Best Restaurants at Gillette Stadium | Eater Boston

"If you’re heading north toward the stadium and want something different than pub grub, this small, woman-owned cafe is a must-stop. The menu is full of Cuban classics — think pressed sandwiches with pork and crisp pickles, hearty ropa vieja with rich flank steak, and garlicky camarones al ajillo." - Tanya Edwards

Google
Everything we ate was amazing! Their chicken empanadas were well seasoned. Beef ones were great too but was really impressed by the chicken ones. Their sauces are so good and kicked things up a notch. I want to go back before we leave this area.

Excellent Cubano sandwich and cortadito (Cuban espresso with cream & azucar). Available for delivery on the Grubhub app

Google
DELICIOUS! I am Cuban so I know what good, real Cuban food is and this is as authentic as you can get! My only wish is that the dining space was bigger so we can bring a large group out to dinner with us, besides the dining room size, the food, atmosphere and service are GREAT!! We usually do ‘take-out’ and many times ordering the food to go isn’t as good when doing this BUT Havana’s food tastes GREAT when eating at home! We use Grub Hub and DoorDash for delivery! We highly recommend eating in, delivery or take-out at Havana’s Cafe!!

Google
It was sunny and warm and I drove by seeing a outdoor table available at this small establishment and pulled over looked up the menu online. The reviews and pictures for a smaller place were very good. I ordered Mojito’s, boiled Yuca, Tostones, the Cuban Sandwich and a Croqueta. The drinks were delicious and all the food was cooked great. Our server was great as well. Would definitely pop in the next time I’m in the area. On street parking available.

Yelp
I always kept it at 4 because of service, it was never horrible, but not great, the service was better but the food really makes it a 5, as the phantom gourmet would say a true hidden gem. Authentic delicious food served in a very Cuban vibe with the decor and music. And we always try something new, this time the tequenos, awesome, so yummy, I hate cilantro and even loved the sauce.

Yelp
Havana Cafe a short 25-30 min drive from Providence. The waiter was attentive. This is a small place which I like. Laid back intimate vibe. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The corona came with a well chilled glass. The camarones alajillo comes with either white rice and beans or mixed together. The tequenos are like mozzarella sticks but better with a cilantro sauce. I also did try a empanada with guava which was different but also good. I do wish they had outside seating but even so it's worth the drive.

Yelp
" Authentically traditional food and vibe " This little mom and pop shop is a breath of fresh air. The food is good . It tastes fresh and delicious. My husband and I ordered some drinks . I had some empanadas and he had a Cuban sandwich. It tasted fresh , delicious and traditional. Authentic good favorable food and drinks . Service is provided with an old school vibe of greatness. The vibe is fun and warm . Like visiting an old friend . Parking is not an issue so no worries. Prices are reasonable for quality and portion size . Their staple is authentically traditional. A breath of fresh air in this materialistic world.

Yelp
We chose a beef empanada with Mojitos to start our meal which were excellent choices. We both opted for the Picadillo for our meal Our server greeted us with a smile and was attentive but not hovering The background music was lively Cuban tunes This restaurant will be added to our rotation

Yelp
Took my love out for Cuban food - we loved this place! Small, charming, family business vibe - delicious food and good drinks. Honestly, it was the best rice of any kind I have ever eaten. Not a grain remained.

Yelp
What a gem! We were driving to the Xfinity center for a show and needed to stop for dinner. Found this on the map kind of on our way and decided to stop. Such a cute little restaurant, service was great! All the food we had was so so good! But the Cuban flan, we would go back just for the flan.

Yelp
What a great little restaurant! Let me start by saying I've driven by this place so many times and it's always been at the wrong time. I'd just eaten, I was in a rush to get somewhere or I was on my way home from Boston and it was already closed for the evening. I live in Providence so it's about 25 min north with not much else around it and there's so many great places to eat around here, I would forget about Havana Cafe when thinking of somewhere to go. Inevitably I would pass it again, think of how cool and authentically Cuban it looked and tell myself I HAVE to remember to go there! Well folks, it finally happened and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! It was everything I was expecting it to be. I was in the area with a friend and when looking at the route on maps, I saw I would be passing right by Havana Cafe on the way back, right around 6pm on a Friday. Couldn't have been more perfect. It had been raining for most of the day but the clouds parted like the into from the Simpson and the weather turned out to be perfect for sitting at one of their 2 outdoor tables. I had my puppy with me so we needed to be outside. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of a Caribbean cafe so next time puppy will stay home and I will dine inside. The waitress was very nice and took our drink order. We got pork belly and fried yuca for appetizers. The pork belly was really good and a huge portion for $13 and it even came with salty plantain. The yuca was excellent (could be the best I've had around here) with it being crispy on the outside but soft and creamy inside. For our meal we both ordered a sandwich and then got the red snapper to share. The snapper was more than what the menu stated with the waitress stating it was because they were larger than normal. It wasn't that much more so we accepted it. He got the Cuban sandwich and I got the steak sandwich with Swiss cheese. All of the food was excellent. The sweet plantains that came with the fish were really good. The fish itself was delicious. He said his sandwich was awesome. My steak sandwich was so good. The steak and onions were seasoned really well. The bread was soft and tasted really good. I'm not sure what kind of bread it was but I'll have to ask next time so I can get some for home because that's how much I loved it. Last thing we ordered (and I'm glad the table next to us reminded me because I would have been bummed if I had forgotten to order them) were a couple mojitos. They were excellent and brought me back to lounging on the beach at a Mexican resort a few years ago. They were refreshing with fresh mint and the perfect amount of ice. I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This is a North Attleboro gem. While the Cuban sandwich was just ok (it was a bit dry and could have used some sauce to spice it up), everything else was delicious. I also had a nicely done fried whole red snapper, some juicy sweet plantains, and some surprisingly good and nicely salted rice that I generously infused with black beans to make a scrumptious side dish. I'll definitely be back, albeit I'll likely bypass the sandwich next time.

Yelp
Amazing , we went in and they were about to close and they still gave us 5 star service and the food was amazing !!! Authentic and such a home cook feel, this is my new spot for sure !!!

Yelp
Really enjoyed my experience at Havana Cafe. I'm glad it caught my eye as I was driving into North Attleboro. It's a very small spot that has a limited amount of seating. I noticed when I got there that they have unique operating hours, so be sure to make sure you check those before visiting. In addition, the parking is very limited and unclear as to what parking is designated for the restaurant. I was lucky to grab a spot right in front on a Saturday afternoon. I was happy with my dish. I ordered the Camarones Al ajillo (shrimp cooked with garlic). It comes with rice, black beans and your choice of salty, sweet plantains, or yuca. I went with the salty plantains. The dish fell a little short for me on flavor. However, it did have an authentic feeling which I liked. The portion of food seemed a little less than what I would have expected for the $16.99 price tag. I'm always a fan of local restaurants and will definitely be back to try other options on the menu.

Yelp
We were so happy we found this gem. The food and service were excellent. I will definitely recommend Havana cafe and the ropa vieja! The place was small but very welcoming and cozy.

Yelp
Amazing food . Definitely coming back . One of the best margaritas we've had and reasonable price . Great !!!!

Rade S.

Yelp
We have dine there twice, and both times, the food was exceptional. The restaurant is charming; quaint with an "old school / Mom & Pop" vibe. The service was good! My husband had the shredded beef dinner, I had the Cuban sandwich; both were quite good! Worth searching for! A delight!

Yelp
This past weekend for my 40th, Havana Cafe provided the catering! Being from Miami it's near impossible to get great Cuban food outside of Miami and Havana Cafe certainly delivered a taste of home. The food was incredible! All our guests wanted to know where the food was from and complimented it all night. It was perfectly prepared. We had Pernil, ropa vieja, moro, yuca w/mojo, sweet plantains, white rice and a variety of croquettes. We had ropa vieja with white rice and a fried egg the next morning for breakfast and it was still incredible. 10/10 highly recommend. You can tell they made the food with love. Can't wait to have them cater another party. Huge thank you to Marisol and the crew at the restaurant for making my birthday special.

Yelp
An absolutely fine establishment for Cuban cuisine, You get a good vibe walking in the door. You're greeted very quickly with smiles and warm welcomes by the staff/proprietors. Having never partaken in Cfood I was open to whatever it had to offer. Pleasantly surprised. The both of us chose the same thing for dinner. We ordered the Bistec de Pollo. The chicken was quite good. Nice flavor covered in sautéed onions. Having a choice of sides We chose the sweet plantains and the black beans and rice. The sweet plantains were out of this world. You get about four of them and if you like sweet these are right there. But not over the top sweet. The black beans and rice may be considered a bit bland but went well with the rest of the entrée. Be sure to order the sangria. Not too sweet, nice and fruity.

Yelp
Great food! Great service. Very friendly I love the atmosphere. Looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Ordered Ropa Vieja with white rice and sweet plantains. The plate was 22$... I got about one cup of rice, 4 plantains, and a small container of beans and the shaved steak. It was ok- not worth going back for. I would have liked more rice for the price. The steak wasn't what I expected. Very chewy. It was super fresh and hot when I picked it up so that was nice. First time trying Cuban food and probably the last.

Yelp
Best mojitos ever. Apparently I've only had bad mojitos. This was mind blowing. So refreshing! Same goes for churros and everything else we got. They were amazing! My son even ate 1.5 empanadas. Everything was so good. Will definitely come back. And if you're like us and don't know what to get, ask the waiters for help. We weren't steered wrong. You're welcome

Yelp
Tried this little place after numerous friends told us how good; they were correct. My husband ordered steak and chicken and the chicken was delicious. I ordered an empanada with the cringes and it was delicious Definitely will be our new place to eat.

Yelp
Non-franchise hidden gems are hard to come by - especially if they don't have a website! This place is so unique in this area.

Yelp
We were in town for a football game and found this place via Yelp before we headed home. I was surprised at how small it was. we were asked if we had reservations, which we didn't, but luckily it was early and they were able to seat us at a bar top table. I loved the croquetas that I had for an appetizer. I had a hard time chewing my steak sandwich though. I was really dry. My husband said the piccadillo was okay. My fried plantains were delish. The menu is a bit limited. So sides for the win.

Irene A.

Yelp
My husband, daughter and I went to this small restaurant and like it a lot. The food was great, hot, and timely served. We had the pork chop, Cuban sandwich and beef empanadas.
google avatar

Jessy R.

Yelp
Rice & beans were good. Staff was very friendly Small but cozy restaurant. Tried the fried steak and it was not good at all. Maybe cut it up into pieces? The sweet plantains were perfect.

Yelp
Food was amazing and authentic. Service was even better. I'll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to others.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food, and good service--what more can you ask for? They have options for indoor or outdoor seating, and only street parking is available. I ordered the Bistec de Pollo with fries. The chicken was very flavorful along with the rice and beans. The fries were also delicious! Definitely would love to try other items on the menu next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Menu was misleading They were out of things and didn't tell us till they brought the food Place was full and no one had food Lots of confusion Place was meh

Yelp
Amazing food! I swear they have a grandma with all the family recipes in the back producing all the food, because it's actually home cooked food. Service might be slow sometimes but it's worth it. Servers are very nice....Again it feels like family serving us not workers. Drinks are also good I recommend a Cuba libre Not a lot of seats low lighting the 2 big widows light up most of the restaurant during the day gives it a nice touch. NOTE: kids chicken fingers or w/e it's called there is literally dinosaur chicken nuggets....Other than that this place is great.
google avatar

Missy A.

Yelp
Love the Cuban culture reflected in the paintings/photos on the wall and a little bit of the decor integrated throughout the cafe. Downside is there is parallel parking in front for maybe 3 cars, however if you can get a spot you won't regret it. The food is just how my grandma would make it and the staff is very friendly (bi-lingual). Casual restaurant with good prices and good food!

Yelp
Once again we found ourselves hungry after our son played in a nearby baseball tournament. Decided to stop in after reading the great Yelp reviews, and we were not disappointed. Plenty of on street parking available right in front of the restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly welcomed inside by the friendly staff, and were seated right away. It was slow at around 3:00 pm which was nice. It is a small restaurant so keep that in mind, however the interior is cozy, clean and well decorated. Our server was friendly and attentive, and promptly got our menus and drink orders. I tried their margarita which was delicious, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his drink as well. Our son opted to get 3 beef empanadas which were on the appetizer menu, and they came out quickly and piping hot. He said they were delicious. My husband had the Vaca Frita and I had the Camarones al Ajillo. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and were cooked perfectly. Ingredients were fresh, and the dishes were flavorful. We all agreed that this was one of the best meals that we have had in awhile at a restaurant and decided to end with another drink and some fresh and hot churro's. The churros were delicious and we opted to pair them with some Nutella for dipping which didn't disappoint. If your looking for delicious, authentic Cuban food, check this place out. We are so happy we decided to stop and are planning on going again tomorrow after our next baseball game.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Little restaurant with a bunch of flavor. We stopped here after a visit to wrentham. If you're in the area, I highly suggest you stop by to have a home cooked meal. Everyone was very welcoming and kind. And the serving size was filling.

Yelp
Food is ok limited menu. The Cuban sun is good. I've eaten here a few times and the food is ok but a little bland. I've ordered the black beans, rice and pork chops it was very bland. Very nice people and a super cute restaurant I think they need more variety or a changing menu

Yelp
As I had lived in Miami for many, many years, I was unable to find TRUE and authentic Cuban food outside of South Florida for many years, especially in New England. I have found THE place for such great cuisine in this small and cozy restaurant just north of Providence. We started with croquettes and empanadas and I was floored by their great taste. For dinner, I had the 'Ropa Vieja' (shredded beef in sauce) with 'Congri' (black beans and white rice cooked together) with 'Yuca con Mojo' (cassava with garlic sauce). OMG...it was spectacular! I was taken back to those days and will gladly come back to try more dishes. My husband had the 'Picadillo' (ground beef) with 'arroz con frijoles' (black beans and white rice cooked separately) and 'platanos' (sweet plantains). We topped it off with 'Yuca con mojo' (vanilla custard with syrup) for dessert and were VERY satisfied. Bravo!!

Bri S.

Yelp
Always good food. Best Cuban! Good smoothies to. The same lady is always there and she is super friendly to. Very good service highly recommend!

Catherine M.

Yelp
We got takeout tonight for the first time and WOW!! Everything was amazing! I don't know how they manage to keep the churros soft and crunchy in take out containers but they were delicious. We both tried the beef empanadas, they were amazing so well seasoned great filling amount. I had the Ropa vieja which was delicious and my husband had the steak sandwich that was incredible. Can't wait to go back!

Ryan B.

Yelp
My partner and I were visiting the Restoration Hardware Outlet and wanted lunch. This place is right down the street from the outlets, and is an amazing find. The beef empanadas especially are to die for, as are the mariquitas. The Cuban sandwich was delicious, and was very fresh. The Ropa Vieja and salty plantains were delicious and very flavorful. Would absolutely come again!! Thank you!

Elaine L.

Yelp
Great food Caring friendly staff Small cozy space with great Cuban music flan to die for Relax and there's no rush
google avatar

Northscott G.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. It is a tiny restaurant that seems to do a good takeout business. The Cuban is good. My favorite is the Picadillo with congris and sweet plantains. It's savory, sweet, and salty together. So flavorful. The staff is super friendly.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Food and Service were tremendous. Had the best Cuban sandwich I have ever ate. We went for lunch and I would have come back again for dinner that same night. Cant miss spot!

Gwen F.

Yelp
Can't recommended enough. The food is consistently, always, delicious and the staff are very kind. The inside of the restaurant is small and has limited seating but don't be fooled; their takeout never disappoints and is always of the same quality/satisfaction as sitting down which I feel you don't find very often.

Yelp
I have been going to Havana Cafe for just over a year now and my numerous trips have always rewarded with delicious food with great, friendly service. This is a modest but cozy family-owned establishment and we've always felt very welcome there and well taken care of. The service is fantastic and the woman is so nice and smiley! Cuban food is so good and this place makes no exception. Through my numerous visits, I've been making my way through most of the menu. I really dig their sandwiches including their Cubano ($7.99) and Croquette ($6.99) one. Both are very different but delicious. The real star however and my go-to is their Vaca Frita ($14.95) entree (shredded flank steak, grilled onions, white rice, black beans and salty plantains). It is one divine and so different. The textures and flavors are out of this world. If you want to go traditional, you can order the Cuban national dish, Ropa Vieja which is rather similar but which also features bell peppers in the mix. I always get appetizers here by the way, and their empanadas are a sweet deal at a buck fifty each. Their guava one is really good as is their meat and cheese ones. I usually get a bunch of them to share among ourselves. Whatever you do though, make room for dessert. Especially for their Margarita's flan ($5.25) which showcases Cuban flan baked onto pound cake. It's a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Do it. All in all, this place has made the rotation of restaurants that I often go out of my way to patronize and I really love it. It's simple, well done and affordable and I look forward to many more visits in the future!

Yelp
Food was great and the service was good. Everyone was friendly and even didn't kick us out when they closed at 9pm. My date and I were there till at least 9:30 and the staff was patient.
google avatar

Guy K.

Yelp
Cute hole in the wall place for a good Cuban sandwich. Best flan I have ever had as well! Definitely give it a try
google avatar

Andres R.

Yelp
Stopped last evening for an early dinner and we enjoyed it once more. Immediately seated by our congenital bilingual waitress, who rapidly took our our order of wine and appetizers. Their Santa Ana Malbec was delicious and it paired very well with our appetizers, which included scrumptious chorizo croquettes, and small empanadas filled with cheese and guava--just sinful. My girlfriend ordered the media noche bocadillo sandwich for her main course, and it was so large she took half back home. And I ordered their tilapia a la la cubana, which consisted of a large tilapia fillet baked with a tomato based creole sauce, accompanied with fried sweet plantain and congri rice. If you appreciate Cuban/Caribbean cuisine, especially during winter, we strongly recommend this little jewel in North Attleboro.
google avatar

Ruth B.

Yelp
Never had anything but a delicious meal here. I had a perfect pina colada here. Not too sweet and just enough alcohol. The service is always great. The meat empanadas were amazing. Got the steak sandwich and it was so flavorful. I think this is the first review I ever salivated whilst writing.

Helen B.

Yelp
Amazing food, want to go back for the ropa viejo and the churros! The service was incredible, super sweet and warm atmosphere.

Ivette L.

Yelp
We try fish with yuca... was so good. I forgot the photo. It was fried red shapper and viste de palomilla, arroz congri....mi God have to try...the taste delicioso.

Kelley S.

Yelp
Amazing food ! Love the Cuban sandwich and the meat pies. We drive from Cranston R.I. to pick up food here it's that good! It's small on the inside but who the hell cares when the food is so delicious
google avatar

Erica D.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Wish I took pictures before shoving it down my throat. Service was great, cute small place inside and the food is amazing. My boyfriend said it was the best Cuban he has ever had. Highly recommend!
