One of the best fusion cuisine I've ever tried. Food was well balanced and impressive. Must try "meat platter- a complete package for me" lasaña and the the best "tikka masala and beef brisket".. Staff will really give you idea about what they offer and you will really enjoy it.

Google
Solid option for anyone eating at The Post. The Hawker Chicken Wings were huge and had a great crunchy texture, but could’ve used a little more flavor on top of just the actual spice. The Chicken Tikka Masala main dish was fantastic. Every component was equally great and the overall bite really came together well, especially with the cheddar roti!

Google
Got the lasagna, wings, and cheese “roti” “paratha” Food took over 30 min Wings were fine Lasagna with undercooked carrots and a sweet tomato sauce. There was perhaps a gojujang sauce drizzled on top, but did not taste Korean at all. The picture of the cheese paratha speaks for itself, if I wanted a tortilla sprinkled with 1/4 melted shredded grocery store cheese, I would have stayed home.

The food is uh-mazing. Fresh ingredients, flavorful, rich, spicy, mouth watering. The fusion of their menu items can’t be beat. Do yourself a favor and order everything. You’ll want to try it all. Including the secret menu ;) The service is friendly, fast and genuine, shout-out to Corinna for the most delicious experience of the new year!

Google
This restaurant is located inside the Post, near the back left of the dining area. I ordered from them for the first time this past weekend and was very happy with what I ordered. I was looking for a gluten-free dish (which there aren't very many of despite the numerous restaurants at the Post), so I ended up at Hawker. They offer a good variety of food for people with dietary restrictions, including a couple of vegan dishes. I ended up getting one of their vegan dishes: coconut rice with eggplant and curry sauce. It was delicious. However, I probably would get mild spice instead of medium if I ordered this again. (People who have a high tolerance for spice would probably like the medium.) On top of this, they have very expedient service. They text you when your order is ready and my order did come out rather quickly, especially compared to some of the other places. Overall, it was a good experience.

Google
I'm going to be honest and start by saying I waited about 35 min for my order--and I'm giving it 5 stars anyway. why? not only because they let me know up front it would be a while (it was a busy night). not only because they offered me a complimentary beverage and apologized due to the long wait. no, the biggest reason was that the food was really that amazing. I ordered the brisket and coconut rice and the croquetas, and they were perfect: presentation, flavors, textures, balance. as it was, I couldn't finish it all myself, or I would have ordered even more dishes to try. i could tell just watching them work behind the counter that the longer prep time was in part because they are truly dedicated to getting their food RIGHT. i know people are expecting a fast service experience in a food court, but Hawker really deserves its own full-on restaurant.

Google
Tried their vegan bowl at the POST. Food was fresh and delicious. I’d definitely eat it again and recommend to others. They put coconut milk on their rice, which is amazing!

Google
Tried several of their dishes on a recent visit to POST Houston. Absolute standout dishes for me were the smoked brisket w/ Malaysian rendang curry and coconut rice, as well as the Hawker style chicken tikka masala with fluffy cheddar stuffed roti. I would return for either or both of those dishes, which is the true test! Coconut rice had a nice little kick to it, which I couldn’t quite place, but thoroughly enjoyed. The curry flavors are more towards the asian variety than Indian. I would describe the food as Modern Asian, as “Asian fusion” doesn’t quite do it justice. Posting a photo of what I tried. From top left clockwise: * the aforementioned Chicken Tikka Masala & roti * smoked Japanese sausage with sesame chipotle slaw on brioche bun * twice fried chicken wings w/ chili jam * the crazy delicious smoked brisket w/ curry & coconut rice

Charnie D.

Yelp
Very crispy and delicious chicken wings for a quick snack. It was fried perfectly and I can't wait to come back to try more of their menu. The location is at The Post and it is very scenic. It looks like a wonderful place for a date. Especially with the upstairs roof grass area.

Yelp
This place is located inside the POST. I was attending a concert so I decided to stop by and grab a bite I ordered the coconut rice, some roti and a vegan Indian dish on roti. I give the food I ordered 7/10. The coconut rice was very very mid slightly undercooked and I could hardly taste any coconut. Everything else was really good. The carrots which are pictured were seasoned so well and you couldn't really tell they were carrots. The sauce that came with the roti was a curry based coconut sauce so I mixed it in with the rice which helped since it was quite lack luster. I would probably try this place again but I definitely wouldn't recommend the coconut rice.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Pretty good, but not best at Post. Took a long time for chicken wings and coconut rice. Wings were more rubbery than crispy and coconut rice very bland, no flavor. Good ideas, but execution not great.

Yelp
**3.5 Stars LOCATION: Hawker Street Food Bar is located within the POST Market which is an indoor food hall in downtown Houston with ~20 vendors offering both local and international options. Beyond food, there are a few cute shops to browse and an amazing rooftop park that you can explore as well. On top of all that, they also have a gorgeous spiral staircase that's great for photos. PARKING: There is paid parking available at the POST. It's pretty high tech as their gates automatically recognize your car's license plate upon entry and it calculates your parking fees upon exit based on time. For M-Th: 0-75 min is free, $5/hr afterwards. For F-Sun: 0-30 min is free, $5/hr afterwards. You can either pay online or when your vehicle exists the gate. MY ORDER: [-] Bulgogi Fries from Hawker Street Food ($11.50) - flank steak, soy-sesame glaze, umami fries, kimchi emulsion, Korean gochugaru. These were well-fried and had good flavor but the sauce was pretty heavy and it was hard to eat too much of it. [-] Hawker Chicken Wings from Hawker Street Food ($10) - twice fried and glazed with chili jam. The chicken wings were fried well and the flavors weren't bad but there was way too much sauce. I'm not sure if this was an error though because our dish looked different from other pictures I saw online.

Deborah L.

Yelp
Asian street food typically is heavy snack or app type food. You can get full off of its many offerings, but you may want to walk around afterwards! It's a good thing Post Houston is a pretty place to walk around, with beautifully landscaped paths and turf on the rooftop, and a nice view of downtown. We ordered the bulgogi fries and eggplant satay from Hawker. Both dishes are big, with generous portions of the carb and proteins. I like that the eggplant rice bowl was slathered in a peanut sauce, because I love a good peanut sauce! The eggplant came out piping hot and cooked to perfection. The bulgogi fries had a balance of heat, Mayo, juicy bulgogi all on a bed of crispy fries. The Post had so many other options from 20+ restaurants, but I'm happy with what we chose!

Yelp
Another concert at 713 Music Hall so another stop at the POST Market for some food before the show and decided to try Hawker due to the excellent reviews. Ordered Bulgogi Fries, Meat Platter, and the Beef Rendang (Smoked Beef Brisket) and almost everything was good. My friend thought that the Chicken Tikka Masala was way too salty but he enjoyed everything else on the Meat Platter. The Rendang was good but I thought it could be a little bit more tender. I grew up eating Indonesian beef rendang and I know that the Malaysian version is not as tender, but I'd had Malaysian rendang dishes that were more tender. So there's that. The Bulgogi Fries was awesome with plenty to share between the two of us. No complaints here. Just like everything else inside Post Market, this was a counter order so there's not really much in terms of what you can expect for service. However, after placing my order and giving my phone number (so they can text me when my order was ready), I never received a text to pick up my food. And I waited for a good minute too. I had to go back to the counter to check to see if my order was ready and apparently they'd been sitting on the counter for a bit. The cashier also claimed to have texted me so either she took my number wrong or she tried once and never tried again (because there's no way multiple texts would fail to reach me when I was receiving texts from others)

Yelp
I had a very mixed food experience at Hawker, one that's left me and my friends not impressed enough to try again. The Korean lasagna was good and very hearty, but I'm unclear where the Korean part came in. The gochujang was missing in the flavor, which was dominated by the heavy veggies and not the beef. The eggplant satay was awful, overcooked and texturally off-putting with how mushy it was combined with a flat peanut butter sauce. We each tried a second bite and that was it. The croquetas were the most interesting dish we tried, but were still just okay and too small to ever want to try again. Hawker has one of the more interesting menus in the Post, but I think it suffers from being way too fusion focused instead of just serving good food.

John D.

Yelp
Worlds colliding may sound terrifying, but when it comes to food, it's a beautiful thing. This establishment's Korean Lasagna probably has anyone scratching their heads when they see the name on the menu. Take my word for it, though -- the item is an unlikely yet amazing combination of freshly made, filling pasta and tender, flavorful kalbi. It came with a sweetness that was a result of the nice blending of the ragu, bechamel, and cheese. I suggest that you pair it with the coconut and pandan rice. While it doesn't look like normal rice, I still enjoyed it. *Narrator: It's the coconut milk.* If only there was more than what was served. Point of fact, I went here after I flipped a coin. The universe don't lie.

Scott D.

Yelp
Very interesting selection of Asian fusion dishes. The quality and value were very good. The special of the day (roast beef) was very flavorful and the grilled chicken tikis was as well. We also had a very nice Brussels sprout salad. The wait for our food was reasonable and it was fresh. Definitely one of our favorite stalls at Post.

Lacey D.

Yelp
I tried the chicken wings and they were really good. They were ultra crispy and the sticky glaze was delicious. The wings were huge. And as such they were tough and a bit dry on the inside. This isn't a fault of the restaurant so I didn't deduct anything for it- all bigger pieces that I've tried at various places end up that way bc they Uber to be sure they are cooked all the way to the bone.

K T.

Yelp
Great coconut rice and brussel sprout salad. The service is fast. Totally worth it!!!

Stephen W.

Yelp
The Satay is not satay- its a bunch of eggplants on a bed of overcooked rice smothered with sweet peanut sauce. The roti canai is a literally a tortilla. The Korean lasagna was a mess. Basically my advice is avoid this place. My wife is a Malaysian and she said this place is a disgrace and people are going to think this is Malaysian food . And it was not cheap either. So disappointing.

Kyle W.

Yelp
This is an interesting food stand in POST market with not necessarily food that is from an actual Hawker stand, but rather, more of Asian fusion food such as Korean lasagna, etc. I personally tried the Croquetas Brutales which has torched eel, but the eel did not have a nice torched flavor. Croquettes are supposed to be quite mushy on the inside and nicely deep fried on the outside for great contrast, but the texture here is mostly chewy evenly, which is a bit strange. While flavor is decent, execution needs a bit of work even if the ingredients used are creative.

Kendy L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this Southeast Asian fusion place at The POST and was intrigued by the meat platter description. I decided to order it and when I got it I was amazed by the smell and visuals of it. Although not as big as what I expected. The rib was drenched with sauces and was bursting with flavor. However I wasn't a fan of the texture of the rib. If it was more tender I would've given 5 stars. The sausage was okay. A bit too salty for me. It was also too tiny for me. The meat with the rice and curry was amazing. I would've like to eat a whole bowl of it. Overall the platter was decent but pretty pricy for the street food portion size.

Jeremy D.

Yelp
I came to POST for my birthday and decided to try out all the different fries, since fries are literally my favorite thing to eat! The employee who took my order was super nice and my food came out pretty fast. When I finally got to taste the fries I was actually caught off guard. These fries definitely have a different taste than other bulgogi fries I've had. In a good way! I actually did like the sauce and I definitely would get it again. I didn't get to try anything else from here, but I will have to next time I come! Give it a try! I'm very certain you'll like these fries too!

Charles C.

Yelp
Great! One of the best places in the food hall! It has amazing fries and we have never been disappointed by them. It is my wife's favorite in the food hall and I would highly recommend.

Samantha V.

Yelp
With so many options available, we decided on bulgogi fries as a appetizer. Overall, they were fine. It seemed skimpy on the meat and I asked for extra crispy fries and I got not crispy fries. They do get an extra star because the cashier was so nice and I believed her when she told me she was going to make them crispy. Their service was on point but the fries has space for improvement.

Erin C.

Yelp
Took my dad to The Post the other day. First time there and the place was really cool. I love the food hall concept. Visited Hawker and here are the quick deets on it. Pros: --Being located in the Post is a huge plus --Plenty of parking --Restaurant employee was very friendly and helpful --Menu wasn't overwhelming --My dad really enjoyed his wings. --The portion given is fair for the price Cons: --I wasn't a huge fan of my dish. (I had the lasagna and it was flavorful, but it had huge chunks of carrots and tomatoes in it. Huge turnoff, esp when those ingredients weren't listed on the menu.) --the coconut rice wasn't very coconutty Overall: --I would go back to try something different, so I wouldn't be against recommending this place to others.

Nandeeta P.

Yelp
I loved this Balinese Eggplant Satay. The eggplant was well flavored and cooked with a creamy smooth coconut-y sauce and served over rice. I got a lychee drink on the side. This dish was $12 and definitely filled me up. There was also some fresh bean sprouts and onions on top! I would highly recommend this dish as it is vegetarian friendly and very tasty. If you like spicy I would recommend asking for spicy sauce on the side to mix in as needed. So yummy!!!! I'll be back

Britney G.

Yelp
I'm a fan! We ordered the Bulgogi Fries and the Braised Beef Bowl. For the price, you get a heck of a lot of food, and the quality is really good. So much umami flavors! The Bulgogi Fries were amazingly crispy and flavorful. It's almost like they batter them and fry them, making them extra crispy, but with the perfect amount of fluff inside. Then they top them off with deliciously flavored bulgogi beef and other sauces. Perfect pairing! As for the Braised Beef Bowl, wow! Again, so many different flavors contributed to the amazing umami, from the absolutely tender beef, to the pickled cucumbers and vegetables, the the bed of perfectly cooked and fluffy coconut rice. Really filling too!

Daysi L.

Yelp
My cousin and friend ordered this from Hawker and it was amazing. The umami fries were a huge portion and everyone got to try them. They're sweet and savory and omg you just have to try them. They loved the korean lasagna and ate the whole thing. The chicken tikka was also very good! Line was very short and the food was out within less than ten minutes.

Emy A.

Yelp
We ordered the smoke beef ribs and Korean lasagna because we wanted to try something different. We liked them.

Mahwish S.

Yelp
These hawkers street wings are off the chain! It has a little coconut sauce surprise at the bottom that I noticed after my first wing. Definitely a must try!

Adrian S.

Yelp
This is a great fusion joint. I got the meat platter and lasagna with umami fries and extra naan. The rice was so fresh and sticky it just soaked up and delivered the flavors with a perfect level of spice. The sausage was just right and the brisket was pull apart with a fork tender. Then there's the naan. Next level naan. Flaky and crisp around the edges like someone's grandma is back there making them. Korean lasagna was so delicious I had to take another bite... It is different than Italian lasagna but addictive and not so different that it would offend a picky eater. This place does excellent meat portions with just the right amount of sauce. I would legitimately order this as my last meal!

Alyssa U.

Yelp
Yummy! Would deff come back. Ordered beef rendang and roti kanai. Total ~$18. A bit high for the portion but similar pricing at all restaurant at the Post. Time: 15 mins Excited to try other items next time I come back!

Noreen C.

Yelp
first time trying birria tacos! so freakin yummy. I accidentally spilled my consommé and they were nice to replace it quickly for me.

Erin Y.

Yelp
After perusing the plethora of choices at POST HTX, my boyfriend and I landed on the korean lasagna at Hawker since I was feeling adventurous. At first glance after reading the description, the description of gochujang + bechamel may sound wonky and even off putting, but to my pleasant surprise, it actually worked well. While I am typically not a fan of fusion food, I enjoyed the new mixture of flavors that this dish brought and think the korean lasagna is something new and definitely worth a try! While the price was a bit high for one piece of lasagna, the portion was decently sized. I was definitely eyeing the beef rendang and laksa paella and look forward to coming back to try more if I can avoid the parking fiasco that happens on days where there is a concert happening at 713 Music Hall.

Joseph V.

Yelp
Overall good experience. This was my first time visiting this food hall and it was very lively to say the least, in a good way. The team was friendly, the prices were fair in my opinion for the location, and the food was pretty average. Wasn't the best thing I've ever had but it was by far not the worst. I will definitely be back to try other establishments inside this food hall.

Bosco G.

Yelp
We tried the meat platter, the Korean lasagna, and the wings. Everything was delicious! I would say that the paper under the meat platter was bothersome because it disintegrated under the saucy food. Otherwise, each one was very flavorful! My ranking from favorite to least would be the Korean sausage, wings, spare ribs, Korean lasagna, then the chicken tikka. Would recommend it, but it's a bit on the greasy side!

Nick R.

Yelp
First time at Post Houston. For some reason, the line was not as long here, which seems fortunate because Hawker was terrific. Lower prices than one would expect for this quality of food. The wings were especially terrific. I love sauced wings, but that sauce often comes at the cost of the wings crunch. Not the case here. Maybe the best wings I have had in ages. Definitely coming back.

Shah M.

Yelp
Solid option for anyone eating at The Post. The Hawker Chicken Wings were huge and had a great crunchy texture, but could've used a little more flavor on top of just the actual spice. The Chicken Tikka Masala main dish was fantastic. Every component was equally great and the overall bite really came together well, especially with the cheddar roti!

William L.

Yelp
Ordered the smoked beef brisket and it was about 2 pieces of meat on top of some coconut rice that I did not enjoy. The meat was flavorful but for $16, it played like an appetizer rather than an entrée. I would've been fine if it had some veggies in it as well or maybe I should've gotten something else that was recommended instead. Overall expect to spend at least $30-$40 for dinner at POST. I got a few things but felt mostly very much overrated for what it is. Inflated prices for the view, which I totally understand.

Jackie K.

Yelp
Hawker Street Food Bar is located in the new POST Houston, and it was AMAZING. Seriously, Hawker Street's Asian-Latin fusion is incredible: I absolutely loved this pork rice bowl dish--it was just so flavorful, and I regret that I can't remember the exact name of the dish. Anyhow, I want to try more of Hawker Street's menu, it was so good.

Hadi R.

Yelp
Great spot in POST! They have a lot of halal options. I got the Korean BBQ with rice and it was fantastic. Only issue was that I asked them to make it spicy but I didn't really get any of that. Other than that it was great. Most likely gonna be back.

Mj F.

Yelp
Tikka masala was good, however, the service was not. Cranky & unpleasant, unfortunately.

Dennis C.

Yelp
The Vegan options were very tasty! We had this eggplant dish that had a great flavor and nuts. The fries with sauce was always a great addition. I will definitely try other dishes here!

Doug P.

Yelp
We ate at Hawker on a Friday night. We ordered the Bulgogi fries, roasted tandoori carrots, and chicken tikka masala. All were excellent, but my wife and I agree that the tikka masala was quite excellent. They cook the chicken to order and it was tender and flavorful. The sauce was absolutely amazing too! I like all naan, but this naan was especially tasty. The cashier had recommended a side of rice, and I am glad we ordered it. The other highlight were the roasted carrots. They had just the right crunch to them and the spices complemented the carrots well. Of course the bulgogi fries were excellent too. We will definitely be back!!

Kathryn Y.

Yelp
Super unique and fun food - the Korean lasagna was delicious and I would definitely get it again!! I'm excited to try more of their options- def recommend if you are spending the day at POST!

Jonathan M.

Yelp
I got the smoked beef brisket here and dang pretty delicious. The coconut cake curry rice is awesome and the pickled carrots, red onions and cucumbers go so well with the hearty brisket and curry. The textures in this are great. The brisket is soft the fat well rendered and there's crispness to the pickles and topped with some fried onions. Really a nice bowl would get again!

David M.

Yelp
I totally love this place! Everything on the menu is unique fun and delicious. The staff is attentive polite and helped us make a great pick for our first time there, I know where I'll be eating next time I stop in at Post.

Susannah D.

Yelp
I love the chicken tikka dish. I always add rice. High quality ingredients and great customer service!

Kirby L.

Yelp
So I'm not sure how to categorize this food except by saying it was unexpected, unique and delicious. Korean lasagna? Melted cheese paratha? Yesssss. Friendly and fast service. A good option at POST and there is usually never a line.

Caleb M.

Yelp
Such an interesting take on Pan-Asian fusion, with dishes that are as creative as they are delicious. The Korean lasagna is both familiar and totally new, with the cheese, pasta, and stewed tomatoes providing a recognizable base for the flavors of gochujang and kalbi. At $15, it's a very large portion of a really filling dish with very ambitious flavors that comes out tasting awesome. The meat plate is also not to be missed. At $22, its another great value, and comes loaded with chicken Tikka masala, Brisket with Malaysia curry, and a smoked Japanese sausage. The sausage was probably the star of the show, with a smokiness and satisfying snap, glazed in katsu sauce that caramelized beautifully to the outside, bringing sweetness that rounded out everything. The brisket was my next favorite on the plate, pairing smoky beef with a flavorful coconut rice and delicious Malaysian yellow curry. The Tikka masala was a nice portion of chicken thighs in a smooth, aromatic sauce, and made for some welcome variety as the only Western Asian item amongst a bounty of East Asian fare. In all, can't recommend enough for anyone making their way to POST.

Donna L.

Yelp
My first time at the Post Office Food Mall. I had the Korean lasagna. It had wagu brisket, tomatoes and noodles. It was excellent with just the right amount of spicy kick.

J.D. J.

Yelp
POST Market is my favorite place to eat in all of Houston. A giant food court with NO chain restaurants? Perfection. Hawker is one of the best restaurants in the POST. We highly recommend the Umami Fries. So many flavors at once and so delicious!

Sasha F.

Yelp
Everything was delicious!! Donuts were my fave!!

Faye M.

Yelp
Don't know if I just came on a off day, but I should have trusted my instinct when on the usually busy Sunday afternoon, this place, while other vendors around it had lines of people, had none. I have been to The Post several times, so I wanted to give this place a try. Ordered the brisket rendang curry and I must say I was disappointed. First of all, the coconut rice, which constituted about 70% of the dish was very very under cooked. Sauce, probably had not more than two tablespoons on it. The beef, tough like jerky. For a stew, a brisket nonetheless should have been very moist. I don't know why it was so tough like the beef was old. Kinda like when you keep recooking or reheating a piece of meat and then the edges of the meat dries up. I wondered why a simple stew dish served over rice would take more than 15 minutes to make. Certainly the stew would have been on the pot ready to serve. Usually I'll just eat the food I get, but being $17 worth of inedible stew, I had the urge to actually go back and, dare I say it, complain. I wish the cook or manager was there instead of two young men who probably are not trained culinarians. They just looked at me as I explained to them why I could not bring myself to eat the food. Even with broken English, I understood them. "Thats how it's supposed to be." I didn't ask for a refund, for my only purpose of writing this review is that the owner act upon it by means of quality checks or ?training. The day I came here was: July 17, 2022 @ 2:45 pm.

jon o.

Yelp
We had the short ribs and chicken tikka. Both were exceptional. Looking forward to trying out the rest of their menu.

Violet B.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend, the POST Houston was a drive well worth it. It features a variety of vendors located in the food hall, a rooftop garden, and breathtaking architecture. There were plenty of options to choose from, but Hawker Street Food Bar caught my eye with its unique flavor fusions. So for newcomers, the POST is Houston's old post office renovated into a food hall. It's a huge building offering plenty of photo opportunities with sophisticated and modern accents. Additionally, at first since it is located in downtown Houston I thought parking would be challenging to find, but parking was super convenient even on a crowded Sunday night. I shared the meat platter which had smoked brisket, chicken tikka masala, pork belly, corn, roti, and rice ($22). It was smaller than expected, however, their food blew it out of the water. Even though I'm more of a veggie eater, the smoked brisket was my favorite. It was perfectly cooked and every bite was filled with flavor. However, I will say I was left a bit hungry (probably since I shared), so I ordered more roti. Living in South East Asia, their roti hit the spot and reminded me of home. It's 2.50 a piece, but their roti was the best I've had in a while. All in all, if you have the chance, check out Hawker Street Food. It is well worth it and I'll definitely be coming back!
