Family-run and spacious, this 2023 addition revived the former Golden Palace space with all-day dim sum and banquet fare. Highlighted on KHON2’s Living808, where the owners shared signatures like crispy char siu bao and siu mai.

It was a quiet evening in restaurant. Service was great. Shrimp dumplings were delicious as was beef in black bean sauce. Also ordered scallops with broccoli It was a little fishy. Enough food for another meal😊

Came here for the first time since they renovated and switched owners. This used to be my all time favorite until it became dirty and staff were filthy when serving our dim sums so we left and found our new favorite, Fook Lam. I ordered takeout and my usual favorites which are Siu Mai (pork hash) and Seafood Bundle in Bean Curd (seafood roll). They were both super delicious and juicy and the seafood roll was larger and packed with flavor. We also ordered chicken feet, shrimp dumplings, mini char siu manapuas, crispy char siu manapuas, fried bread sticks (Chinese fried donuts), steamed dumplings, pork spareribs, and beef look funn. Overall, cheaper than Fook Lam, food and portions is just as good sooooo I think I found my new favorite lol. We ordered takeout so we didn’t get the dining experience. The staff were friendly and fast. Paid parking is limited and located in the back of the restaurant on Nimitz Hwy. Lots of tables to dine on.

Located in Chinatown, next to the famous Lee’s bakery that people will go to get pumpkin pies in the fall. Service is as expected in a Chinese restaurant. They ask how many people are in your group, sit down, and they ask what kind of tea do you want to drink. They give you an order sheet and a menu that contains pictures of each dim sum so you don’t mess up ordering. Food comes out pretty quick. Tastes just as a typical dim sum restaurant you find here. I do recommend getting the fried dough stick wrapped in cheong fun. They also give you a pour bottle of the sweet soy sauce so you can pour as much as you want. There is a paid parking lot behind the restaurant, but it does get busy.

Food and service were excellent. Came here for dinner. They can make all the steamed dimsum dishes. However not everything was available. If you want the full dimsum menu, must go before 330pm. Food wasn’t too salty or (too sweet)! We loved everything we got! Service was great. Staff was friendly and very attentive! Reasonably priced!

Having dim sum in Honolulu is nice. The price is really good comparing to San Francisco. And the shrimp dumplings are huge. The Xiao Long Bao was very large but again a little saltier than normal. The vegetables were a little salty so if you ask not to add salt that will improve the food flavor….

Great food, dim sum is delicious, only served til330p but can order some steamed items after that. Orange chicken had an amazing crispness even though its coated in the sauce, beef broccoli seasoned really well and broccoli perfectly crisp but cooked.

This place is real dim sum. We loved everything we ordered except the pork buns (the other items were shrimp dumpling, siu mai, xiao long bao and hot and sour soup). Note that they stop doing fried dim sum at 3:30 but they still have the steamed items. We’d come back here!

Came here on Easter Sunday, on a whim while shopping Ctown for supplies. It was crowded as expected but we were able to get a table. Service was super slow for us (maybe cause there was only 2 of us?) and we waited a long time to get our orders in. Then waited another long time for our dim sum to arrive. I miss the days the cart would come as we could get all our food at the same time. They brought us basket after basket, staggered. I personally found that annoying and wanted to eat everything at the same time. We had steamed scallop look funn which was ok. The shrimp dumpling with chive was excellent and decent portion. We ordered 2 of those. My mr ordered 2 of siu mai and must've like it! The soup dumpling had just a tad of soup but came out nice and hot. Would I come here again? Maybe, on a weekday. It was also super loud which is understandable with so many families celebrating, just too loud for my liking.

Yelp
Food was slow to be served and waitress seemed confused as to what was ordered. Was also too expensive for the experience

Yelp
Parking: Street parking or nearby paid lot. Closest one would be Maunakea Marketplace. Service: Ordering done on a paper sheet, inputing the number of dishes next to each item. Ambiance: Local bustling Chinese/Dim Sum spot Food: Typical dim sum offerings, all pretty solid.

Yelp
Hawaii Dim Sum is one of those places that the locals go - you look around and know it's legit. Get here a little early, as it fills up by lunchtime. Servers are brisk and all business, so don't be shame about asking for something you need. You'll get hot tea by default, but make sure you ask for a glass of water. We've been trying dim sum around the island, and Hawaii Dim Sum kills it when it comes to quality and price. It's a little on the higher side of prices, but we rarely felt that it wasn't worth it. Been here twice now, so a bit of a list: - Shrimp Dumpling ($5.95/3p) - Incredulous that other reviews call this mid. Huge dumplings, stuffed with at least 3 shrimps, hot and tasty. We usually end up getting two. - Siu Mai ($5.95/4p) - Substantial and mixed with mushrooms and water chestnut. Strong flavors that don't disappoint. - Home style half moon ($5.95/3p) - One of my favorites, stuffed with a mix of pork and vegetables. Super savory, umami flavor that makes me want more. - Pan Fried Turnip Cake ($5.95/3p) - Crispy outside and soft interior with a flaky texture. Not my personal favorite item, wouldn't get it again for myself. - Baked Egg Custard Bun ($5.95/3p) - This surprised me - it's a puffy sweet egg custard bun, caked with a crispy cookie crust. It can take a while to prepare, which works out if they bring it at the end of the meal. - Fried Shrimp Ball ($7.35/3p) - Have you seen this one on culinary class wars? Deep fried shrimp dumpling goodness with crazy hair. Love the crispy noodle texture. - Crispy Seaweed Roll ($7.35/3p) - It's like those nori tempura chips on steroids - wrapped around a whole shrimp and deep fried. Don't shy away from the sweet mayo it's served with either. - Beef Tendon in Curry ($7.35) - I usually love tendon. That said, this wasn't for me. It's served hot, giving the tendon a softer, squishy mouthfeel. The curry is strong and spicy. Altogether I had a hard time finishing off the serving. - Shrimp Look Funn ($9.45/9p) - Soft, pillowy rice noodles stuffed with whole shrimps. I think the har gao is superior, but the SO goes nuts for this one. Make sure you drizzle some shoyu on top. I took a friend here who said he would bring his Chinese mother here. That's all I needed to know to confirm the good time we had.

Yelp
Used to frequent this place when I was working in town so hadn't been here in a while since it's so hard to find parking in Chinatown. Went next door to Lee's Bakery and decided to come here to pick up dim sum for lunch. Ordered a set of Steamed Chicken Manapua, Steamed BBQ Pork Bun and 2 orders of Siu Mai. I guess I'm used to larger Manapua when I buy it from other places...theirs were like half the size with so little filling. Didn't care for the taste of the Manapua and the Siu Mai tasted rubbery so didn't enjoy the food at all. Don't remember it being this bad...very disappointing...

Yelp
We wanted to try a new (to us) dim sum place and landed here. We ordered 8 things and tried to hit all our 'usuals' to compare. For the most part, we found the items average - they were fine, but not particularly memorable or better than we get elsewhere. I'd apply this to their har gao, siu mai, sticky rice, and spare ribs. Unique here were the curry tendon and Malaysian sponge cake, though I wouldn't get either again. The best items were the steamed char siu buns, which were at least on par with some of the best we've had elsewhere, and the wet beancure wraps!! These were the best on island!! Without these, I may not have returned here, but some of the other entree dishes (like green beans) looked pretty good so we'll give this place a second shot. Prices reasonable for Honolulu dim sum. Parking was easy in the back - if you arrive after 1pm on the weekend it's a flat $5 and then you can just poke around Chinatown afterwards.

Yelp
Came here with my big family group, and they sat us upstairs. Lots of smaller tables downstairs for small parties. You'll have to take the elevator outside the main floor, up to the second floor where they seem to have larger tables and a back room for parties. They have a karaoke machine upstairs if you're lookin to have a PARTY party! The location is in Chinatown so parking is as expected. We parked at a nearby relatives apartment and walked over. Another given is the cleanliness of the area. Restaurant itself I'd say is relatively clean, elevator--not so much. I'm not entirely sure if there's two kitchens that bring out food on each floor, or how they supply both floors with food. Food was pretty good for dim sum, biggest thing i noticed was that the ha gow were HUGE! Biggest I've seen in my life! It was loaded with shrimp!!! Siu Mai, look fun, shrimp and chive dumplings were all good! Char siu bao was surprisingly good. Bun was light, not too thick and the fillings were all tender (not too much fat). We did try the xiao long bao (just to see), and I was underwhelmed. Understandably it's hard to perfect soup dumplings when you have a whole variety of a menu and they're not your specialty. Definitely would come back but parking is a big factor for me so likely won't be my top choice.

Yelp
Came to Chinatown for dim sum. Service was friendly and efficient. We were given our pot of jasmine tea as soon as we sat down. Love their wide selection of items. The portions were also quite large for two people we ordered 8 portions and the charsui pork. The dumpling wrappings could be a bit thinner. But overall was good. We had quite a bit leftover and enjoyed it for dinner the next day. Fairly busy for a Saturday for lunch.

Yelp
Food was okay. Some dim sum were good. Their beef brisket tendon were tough, chewy and undercooked. Their noodles were chewy as well. Service was good. Restaurant atmosphere was nice.

Yelp
This restaurant used to be called Golden palace, I've been going here since I was a little girl and I remember that I loved coming here with my family and enjoying great dim sum, the best I've actually had growing up. I recently dined in and we had a large party, as we were celebrating a family member graduating and he wanted dim sum, upon checking in we were seated on the 2nd floor and we never have been before. When we were being guided to the elevator, my other half was told not to get in, wondering why I decided to step out and wait with him, we never asked why but knew that it was due to his weight, there is a capacity sign and weight limit posted but super disappointed on how he handled this situation, my other half and I are very aware on how big we are and can make light of this as we joke ourselves but some part of this came off very rude and many would be very verbal about this. When being seated, we were put in the far corner, near an empty kitchen? so the seating was a bit tight, when ordering we were not served waters and we got our food before the waters and asked twice before getting the food. The quality of food is still very good, and I would come back for just the food which is why I rated 3 stars but the customer service was disappointing and hope they find a better way of communicating professionally with the elevator situation.

Yelp
Service was great. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. Staff was very accommodating finding a table that would fit our stroller. But the place was pretty empty in the middle of the day on a weekday. So that definitely made it easier. I understand that this place is also in China Town so expectations on ambiance weren't high. Looks like any run of the mill dim sum place with lots of tables and not much space. Wife wanted Bao so this is why we ended up here however not impressed with the Bao. I ordered the egg drop soup... disappointing that they add peas to their egg drop soup. A no-go for me. The pork hash, shrimp balls, long noodle with shrimp and half moon were good was good as expected. So issues there. All in all, decent place. Not my favorite but not the worst I've ever been to. They are pretty much in the middle somewhere. Hope this helps.

Yelp
Great Chinese spot in Chinatown! There's a large dining area with lots of tables. Servers are friendly, helpful, and attentive. I noticed every server walked briskly the entire night, even the older ones! The restaurant was basically at max capacity, but they had it under control and with a positive attitude. This is the type of place I enjoy eating at. Throughout the night, at least 5 different servers brought food, hot mustard, fresh pots of tea, extra napkins, refilled water, etc. Price is reasonable. Food is served hot (be careful steamed bean curd is molten hot, yum). Everything is really tasty, not oily or salty! Also, I'm sensitive to msg, and no msg reaction after the meal. Awesome! Order for 4 people: Steamed Fish Fillet w/ Ginger & Scallion $20 Fried Rice w/ Salted Fish & Chicken $18 Peking Duck $29 Steamed Bean Curd $6.85 x 2 House Crispy Noodles w/ Seafood $20 Coconut Jin Doi $2 ea (no pic) Coconut Gau $7.50 (no pic) Just enough extra food for 3 small takeout boxes. Nice! I could easily go back for the fish fillet and fried rice (also the bean curd and Peking duck), but I'll be ordering other items so I can try more of their extensive menu! Give this spot a visit and you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Yelp
We were visiting Oahu for a few days and were looking for late lunch spot. We found this place thru Yelp. Because other dim sum places were further away and closing, we decided to give them a try despite the 4.3 stars which to me is inaccurate. It's a banquet style restaurant which means it was spacious and has your typical Chinese restaurant decors. I despise going to dim sum in the Mainland bcs it's expensive and doesn't taste fresh. It's complete opposite here. Best dim sum you'll ever have. You pick your dishes by checking the paper and handing it to your waitress. No carts coming around. It took a few minutes for our hot dishes to arrive. I mean temperature wise hot. So hot I can only chew portions of the shu mai. We got there a little late around 2ish so some items weren't available. We had fried rice which was good. Light and flavorful, not greasy at all. The chow fun was meh. Overall dim sum was so good we went back another day. The staff was pretty nice. My only recommendation would be to constantly watch what the wait staff checks off bcs some of what we ordered didn't come out bcs they ran out but it was still marked on our order sheet. The order sheet is what you're charged for. I'm happy I found my local spot on my next visit. Restroom was clean too! Thanks Yelpers!

Yelp
Attended a Christmas party here on the second floor and really enjoyed eating here. We didn't have dim sum but we had a 7 course meal with two desserts! We had dishes of Ginger chicken, Fried pork, honey walnut shrimp, seafood crispy noodles, Spicy Green beans, Char Siu/Duck/Roast Pork dish, Some kind of steamed bun w pork and veggies, Custard buns and Tapioca. All of the food was good, bathrooms were easily upstairs and nice and clean. Great place for a private large party, we had the entire upstairs to ourselves, our group had 13 tables! The food all came out quickly and everything tasted good. I would like to come back to try the dim sum downstairs one day.

Yelp
Good food and service!! Got here at 12:30 for lunch and originally came here for the crispy BBQ pork bun. Unfortunately, they were out of it and they brought a substitute baked BBQ pork bun. We decided not to try the baked since we were really looking forward to the crispy bun. The other dishes were very flavorful and it came out fairly fast and hot. When you come in, they give you a menu and a paper with a list of dim sum to order. You just have to put how much of each dim sum you want to order and give that paper to the server. We will definitely be back and go earlier to try the crispy BBQ pork bun

Yelp
My mouth is watering writing this review, LOL. Get ready for the kanak attack after eating here xD Seriously though, this place has some of the BEST dim sum on da island!! My family and I love coming here for lunch on Sundays. After our previous favorite place at Ala Moana closed down years ago, we've been looking for a replacement Dim Sum restaurant that had our beloved crispy seaweed rolls. Alas, my dad came across Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant and we've only been coming here since. We've ordered here for casual lunches to catering for holiday parties and this establishment has consistently served us amazing food. Everything tastes so fresh and flavorful (not overly salty either). My favorites are the siumai and the char siu bao, yummm. Service is quick and staff are very hardworking. The inside is quite large with high ceilings and the aroma of the food hits you right when you open their doors~ There was no wait when we arrived around noon, and we've never had to wait in the past either. The parking lot entrance is on Nimitz, and it's valet only. Definitely come here for your dim sum fix!

Yelp
Meeting for some dim sum... If you ever need a place for a function many times Chinese restaurant is a great option as they have tables which allows to fit larger groups and Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant provides exactly that. I'm not as familiar of what formerly stood at this location prior to like many others but know that it has been well updated considering the dated building itself, we didn't dine on the ground floor of the restaurant but the second floor where their large banquet room is located which is impressively spacious, to access it you need to take the elevator which a staff was already standing by as we arrived since you're only able to enter by a key card. From what I expected to be a simple lunch turned to a feast of various dishes including roast chicken, steamed fish, pork hash with shrimp, walnut shrimp, mushrooms and bok chow, shrimp fried rice, seafood pumpkin soup to name just a few though many were items I can't have there was more than enough for me to enjoy which was very tasty. The staff was very on top of it all including keeping the hot tea coming and boxes to take the left over home I was just impressed of how they catered us and yes there was bathroom available as well which was clean and newly renovated making the whole function very comfortable. Thank you!

Shaun C.

Yelp
So so. Pork hash had too many hard soft tissues you can't swallow. The place is convenient.

Yelp
I can only say for lunch dim sum here. It's great. Solid choice if you're in Chinatown and within the wait. The food came out fresh. What's meant to be hot was hot, what's meant to be crispy was crispy! The two of us ordered 9 dim sums... can't help it since it's our first time here lol. They had a bunch of tofu skin stuff that weren't found in other dim sum places we've been too. Their mochi sesame ball had coconut in it instead of just the red bean option. The fried shrimp ball was so good. Braised chicken feet were soft with lots of flavor. Great service too. Plenty of seating. Reasonable prices. Would come back again if we were in Chinatown and feeling dim sum.

Yelp
Love this place! My family loves it too. Service is great. Parking in the back. $1/hr. I recommend the salt and pepper lobster and steamed fish. My husband loves #68 pepper beef. Tender and beefy chunks comes out sizzling and the sauce is so good on the sweet Maui onions and belt pepper. Green beans have dried salted shrimp and salted fish. So good. We ordered it spicy. My mom loves their cold ginger chicken. She says she can tell the use fresh free range chicken, not the frozen kind or the kind pumped with water.

Yelp
Went here twice during my recent visit to the islands! Sooo happy to be recommended this from my sister's bf's mom as I was sad when I heard my fav dim sum spot closed in Chinatown a couple of years ago. The waitresses were nice, the food came out quickly and it seemed to be popular with my circle because I kept seeing people I knew there - or is the island REALLY just that small ??? Anyway, I loved the food, they had all of my favorites most especially fu pei!

Yelp
Food was amazing! Great portions and very yummy. Had a lot of options. Service was quick and very friendly. Ambiance is what you expect of a dim sum place. Big large tables, hot tea, good silverware. Only thing was there was a bird in the kitchen, which the staff caught and released outside. Outside of that great place for dim sum. Go early as it gets busy!

Yelp
First time trying this restaurant that I had saved in my Yelp collection. We parked at Marin Tower as we weren't sure the street meters took card since we didn't bring coins. Lots of road work being done for the rail so we circled the block a couple times to get to the parking structure entrance. What I liked about this place: *Pretty full at 11 a.m.with people constantly filling a table that another party just vacated. *Buzzing lively conversations in their ethnic tongue by customers, loved how it added to the atmosphere. * The chairs are dressed up like wedding banquets of yesteryear, richly bold red in color and well maintained. *Many workers and one man asked if we'd been helped. He took our penciled list of checked choices and brought the first two items super fast. He brought most of our items to us telling us the name of the dish he put before us. *Tea and iced water is brought immediately to the table. *The gin dui came out hot, round and so delicious looking. The same man went around tables if they were interested in freshly made coconut or black. *The portions are good sized so much food that we had left overs to take home of everything. Other: *Not sure what flavor tea was brought out. It didn't taste like jasmine but it was complimentary. *I miss old fashioned Coleman's mustard. They had soy sauce and a red paste container on the table. A sauce came out with the look fun. *My memories of dim sum of the past like a half century ago and my tastebuds wanted more flavor for the look fun but hubs enjoyed his share. *Taro cake- never tried it prepared like that but it was interesting. The servers are very attentive and efficient. You are never left wanting.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food, and the selection was awesome. The wait was too long for our food. It was busy, but the other tables that came after us were served their food quickly. We had to remind the staff they we were waiting for the remainder of our food :(

Yelp
TLDR: Solid, classic dim sum institution in Chinatown. We were able to get a table on a Monday afternoon no problem during the holidays. Almost everything we ordered was super delicious and the service was speedy. Highly recommend the Steamed Bean Curd Roll, the Shrimp Dumpling w/ Chives, and the Fried Shrimp Ball. ------ FOOD: Everything tasted classic and I'd order the following items again: Shrimp Dumpling, Siu Mai, Steamed Bean Curd Roll, Shrimp Dumpling w/ Chive, Fried Shrimp Ball. The last three were all excellent, and I don't think I've had a fried shrimp ball anywhere else before. It was perfectly fried and the creamy sauce that came with it perfectly balanced things out. I'd skip the spring roll next time -- there was a starch of some sort in them that I couldn't quite put a finger on but I'm so unused to spring rolls having a starchy food in them that I just couldn't get past it. The spring roll wrapper was also thicker than my personal preference. ------ SERVICE: * Fast, efficient, few words, exactly what you would expect from a classic dim sum institution. * I had bought some items from the nearby Sing Cheong Yuan Bakery and I had no problem eating them at lunch with the dim sum we ordered from here ------ ENVIRONMENT / AMBIANCE: * Front door isn't the most obvious here, but look for a wall of wooden panels and you'll find the door you're looking for. * Inside is a large dining area with large and small tables. You'll get seated and order at your table, but there's also an area near the back of the restaurant with fresh containers of dimsum that you can pick and choose from as well. The back of the restaurant is also where you pay the bill at the end of the meal

Yelp
Super tasty dim sum. This place is located on N King St, and the restaurant itself is easily identifiable from the outside with red pillars encircled by gold dragons. Arrived here on Sunday at around 12pm or so, and it was lively and bustling. We were initially told by a server that we'd have to wait 10-15 minutes for a table (despite there being some empty tables), but his female colleague came by and seated us anyways lol. The restaurant is decorated traditionally, and service in general was very attentive. We got the shrimp har gow, shrimp and chive dumplings, steamed chicken feet, and egg tarts. Everything came out promptly and was delicious! The dumplings were all very generously-sized and were hot and fresh. The steamed chicken feet was tender and flavorful, and the egg tarts weren't too sweet (which is perfect for me). Need to come back here every so often for dim sum.

Yelp
If you're looking for tradition dim sum with carts this ain't the place but don't let stop you! Walked right in for lunch on a week day and no wait. Probably ordered too much food but that's ok. This place has the best har gow I ever had! The wrapper actually stuck to the 3 large shrimp and didn't slide off after the first bite (did I mention they were huge?!) Shu mai was delicious as was the seafood wrap. Downside - no rice cakes and the lo bak gao was kind of boring. I'd probably come back considering that this is also a pretty clean place for being in the heart of Chinatown.

Yelp
I feel like this place has been around for ages with name changes, fires, renovations and simply just authentic Chinese food. This restaurant brings back so many memories of thirty years ago when this place was "the to go" place when it was so busy and bustling with energy. Now this place seems smaller, dated and in need of an interior renovation. At first entrance the smell of old furnishings and surroundings hit you. However, just focus on the food. We ordered probably over ten dishes. First impression was the portion sizes being larger than the average. The various dumplings came filled and substantial..nothing delicate there. The green onion pancake tasted pre frozen and very hard. The cake noodles were crispy but the bean sprouts had a weird old smell. Everything tasted just okay. I feel like the ambiance affected the taste and smell of our food. The bill came and it was much cheaper than the other dim sum places we have dined at. I feel like we should support old relics like these restaurants. However, I think this place does need a facelift and a heavy scrub down. If you are looking for cheaper, fresh dim sum then this place is for you!

Yelp
Losing Golden Palace in Chinatown is like the end of an era--the last of the old guard. But to be honest and sad to say, it was time. Now let's welcome Hawaii Dim Sum and Seafood Restaurant who has taken over the space! I haven't been hearing positive things about this place, but after trying it, I don't agree at all. First impression, Hawaii Dim Sum and Seafood Restaurant did an AMAZING JOB in remodeling and improving the space that was Golden Palace. The space is so much more open now. The ceiling looks to have been replaced and raised with new lighting. The floor looks the same, but at least it's very clean. Added a new bar. And the biggest improvement is the addition of new restrooms!! Thank goodness! If you've used the restrooms before this, you should know what I'm talking about. Everything is clean and improved that still keeps the traditional Chinese restaurant feel and vibe that only a couple of restaurants still have. It was defintely nice to see a few familiar faces that were from Golden Palace that stayed and joined the Hawaii Dim Sum and Seafood team. Also recognized a few other people from other restaurants as well. Dim sum is the usuals. Prices are on par with everywhere else. Remember when Golden Palace had the cheapest dim sum at $1.89??? Their regular menu is quite an expansive with several unique items that you don't see elsewhere, such as Pork Knuckle with Sand Ginger, Whole Steamed Wintermelon Soup, and Dong Po Rou. The last time I've seen this dish offered anywhere was at the Shanghai restaurant at Aloha Tower. I'll try this next time! Started with the Beef Tendon in Curry Sauce. The tendons were tender with the right amount of bite. It was on the light side for me, and needed a bit more curry sauce. The Chicken Feet were huge! And that's what I like to see. They were tender, fall off the bone, tasty and flavorful with a mix of garlicky and savory. The one thing that always just ruins the Steamed Beef Balls for me was the bite of Chinese parsley/cilantro (yes, not a fan in only Chinese cooking for some reason), and the ones here were quite visible. I was a little apprehensive, but I'll still eat it, of course, and wow, these were quite delicious. The beef was prepared very well--perfect firmness, flavorful, juicy, and had the correct amount of green onion, cilantro, and water chestnuts, which I find many restaurants not including. And the bean curd underneath soaking up all the juices is always welcomed. Steamed Shrimp Dumplings. Wow, these were so good! Huge, plump, crunchy, tasty, garlicky, and delicious shrimp in a very well prepared, translucent wrapper skin. I enjoyed the Crispy Seaweed Roll. Nice, big pieces. Tasty and full of flavorful filling with chunks of seafood. The Plain Look Funn is very good. Made to order as we added green onion and Chinese parsley (that was acceptable for me). Very well prepared--thin and rolled nicely with excellent texture and consistency. Lastly, the House Special Chow Mein was excellent and spot on. The thin chow mein was fried to a nice crisp. The sauce was flavorful,l with a nice variety of ingredients on top. The portion was huge! Overall, this was an excellent experience. Recency bias will put Hawaii Dim Sum and Seafood Restaurant straight into my top 2, but I haven't had my favorite place in a VERY long time. But comparing to my recent dim sum experience, this place is by far the best. All the food was very well prepared with solid portions. Prices are a touch high for but not by much, and make up for it with the bigger portions. Service was excellent. Friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was nice. Open and clean with a traditional Chinese restaurant feel. Can't wait to come back and try more things!

Yelp
We came after the Chinese New Year parade. This place is nicely renovated. Much improved from the previous restaurant that was there, Golden Palace, was dingy and poorly kept. They do not have enough wait staff for busy nights. However, many places are struggling with hiring enough staff these days. We had to grab our menus from the counter bc none were given to us. We almost got ourselves water til the lady saw us and told us to sit; she would bring them. She had been running back and forth between where she was situated behind the counter in the back of the restaurant to the front of the restaurant and back. We waited for a while for some to take our orders so we flagged down a server and ordered our meal. Sichuan eggplant 2.5/5. I usually love eggplant, but this one had a mix of young and old eggplant. The younger eggplant's skin was soft and easy to bite through. The older skin was relatively thick and fibrous. It did not have a nice texture. I could easily skin the eggplant myself, so I didn't eat the skin on the older pieces. This dish also lacked proper seasoning. It had 0 spice to it. Bittermelon with beef 5/5. Surprisingly, I loved this one. The bittermelon had great wok hei and was wonderfully seasoned. The pork was tender and flavorful as well. Chicken and salted fish fried rice 3.5/5. This would have been better if they took the time to mince the salted fish pieces more so they weren't in those bigger chunks, and you had to go searching for them in the rice. Leaving me wanting more. Beef chow funn 4/5. It was good. But I wasn't wowed by it. If you want to know what fantastic beef chow funn tastes like, have the one at Lam's Kitchen. This one pales compared to that one. Shrimp with honey walnut 2/5. It wasn't fried well. The batter on it was soft. There were big globs of mayo on it. I would not order this again. Foong jow 3.5/5 super tender. It's probably the most tender chicken feet I have had anywhere. The menu says they stopped serving dim sum at 1530; however, we noticed the table next to us had dim sum, so we inquired, and the guy told us they had. Since we had already put in the rest of our order, we just ordered this dish to try. Half roast duck 4/5. This was good. The duck was moist and flavorful. But after having more than one piece, it gets slightly salty. Salt and pepper pork chop 3.5/5 was nicely fried and tender. But it lacked flavor. Sizzling beef tenderloin with black pepper 5/5 was my favorite of all our dishes. The meat was very tender and flavorful. The aroma it was giving off as it sizzles when it hits the table is mouthwatering. I would come back again.

Yelp
Came here after shopping in Chinatown. Wanted One ton noodle soup & got it! Server @ lunch very friendly& added some dim sum pork hash. Soup on arrival, would have liked hotter in temperature , full of noodles & one tons & chinese greens! Yellow mustard mixed with soy sauce was the Bomb! The red chili was delicious too! 4 pieces of pork hash was ok, but hit the spot, Clean restrooms, for both men & women, looked remodeled and was a nice welcome!Nice to see this Chinese eatery have nicely full dress chairs & glass table tops. Employees polite & friendly, but do try to over sell dim sum. Enjoyed Lunch!

Yelp
Loved this place! Everything came out fresh and fast. The waitress was very nice and told us her favorites, now OUR favorites!!! I wish we had more time to have eaten here more than once. Duck with the Bao bread was my kids favorite. The duck was juicy and tender with the crispy skin. The tripe was cleaned really well and sweet and spicy. The chicken feet were huge, everything came off the bones easy.. I can't wait till next year to come back.

Yelp
Any restaurant that can make Malaysian Steamed Cake the way its supposed to be made gets an automatic 5 star rating! The top dim sum places on island do not offer Malaysian steamed cake!!! Anyway tried a few items- the beef chow fun, chicken bun- but was very tasty! I will be back to try everything else!

Yelp
Three co-workers and I went to get crispy noodles at what used to be Golden Palace on King St. The new owners re-decorated and the place looks very clean and classy now. Haha, we went for crispy noodles like we used to be able to get at New Canton House on Hotel St but three of us chose the House Special with cake noodles ... you choose between seafood and other meats; we all went for seafood. The fourth ordered e-mein with Seafood. It took a while for the food to be prepared ... the e-mein dish came well before the other orders. It was a large serving in a ceramic bowl ... It looked really good. Our House Special came in what looked like glass pie plates. There was way too much gravy so the cake noodles quickly became soggy. Furthermore, the gravy was really watery ... more soup than gravy. There was a generous topping of fish, squid, shrimp and choi sum. I would have enjoyed the dish much more had the gravy been served on the side. Our plates ended up costing almost $27 each; a bit pricey for what we got. We should have ordered noodles to share and dim sum. We heard their har gow is excellent. What did we think? Call me underwhelmed.

Yelp
Party of 7, total $160 for dim sum only. A little on the pricier side. Then again maybe this is the new cost for eating dim sum. Just 5 years ago, for the same amount of food for party of 8, it was just $80 before tip. Parking is in the back, $2 for the first half hour and $1 for every 1/2 hr thereafter. I miss the dim sum carts going thru the restaurant. Our table was by the dim sum area, so I just walked up and pointed to what I wanted. The servers were all nice and friendly. Very prompt in bringing out extra napkins and filling up tea and water. Clean. And the there's a bathroom that was also clean.

Yelp
Went to try out this relatively new dim sum restaurant yesterday at lunch time. The dining area is nicely renovated and clean looking. The dim sum menu was just large enough not to get overwhelmed. The taste was good. The food temperature was warm and some were luke warm. I prefer my dim sum piping hot. The service was helpful and timely and much appreciated in this type of venue.

Yelp
We were looking for a dim sum restaurant in Chinatown on Christmas day, so we came to Chinatown and walked around. Using Yelp we saw that Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant was not only open, but also was packed with a line! They're open during Christmas so that was a +1. While in line, we were given a paper dim sum menu and a pen and marked the items that we wanted to get. The atmosphere was great, with red decor, beautiful overland chandalier/lamps, and clean and well stocked bathrooms. Moderate service (it's a Chinese dim sum place that was busy af), but we got everything but one item we need. While they have gave us tea at the beginning, we asked for water maybe 3-5 times. The food was standard dim sum food. No issues with quality. They prepped a majority (like 8 or 9 items) of the plates in their staging area before brining it to our table with most of the rest of the order coming in one by one later. They did forget one item out of 14. As it was the last item and our party was full, we decided to ask them to take it off the final list and then paid our tab. Pricing wise, it was fair enough where: $5.45 for standard dishes, $6.85 for the "large", and ~$9+ for the "specials". If I ever need dim sum in Chinatown around here, I would return here again!

Yelp
They are super busy. I only bought takeouts a few times. It's ok but not great. Maybe better to dine in.

Yelp
This place is in Chinatown Honolulu, as for "service", it's non-existent, young waiter girl maybe hates her mindless job or having bad day, or maybe she is just a miserable sorry ass, no smile, even when we continuously the k umber for bringing us our ordered foods, still not a peep out of her, no smile. The food is actually very good, the two stars are fir shitty waitress we got!

Yelp
Amazing dim sum and Chinese and Chinatown! Super fresh and delicious baked barbecue pork buns, excellent shrimp dumplings, fat and filling. Mongolian beef, tender, and plentiful eggplant with pork amazing. Green beans and barbecued pork excellent. Vegetable dumpling was good. First time back from California in 15 years and we're glad we did.

Yelp
Golden Palace closed almost a year ago and now we have a nee Chinese restaurant: Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant. I've heard good things about their dinner but I wanted to try their dim sum first. After all they put dim sum in front of seafood in their name so the dim sum must be their forte! First of all most of the dim sum are $5.45 or $6.85, which are a little pricier than I expected. The look fun and jook are close to $10...We tried a few classic dishes and they were just ok, nothing memorable. Chicken feet: the flavor was good but the chicken a little too fat. Fried turnip cake: lacks flavor. They could have used more turnip in the batter. Jook: the flavor of rice was quite light, maybe they prepared the jook with powder instead of rice. I also didn't see any pieces of rice in it. Siu mai: the meat was very dense and lacks flavors. Malaysian cake: best dish of the day. Very fluffy. Delicious! Food was a bit disappointing but the staff was friendly and service was great. It's in Chinatown so parking can be a challenge depends on what day and time you come here.

Yelp
Hawaii Dim Sum & Seafood Restaurant is located in the former Golden Palace in Chinatown. I didn't even know a new place opened in there until my friend mentioned it to me because we were craving dim sum. We parked in a municipal parking and walked there about two blocks down. When we got there about 12pm, it was really crowded so we had to wait about 15 minutes to get seated. Everything on their menu looked so so good, not just their dim sum. We got the house noodle and then ordered some dim sum (way too much then we could eat, but it's okay because we got to try so many things!). They even have soup dumplings! Everything was so so tasty and the noodles were good because I love when Chinese restaurants use the thin noodles. And it had so much toppings. The dim sum is reasonably priced and so tasty too. I want to go back already! I recommend you choose here before you go back to your normal dim sum place! You might end up choosing here as your new "go to". The inside is a little cramped in but it's good because they try to fit as many people in there as they can. And the workers are pretty attentive.

Yelp
Eating Dim Sum at the Chinatown in Oahu, how nostalgia it is. With my Holo bus card, I dragged my hubby, took Bus 20 at Hilton Hawaii Village and arrived Chinatown in 30 minutes. 5 minutes walking distance, we arrived at Hawaii Dim Sum Restaurant. Bus 20 back to Hilton Village is right in front of the restaurant. What a ride. 11am, the restaurant is full. Lucky, it only took us 5 minutes to be seated. We ordered dim sum from the menu and got our food shortly. Some many choices so little time and so limited digestive capacity. Phoenix's feet: Flavorful and tender. Shrimp Dumpling: Big fresh shrimps. Shrimp Look Fun: Big fresh shrimps Pan-fried Turnip Cake: little mushy. Xiao Long Bao: Juicy hot delicious. Empty Heart spinach with garlic: Large portion to be share by 4 people. Tea for two: smooth. Total cost exclude tips: 51 dollars. Welcome to Chinatown. It cures the pain of my prolonged nostalgia.
