The 38 Essential Vancouver Restaurants

"A crisp fall afternoon is perfect for people-watching on Havana’s spacious patio on the Drive. Alongside a comprehensive list of rum, mezcal, and tequila drinks, this cheerful locals’ institution has some of the city’s best nonalcoholic cocktails (the salted cucumber “margarita” is especially good) to accompany fried plantain chips and chunky guacamole. The twice-daily happy hours, packed-out brunch (free pancakes for kids 8 and under till 11 a.m.), and well-priced menu of Latin American staples, which ranges from tacos to Cubanos, have made this a rightly popular spot for around 30 years." - Nikki Bayley

Pretty impressive place. We went to a show near by and popped in here for happy hour afterwards. We had the: Ceviche ($14) - Delicious. Very well seasoned, not overly citrusy like some. They served it with corn tortilla chips and plantain chips. Tripled Cooked Fries ($5) - Well seasoned and sauce was different. 1212 Burger ($13) - No sides, because it was a happy hour item, but it was one of the better burgers that I have had. Very juicy and tastes great. Mussels Espana ($14) - It was 1/2 lbs, but a great sauce, with a side of garlic toast. Sparkling Sangria ($12) - The star of the show. They were very generous with their alcohol or it was very strong alcohol. Lol Cheeky Tiki ($8) - Came in a very cute pineapple glass which tasted absolutely amazing. Service was wonderful. Our server was extremely attentive and was also the one to make out drinks as well and kept filling up out water jug. Overall great experience and great prices for happy hour. Would definitely come back and try other stuff.

Amazing place!! Love the atmosphere, food and service. Happy hour is the best the prices are great try any one of their margarita pitches or mojito pitches $30 during happy hour such as steal!! 100% recommend will be coming back regularly ❤️

Google
Amazing service!! All the staff are super friendly and incredible! I was there for brunch with some friends before the Oscar’s and loved it. Definitely worth it to eat in here, the food and drinks were delicious! So sorry I forgot the name of the staff that assisted us but they were exceptional ❤️

Came for dinner with a friend as walk-in, no wait. Got their 1212 burger in which the patty was dry and not hot. Asked a waiter, and I got a redo so I was thankful for that. That being said, the new patty was hot but not that juicy and flavor was kinda plain... almost like a frozen patty... maybe could've used more seasoning. I got fries as sides which were dry and overly salty. Okay to eat but I had to drink alot of water. Service was okay. I actually had a hard time flagging down a waiter for my burger. They seemed busy. Also the toilets were out of TP and paper towel bins were full.

The Cubano is delicious and authentic! Those triple cooked fries are tasty and go so well with the bravas sauce!

Google
We passed by the place and found the vibe we liked, could get a patio seats without waiting and it was great atmosphere. The Croquettes very delicious, pitcher of Sangria worth to try. If you look for a cool chilling spot, head to Havana.

I came here twice. First experience was good. We had margarita and mojito. They were very delicious. We shared some food. One special one was super delicios but burger wasn’t good. I don’t prefer again. So second one I told my friends we can have drink there around 9 pm in the weekend. We went there and we ordered our drink which was so tasty again too. We were talking and drinking our drinks around 9.45 the server came ans she said that is last call and we should wash the dishes. We felt super uncomfortabla because we felt like they were waiting us to finish and they should suppose to close at 11 pm that is why we came there. I was almost finish my drink and server just came and she picked my glass and she gave us the bill around 10.15. My all thinking about that place has changed at time. I don't prefer to come back but we have a beautiful patio, I will give one more chance.

Yelp
WOW! It has been literally 10 years since I have visited Havana. I thought I was here at least within the past 2-3 years. But anyways I am here to update my review or maybe like a check-in of how they are doing within the past 10 years. Came here for happy hour with a friend on a weekday and to be honest, they have been VERY consistent. My friend I came here for a pitcher of sangria, and it was delicious and very boozy red. Loved it a lot. And we had some appys and a burger and a sandwich. It was consistently beautiful and to boot, still love their patio thing they have, but I was never much of a patio queen. The waitress who was serving us was helpful and she was nice. She was attentive and she was always around when we needed more food or more ordering. On top of that, she did let us know about Happy Hour cut off time and she was nice about it. Anyways, Havana always seem to be a great place to hang out, and they will be consistent with all their food and drinks! Love the vibes and will always recommend over other Vancouver spots! That is a for sure!!

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday afternoon. We sat outside under a heater. Very cute restaurant with cute Halloween decorations. The server was really friendly and gave us great recommendations. I ordered a chicken sandwich, my friend ordered a cubano sandwich, and my other friend ordered chicken and waffles. Everything was delicious! We also ordered three of their Halloween-themed cocktails, but they were just okay. The food was great and I recommend a visit!

Yelp
Try the ceviche for appys, Cubano sando for a main, and churro bombs for dessert! I've been here a handful of times before and each time it never disappoints. Staff are super friendly and attentive, not to mention probably the hottest in Vancouver next to Cactus Club, and the atmosphere is always vibrant and welcoming.

Yelp
The ambience of the deck on a nice summer day is great, but aside from that, I'm not sure I would return. I got a cocktail which tasted like it was put together in a rush with bottom shelf alcohol. The salad was pretty pricey for what it was.
google avatar

Gabriel Y.

Yelp
I went for breakfast and it was hard to decide what to order. There are a lot of great options. I tried their Chorizo Hash with their Caesar cocktail and they were so yummy. Their service is awesome. If you have questions they can help you out!!! Beautiful environment that reminds me of Havana. P.s.: Busy place, try to arrive earlier or you will wait!

Yelp
I love eating Cubano sandwiches so I chose the weekday brunch Croque Senora. Well pressed Cubano, tasty meal.

Yelp
It's quite a lively place on a Saturday evening. They have a small patio and parklet seating (quite large/nice - with umbrellas to block sun). Most tables were full the entire time we were there. Unfortunately, we sat inside and it was quite loud from music/people so we had to talked in very raised voices to hear one another. We ordered tostones (good), ceviche (lacking - not much fish, mostly avocado), grilled octopus/chorizo (ok - not much octopus), paella (big portion but so salty), salad (actually, one of the better items). Service was good and portions decent sized. The food though was just ok - some dishes came out hot while others felt barely warm. Salt levels were through the roof on a couple items while others seemed to have right amount of seasoning. It just felt disjointed overall.

Yelp
Oh man, I've been wanting to come here for a long time and so glad we did today. Especially come on a day or evening when it's sunny! But they have you covered (literally) if it's not sunny. They have a completely outside patio, a patio that's covered and inside. The patio that's covered has heat lamps too, so you'll be kept warm. The service was top notch and everyone was so friendly We did happy hour and mainly ordered drinks but did get some snacks. Everything was delicious! I ordered the Santa Clara Sling, which was AMAZING. If you love passionfruit, and rum, this is the one. My other friend got the Cuban old fashion with brown butter rum (do I need to say more) and then the spicy pineapple margarita......the only problem I had, was that they weren't bottomless! They were allllll so amazing! If I wanted something I could sip or would be the sling, if I wanted something in a jug, the spicy pineapple margarita! The ceviche was yum, felt really cooked through, almost a bit dry, but the flavours were yummy. The favorite was the Pablano corn dip was the best and I want it again! My hubby did the 1212 burger, and it was a great moist, flavorful burger. I loved the bun, it was the best burger bun I've had in awhile. All in all, it made me wanting more and I'll for sure be back!

Yelp
Nice ambiance, outdoor patio was poppin for late night happy hour. Spicy margarita was really spicy. All the food was delish. Would come again.

Yelp
I came back to Havana again after an absence of almost 15 years. It is still a solid choice for a fun and jovial dining experience. Service is great and drinks are good. My hibiscus mule was very refreshing on a hot summer evening. We had ceviche, pulpo y chorizo, to stones, Calle Ocho salad, and paella. Our salad and paella were very flavourful. Tostones are always great. The portions of fish in the ceviche and octopus in the pulpo y chorizo make them look like they are the accompaniments versus being the main ingredients. They were more avocado than fish in the ceviche and chorizo / potatoes / tomatoes than octopus in the other dish. I will go back to try the cubano sandwiches though. They look good.
google avatar

Audrey T.

Yelp
Enjoyed their late night happy hour (starts after 9pm on Thursday). Shared the Cubano sandwich, chips with salsa and guac and the ceviche between two people. Good amount of food to snack on, wish they served more chips! Hot sauce was on point. Beer was also tasty and satisfying - $4.50 for a sleeve.

Yelp
Havana was our nirvana after a full day trip to Whistler. We went there on a Saturday evening at about 9.30pm and were instantly seated. I was absolutely sure that there would be a long wait just because the place is always crowded but I was pleasantly surprised. I had my doubts again when I saw the menu and realized it is a very limited menu. Based on our server's recommendation we ended up getting avacado tostones, Commercial Club Burger, and Calle Ocho Salad. We were not disappointed. The restaurant lived up to its reputation and the food was all delicious. The Commercial Club was nothing special but the other two were mouthwateringly delicious. If you are ever at Havana, do try their avacado tostones!

Yelp
Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Reservations are made online on OpenTable and require a credit card to hold the reservation. The patio is first come, first served. We visited in late April and the additional street patio was already set up and ready for the summer. Food: The tacos (Fish & Carnitas) with fries $18. Rating 6.5/10. There are other side options as well. The taco tortilla is quite thick and not pleasant to eat, and doesn't pair well with the stuffing. The fish taco has a kick to it, while the carnitas taco was a bit dry and needed some sauce. Friends had highly recommended the fries, but I was disappointed when I tried them. They were thick, straight-cut fries with a hard exterior and were not fluffy inside. The Little Havana Lunch Bowl $18, with an additional $6 for Spanish Chorizo. Rating 6.5/10. I did not enjoy the canchita as it was a little too hard and crunchy when mixed with the other food items. There was nothing special about the bowl, but I recommend adding the Spanish chorizo as the additional taste and texture elevates the bowl. The Hibiscus Mule $7 - Rating 10/10. It is non-alcoholic, but vodka can easily be added for an extra $4. It is very refreshing on a sunny day on the patio, and the drink also looks fancy.

Yelp
It must've been a decade since I was here last, it certainly has had a gorgeous makeover! I came in for a weekend brunch with out of town friends. Seated in the back section surrounded by beautiful plants, teal walls and woven rattan light fixtures with a great view of the bar/ and street. I loved the Bottle of Sigura Vidas sparking with 3 options of juice! Started with a appy of the fried plantains with avo dip, was delicious! My partner and I shared the Chicken and Waffles, and the Enchilada Brunch Skillet. Both dishes were tasty and plated beautifully. It had a great vibe here, no rushing us out like some places do on a sunday.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally tried Havana! The corn dip with crispy chips is unreal. As are the triple cooked fries. The veggie burger is alright. Will be going back again soon for the cheesy poblano + corn dip goodness!
google avatar

Joelle L.

Yelp
Great service :) great food! great vibes. We had the chicken burger which was delicious!! Had that with another side of triple cooked fries and the corn dip which is uhhhhhmazing, the tortilla chips are what all tortilla chips should taste and CRUNCH like!

Yelp
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and amazing food. Highly recommend this place. Just overall great vibes. I always order a classic red wine sangria here.

Yelp
I stopped by right at opening on a weekday. I was seated right away by the windows. Water and menus were dropped off. I ordered a cheeky tiki and a cubano sandwich with mariquitas (plantain chips). Drink and food arrived fairly quickly as I had placed my order before the lunch rush. My cheeky tiki drink was nicely presented. It was a mix of pineapple, orange and lime juices mixed with passion fruit and coconut syrup. It was a citrusy drink. My sandwich was good. I think bread, cheese and deli meat are always a good combination. Also, this is part of their meal share program to provide a meal to a youth in need. It is a great way to help the community and I wished more restaurants were able to participate in similar activities. The plantain chips were crunchy, slightly sweet and slightly salty. Service was good. Our server checked up on us regularly to clear plates. Parking can be challenging as the area is busy. There is limited free residential parking if you are willing to drive around to find a spot.

Etienne M.

Yelp
I found they had very limited options on their menu. But what I think what makes this place so special is how welcoming they are to their customers. The food is good, just they had a lot more options. But they are so welcoming that they let you carve on their walls because they want it to be known how many people stop in for a bite!

Yelp
My friend suggested we meet here for lunch, and it was great! It's definitely a solid neighborhood spot. We ate outside at one of the tables next to the street (I'm still most comfortable with outdoor dining) and it was a nice day, so we lucked out. Full umbrella, too, which I appreciated. Medium-busy street, didn't affect our convos or enjoyment. Good people watching. I got fish tacos, and chose corn chips and salsa for my side. (They had salad or fries, too.) I love fish tacos, and these ones were great--flavorful, fresh toppings. Fish is fried, which some people don't like. I'm happy with either. Topped mine with Cholula and some guac. My margarita was tasty, too. (They make theirs shaken with ice.) Hope I get to return someday--would love to try the sandwiches, the mariquitas, and the avocado tostones. The staff are super friendly, too.

Yelp
I liked the ambiance of this bar, but It was very loud. I wasn't really a big fan of the food or the drinks. Its very much fried pub food with minimal options for healthier bites. I ordered the ceviche which was super tiny for $13, and that was a happy hour special. I know everything is a increasingly expensive these days, but it still seems tiny for being a special. It was pretty standard. Their guacamole was decent and came with warm tortilla chips and fried plantain. Most of the dishes came with fried plantain, which I didn't care for. They just taste like a fryer to me. I ordered their Margarita, a double, and it was bland and watery. They spicy Margarita is definitly better. It seems like a rowdy place to hang out with friends so I would suggest it if you are looking for a place to drink some beers.

Rich N.

Yelp
Never again! Over the past 15 years, I have spent thousands of dollars at Havana, albeit mostly before the change in ownership. Today I was discriminated against because of my age. I arrived alone and was promptly seated on the patio. People came and went at other tables while I sat there. Their orders were taken and food delivered to their tables. The wait staff chatted with other customers, amongst themselves as well with people passing by on the street. The table in front of me was vacated and another couple arrived. They were given menus and their orders taken. Then, finally, after sitting there for more than 30 minutes, my order was taken. The couple at the next table received their food, finished it and left. Wait staff repeatedly walked by me but ignored me. I will never patronize Havana again.
google avatar

Scott R.

Yelp
Great patio in the front of the restaurant, Great atmosphere and friendly helpful people working at Havana. We returned several times over the 10 days we were visiting for the great drinks, friendly service and it's just a wonderful place for conversation and people watching. Pineapple Margarita was my favorite.
google avatar

Liz C.

Yelp
We were craving veggies and this place did not disappoint. The bowls were filled with fresh veggies, seasoned well and sauced to perfection. They were filling and I did not feel like it was too much food. I did need to add shrimp for some protein because that's what my body needs. The service was excellent and folks were friendly. I would like to go back again because the drink menu is extensive and impressive.

Yelp
I believe that a great dining experience is more than a menu. So I want to say Kudos to whoever styled and manages Havana! From top to bottom it's a standout. The elevated al fresco dining area, with its rattan lamps glowing, is wonderful. But it doesn't stop there. Every table that we saw has comfortable booths, so is great for groups or couples. There's not a bad seat in the house. The high ceiling is painted turquoise and the ceiling fans help give that Havana vibe. The walls are a festive backdrop of colourful layers of earth tones and etched messages-- like you'd see in Cuba. Loved the brass hanging planters, too. Beautiful colour palette all around, which makes dining there a transporting experience. Food: The Cubans sandwich is awesome. Hot-pressed with melted cheese, ham, and pickles -- everything I expected. The mole fries were great, too. Crispy despite having mole sauce. It's like Cuban poutine. The flan and tres leches cake aren't traditionally made, but their creative take on these classics was quite good! Drinks: We had the passion fruit mojitos and the and The Oaxacan. We'll return for Clarified Mai Tai, Casanova, and others. Nice drink menu! The Waitstaff were all polished, yet warm and friendly. Our dedicated waiter was awesome. I highly recommend Havana for an unpretentious, yet cool and visually appealing experience. Given the popularity of El Santo and Piva in New Westminster, I think Havana would do well in New West, too! Maybe in the waterfront Bosa building that's coming up?

Yelp
Only my second time here! Amazing tasty delicious food brought me back! The Paella was magnificent - supreme & tasty! Full of flavour - the black rice - while I'll admit to at first being hesitant to try it - was super delicious! Believe it or not I'm not a rice fanatic but this rice I could have again!!! The Ceviche could have been marinated a little longer but regardless it was downed in a flash - yummy! It was latter in the afternoon & the place was steady. As plates were being delivered around us it was great to watch the reaction & seeing the joy on peoples faces. I really like the theme & decor of this restaurant - one really does feel like they're in Cuba! Fantastic menu selection & great drinks available! A true gem on the Drive (Commercial Drive - https://thedrive.ca/ ) - the lively, historic, cultural & colourful exciting street outside of downtown Vancouver! And for those asking - no I did not see Castro nor did I smoke a cigar! LOL

Yelp
This place is fantastic! I love their food, their half chicken is yummy, paella is good too, drinks were fun and staff offer great service and awesome vibe altogether! I ALWAYS COME BACK!

Yelp
The place is definitely cool and I love dining inside as well as dining on the awesome patio. The food however is.. meh. It's just not that great but I still keep coming back!

Yelp
My sister told me lots of good things about this place. I never got a chance to try it until very recently. Came here with B. I got the Salmon Gravlax and he got the Chorizo Hash. The Salmon Gravlax was super tasty. Not wow but close. One big issue was that it wasn't filling at all. There were hardly any potatoes to fill me up. There were a few pieces of salmon. I did liked the poach egg though. It was cooked perfect. My sister said the portion here used to be huge. However, just a year ago they changed management and so everything has changed. This included the menu and of course the portion size. B said his Chorizo Hash was super yummy. I can tell by how fast he ate his lunch. The place wasn't super back when we arrived but again it was like almost 2 pm. I will still come back. I do like their food.

Yelp
If it wasn't for the Sangria and decent dinner items, this place probably would be average at best. It has gone downhill. The 2 stars is because of the service. We had a huge group and it took us a while to get everyone organized to finally order. Our server was extremely patient, helpful, and friendly. Now on to the food.... Cuban Skillet: First time having it. Didn't know what to expect. It came with a sausage, two poached eggs, some watery white stuff which I assume was supposed to be the pablano sauce, and white beans. The skillet aspect of it is pointless to be honest. It served no purpose in terms of cooking it. Would have been the same taste in a bowl. On the menu it also said it comes with tostones. They were no where to be seen. Unless the crumbs in my photo were supposed to be them. Overall this wasn't flavourful at all. Well, I guess the sausage had a saltiness to it. That's flavour... Tres Leches French Toast: My goodness this was not executed well. They need to rethink the whole torched meringue part; considering all of it was just melted whipped cream. The worst part is that it couldn't even moisten the Banana Bread they use as the toast. Even if they advertised this as just "Banana Bread with whipped cream and peaches," it would not be a good dish. Would I come back? Probably for dinner.

Yelp
Came here last night with a couple of friends, it's been awhile since I been to Havanas. They don't disappoint, tried some new thing to me on the menu, love there happy hour. Our server made our night, best service in a long time. Staff was very helpful, can't wait to be back.

Yelp
All food delicious but more than that I met most pleasant friendly server in Vancouver. My friend had no clue about latino/Cuban dishes. So she asked the server's recommendation. We began talking about our diet and the server lady explained all main dishes characters. So impressive. And it was weekday night and middle of dinner time, snowing started. Maybe slow night for them. But because of that, they seemed to take care of customers more than usual. Glad we made it.

Yelp
Great food and gracious host at Havana. The business partners visited Havana and wanted to bring that atmosphere back to Vancouver. And they did. Started with appys avocado tostones and croquettes. The grilled cauliflower and coconut mussels were nice (no photo, went too fast), but the clear winners were the achiote-marinated half chicken and grill octopus. Every plate was presented aesthetically and the taste goes so deep into the succulent food. I liked them all but the octopus sure stood out. Marinated ahead of time and slow cooked, giving it a penetrating full flavour. The texture was just bouncy enough without being chewy or overcooked. The biggest surprise is probably the 60-seat theatre tucked to the side of the renovated back area (where we were seated), used for anything like improv, plays, or just an office party. (Office meeting sounds too stiff, doesn't it?) Can't wait till it warms up so that I can sip up a sangria or a mojito at their patio!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our visit here. Service was mediocre but the food was AMAZINGG ! We ordered the Ceviche, Mussels España, and Commercial Club. The chicken in the Commercial Club was tender, thick and juicy! Everything about this dish was extra buttery and delicious. The ceviche came with plantain and is not the average traditional order you'd get from seafood restaurants. Definitely had a Cuban/Latin American fusion. The Mussels were also fabulous. A little spicy but very flavourful. They gave us a bottle of hot sauce but the dishes were spiced and flavour well enough that we didn't need the extra condiment! Their decor and ambiance were also get aesthetically pleasing.

Yelp
Good food and good people. Great location too. Get the Tostones. They're amazing.

Yelp
Came here for my sister's birthday after attending a Yelp Elite event last month! I was so impressed with how they renovated the place and re-vamped the menu. I wasn't able to make a reservation online for 7 people but I called and a manager told me that they would be able to seat us easily. Please note I called about 2.5 weeks in advance. We were seated immediately (woohoo, I LOVE not waiting!) and our server asked us if we wanted to order some drinks. I recommended the mojitos and margaritas because I thought they were so delicious when we sampled them at the Yelp Event! Perfect if you're in the mood for something bright and refreshing without too much boozy-ness. Take a look at some of the photos I took of the appies we shared! My favourites were the midnight snack croquettes (that sauce...YUM), the roasted cauliflower (yummy spicy kick) and the tostones which were these little bites of twice fried plantains packed with flavour! I also recommend getting a side of their plantain chips.... which serve as the perfect scooping method for the aioli sauce it comes with (is it obvious that i'm a sauce-y kind of girl?). Can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy pitchers of sangria and more appies on the patio!

Yelp
So many of my Yelp pals have positively reviewed Havana that I determined it was high time to get in on the secret. The restaurant is beautiful, warm, and inviting without being too fussy. Service was 5+ stars in the way that they managed that delicate balance of being attentive without hovering. Our water glasses never went dry, and all food came out in short order. We started with the cheesy corn and poblano dip, served with lightly fried bread sticks (not too greasy) and tostones (fried plantains). This was the hit of the meal for me. That dip--magically more-ish, with the right balance of cheese and poblano flavors. And those bread sticks--so soft and light. I implore you to get the dip! The shrimp tacos, accompanied with shredded cabbage and avocado crema were tasty, but quite heavy on the cabbage filler. I'm all for veggies, but the ratio of the ingredients seemed a bit out of balance, and the shrimps kind of got lost. Overall the menu seems to be a modern hybrid take on Cuban-inspired dishes, rather than purist old guard Cuban staples so expect to find ingredients like shrimp, pork, and coconut alongside Spanish paella and patatas bravas, and Peruvian ceviche.

Yelp
I always hear the ads on the radio so thought I'd check it out! I like what they did with the place and the music. For the place, portion and flavour I felt that the prices are too high. I wasn't able to make a reservation for after 5pm on Open Table so I thought it would be packed. I went on a Saturday around 5pm and stayed there til about 7pm. It was really quiet. Ordered the ceviche which I did not like and ended up eating the plantain chips alone. The avocado tostones were delicious, I wish there were at least 6 pieces though. To drink I had a couple of jungle birds and was completely sober...not worth $14 each! Service was okay; overall nothing terrible about the place but nothing stood out to me (besides the interior).

Yelp
Loved the food and drinks here! The tacos were so good and the staff were so nice. Definitely can't wait to come back here again soon!

Yelp
*Still singing* Havana, na, na, na.... Upgrading this spot to 5 stars because it's quickly become one of my favourite hang out spots over the last year. Havana was bought out and renovated by different owners and they turned this place around. Not that it was bad before, but I love this spot even more post-renovation. This is one of my go-to spots on Commercial for brunch, happy hour, and dinner. Why? Their 5-star service and delicious bites. The service has always been top tier and above and beyond everytime I've come in. Special shout out to Greg, John, and Esther, who've always treated us like rockstars everytime I've come in. Must get brunch bites: + Cuban skillet + Croque Señora + Tres Leches French Toast (to die for!!!) + Little Havana Brunch Bowl + Havana Spiced Salmon Gravlax Hash Honestly, I've tried almost everything from their brunch menu and have loved all of them. You can't really go wrong with any of them. Must get happy hour/dinner bites: + Midnight Snack Croquettes + Mussels Espana + Cubano + Latin Burger + Paella Negra + Coconut Curry For happy hour they have $2 off cocktails, $5 wine/beer, and $5 mojitos. They have tacos on special as well. During the summer this is the perfect spot to enjoy bites and drinks on the patio and during the winter, this is a great, dark, cozy spot to again enjoy bites and drinks. Would highly recommend Havana!

Yelp
Maybe the only game in town now for Cuban, even if only a fusion version. The environment is festive, the service was friendly and excellent. Food was quite tasty in its own fusion way. Cuban drink preparation, presentation, and taste was not top notch authentic Cuban and slightly disappointing, but the overall drink selection was good and some drinks like their version of pisco sour were quite nice. One bummer was that some of their chips and fries were over seasoned. It is also a little pricey. Solid option for casual happy hour.

Yelp
So I've had good experiences at this restaurant before, as I've discussed but thought I'd update my review since I was able to come back and it's been a long time! It just so happens that our latest International supper club came here for Cuban night. This was an awesome choice. Our appies were so delicious. We had the plantain chips, bean dip, truffle fries, and cornbread! Everyone was stuffed because we could not stop eating. It was that good. Great choices, I'm craving everything right now. Me and my companion also had a pitcher of Mojitos...c'mon you can't go wrong with pitchers here. They always taste great! For dinner we ordered tuna tacos which were refreshing and tasted great. We didn't get any dessert because we were just too full! The ambiance is very casual with art on the walls. It's really good for a casual get together to enjoy some good food. Our waiter...I feel so bad for forgetting his name...Greg?...was awesome. Such a friendly guy who is on the ball. I hope I can visit sooner this place again soon!

Yelp
Having eaten Cubanos many times at both Havana and in Miami, I can state emphatically that my latest experience at Havana was disappointing to say the least. A sandwich made of ham, pickles, and stale bread does not a Cubano make. Adding a side of triple cooked fries that are cooked only once only leveraged the dissatisfaction. I fondly remember when Havana took some pride in quality food that soundly represented its original counterparts. Sadly, those days seem to be gone.

Yelp
While I haven't eaten here per se, I've been here a few times for the Havana Theatre in the back. Yes, there's a hidden theatre in the back of this place. They host a random assortment of events, but mostly of comedy and improv. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as on Commercial (metered until 2200). The theatre has a nice waiting room with local artwork for sale. Pretty neat to check out while waiting for the show to start. There is also a bar. Keep in mind that alcoholic beverages aren't allowed inside the theatre itself for some reason. My friends and I had to down our pitcher of sangria.

Yelp
I had read n heard alot about this place so i was looking forward ti check it out. Had to pick any other restaurant once as there was a big line up. They have in built theatre so the show days are too busy for the restaurant Finally we went on a sunny weekend for dinner around 8. Patio was all full as always so we ended up sitting inside . Inside is like an old fashioned house un even plastered walls with pictures of family n friends( maybe restaurant people) Couldnot eat much as appetite was low. (Reason to go back again) we had corn bread with chilli butter which should be taken with a soup or stew. Squash salad was good too. Serving portion of squash salad was small n i dont like salad served in a plate. How could they be tossed n mixed.?? It was good otherwise

Yelp
Loved this place. They have a small theatre at the back and we went to see a play there. It seems strange to have a theatre at the back of a restaurant, but it works. We had dinner before the play. The place was packed and had such a great vibe to it. The food was very good and the servers friendly.

Yelp
5/5 ambiance 3/5 value 5/5 service 3/5 food offerings + Been to Havana a number of times. Found the place/dining concept to be overall with lots of thought and effort. Ambiance of the place seems authentic if you can call Cuban culture, a mish mash of Americana and old colonialism stabbed by the knife of communism, authentic. I find it interesting at least. They are trying..... Service is stellar. Rarely were there any lost artists working there. Never had to deal with the servers' baggage or tiptoe around their moods like one has to at so many other joints on the Drive. We get it, the Drive is a place of failed/starving artists waiting for their break; meanwhile they have to put up working for peanuts and serve peasants. "Just wait until I am famous!!!!", silently cries the Drive worker. I digress. Service at Havana is awesome in comparison to the average. - Food offerings are kind of lost to me. Perhaps due to unfamiliarity of the culture? Can't understand the common theme in the food offerings. Again perhaps it is a mis mash of cultures, but overall, good presentation and tasty ingredients. It is on the pricey side of things if you factor in the novelty, then it may just be well worth it.
