"Hidden from South Congress by thatched roofs and palm leaves, Habana feels like a secret, tucked-away piece of the Caribbean. The restaurant makes some solid Cuban and Caribbean food—including one of our favorite Cuban sandwiches in town—as well as great tropic-inspired cocktails like mojitos and margaritas. The patio is full of cabanas that are perfect for feeling like you’re on vacation, and there’s even a cigar menu if you want to get fully immersed in the Cuban daydream. photo credit: Holly Dirks" - Nicolai McCrary

This is a brand new restaurant that I was looking forward to trying. I was able to make last minute restaurant for my friend and I at 6:30pm. When I arrived it was kind of difficult to find the restaurant. The GPS didn't take me right to it. It was located right in the middle of the plaza in the cut. When I walked in the man sat us. The place was very nice and spacious. Nicole was our server and bartender and she was super nice and attentive. I didn't order food but my friend ordered the sampler of appetizers. While we waited for that we ordered the red sangria and it was very tasty. When her appetizers came out I did taste the chicken empanada and it was very good. My friend really enjoyed the other appetizers, but the chicken she said needed a little more salt. The bill was about $60. All in all we had a good experience and I will definitely return.

Food was very tasty, and service was very attentive. We had the lechon asado and rope vieja. Both were excellant. I also loved the tostones..tasty and not at all greasy. For desert we shared the empanadas de gauyaba.....so so good. The meat was perfect and far better than the rope vieja we had in Havana.

This opened in May of 2021. The owner has two restaurants side by side offering a choice of options. Today we chose Havana Bay Cuban Restaurant. We were impressed with the overall decor of the restaurant. It is clean and spacious with quality furniture, lightning, bar, artwork, large modern bathrooms, etc. Since it was Happy Hour we decided to sit at the bar. We started with our drinks. A Margarita and their Havana Bay, which I had. I am not a person who likes mixed sweet drinks but, it was refreshing and for $5 it was a surprise. Next appetizers, we opted for Cubano Beef Empanadas, which was served with a habanero mayo sauce. It came out crisp and flavorful. Next the Cuban Croquetas. It's a bite sized fritter made of beef or chicken rolled in breadcrumbs. The Happy Hour appetizers are only $7. These small plates are a good introduction to this restaurant's cuisine. So we shared the Lechon Asado. It is marinated pork in their mojo sauce for 48 hours and then slow roasted for 8 hours. (Ask for mojo sauce on the side for dipping). It was served with Maduros, fried yellow plantains and Congri, which is rice mixed with black beans. The dish was tasty. This restaurant is worth a try. I wouldn't consider this an authentic Cuban restaurant but, don't let it stop you. The owner has put alot of money and effort to offer an introduction of Cuban cuisine with a vibe. It's located within the Hadley Shopping Mall, so there is plenty of parking with good lighting. The staff were friendly and very attentive.

I would give it 3 stars only for the decor, although the place is beautiful inside, the bar and the decor really beautiful however, sadly the food wasn’t good. They should really get someone to know how to cook Cuban food to be able to succeed because if the food is good they would bring more clients. The yucca was really hard and the seasoned on on it tasted bitter and spoiled, the tostones were dark, Ropa Vieja had too much vegetables and the rice and beans had no taste, the beef empanadas had cheese inside and were very oily that’s why I’m not sure if the chef has any Cuban background? If not, they need to really reconsider to get a new chef. The server was a young lady and she’s was sweet. I will not be going back unfortunately because the food didn’t taste good and I love me some Cuban food

Came to try out this restaurant, been to a lot of really good cuban places but felt this place was not too good. The ropa vieja had too much veggies in it which clashed with the meat. The passion fruit milkshake had too many ice shards in them and the empenadas were seasoned well except for the spinach and mushroom ones. Will most likely not return.

We went here for dinner and the restaurant is beautifully decorated and welcoming when you enter. We ordered the wings which were dry and overcooked they came with a sauce that didn't look appetizing nor did it taste it. I got steak with plantains and rice. The steak was delicious rice was salty and the plantains were overcooked not soft at all. My husband got the seafood soup which he said was good but salty. Our waitress was not friendly at all and rushed us when ordering. She seemed to be bothered when asking for refills or for a side she forgot to bring out. We were a party of 4 and they automatically added gratuity for 4 people??? The service alone didn't deserve that kind of tip. We looked forward going here but we will definitely not be returning.

My husband and I tried this restaurant for date night and the server who attended us was absolutely wonderful and attentive. The cocktails were delicious, so if you’re looking for great drinks then this is a great spot for that. However, the actual dishes were not the best Cuban food we’ve tried. The appetizers (ceviche & spinach empanadas) we’re pretty good overall in terms of flavor. For entrees, my husband ordered costillas (ribs) which were dry with not enough sauce to compensate for it, and the side of beans and yuca were okay. I ordered my churrascó (skirt steak) cooked medium, but since it was plated on a sizzling hot plate the steak was well done by the time I cut into it. Very unfortunate but the flavor and seasoning was spot on! The side of congri (rice & beans) was very small and the fried plantains were much drier than I expected. We also felt that the bed of veggies was a bit much on both plates and not necessary as that’s usually not something that’s paired with these dishes as a default. Overall, great service and nicely seasoned food, but it’s not at the level of a true authentic Cuban restaurant. We feel that $80 was a bit pricey overall for the quality of the meal.

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I couldn't be more happy they did. This will be my new spot for Cuban food and drinks! Excellent ambience, great staff, and their new fall drinks were very refreshing. I had the Churrasco, recommended to me by the oh so wonderful general manager Brianna, and it was cooked to perfection! Highly recommend this place, especially on Weekends! New King in town?
