I Loved the restaurant.
The drinks, food, servers, manager, and indoor design were perfect.
I usually do not eat out, but since I moved to Dallas from DC last week and my new work starts the following Monday, I decided to give myself a treat. I tried this place due to the DFW restaurant week, with a $49 3-courses meal.
1. Baby octopus: as an appetizer; I Loved it; the white soup was very similar to the Thai coconut soup. The sourness of the soup will bring up your appetite; sweet sticky rice will make your system prepare for the main, and the extra tender octopus will make your brain wake up. (the octopus was so soft, thought it melted :) )
2. Prime 6 oz filet; main course; it came with two sauces, ketchup, brandy peppercorn demi(house barbecue sauce), and a side of parmesan truffle fries. I thought the outside crusts of the filet were a little too salty for me. However, as I rigged in, I realized that the seasoning was perfectly balanced when blended with fries and my pineapple cider (must try). The steak was so juicy and tender; the fries were crisp with a hint of parmesan, truffle, and butter.
3. Creme Brulee; desserts; Since most of the steakhouses I visited only had too sweet and too heavy kinds of desserts, I was not expecting too much. However, the restaurant served the perfect Creme Brulee: crisp coated sugar layer with a torch flame, ginger snap, Berry compote, and port reduction. The overall balance was terrific! Not too sweet and heavy, but just the right amount I wanted.
4. Pineapple cider; drink; since I have not drunk alcohol for about seven years, I did not want to take any junky drink. Since my main was a little oily due to the fries, I wanted some carbonated drink with a hint of fruity flavor to wash them out. This is the perfect drink with my menu selection. If I have another chance to visit this place, I would love to try the Guava Cider too.
Glad I was able to find this place. I wish to try a different menu from Hawthorn as I settle in Dallas. Thanks, Hawthorn, for giving me positive energies and vibes to start my settlements in Dallas!!!!
The total was $80 something with tips (I spent more than I planned), but the experience was way worth more than what I paid.
