Where to Find South Florida’s Best Cuban-Style Sandwiches

"They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so a pan con tortilla is the way to go. Havana 1957 adds lechon (roasted pork), ham, cheese, and potato sticks to keep patrons full until lunchtime." - Stacy A. Moya

Kate our server was wonderful with our food allergies. We got happy hour drinks. The mojito was on point. Pork bites succulent. Corn tamales one of the best ever. Roast chicken was a holy heck. Great live music Friday night. Highly recommend

Google
We saw there was a lot of empty seats and should have taken it as a sign. The food was very average and it could of been overlooked had the service been better. We asked to be seated outside and I pointed directly at a large open area along Ocean Drive and was told ok. We followed the host to a different area and I said I requested over there to which I was told “the owner has that reserved for him and his guests’ which wouldnt have been a problem except half way through our lunch they started seating tables of two over in that area. Its literally half of the outside dining area as you can see in the picture. We were there about 90 mins and most of the tables stayed empty. The cuban was not served on cuban bread more like a toasted bun. The fries were served cold and as soon as our food was served we never saw a waiter again. When the came to start grabbing our empty plates to hurry us out we had 4 empty water glasses an empty coke glass, my beer was empty and my wife’s sangria was empty. All had been that way for 20+ mins. So finally we see our waiter after I had to ask for a table clearer to bring our bill and he hands me the tablet to sign for the bill and has the nerve to say the tip is included any addl is appreciated! So a $25 tip to not sit in the area I requested even though they sat other people there and to never have our drinks filled. Tourist trap on South Beach.

Google
The vibes here are amazing. There is indoor seating, where you’re in this really cool, dark cigar/karaoke lounge and outdoors you’ll enjoy Ocean Drive and the vibes there. Food was excellent - I personally highly recommend the Cuban Sampler. Service was excellent. And the place was very clean! The mojito bucket was amazing too! Be sure to be aware and cognizant of service charges and tax if you’re from out of town. The service charge was 20% of our entire bill.

Google
Our server, Kate, was terrific! The mojitos were excellent and the food was delicious…the portions are extremely generous too. A fun atmosphere and a beautiful view from the patio.

Today we decided to dine at Havana 1957 as the atmosphere and the vibe was one that dictated a wonderful experience. We couldn't be anymore right. LuLu was our server and she was a delight for us as she added her warmth and charm to our dining experience. She was warm, personable, friendly and very attentive to us. Greeted us with a beautiful smile, and that set the tone for the rest of our day. The food was spot on delicious and the plate presentation was appealing. Great Cuban cusine! I highly recommend Havana 1957 at 1410 Ocean Dr in Miami Beach. This restaurant was recommended to us by my brother who visited this precise location earlier this year. Bravo LuLu!!! Thank you for your great smile and for our delicious food.

Janelle

Google
All I can say is wow!! I was blown away by the place . Starting with the amazing customer service from Lulu. Lulu was so friendly and made the stay even extra special. My phone battery was dead, as I dined and enjoyed the amazing music Lulu found a charger for me to charge my phone while I dined. The music was amazing!! All of my favorite songs. It took me back to old Havana. I only planned to stay for a few songs but decided to stay the entire show. It starts at 8pm, I suggest getting there 7-7:30 to feet good seats. The band was fire!! Beautiful vocals and accompanying sound. It’s a chill vibe, classy and great atmosphere.

Google
This is my first time having real Cuban food. My gosh, I’ve never tasted food like this. I grew up in a Latino household and got to experience some truly excellent Mexican food, but this was my first time having authentic Cuban food and I’m blown away by the flavors. This restaurant is where it’s at if you want to try some flavors of Cuba with excellent service (thank you to our server Liz!) and a fun vibe.

Google
Food was amazing. Great combination flavouring. Service by Liz was top notch. Most importantly, atmosphere was superb. Not too many movement and calm with great music.

Yelp
Absolutely Fabulous! My wife had the grilled fish of the day and I had the Cuban Sampler platter. I would highly recommend both entrees. We also had the Cuban Tamale on the Happy Hour menu. The Mango and Original Mojito's were also great. This is a must try if you are visiting Miami Beach.
google avatar

Randi F.

Yelp
Liz was a professional and explained the best dishes to order. The fish was fresh and the chicken marinated for 36 hours was out of this world. Our meal was enjoyable as we tried the "locals restaurant" while in Miami on Ocean Drive. "A MUST TRY"
google avatar

Jenna K.

Yelp
Nice outdoor seating area! We ordered many dishes to share. My favorite was the skirt steak, it was cooked perfectly! Mojitos were delicious, I got a flavored one so was on sweeter side. The pork chunks were a bit chewy. The guacamole was average however the pork rinds on top were nice and crispy.
google avatar

Renee S.

Yelp
This place shares an entrance with Marriott vacation club and has a huge outdoor seating. They seem a little understaffed and disorganized since drink refills took a while and we only saw our server working the patio with food runners. We came for a late lunch on a Saturday. Views are nice. Our server and staff were very friendly and thanked us for choosing to dine with them. They asked us where we were from even. Good food and it didn't take long to come out. But our server was so quick with things sometimes we couldn't ask him for something before running away. Like I said though, he was working overtime on the patio. The yuca chips and whatever that sauce was are to die for. Beef Vaca Frita was also very delicious and authentic. Gratuity is included and there's a city tax FYI so don't expect to save money coming here (even for lunch). Would come back though as it's right on the beach!

Yelp
We had a nice dinner at Havana 1957. We sat outside which had a nice ambience and service was good. However, I felt like it seems like a chain restaurant and the portions of the appetizers were very small and the main entrées were fine. I just think we would go to a different Cuban restaurant the next time we were in Miami Beach.
google avatar

Yeganeh P.

Yelp
It's such a cute restaurant. Got an outside seat and enjoyed the crowd and music. Service and food were both great.

Yelp
Stopped in at Havana 1957 on Ocean Drive for dinner and had a great experience overall. The vibe was laid-back with a darker, cool ambiance that made it easy to relax. Drinks were strong and steady, just the way I like them. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp stuffed plantains, both suggested by my server Jazmine. She was excellent, attentive without hovering and really knew the menu. The shrimp cocktail was fresh and well-balanced, and the plantains were the standout. Perfect mix of sweet and savory. Only reason I'm holding back a fifth star is the pace was a little slow at times, but honestly, it fit the mood. Definitely worth checking out if you're in South Beach and looking for something with flavor and character.

Yelp
Customer service in the beginning was amazing. We got valet parking, I checked in for my reservation and everything was going amazing. Until we were being rushed to go inside to our table, once inside we still had to be in peoples way, standing, because our table wasn't even ready!!! Why rush us from the start?? It literally took our server/waitress about 20 minutes to come get our drink order. The restaurant wasn't even that busy. And it was a Friday night. We finally got our drinks and food order going but it was impossible to get ahold of our waitress, she hardly ever came around. Our bill ended up being $600 for about 6 of us, the tip of almost $100 was included in our bill. The food was overpriced. Idk if it's bc of where they are located. But next time I would rather go to Little Havana for some good Cuban food. Ambiance was okay, they had live entertainers and music but the experience could have been better. Maybe if service was better we'd be back.

Yelp
Didn't realize I'd came here four years ago. I came back and this time was much better. It was a super slow Monday afternoon so the service was prompt with no issues. The ambiance was really nice that afternoon, restaurant patio was a pleasant spot to be. We had cocktails and ceviche for a light lunch, food tasted great. I'd stop back through again.

Yelp
Flavor, Vibes, and the Best Cuban Sandwich Ever -- A South Beach Must If you're in Miami Beach and want the Cuban flavor experience, look no further than Havana 1957 on Ocean Drive. We came here for lunch, and from the first Mojito to the final bite of that legendary Cuban sandwich, it was nothing short of unforgettable. We first visited South Beach a while back and had what we swore was the best Cuban sandwich ever. So naturally, when we returned to Miami this year, Havana 1957 was at the top of our list--and it did not disappoint. We sat outside on the patio, right in the heart of Ocean Drive, soaking up the sunshine, ocean breeze, and nonstop people-watching. You feel the Cuban-Miami energy all around you--it's fun, vibrant, and exactly what you want on vacation. Service was great--once you're seated and that first Mojito hits the table, you know you're in good hands. Pro tip: There are definitely a lot of Mojitos to choose from, but stick with the classic--the perfect amount of mint and super refreshing in the Miami heat. We started with the ceviche, and it was the perfect opener--fresh, bright, citrusy, with just the right balance of salt and lime. And then came the star: the Cuban sandwich. Let's say it again: BEST. EVER. Crispy outside, melty inside, packed with flavor. We've tried a lot, but this one still reigns supreme. Between the flavor-packed food, beachside setting, and nonstop good vibes, Havana 1957 is a guaranteed stop anytime we're in town. And yes--we're already planning our next visit.

Yelp
I have to changed my prior thoughts on this place I came back the next night and the drinks were just as great but this time the rice wasn't hard! I'm in love with the pork chunks and Yuka chips! Patricia was there again and remembered us, telling us to choose another dish! The bf is happy with the choice! The live music is amazing! Love this place
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent location, amazing Cuban food and a great service. Our table of 12 was very well received and we enjoyed the experience!
google avatar

Yelp
This was easily the BEST Cuban food I've had. This was my first time in Miami and I had so many friends telling me where to eat. The hot spots that were scenes. If you want "quality" Cuban with a wonderful vibe, on Ocean Dr. with amazing colors surrounding you, come here. Patricia helped us and she was so kind, warm and sweet. My wife and I want to be her friend. It's not cheap but not expensive either. I'd say you're lacking IQ by not trying it.

Yelp
Amazing food, ambiance, service and our server Alex was amazing. The Cuban coffee, roasted chicken, chopped salad, croquettes and tres leches were all out of this world! Highly recommend.

AM M.

Yelp
Low quality and very salty Cuban sandwich. In one of our sandwiches they use an end slice of ham with was very hard to chew!!!! In the same areas are much better Cuban food and at a more reasonable price. Not recommend and Avery disappointed in their food quality.

Yelp
Was walking down Ocean Dr and wanted to see what we as a group of 4 could eat. The patio dining at this restaurant was very pretty and had inside / outside seating. We decided after looking at a few menus that we would try Havana 1957. From the beginning, the service was great. They were very attentive and always around. Some cocktails were ordered and we enjoyed the scene. When we ordered our food, I asked if they had Cuban bread and they did! We got a plate of that to start - and it was okay. Crispy bread. Other Cuban spots are a bit more flavorful with butter or garlic. We got our food and to my surprise, the ceviche was pretty abundant and filling. We thoroughly enjoyed the skirt steak. Was contemplating on it because of the price but glad we got it. Amazing flavor. Would come back for that. At the end of the night, we finished up and the staff was kind enough to help us take photos. We had a great experience here.

Ranjani M.

Yelp
Great food. Since they were so full the service was slower and the staff was struggling.

Yelp
My partner and I were in town for a short stay and wanted to try some authentic Cuban food. After looking at several restaurants and reviews, we decided on Havana 1957. We made reservations for 8:30 and when we arrived there were several diners seated on the patio. The hostess greeted us immediately and was very pleasant. She's asked if we wanted to sit inside or out. Although it was a nice evening, it was a bit humid so we decided to sit inside. The decor of the restaurant is warm and retro. Leather, red lighting and glass stain light fixtures with intricate details were throughout the space; in addition to Cuban history via pictures and memorabilia. We opted for a high top booth near the back. Our waitress arrived shortly thereafter with a smile; welcoming us and asking if we'd prefer still or sparkling water. We opted for sparking and also ordered the New Fashion. I love good Old Fashioned, so the New Fashion, which is a spin with Rum instead of Whiskey, was very tasty. There were so many delicious choices on the menu so we asked the waitress what her favorites were. We were happy when she said the flank steak and Cuban Sampler because we had basically already narrowed it down to those two. The food was perfection! All the meat was tender and flavorful. The black beans were seasoned perfectly as well. And the portions were plentiful. I give this place 5 stars and will definitely be back when in Miami again!

Yelp
I got the Ropa Vieja and it was absolutely delicious. But what truly made the meal was Patricia, she was so much fun and helped us pick out the best dishes. She's the best, if you come here ask for her.

Debra

Yelp
Amazing food and entertainment I would definitely recommend and come back again when in Miami
google avatar

Yelp
This place!! I never knew that I lived Cuban food until we came here. The food was amazing, and the hotel decor was breathtaking. As if that wasn't enough.... Our service was absolutely some of the best ever. The gentleman who greeted us appeared to be a manager, and he was fabulous from the get. Our server, "Jordy" was perfect. So attentive - without being annoying, personable, knowledgeable and friendly. If I make it back to Miami - stopping here again will be REQUIRED!!
google avatar

Grant H.

Yelp
A popular restaurant "chain" in Miami. We timed the seating so that we could watch the live entertainment.. It was a fun party atmosphere. Definitely a place to try while in South Beach!

Yelp
Stopped by for the ambiance, stayed for the people-watching--but the food fell short. While strolling down Ocean Drive, enjoying the vibrant art deco scenery, we decided to try Havana 1957. The restaurant's sidewalk seating offered a great spot to soak in the atmosphere, with views of the beach in the distance and plenty of people-watching along the pedestrian-friendly street. We tried the salmon and the empanadas, but unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the lively surroundings:    *   Salmon: Cooked a bit too dry and lacking flavor. However, the accompanying rice was delicious, with a hint of coconut that added a nice touch. The plantains were also well-prepared and enjoyable.    *   Empanadas: Average at best. The filling was underwhelming, with a bland taste that left me wishing for more seasoning or depth. Overall, this is a great spot to enjoy the ambiance and people-watching, but the food was disappointing, especially given the prime location. If you're looking for Cuban flavors, you might want to explore other nearby options.

Yelp
Food is affordable and amazing Ask for Liz amazing waitress she will take care of you

Yelp
This is my second time trying out Havana 1957 but my first time at this location. My other visit was just down the street from here. I would say the service was better this time for sure, but it also seemed like a quieter night as well. We honestly weren't that hungry so we skipped an appetizer and just got a pitcher of their mojito with passion fruit and our two entrees. You do get some delicious plantain chips to munch on while you wait for you food to come. The mojito was good but after drinking an entire pitcher I did not get a buzz. But it taste good. My wife ordered their Palomilla a plancha and I ordered their Masas de cerdo. Which I thought it would get something similar to when I ordered "masa de Puerco" at another restaurant. Unfortunately, not even close but still a decent meal. We ordered both our entrees with Moro rice and maduros. My sides steak was seasoned perfectly and topped with sautéed onions that tasted amazing. My dish came with the same sautéed onions and fried pork which is very similar to carnitas but not nearly as good. The dish was good but I definitely wouldn't order it again, but I can see myself returning for a third time.

Yelp
We stumbled on this lovely restaurant after a long beach day!! We thought we were just gonna grab a frozen drink but we ended up having a late lunch. We were greeted by a nice gentleman who escorted us to the bar seating. The decor was very 80's Miami. Pictures of some of musics jazz and blues greats covered the walls with gold frames. Very classic Miami vibes! There was also an original small stage area that looked like something out of a movie with the individual bulbs going around it! We ordered virgin pina coloda and strawberry and mango daiquiri. They were DELICIOUS!! i normally wouldn't partake in such a sweet drink but it was well worth it!! The presentation was beautiful as well. I ordered a classic salad and added salmon and a side of plantains which interestingly enough, it came with the onions like the other Cuban restaurant we visited and I didnt mind it at all. Everything was great. Food, ambiance, service, prices, location, decor. No complaints at all!!!

Yelp
Came here late night and everyone was friendly. Crowded but it's a nice little vibe sitting outside. We only got appetizers. The empanada was so good! I almost asked for a 2nd order. Those polenta where so good but they only give u 4/5. Wish I took pics
google avatar

Yelp
Great food and service. Love the cubano! Tasty drinks too. Can't wait to go back, thank you

Yelp
The food was great. That's the end of it. Our bill came. The most expensive mojito on the menu shows $26. They asked us if we wanted large. We said "sure!" It's $45 for a large mojito. We found this out when the bill came. We had a party of 10 for a birthday. They automatically charge 20% gratuity. That's fine, but the server took that as an opportunity to disappear for 45 minutes. No one checked on our food quality. Fortunately it was good. They then asked about a birthday at our table. They brought a birthday dessert without it being requested and charged us $25 for it. They refused to take it off the bill. They also charged $5 per person for live entertainment. This is not listed anywhere and we were blindsided by it. An extra $50 for our table. Of note, they also charge gratuity at 20% for the entertainment. I paid $100 for a Cuban sandwich and a mojito. That is simply absurd. Here's the thing. Their food is decent. If they didn't try to rip people off, they might return. We will not be returning.
google avatar

Christopher D.

Yelp
We came to Havana 1957 for a birthday celebration, and while the food itself was good, the service was truly disappointing and confusing. Having worked in the service industry for over 10 years, I've never witnessed anything like this: Our server asked the birthday person what dessert they wanted, and not only did they charge the birthday person for their own dessert, but they also charged the couple who had ordered it for them as a treat. It was an awkward and frustrating situation. To make matters worse, there was an additional "entertainment charge" added to the bill with no prior mention. Something like that should be clearly disclosed at the door, not snuck in at the end as a surprise. Unfortunately, between the poor handling of the birthday dessert and the hidden charge, this is not a place we'll be returning to.
google avatar

Sehar M.

Yelp
This place was absolutely fantastic!! The ambiance was great and I the inside had ac where we felt comfortable. My friends and I only wanted a small snack and to have some Cuban food. This place is limited on veggie options, although that is to be expected of Cuban food. The service was quick and easy. Our waitress had some great suggestions for us. I shared the chopped salad with my friend, which included a cilantro dressing and plantains and my other friend had the steak empanadas. I highly suggest this place is you're around the beautiful espanola way!

Jack S.

Yelp
The food is great and if you have LuLu as a server you will be in for a treat! I highly recommend a dinner or lunch here.

Yelp
From the moment we walked in we were given a warm welcome. Cynthia was our server. & George the manager was very attentive not only to us but to every customer that walked in. My mom and I are traveling from San Francisco...we went on a 3 days cruise and now staying 3 nights in Miami. I am glad we chose Havana 1957 on Collins ave as our 1st restaurant. They did not disappoint. The food, the atmosphere and the quality of service is above and beyond. It was a rare cold day in Miami. We chose to sit outside ....the warm outside heat lamp kept us nice and warm. I have no complaints with my visit at Havana. It's my mom's first visit in Florida and i wanted to make it special for her. She enjoyed her visit! Thank you George and Cynthia and the rest of the team for an AMAZING EXPERIENCE! SN: the presentation for the sampler platter can use some improvement but nonetheless the food was GREAT ;-)

Yelp
Great Mojotos at a great price. Our server Alex was very attentive and we came back a second time

Yelp

Yelp
The service was great from start to finish. We sat outside on the patio and it was perfectly positioned to people watch. They have fans to help cool you down as well. One person restroom inside and very dark, calm decor on the inside. Food was great. Loved the yuca fries and empanadas.

William C.

Yelp
I ordered Pork Chunks, the presentation was cool....served on a mini grill....but pork was dry. Hubby got the Cuban Sandwich....DELICIOUS!!!!

Yelp
We stopped by as a family of 10 and the server was very patient and attentive. I loved the decor and the relaxed space even though it was on the strip it felt very chill. The drinks and food were delicious. I loved the recommendation our server gave like the Cuban Combo, and the Arroz Moro.

Jessica T.

Yelp
had an exceptional experience at Havana 1957, largely thanks to our bartender, Gonzalo. His service was truly outstanding--friendly, attentive, and very personalized. He took the time to understand our preferences and made excellent recommendations, which made the experience feel special rather than routine. The quality of both the food and drinks was excellent; everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Gonzalo's professionalism and warm attitude really elevated the entire visit, and he is a big reason we would happily return and recommend Havana 1957 to others
google avatar

Alaleh P.

Yelp
We came here to try authentic Cuban food and we were not disappointed. The food, service and the atmosphere were amazing. Our host was very hospitable and had good sense of humor. We ordered Cuban beer and Spicy Margarita for drinks. And ordered "Cuban Burger" and "Cuban Sandwich" for our dinner. Drinks were really good and our food was very delicious and a bit heavy. I recommend sharing a plate lol. The food is generally saltier than other cuisines.
google avatar

Angela H.

Yelp
Alex is the most amazing server! The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and I will be dreaming about the chimchurri for a long time. Don't pass on dessert! The Cuban Tiramissu and the chocolate cake were both fabulous. Highly recommend Havana 1957!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was delicious. I highly recommend the empanadas! Our server Yorhander was very attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere! Did I mention the empanadas?
