recently had a better Cuban sandwich at a Florida airport! The Cuban burger we ordered was excellent, as were the croquettes. Pork belly sandwich was a little dry. After all of this, I would come back just for the view -- this enough to warrant a return visit!

Yelp
Loved this restaurant. When we arrived for lunch, we were seated right away. They brought out complimentary plantain chips with a yummy sauce that tasted like cilantro lime sauce. We split the cubano sandwich and had some margaritas. The margarita was probably one of the BEST that I have ever had. The cubano sandwich was good. The bread was a little too toasted for my liking, but it was still good. Our waiter was very friendly and we really enjoyed our experience. They have live music at night that I wished we could have went back for.
google avatar

Yelp
Yup... I'm giving 5 stars for the best rice, black beans, and picadillo that I've had. It was comfort food at its best! Took me right back to the food that my Cuban friend made for me years ago. If I could eat here weekly, I would! Came here for a quick bite to eat and I'm so glad that we did... we decided to sit outside, and I'm glad that we did as the inside was a little dark... I prefer a light and airy feel. Passion fruit mojito was good... maybe could have used a little more rum? The yuca fritas were delicious and came with a great green dipping sauce. Service was quick and friendly. I highly recommend!

Yelp
One of the better Cuban restaurants in this area. The Cuban sampler is soo good and I suggest getting it as an appetizer for the table if you don't get it as an entree! The roasted chicken was so delicious. My brother also really liked the flank steak. The service was okay friendly but not attentive couldn't get a second drink our whole dinner because he was chatting with another table. They did make good food suggestions though! We sat outside and the heaters were perfect with the breeze! The dining tables were cute.

Yelp
I wrote this review a while back, and didn't realize it ended up in my drafts! So here we are!! I feel like I can always rely on Havana 1957 to be satisfying. This was my first time dining at this particular location, I have been to the Lincoln Road and also to the other Ocean Drive location up the street. Our waitress was delightful, very accommodating, and answered all of our questions anytime we had them. She also made sure that my friend had a special birthday flan at the end. My only gripe is that they don't have vegetarian beans. There was pork in the black beans so I had to do without them. It definitely would be nice if they offered that non-meat option for. Other than that my food was great and we had a cool pitcher of mango Mojito to go with it!
google avatar

Yelp
Came for the Cubanos and weren't disappointed! They were huge and tasty. The plantain chips as an app was fantastic too. Yorhander our server was awesome , Jorge the manager was so nice and checked on us often. We sat outside and they had fans which was a nice touch.

Yelp
12/10/23- Twelve of my hungry friends and I cycled to South Beach for brunch. Our biggest challenge was finding a location to safely park all of our bikes. We settled on Havana. Its perfectly located on the strip & the music flowing made this restaurant inviting. Unfortunately, the one server assigned to our entire group was new & inexperienced serving a large party. This added extra time that I didn't have to spare to place orders. Language was a major barrier. I should've refreshed my Spanish way before the trip. I wanted the omelette with everything except ham or bacon. Instead of pork, I requested smoked salmon & spinach. I finally received an overcooked omelette with no cheese & no spinach. However, the slice of French toast that I attempted to cancel & the mojito were good. Five of my friends received their food within reasonable time & the remaining 8 got food 25 minutes later. Service was entirely disjointed & it took forever to reconcile the bill.

Yelp
After walking around Miami Beach for a while, I stumbled upon here to get something to eat while I waited for my room. The staff were very helpful and attentive. I got the PAN CON LECHÓN PORK SANDWICH and the Strawberry Cucumber Lemonade! Both were soooooo good! The lemonade was very refreshing after walking around in the boiling hot weather! It's a chain restaurant but it was still good

Yelp
First time visitor from California. Ate dinner here with my hubby. We sat inside cuz the humidity was too much for me - I never acclimated the way he did. We ordered the empanadas (ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS), the Cuban sandwich (tasty), and the Griddled fish (superb). We loved every bite. There was also a magician (Magic Taylor??) - he did an awesome little magic show. We truly enjoyed the dinner and the magic show. My favorites are the empanadas and the plantains!! I forgot to take pics of my dinner (cause I was too busy stuffing my face), but hubby got a shot of his sandwich.

Yelp
First need to begin this review with how much fun our waiter was. He was joking and smiling the whole evening. Incredible how just having that makes the evening so much more memorable. He gave us great recommendations for both cocktails and food. Loved the tropical ceviche and skirt steak. Shout out to the black beans as well! Even though they're a side, THEY'RE DELICIOUS. We loved the Al fresco dining experience. It really set the tone and vibe for the start of our Miami trip!

Yelp
I wouldn't know what "true" Cuban food tastes like, but I did enjoy my meal at this spot. Went for lunch and sat outside able to admire the sights on south beach. Service was good and the waitress was witty-- I like that. Food was good as was the rum and coke!

Yelp
We had a large group of us and we're able to be seated promptly (with a reservation) and even sat near another large group of folks we knew. The mojitos are amazing. Like, probably one of the best you'll ever have. Pro-tip: There's two locations in the South Beach area. Make sure you're going to the correct one if you're meeting up with others. This time, I tried the platter with multiple Cuban specialties. Probably not my wisest choice. It was all cooked and prepared just fine. It just wasn't to my liking. The best was the ropa vieja. Which is what I had on a previous visit and loved. For what it's worth, others at the table loved their chicken and other dishes. For me, the ropa vieja is just THE best. The service was a little slow. And I think the server was annoyed. But to be fair, there were multiple tables of 8+ people (even beyond our two groups) and all were wanting to pay with separate checks. So no doubt it was an annoying night. I love the ambiance. It's on the darker side and has a definite Cuban feel to it. It's never going to be the same as one of the mom and pop places in Little Havana. But this is a dependable good Cuban meal in Miami.

Yelp
Amazing class mojito pitcher. Loved the Cuban feel and atmosphere. Food was also amazing the cevich was top notch

A little cliche and touristy but amazing food, great ambiance and customer service! I took my kids while in Miami heading to Europe and it set the tone for our trip! All good vibes.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. Service was even better. All the restaurants on south beach charge a 20% serve fee ... which is not the tip. That part was awful.

Yelp
Excellent food in South Beach. Cuban sandwich was outrageously good! The other Cuban dishes were also good! Nice staff and professional service. With all the tourist traps- this is NOT! This restaurant is worth the visit.

Yelp
Havana 1957 seems like a staple in Miami and I can see why, the food just has so much flavor and is delicious. We came here right on time for their happy hour menu. They have drinks, food, and different items that were discounted at a nice price. Ordered five different alcoholic drinks since it was just only $8.00. Our yucca fries were delicious if you haven't yet tried this before, you must! Our server was funny and also wanted us to just keep drinking but after so many I felt way too full just from the drinks. We over-ordered way too much food but I'm glad we did since we ate it all. Also, their potato balls were fire! I loved almost everything we had ordered. With our entire meal, it was quite responsible and our damage was just under $120.00 for the three of us.

Yelp
You can't come to Miami without getting some Cuban food. Man was I happy I stopped here. I got the variety plate so I got a little bit of everything. They also had some secret green sauce, I'd recommend to ask for a few of them as you can use them as a dipping sauce for literally everything. The waiters were attentive and asked multiple times if we needed anything else . They also have a live band on their busy days. If you're on Ocean Drive, definitely a spot to stop at!

Yelp
We dropped in here at the suggestion of a friend and, boy, are we glad we did! I ordered La Orquesta Cubana, a "Tour of Cuba" of sorts. Consisting of Havana 1957 chicken, ropa vieja, lechon, rice, black beans, and plantains, La Orquesta Cubana was quite delicious and filling! The service was friendly and prompt, and the ambiance for this evening was very festive with what appeared to be a private party with live musical and dance performances! Overall, Havana 1957 is a fine restaurant with a lot of excellent choices on the menu, which makes me anticipate a return trip back to Miami in the near future!
