Where to Find South Florida’s Best Cuban-Style Sandwiches

"They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so a pan con tortilla is the way to go. Havana 1957 adds lechon (roasted pork), ham, cheese, and potato sticks to keep patrons full until lunchtime." - Stacy A. Moya

Great spot in Miami! The staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome right away. Loved the live Latin music — it gave the place such a lively and authentic vibe. The drinks were well crafted and delicious, and while the decoration felt a bit ad hoc, it actually added to the charm of the place. Conveniently located right next to the Marriott Vacation Club, so it’s perfect for a casual night out. Highly recommend!

Google
Food was amazing. Great combination flavouring. Service by Liz was top notch. Most importantly, atmosphere was superb. Not too many movement and calm with great music.

Google
Absolutely loved the restaurant atmosphere with the darkness and lit displays of Cuban culture and celebrities. The food was amazing. We had three different dishes and all were delicious! Our server, Sol, was great and made sure we were well taken care of! If you’re on South Beach and want authentic Cuban food, this is a great place. And we didn’t get to see the live music, but in can only imagine how awesome that would be!

This is my first time having real Cuban food. My gosh, I’ve never tasted food like this. I grew up in a Latino household and got to experience some truly excellent Mexican food, but this was my first time having authentic Cuban food and I’m blown away by the flavors. This restaurant is where it’s at if you want to try some flavors of Cuba with excellent service (thank you to our server Liz!) and a fun vibe.

Google
Lulú was a par with service and attentiveness. The appetizer, empanadas were delicious as were our main course meals. Cocktails were fabulous!

Google
Liz was friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing! The Cuban Sampler is the perfect way to try all of the favorites. Great drinks (try the Cuban Mule) too and wonderful mood/music on the outside patio.

Google
The food was delicious and full of flavor, and the place has such a cool vibe — lively music, great atmosphere, and nice decor. The staff were friendly and service was quick even though it was busy. It’s a great spot to enjoy good food and people-watch right on Ocean Drive. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Miami Beach!

Google
Great experience, outside and inside seating is available (we chose outside) and it was nice being to enjoy the scenery while eating. We chose this location because it was a little bit away from the more hectic area on the strip. Our food was delicious, we had the stuffed plantains, fish and the sampler, nice variety. Our server, Liz was patient, attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Julio was our server and was fantastic! Helped with food and wine recommendation, friendly and attentive (but not overbearing). Food and atmosphere was amazing- had the ceviche for an app and it was delicious!

Yelp
Havana 1957 is amazing! Authentic Cuban food, excellent service, and a lively atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in Havana. Totally recommend it.

Yelp
Flavor, Vibes, and the Best Cuban Sandwich Ever -- A South Beach Must If you're in Miami Beach and want the Cuban flavor experience, look no further than Havana 1957 on Ocean Drive. We came here for lunch, and from the first Mojito to the final bite of that legendary Cuban sandwich, it was nothing short of unforgettable. We first visited South Beach a while back and had what we swore was the best Cuban sandwich ever. So naturally, when we returned to Miami this year, Havana 1957 was at the top of our list--and it did not disappoint. We sat outside on the patio, right in the heart of Ocean Drive, soaking up the sunshine, ocean breeze, and nonstop people-watching. You feel the Cuban-Miami energy all around you--it's fun, vibrant, and exactly what you want on vacation. Service was great--once you're seated and that first Mojito hits the table, you know you're in good hands. Pro tip: There are definitely a lot of Mojitos to choose from, but stick with the classic--the perfect amount of mint and super refreshing in the Miami heat. We started with the ceviche, and it was the perfect opener--fresh, bright, citrusy, with just the right balance of salt and lime. And then came the star: the Cuban sandwich. Let's say it again: BEST. EVER. Crispy outside, melty inside, packed with flavor. We've tried a lot, but this one still reigns supreme. Between the flavor-packed food, beachside setting, and nonstop good vibes, Havana 1957 is a guaranteed stop anytime we're in town. And yes--we're already planning our next visit.

Yelp
Stopped in at Havana 1957 on Ocean Drive for dinner and had a great experience overall. The vibe was laid-back with a darker, cool ambiance that made it easy to relax. Drinks were strong and steady, just the way I like them. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp stuffed plantains, both suggested by my server Jazmine. She was excellent, attentive without hovering and really knew the menu. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and well-balanced, and the plantains were the standout. Perfect mix of sweet and savory. Only reason I'm holding back a fifth star is the pace was a little slow at times, but honestly, it fit the mood. Definitely worth checking out if you're in South Beach and looking for something with flavor and character.

Yelp
The food was great. That's the end of it. Our bill came. The most expensive mojito on the menu shows $26. They asked us if we wanted large. We said "sure!" It's $45 for a large mojito. We found this out when the bill came. We had a party of 10 for a birthday. They automatically charge 20% gratuity. That's fine, but the server took that as an opportunity to disappear for 45 minutes. No one checked on our food quality. Fortunately it was good. They then asked about a birthday at our table. They brought a birthday dessert without it being requested and charged us $25 for it. They refused to take it off the bill. They also charged $5 per person for live entertainment. This is not listed anywhere and we were blindsided by it. An extra $50 for our table. Of note, they also charge gratuity at 20% for the entertainment. I paid $100 for a Cuban sandwich and a mojito. That is simply absurd. Here's the thing. Their food is decent. If they didn't try to rip people off, they might return. We will not be returning.

Yelp
We came to Havana 1957 for a birthday celebration, and while the food itself was good, the service was truly disappointing and confusing. Having worked in the service industry for over 10 years, I've never witnessed anything like this: Our server asked the birthday person what dessert they wanted, and not only did they charge the birthday person for their own dessert, but they also charged the couple who had ordered it for them as a treat. It was an awkward and frustrating situation. To make matters worse, there was an additional "entertainment charge" added to the bill with no prior mention. Something like that should be clearly disclosed at the door, not snuck in at the end as a surprise. Unfortunately, between the poor handling of the birthday dessert and the hidden charge, this is not a place we'll be returning to.

Yelp
Customer service in the beginning was amazing. We got valet parking, I checked in for my reservation and everything was going amazing. Until we were being rushed to go inside to our table, once inside we still had to be in peoples way, standing, because our table wasn't even ready!!! Why rush us from the start?? It literally took our server/waitress about 20 minutes to come get our drink order. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. And it was a Friday night. We finally got our drinks and food order going but it was impossible to get ahold of our waitress, she hardly ever came around. Our bill ended up being $600 for about 6 of us, the tip of almost $100 was included in our bill. The food was overpriced. Idk if it's bc of where they are located. But next time I would rather go to Little Havana for some good Cuban food. Ambiance was okay, they had live entertainers and music but the experience could have been better. Maybe if service was better we'd be back.

Yelp
I have to changed my prior thoughts on this place I came back the next night and the drinks were just as great but this time the rice wasn't hard! I'm in love with the pork chunks and Yuka chips! Patricia was there again and remembered us, telling us to choose another dish! The bf is happy with the choice! The live music is amazing! Love this place

Yelp
My partner and I were in town for a short stay and wanted to try some authentic Cuban food. After looking at several restaurants and reviews, we decided on Havana 1957. We made reservations for 8:30 and when we arrived there were several diners seated on the patio. The hostess greeted us immediately and was very pleasant. She's asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. Although it was a nice evening, it was a bit humid so we decided to sit inside. The decor of the restaurant is warm and retro. Leather, red lighting and glass stain light fixtures with intricate details were throughout the space; in addition to Cuban history via pictures and memorabilia. We opted for a high top booth near the back. Our waitress arrived shortly thereafter with a smile; welcoming us and asking if we'd prefer still or sparkling water. We opted for sparking and also ordered the New Fashion. I love good Old Fashioned, so the New Fashion, which is a spin with Rum instead of Whiskey, was very tasty. There were so many delicious choices on the menu so we asked the waitress what her favorites were. We were happy when she said the flank steak and Cuban Sampler because we had basically already narrowed it down to those two. The food was perfection! All the meat was tender and flavorful. The black beans were seasoned perfectly as well. And the portions were plentiful. I give this place 5 stars and will definitely be back when in Miami again!

Yelp
Food was incredible and service was fantastic from Liz. Perfect stop if you are looking for a tiny piece of Cuba. Crispy Chicken was delicious and the Cuban coffee was the perfect after dinner pick me up.

Yelp
This is my second time trying out Havana 1957 but my first time at this location. My other visit was just down the street from here. I would say the service was better this time for sure, but it also seemed like a quieter night as well. We honestly weren't that hungry so we skipped an appetizer and just got a pitcher of their mojito with passion fruit and our two entrees. You do get some delicious plantain chips to munch on while you wait for you food to come. The mojito was good but after drinking an entire pitcher I did not get a buzz. But it taste good. My wife ordered their Palomilla a plancha and I ordered their Masas de cerdo. Which I thought it would get something similar to when I ordered "masa de Puerco" at another restaurant. Unfortunately, not even close but still a decent meal. We ordered both our entrees with Moro rice and maduros. My sides steak was seasoned perfectly and topped with sautéed onions that tasted amazing. My dish came with the same sautéed onions and fried pork which is very similar to carnitas but not nearly as good. The dish was good but I definitely wouldn't order it again, but I can see myself returning for a third time.

Yelp
Was walking down Ocean Dr and wanted to see what we as a group of 4 could eat. The patio dining at this restaurant was very pretty and had inside / outside seating. We decided after looking at a few menus that we would try Havana 1957. From the beginning, the service was great. They were very attentive and always around. Some cocktails were ordered and we enjoyed the scene. When we ordered our food, I asked if they had Cuban bread and they did! We got a plate of that to start - and it was okay. Crispy bread. Other Cuban spots are a bit more flavorful with butter or garlic. We got our food and to my surprise, the ceviche was pretty abundant and filling. We thoroughly enjoyed the skirt steak. Was contemplating on it because of the price but glad we got it. Amazing flavor. Would come back for that. At the end of the night, we finished up and the staff was kind enough to help us take photos. We had a great experience here.

Yelp
A popular restaurant "chain" in Miami. We timed the seating so that we could watch the live entertainment.. It was a fun party atmosphere. Definitely a place to try while in South Beach!

Yelp
This place!! I never knew that I lived Cuban food until we came here. The food was amazing, and the hotel decor was breathtaking. As if that wasn't enough.... Our service was absolutely some of the best ever. The gentleman who greeted us appeared to be a manager, and he was fabulous from the get. Our server, "Jordy" was perfect. So attentive - without being annoying, personable, knowledgeable and friendly. If I make it back to Miami - stopping here again will be REQUIRED!!

Yelp
Stopped by for the ambiance, stayed for the people-watching--but the food fell short. While strolling down Ocean Drive, enjoying the vibrant art deco scenery, we decided to try Havana 1957. The restaurant's sidewalk seating offered a great spot to soak in the atmosphere, with views of the beach in the distance and plenty of people-watching along the pedestrian-friendly street. We tried the salmon and the empanadas, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the lively surroundings:    *   Salmon: Cooked a bit too dry and lacking flavor. However, the accompanying rice was delicious, with a hint of coconut that added a nice touch. The plantains were also well-prepared and enjoyable.    *   Empanadas: Average at best. The filling was underwhelming, with a bland taste that left me wishing for more seasoning or depth. Overall, this is a great spot to enjoy the ambiance and people-watching, but the food was disappointing, especially given the prime location. If you're looking for Cuban flavors, you might want to explore other nearby options.

Yelp
We stumbled on this lovely restaurant after a long beach day!! We thought we were just gonna grab a frozen drink but we ended up having a late lunch. We were greeted by a nice gentleman who escorted us to the bar seating. The decor was very 80's Miami. Pictures of some of musics jazz and blues greats covered the walls with gold frames. Very classic Miami vibes! There was also an original small stage area that looked like something out of a movie with the individual bulbs going around it! We ordered virgin pina coloda and strawberry and mango daiquiri. They were DELICIOUS!! i normally wouldn't partake in such a sweet drink but it was well worth it!! The presentation was beautiful as well. I ordered a classic salad and added salmon and a side of plantains which interestingly enough, it came with the onions like the other Cuban restaurant we visited and I didnt mind it at all. Everything was great. Food, ambiance, service, prices, location, decor. No complaints at all!!!

Yelp
Haven't been in a long time! But chicken was dry although it looked great. Drinks were good but you must pay the tourist price. Service was B- the guy bringing the food out was outstanding. But everyone else acts like they will auto grat you 20%. Because they will for all parties.
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
The service was great from start to finish. We sat outside on the patio and it was perfectly positioned to people watch. They have fans to help cool you down as well. One person restroom inside and very dark, calm decor on the inside. Food was great. Loved the yuca fries and empanadas.

Yelp
We were in town staying at the Marriott next door. Our 1st night in town we decided to try this restaurant and the food did not disappoint. It was a weeknight and we were a party of 2 so we were immediately seated. We chose inside seating - I love the decor , the lighting, and the ambiance. My husband got the Cuban while I opted for a sampler plate. They delivered complimentary plantain chips to the table while we waited on food. The cuban came with a 2nd version of plantain chips (the longer strips vs the circles). The sampler had their famous Chicken, Ropa Vieja, and Lechon (pork) plus white rice, black beans, and maduros. The Lechon was good but my favorite of everything was the Ropa Vieja. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is the service. I felt our waiter was not attentive. I am understanding and would not deduct a star for the staff being busy. However, that was not the case. At one point, I was looking for our waiter because it had been a bit and we were in need of something. As I looked around I found him hanging out behind the bar on his phone. Later when we were ready for checks, this was again the case. All that said, I would eat here again because the food is delicious. Hopefully the staff will improve their attentiveness.

Miriam B.

Yelp
I love Havana 1957 especially the one in 14 and ocean drive and the live show on Friday and Saturday. Jonathan was out server and the pork was delicious. I always request for him to serve us because of the way he always takes care of us . it's must place Togo.
google avatar

Lancer K.

Yelp
I love how attentive everyone is. The waiters, the lovely maître d', the bartender. Everyone's there to make sure you have a good time. This place gets really busy at peak times, so it's popular. Otherwise it's a quiet place to have a meal and relax. The food is good and I'm told by others that it's authentic. If it's your first Cubano restaurant then this is a good and convenient choice for South Beach visitors. If you know already know the cuisine very well, you probably should find a place with a larger menu selection, and I don't know where you can find such an alternative in South Beach.
google avatar

Jamie F.

Yelp
Came here late night and everyone was friendly. Crowded but it's a nice little vibe sitting outside. We only got appetizers. The empanada was so good! I almost asked for a 2nd order. Those polenta where so good but they only give u 4/5. Wish I took pics

Sehar M.

Yelp
This place was absolutely fantastic!! The ambiance was great and I the inside had ac where we felt comfortable. My friends and I only wanted a small snack and to have some Cuban food. This place is limited on veggie options, although that is to be expected of Cuban food. The service was quick and easy. Our waitress had some great suggestions for us. I shared the chopped salad with my friend, which included a cilantro dressing and plantains and my other friend had the steak empanadas. I highly suggest this place is you're around the beautiful espanola way!

Richard M.

Yelp
Visiting from Dallas and stopped by for our last dinner before resting up. Alex was amazing. Attentive, let us know how to eat the food, and had Ana amazing attitude! The food was AMAZING! DEFINITELY recommend the appetizer tower and the chicken! The fried plantains are good if you have a sweet tooth!! The ambiance of the place looked cute! It was extremely inviting and they have fans EVERYWHERE so you don't have to stay hot. 10/10 would be back again on our next visit! Thank you guys!

Yelp
From the moment we walked in we were given a warm welcome. Cynthia was our server. & George the manager was very attentive not only to us but to every customer that walked in. My mom and I are traveling from San Francisco...we went on a 3 days cruise and now staying 3 nights in Miami. I am glad we chose Havana 1957 on Collins ave as our 1st restaurant. They did not disappoint. The food, the atmosphere and the quality of service is above and beyond. It was a rare cold day in Miami. We chose to sit outside ....the warm outside heat lamp kept us nice and warm. I have no complaints with my visit at Havana. It's my mom's first visit in Florida and i wanted to make it special for her. She enjoyed her visit! Thank you George and Cynthia and the rest of the team for an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! SN: the presentation for the sampler platter can use some improvement but nonetheless the food was GREAT ;-)

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Service was quick and the waitress Liz was really helpful with the choices. The ambiance was a vibe. Food was delicious! My wife and I got the Yuca appetizer, Lenchon, and Ropa vieja.

Karine S.

Yelp
Food was delicious but the service stole the show. Liz was fantastic! So, so cute and helpful!

Yelp
Wonderful food and service! I am not usually a chicken fan, but wow! The Havana1957 chicken is a great choice!!!! Super moist, juicy and all the good things! We sat outside to enjoy the vibe, but the restaurant is just as amazing!!!

Yelp
Stopped by here for lunch on a girls trip. We both got a cuban sandwhich and it was so delicious!! What made our experience 5 star was the amazing staff. Our waiter Yorhander was incredibly friendly and made sure we had a great lunch! . Jorge was the owner and he stopped and chatted for a while. They both seemed to love what they do and gave us great recommendations for our stay! Would highly recommend coming here your next time in Miami!!

Yelp
My most favorite place to eat in South Beach! Great Cuban food and atmosphere! Always a good meal and time every time!

Yelp
We stopped by as a family of 10 and the server was very patient and attentive. I loved the decor and the relaxed space even though it was on the strip it felt very chill. The drinks and food were delicious. I loved the recommendation our server gave like the Cuban Combo, and the Arroz Moro.
google avatar

Alaleh P.

Yelp
We came here to try authentic Cuban food and we were not disappointed. The food, service and the atmosphere were amazing. Our host was very hospitable and had good sense of humor. We ordered Cuban beer and Spicy Margarita for drinks. And ordered "Cuban Burger" and "Cuban Sandwich" for our dinner. Drinks were really good and our food was very delicious and a bit heavy. I recommend sharing a plate lol. The food is generally saltier than other cuisines.
google avatar

Ricardo J.

Yelp
Delicious food! Liz did an amazing job recommending what to order. The signature chicken was really good!
google avatar

Gloria G.

Yelp
Convenient if you are staying at a hotel on the block. It has indoor and outdoor seating. The food presentation is nice.
google avatar

Gigi S.

Yelp
Keeping gf I ordered garlic shrimp and he had the shredded beef with plantain chips and rice which he loved. No mention of this dishes actual Cuban name- ropa vieja, but they did boast an awesome recrafted beer from Havana called LaTropical. Important to note- we had a long cruise the next day so we carefully checked freshness to avoid a possible vacation ending debacle. Good news- we felt great! There's a stage show inside just be sure to catch it on its best night- Saturday!

Elicia G.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Liz provided beautiful service. The ambiance was great even though it was a cloudy and humid day.

Yelp
My wife and I had a late night dinner here while in Southbeach on a recent work conference. We chose this because it was right next door to our hotel but were pleasantly surprised with our decision. I opted for the Cuban Sandwich and it was delicious!! I did add a little extra mustard... Service was a little slow considering it was late and not many patrons were there. But we chalked it up to the fact that the server was likely doing side work. All in all it was a great meal and we will try it again if we're in the area.
google avatar

Candice F.

Yelp
Oceanfront outside eating -- who can beat that? The sand dunes block most of the view, but you are right across from the beach at least. I was excited to eat Cuban but had underwhelmed by the Cuban sandwich! After I finished eating, I went to the restroom to wash my hands and there was a picture from the Miami Herald about the restaurant's Cuban sandwich being the best in the city -- with avocado! My sandwich didn't have avocado, and that would have made a difference! Unfortunately, I recently had a better Cuban sandwich at a Florida airport! The Cuban burger we ordered was excellent, as were the croquettes. Pork belly sandwich was a little dry. After all of this, I would come back just for the view -- this enough to warrant a return visit!
google avatar

Amanda R.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant. When we arrived for lunch, we were seated right away. They brought out complimentary plantain chips with a yummy sauce that tasted like cilantro lime sauce. We split the cubano sandwich and had some margaritas. The margarita was probably one of the BEST that I have ever had. The cubano sandwich was good. The bread was a little too toasted for my liking, but it was still good. Our waiter was very friendly and we really enjoyed our experience. They have live music at night that I wished we could have went back for.
google avatar

Joy N.

Yelp
Ate here last night and the food didn't disappoint. I ordered the pork chunks and husband ordered the Cuban sandwich. The mocktails were also good. There was a live band and they played good music. Our server Lulu kept checking on us and service was 10/10. Not sure if they have parking, but I did see a valet stand by the curbside.
google avatar

Eric N.

Yelp
Spectacular atmosphere and food. We came because the north location entertainment finished early. Manager took us in and sat us close to the stage. The food was amazing with decent prices compared to other boardwalk restaurants. The show was really good, atmosphere was always fun! They have a big selection of cocktails and you can even ask for drinks not in the menu.
google avatar

Latoya G.

Yelp
Yup... I'm giving 5 stars for the best rice, black beans, and picadillo that I've had. It was comfort food at its best! Took me right back to the food that my Cuban friend made for me years ago. If I could eat here weekly, I would! Came here for a quick bite to eat and I'm so glad that we did... we decided to sit outside, and I'm glad that we did as the inside was a little dark... I prefer a light and airy feel. Passion fruit mojito was good... maybe could have used a little more rum? The yuca fritas were delicious and came with a great green dipping sauce. Service was quick and friendly. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Be ready for some delicious Cuban food! This restaurant has days where it's loud and days where it's quiet! We were so excited to come here after seeing many Instagram reels about the hype. When we got there, we saw the manager and he immediately wanted us to get the best seat in the house, Buy one get one free drinks, and discount on our food! He showed us that we should never pay full price because we're pretty girls . The decorations here are so gorgeous with the flowers and the lights! I ordered the traditional Cuban platter and it was super good however, it didn't beat the Cuban food that I've had places before there like Tropical Mango Cafe. They have giant drinks for drink, drinkers, and cocktails. We had a great time. Definitely recommend coming to this street called Little Havana if you are visiting Miami for the best Cuban dish you can find! Thank you for the great service and delicious food! Wonderful experience!

Yelp
I love when i do my research on restaurants...show up and it's everything I expected! I had reservations, upon arrival got seated inside with great view of the live music. Our waitress, Lissy Rodriguez was attentive, kind and helped for food suggestions. Started with Cuban beer ( sooo good!), guacamole, Churrasco (steak), rice, beans and side salad. Absolutely loved the ambience, all the servers were happy to help. Definitely returning before leaving Miami. Shout out to LALO loves his job and does it with a smile from ear to ear!
