A good place to buy fresh vegetable. Not easy to find a parking. Not many people and few choices.

Google
Nice small and friendly Farmers market. Very clean. A lot of free parking close by. Perfect place to get veggies and fruits for weeks consumption.

Best Market I know. Come shop today. (I work here and I love it) 🚫NO PETS!

The Hayward Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 7am-2pm at Watkins St between B St and C St downtown Hayward. Lots of fresh and organic produce are available. The fruits are a little pricey but try the free samples anyway. I like shopping for fresh vegetables here.

I love the fresh fruits and produce from our local farmers. There's also a handful of baked goods, coffee and dessert stands. Sometimes there's also performers.

I came to the market this morning and met a friend. Between the two of us, we purchased from 4-5 vendors. All of the vendors were so nice and they were separated by tape. It was easy to get items without touching them since the vendors had done such a good job of placing and showing the different produce. I forgot the local coffee vendor's name but I got the abuelita's mocha with a medium roast - so flavorful! And we got samosa chaat - always a win! It was a good, fruitful (pun intended) trip.

Good selection of western and asian vegetables, berries, stone fruit, avocados, bread, pastries, mushrooms, honey, and sometimes eggs. Usually live music, too!

Google
One of the best in the area. Plenty of parking in the parking structure next to the market. Very good variety of vendors. Fruits, vegetables, berries, honey, mushrooms, breads and cheeses. And they bring in fun entertainment too. Farm products from California Central Valley, Monterey coast, Sonoma/Sebastopol and local growers too.

Yelp
No pets allowed however, many vendors are super nice and will do "back door deals" so that you can make purchases behind the stand, which is great when you have your pup with you. Mamahouse Bakeshop, the honey booth, and also the new Dré Jams & Jellies jam booth are so good.!

Yelp
I love farmers markets and this is no expection Its ready to eat aisle is nice, with a burger booth, pastry booth, bread booth, taco truck, empanada booth and more MadCreationz: was the burger booth, a look at their site and it seems like theyre a bbq place mainly. But in this market they did burgers and sides. I ordered the Royal with cheese which is a classic hamburger with usual ingredients like lettuce, tomato, cheese etc. but the patty is an angus patty. Costed me 15.50$ including tax. I spent an hour travel back home before I actually ate it so take it with a grain of salt. Coming into it, I was happy to see the bun looked shiny, but in reality it still didnt meet my expectations. Its a good size burger. All the ingredients have substance to it. Cheese wasnt melty but I appreciate its flavor. But I couldnt tell the patty was angus. Id say its comparable to a jack in the box burger. Also ive been craving a really really good burger so my standards are high Empanada stall: there was a stall that only sold empanadas and I bought a beef empanada there too (5.51$ including tax. It was very floppy, and he gave it to me in a paper bag. Asked if I wanted mild or spicy sauce. Got spicy, spicy wasnt really that spicy so all you white people can try it too lol. Empanada was so floppy I couldnt dip the sauce, I had to poor it. Eating experience was annoying, taste and flavor wise, was alright. Wished the shell held up better. Beyond the ready to eat stalls, theres the fruits and veggies. I was laser focused on strawberries so Ill be talking a lot about it There were a total of 4 stalls with strawberries. 2 stalls were both by Rodriguez. One was an unnamed grocery stall and another was I forgot the name only focused on strawberries. Compared to Old Oakland farmers market, Hayward and CV's strawberry game is way stronger. I bought grapes, it was 3$/lb I went to the grocery stall that had other fruits and veggies and picked my strawberries there, I got the 3 pack and costed me 15$. I ate a few and they were really good. Besides strawberries, I cant tell you much about any other stalls lol Id say this has more to offer than the CV farmers market. But not by much. The ready to eat section is much stronger in Hayward than CV. Theres also more produce here. As usual, theres also tables in the middle of the market, theres a guy singing with guitar too. 5/5 cant complain

Yelp
always look forward to this on Saturdays. When I went at the end of April 2024 though it seemed to have more stands than usual! I wasn't complaining though and was glad to see the larger selection. My main reason for coming back here though without a doubt is for honey restock. If you haven't had Joe's Honey you're missing out!

Yelp
A quiet farmers market, I went last weekend at around noon (my first time going!) and there weren't a lot of stalls compared to other farmers markets I've been to. There are a lot of vegetable/fruit stands from all around the Bay. There's a parking garage right next to the stands which was great!

Yelp
I love this farmers market. Been going here for the last 10 yrs. However not sure why I have not written any reviews duh i come here once a month and since I mass-cook I love that I buy everything here fresh then cook them right away then freeze whatever I cook. Or At least wait for another few days before I cook the rest. The place has about 20-30 stalls compared to the one in Castro Valley and San Leandro closeby our place. That's why I came back here. It's clean and has a lot of varieties. Definitely recommended !!

Yelp
My new favorite farmers market in the area. I checked out Bayfair and Castro Valley locations - both are nice but Hayward location had a great energy to it. Came around 10 am and found street parking. The lively music set the mood to browse and shop. Got an iced coffee and made my way down the aisles. Theres many warm and friendly vendors. Also, take a card as payment which is nice for someone like me who tend to overspend...and lots and lots of samples! The fruits I got were sweet and delicious. I stopped by the food vendor tents and had to grab tamales, pot stickers and southern food to go.

Yelp
F O O D Produce + Peaches, nectarines, apricots + Rainier cherries + Blueberries and strawberries: currently peak sweetness Grub + MAC'D with Love: aesthetically pleasing, Instagram-worthy macarons (see photo) + Mama Bakehouse: We got the golden scone (ginger, turmeric, cardamom, black pepper), early grey (infused) Kouign-amann, and rhubarb rose Kouign-amann *chef's kiss*. Will have to return soon to try the other items. Felt like a kid at a candy store checking out all the unique flavors. + Don's Tamales: Tons of vegetarian and vegan tamales. Great for quick meals when you're busy. Can be frozen and reheated. We got the spicy cauliflower, eggplant, and chili pepper corn and cheese. S E R V I C E + Super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful vendors. + Lots of samples. You can ask about sampling if you don't see any. + I was eyeing the cornbread and Mac n cheese at one stall, but I sadly didn't have cash on me. Joe, who was promoting Sri Steve Iyer, highly praised the cornbread and offered to get me one to try. + Many vendors accepted card and ApplePay (and some say it on their signs) but safe to double check before you start grabbing stuff A M B I A N C E + Casual, family and date friendly + Not as chaotic/crowded as other farmers markets that I typically visit. We arrived around 10am + Easy to find, right next to the post office + Ample free street parking, there's also a garage T L ; D R I love farmers markets, and my husband decided to take us to one we haven't been to before. Safe to say this is my new favorite farmers market. Lots of options for produce and grub.

Yelp
Drove all the way from San Carlos and no market. Would have been nice to know it was closed today ( I'm assuming)

Yelp
Every Saturday right in front of city hall, next to BART, this we'll sized farmers market is a staple for my family. We love to come for the fresh produce and food offerings, and usually stay to enjoy live music with our food before taking our produce home.
google avatar

Ricca Cathrina E.

Yelp
First time trying this farmers market. I see some familiar vendors which is good. There isn't much variety of products like baked goods, or other food items except pork buns and popcorn. But it definitely has lots of veggie and fruit vendors. I don't appreciate people riding bikes through the narrow walk area.

Yelp
the hayward farmers market is a fun and lively way to start the weekend. you can grab a bite, browse the bounty of fruits and veggies, hear live music and bask in the morning to afternoon warmth. offerings vary weekly. there's plenty of farmers selling seasonal produce. then there's the ready to eat foods/beverages like lemonade, coffee, baked goods, toast, hummus, tamales, etc. there's also a handful of handmade or homemade goods like soap, spice blends, jewelry. conveniently located in downtown and within walking distance of the bart station, shops, restaurants, the library, post office, and city hall. misc: -free and ample parking on the street or in the garage -dogs/pets not allowed in the market -ebt/food stamps accepted (just need to exchange at the booth for tokens)

Yelp
Unexpectedly found out about the Hayward Farmers Market during a coffee catch-up. Wanted to shop around, but I didn't have cash on me and didn't want to be disappointed if I did see something I wanted to bring back home. I saw lots of veggies, fruits, tamales, mediterranean food, rotisserie chicken, fresh flowers, etc. I would come back if I were in the area again. There is a large parking structure people can park in that also leads out to the street where the farmers market is. P.S. There was a sign that said no pets.

Yelp
I always seem to start my reviews with: "I've been meaning to check this place out"... lol! But, it's true: I've wanted to go to the Hayward Farmer's Market since I moved to the East Bay 3,1/2 years ago (Btw: I'm an SF Native; yes I will always be a City Girl at heart)! 4-plus months of COVID, SIP & working from home has turned my Other Half (aka partner or fiance) & I into suburban dwellers that spend weekends container gardening & pickling... (I do the discount home decor shopping, which is a solo passion of mine, haha!). And they say you should use fresh & organic ingredients for pickling! Most importantly, I love supporting local & small businesses of farmers! So,... this is a small farmer's market. Not all produce stands take debit card (who carries cash these days?) & very few artisan vendors: 2 bread/baked goods, honey & flowers. There's a what looked like great coffee stand (I was already hyped up on caffeine), yummy-looking Indian food, kettle corn & that mesmerizing smell of rotisserie chicken trying to seduce me... Yes, it is mandatory to wear a fask mask (rightfully so!) & the 6 ft of social distancing wasn't exactly practiced by all {a few people got a little too close to comfort checking out the produce while the rest of were standing in line - it was really annoying} And yes ya gotta stand in line for the popular veggie stands. It was worth it! The Avila Farms folks who helped me were friendly and answered my questions. I also got to practice patience & mindfulness waiting [good skills to have] purchased great (& some pricy-Treat Yo Self) veggies & herbs, including PURPLE bell peppers. Can't wait to get my carb on and try the fresh bread from a 35-year family bakery named Upper Crust Baking! Will I come back again, maybe? What I really want to do is go on weekend adventures to check out other farmer's markets (with a lot more variety & food/drink stands) in the Bay Area! Stay safe and happy health eating!

Yelp
I love this farmers market! It's down the street from my house and even though it's not very big, they sell really high-quality stuff. There's fresh produce you can buy, but there's also local companies selling honey, baked goods, breads, and other sweet treats. I bought bolani from a stand and the man selling it was so friendly. He let me sample of variety of different bolani filled flat breads and try so many hummus samples as well. I ended up purchasing the pumpkin filled bolani and spinach filled bolani. The lentil one was really good too so I'll probably pick that up next time. We also picked up some flavored honey sticks to sample. We didn't want to commit to a large jar so we bought four different flavors and will be returning to purchase our favorite full sized jar.

Yelp
I love a good farmers market! This farmer's market isn't very big but if your goal is to buy delicious fruit and fresh produce locally grown and sold to you by the sweetest vendors I would come on by! I bought fruit from a very nice young man who was selling fruit with his parents. I'll have to update with his name next time but this kid was a great sales person and helped me pick juicy peaches that would be ready to eat in a few days. He is very nice and eager to help each customer and thats what I love about farmers markets; the family friendly atmosphere and local growers that take pride in what they do. There was a couple selling hummus and I tried a cilantro jalapeño hummus. Wow! It has a kick but as a hummus lover I was very impressed with this flavor and took some home to use as a dip and it was almost gone in two days!

Yelp
Solid farmer's market in downtown Hayward every Saturday morning up to 1pm. Next to the Hayward public library and Buddy's coffee shop. We would go in the mornings but then we started to go after noon now given some vendors provide discounts to rid of their inventory and there's less people. We usually find parking on the streets but if there aren't any, there are tons of parking in the garage which is right next to the farmer's market. There's a good amount of vendors with variety of vegetables, fruits, and food stands (e.g rotisserie truck, coffee, bread, etc). You can find hard to find Asian veggies here too, such as the ones that you can only find in the Asian markets, but fresher and for the most part, pretty affordable. There's a stand that has tons of Asian veggies with usually a long line, next to the parking garage. Chinese broccoli for $2, bok choy, radish, etc. I found a stand that had a fat napa cabbage for just $4, it fed us well for a whole week! Love the tomatoes variety, and the grapes are SO sweet. There's a strawberry stand that had the sweetest strawberries I've tasted. My other favorite stand is the fruit stand that has plums, pluotes, grapes, etc for $2/lb. It's a good price since other vendors charge $3 or higher. They try their best to ensure everybody follows COVID precautions such as no touching vegetables (with or without gloves, you still can't touch them), standing in line 6 feet apart, wait in line, etc... but I always see people cutting, touching vegetables, etc. Happens quite often but the vendors for the most part try to politely warn the customers to not do it. Some vendors take card, some don't. Just gotta keep your eye out for them. It's a great market for the town of Hayward, I just wish it happens more often because I run out of veggies during the week or they get too old by mid-week and I have to rush to eat them. Love how it is open rain or shine year-round!

Yelp
Love love this group of farmers and local business owners. I come here almost every weekend now since moving to Hayward and my experience has awesome every time. Love getting my apples from the two older gentlemen (they're so lovely). Though it's a little smaller than others, I still love how intimate it is.

Yelp
Came by today with my my husband who is a vegetarian and loves to buy fresh produce! I was standing on the side under the shade of a tree the entire time because we had our dog. As I was leaving I was chased down and told I could not be there because of my dog. (Btw .. we weren't in any food stalls) just walking to our car. The farmers market is small and not much variety. This wouldn't be a market I would recommend you to go of your way for. Won't be coming back due to the rude people who run the market. Sucks.. we would of loved to support small local businesses.
google avatar

Yelp
A cute market, but COVID has taken the fun out of enjoying the farmers market. I hate waiting in line for anything, so I choose not to. I don't need things that bad to wait for it. Customers can no longer touch the merchandise, fruits or veggies. Each customer needs to stand in line and wait their turn. I was bummed and disappointed. But I understand the precautions. Besides this hassle, it's a cute little market. A fun outing for the family- don't forget to wear your mask!

Yelp
Its been years since visiting the Hayward Farmer's Market and i like that its located near City Hall vs on Main Street. A nice variety of vendors but definitely smaller than Old Oakland on Fridays...strawberries are always a draw for me along with pumpkin bolani...a few food vendors such a bbq rice plates, pulled pork and barbecue, kettle corn and the mediterranean truck along with fresh vegetables, fruit and local honey. I like the sense of community here and locals supporting their City. Parking convenient, street and a garage
google avatar

Yelp
Plenty of free parking. If you get there during peak hours you might have to walk a bit, but still free! The main reason I make the trek here is for to stock up on Lucky Dog hot sauce! If you lucky, Scott will be there. If not not, all of his employees are friendly & know their $hit. Besides the Lucky Dog hot sauce, there's a great variety of vendors here. Buy your honey from a local vendor, not at the grocery store! Most of the vendors have the same prices, but I don't hesitate to make an offer.

Yelp
What a way to start the weekend!! Fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh fish, pastries etc. To top it off-Lots of parking in the parking garage!!! Forgot to mention they also have Organic fruits and Veges. We are so lucky to have a farmers market this close to us. I also have started buying organic nuts like walnuts and almonds!! Also Mexican food and Indian food vendors.

Yelp
We were in the area getting ready to watch Captain America and stopped by to see what was there. Overall, it was a little of a disappointment compared to the Ferry Plaza Farmers (SAT), Downtown Berkeley Farmers (SAT), Old Oakland Farmers (Fri) and Jack London Square Farmers (SUN), in that order. The market was overpriced for the items and the quality was A-OK, nothing to jump for joy. It is blueberry season and in the Berkeley and Old Oakland locations, Triple Berries has the best blueberries. The local stand at Hayward had berries that were cheaper, but not tastier. Most of the samples were bland. The only impressive things were some Asian veggies, but I can always get that at the Farmers in Old Oakland and a BBQ food stand. There was a taco stand that my cohort got and the asada taco tasted like pork and was not very inspiring. (Side note: good tacos in east bay is the taco truck outside Hotsy Totsy in Albany). The BBQ however was really good. I got the 3 meats: brisket, ribs and sausage. The brisket is a little leaner, so if you like the fat, you will be disappointed. I, however, really liked it along with everything else. The beans were not too sweet and went well with the meat and slightly spicy sauce that was over the meat. Overall, the BBQ was the best thing and if I am in the area I will stop by for some ribs.
google avatar

Yelp
I recently love the flower lady. The vegetables are ok but you do get more Asian choice. There are no restrooms. There is an ATM but some vendors do accept cards. The major problem is lack of enforcement of health and safety rules. No pets allowed in the market and there are always ignorant pet owners who take pets in. As a result the food served and seafood sold is questionable, for me.

Yelp
I went to the NEW Location for the Hayward Farmers Market. It's at 777 B St, the Hayward City Hall Plaza area. Watkins & B Street. I took Bart there and it's just 1 block away from Downtown Hayward Bart Station. Since I got there early I was able to walk around without many people around. I was looking for the FREE tote bag for the first 50 people. Since I couldn't find it I went back to the Information Booth and they were just starting to give them away. I was about the 10th person. They made you fill out your name, address, & email to get one. It's a nice, strong, canvas farmers market bag that says "Hayward Farmers Market" and they usually sell it for $12! They also had a cherry tasting from 4 farmers that were there selling cherries. I liked Hamada Farms, Kingsburg Cherries: $3/lb or 2lb/$5 I also got: Bee Pollen from Joe's Honey, from Hayward $8 small bear of it Quail eggs from Olivera Egg Ranch $1.25 a pack Melter Honey from Palomino Family Farms - small glass jar for $4.5 Stuff I saw: Gold Rush Kettle Korn Tamales "Mexicanos" 2647 International Blvd #104, Oakland w/ a sign for aguas frescas, fruit cocktail, tamales: chicken, pork, or cheese 1 for $2.5; 6 for $12; 12 for $24 Asian Cuisine booth - ready to eat. Soleil's African Kitchen - ready to eat food. hey have Zipicailidipi Sauce - a sweet & spicy sauce. I didn't try it, but it's sold in a plastic bottle 16oz. I didn't catch the price. Good for putting on grilled & fried foods. Fresh asparagus $2.25 a bundle Sweet sugar peas $1.5/lb Brooks cherries $3 basket/2lb $5 Goose egg $1 ea Salted Duck 1doz/$10 Duck Penoy 1/2 doz $4.5/ 1 doz $9 Cauliflower $2 ea; broccoli $1/lb Strawberries: 2.5 basket/3pk for $6 A jumping thing for kids, a jazz band, some other booths near City Hall, bakery, crafts, etc. Also saw: Home Maid Italian Market Place - ravioli, didn't even look. Great Harvest Bread Company - didn't even look. Santa Cruz Pasta Factory - didn't even look. NO Pets at the Farmers Market people! Recommended Hrs: Sat. 9-1 Parking on the street, Hayward Bart, or Lucky's shopping center.

Yelp
I actually really was surprised that this farmers market had the great variety that it did!! Many good venders with good reasonable prices!! I bought almost $20 dollar's worth of vegetables and brought onions (.75 cents a lb), Brussel sprouts (very very fresh! $6), okra (1.25lb), 3 for $5 mushrooms of many different varieties, cauliflower ($2), Broccoli ($2 a bunch). Great food places as well I'm just not a food person early in the morning ;). Parking Is NOT That bad. I parked in the general parking lot by lucky's. Walk was less then 5 mins. Very nice and friendly atmosphere. I would definitely come again! It's worth waking up early in the morning ;).

Yelp
I always go to the Farmers market. And always get the Filipino food it's so good I always buy 1 order and get free 4 pork on a stick.

Yelp
My heart really wants to give this Farmers Market four stars. Because my girls and I always have fun, special times here. We pick out fruit to eat while we browse around, pick out produce for the week, get some kettle corn. If there's a musician or a balloon artist, we'll watch for awhile and give a couple of bucks. If the crepe stand is there, we might get a savory egg and cheese crepe for brunch. I love that it's open year round, easy to get to, and easy to park. But the sad reality is, as far as farmers' markets go, it's rather mundane. Most of the booths sell the same items for the same prices. There is just not a lot of variety, compared to other markets I've visited. So, three stars it is, even though I love to go to it every chance I get!

Yelp
Hayward's farmers market is at the Hayward city hall plaza, watkins & b street. the bart station is only a few blocks away. plenty of street parking available. sat 9-1 a.m. year round. there are some organic vendors here but not many. didn't see many asian veggies either. flowers available. food et al. highlights -kettle corn - indian foods and flavored naan -asian cuisine, mainly filipino -bolani huumus -crumb crazy gourmet : soul pastries, pies, ... -soleil's african food -mission fresh fish -octoberfest bread : phenom pastries -brittany crepes -arnold's catering : nice q -tacos, burritos, and aqua fresca -books sales, hayward library (.50, 1.) biweekly -cheesecakes and soul pastries. -happy dumpling: dumplings, potstickers, and lamb skewers. footnotes: -go with little exectations and you will be pleasantly surpriese. -doesn't compare with oaktown's many farmers market. -comparable with old oaktown's market without the grannies. -bartable. street parking available. -mostly cash only.

Yelp
I moved to this area from the northeast about 10 months ago and have ventured out quite a bit however, did not make it to this farmers market until today. I must say, I was really surprised when I walked over to where the market is, right in front of the Hayward City Hall. The market was not only larger than I expected, but packed with many different vendors, entertainment, and even an ATM was put out (since most of these places are *cash only*)! The produce was excellent and there were plenty of samples to try. Might I also mention that most vendors sell *organic* produce! Visiting each station was so much fun. Beyond the produce being full of flavor and also very cheap there were bakeries and even a coffee shop tent. There was also a place for BBQ. The bread shop had all kinds of sweet bread and savory bread. There was even a honey vendor with a display of his bees. I highly recommend coming here on a Saturday morning even to just walk through. There is a vast display of many different foods and you're bound to find something you like. Oh, and there was even a jewelry display! I didn't visit that stand but I saw it from afar.

Yelp
I'm here practically every Saturday and as I park in the neighboring lot, I am transported to various places because of the live music: Paris by a charming accordionist singing in francais, Cajun Country by zydeco, the South by a grizzled old guy singing Johnny Cash standards. They definitely have the best music of all my local farmers' market stops. My little girl loves buying herself some kettle corn from the always jovial college student who works there. Though the market is small, just the street in front of the City Hall, there are various vendors, including those who specialize in Latino and Asian vegetables. We usually run into folks we know from work or family music class.

Yelp
moving back in the area from Livermore I have missed the farmers market. so I am thrilled to have found the Hayward farmers market. I looked forward to going there in the next 30 minutes and buying all my fresh fruit vegetables flowers pasta breads ,refresh eggs are amazing there to hope everybody tries it out and helps the farmers as they need our help. I'd rather shop here than big franchise stores.

Yelp
I love this little farmers market. There's fresh veggies, fruits, nuts and wonderful baked goods! It's so exciting finding those little gem baked goods! 5 star YUMMY FOR MY TUMMY: ~ Moist Chocolate Cake from Crumb Crazy $5 ~ Cheese Cakes (can't remember the name of the vendor) $5 ~ Chocolate oatmeal crunchy cookies made with whole wheat flour (can't remember the vendor) $1.50 for a big cookie. ~ Arnolds BBQ Turkey Leg with blueberry bbq sauce $4 (comes with a piece of bread) Yes, I bought all of the above. I also bought grapes and veggies. The best part was, I spent less than $20- for my entire shopping trip. And since it was Halloween, the market gave out free baby pumpkins, which I happily stuffed into my Trader Joes re-useable baggie. Happy shopping!
google avatar

Jelly J.

Yelp
There is ample amounts of parking for free in the area. There are lots of fruit and vegetable vendors. However, if you come later than noon the majority of the farmers don't have much left. So get there as early as possible.

Jawara P.

Yelp
I've lived in Hayward most of my life so I might be a bit biased, but for just a block and roughly 10-15 vendors, I can find what I'm looking for. Some produce vendors are shadier than others ( beware the late 3/$10 fruit deals ), but all of them are outgoing and friendly. The honey is top notch and harvested in Hayward and other surrounding Bay Area locations, the food is top notch. The live music is eh... and the selection after 11:30am is going to be a bit of a reach ( Get there early. ) But all in all I've made a staple of things to do in Hayward on a Saturday morning. It says they take Apple Pay; this is conditional for each vendor some do and some don't... FREE SAMPLES. FREE PARKING.

Krysta M.

Yelp
It's a small but very local farmers market! I find it's better for me to just wait to get my produce here on Saturday mornings than going to the farmers market. Fruits are generally cheaper per pound and are at their peak ripeness so I can eat them right away without waiting a few days. I recommend checking all the booths out and comparing prices. Some take card and some don't! Just look out for their signs. I usually come with a $20 bill and leave with a ton of stuff without even spending the whole thing. The general layout is produce, honey, baked goods, seafood, and a couple of local cooked food stands like Mexican, Indian, and Mediterranean. With those you're looking at about $10 per meal, and even cheaper with just general items like pupusas and tamales. (YUM!) Unlike other farmers markets that close around 11c this ones open til 1pm, but I also find it starts to die down around noon. Check it out!

Yelp
Fresh produce, not too crowded. Plenty of parking in the garage. Just happened to stop by and liked the experience shopping fresh and organic at a farmers market.

Yelp
We've lived in Hayward for 4 months, and I finally got to the farmers' market (hard to pull myself away from sleeping in / awesome homemade brunch on Saturday mornings). So glad I finally went, I've been starting to doubt that California (with a larger GDP than 95% of the countries in the world) has any decent produce, because Safeway would suggest otherwise (except oranges). But oh man, the produce was cheap and I got some random things you wouldn't find at the grocery store. Heirloom tomatoes for .75 to 1$/lb? Are you kidding me? Thai eggplants? Golden chard? Pluots (the plum-apricots, or whatever they are called)? All delicous and cheap. Pretty much everything I purchased was $1 or less. I got us fruits and veggies for a week for probably 15$. Hayward library had a mini book sidewalk sale. Checked it out heading back to my car. Found a pretty hardcover collection of 3 Dickens novels for 1$/ each. Another win.

Yelp
After being a resident of Hayward for a couple years now, I finally checked out the farmer's market on B Street. Be advised that the market is open every Saturday. Overall, this place is legit and definitely worth a visit. Here are my pros: + Easy garage parking (2nd fl is less busy) + Gold Rush Kettle Popcorn (freshly made) + Vietnamese Garlic Noodles for $5 + Huge Watsonville strawberries - as big as your hand! + Sweet navel oranges + Live jazz music + Lots of fresh fruit and veggies Here are my cons: - Wish it were bigger with more vendors - Rude old ladies that cut lines - No tables/benches to relax and grub I'll definitely come back.

Yelp
I love shopping at the farmers market. Fresh fruits, veggies, food, bakery, and other specialty items at a great price. Often I make a trip all the way down the street, check out the stock, quality and prices and then I shop. Sometimes sellers next to each other sell the same items for a small price difference or up to dollar differences. I love buying jujubes, pomegranates, persimmons, and some unique fruits like guavas from them (guavas are rarely sold here but sometimes you get lucky when they're in season). You get your garden variety veggies and unique veggies as well. Sometimes on the right day, you'll find interesting fruits and veggies and not again the next week. Make sure you come early when its not very crowded. I usually go around 8am. My family has always shopped here and I plan on continuing it. Go on and try something new you haven't tried before! It might just become you new favorite dish.

Yelp
Medium-sized farmer's market with a moderate amount of vegetables, fruit, food stands, and fresh food to take home. Some of the things I purchased: *Pluots $2.00/lb. - SO SWEET There was another stand that sold them for $1.00/lb. but they didn't have samples so I bought it from the stand where samples were available. That's a big selling point. *Donut Peaches $2.00/lb - From the same stand as the pluots. Yummy!! *Tilapia plate @ Soleil's African Kitchen $8 each - It took quite a while for the food to come out and they kept insisting that the fish was still cooking. I was weary about ordering this as opposed to the chicken stick or chicken leg dishes but the tilapia was surprisingly moist. It was salty at times but is balanced out with the rice. It comes with plantains, banana beignets, and your choice of coconut sauce or tomato sauce (I got both). Rice was very mushy, plantains were bland, banana beignets were tasty like banana bread, the coconut sauce didn't taste that coconutty, and the tomato sauce tasted like spaghetti sauce at times. *Falafel snacker @ The Flying Falafel $4.50 each - It's hard not to get something here when their outgoing guy is convincing you with samples. And the samples were hot and crispy so I couldn't resist. I got the snacker so I would have room for food from the other booths but it was quite filling. The falafels and ingredients were very fresh. I could have used a bit more spicy sauce though. *Pork tamales @ Tamales Mexicanos $2.50 - I would say these were just okay. You can see my individual review on this place. The biggest plus? The green sauce. Most places just leave it up to you to add sauce so you end up with something typical like Cholula or Tapatio but the green chili sauce they make is delicious. You can park in the Lukcy's parking lot across the street and it gets quite crazy but its manageable. It took us a couple minutes to find a spot.

Yelp
Be the Duchess too high and mighty to write a review for her dukedom? No. Be the Duchess too lazy to write a review for her Duchy? Yes. Until now. Because there are dishes to be done and this is a great distraction. The Duchess LOVES the hayward farmers market and goes nearly every Saturday. The Duchess has lived in hippie bastions such as Santa Cruz and Davis and loved their farmers markets but not in the same way as Hayward's. It is bustling in a less american touchy-feely organic way and somewhat more with the flavor of another country's village marketplace. There are many languages being spoken, unfamiliar vegetables, more bargaining then The Duchess usually sees. Tiny ancient asian women aggressively picking through legumes and carrying gigantic bags of strange veggies that must weigh a good third of their body weight. Only a handful of the stands are certified organic but many post "no spray". Prices are good, fruit and veggies are fresh, the vendors are friendly and if you visit them regularly and buy in decent quantity they will round down prices considarably. Food vendors are good - especially the mexican stand and the place that sells chinese dumplings. Greasy goodness. Snappy's cafe makes a mean mocha - very unstarbucks with a delicious bitterness contending with the sweet chocolate. The parisian bread stand has a great dutch (Duchess?) crunch that is good even if you forget about it for a week and it is rock hard. Alright my subjects, The Duchess will see you at the market.

Yelp
Looks like a wonderful small Farmers Market on B Street. Lot's of people buying fresh produce, and there was a music band outside too. Had noticed that the Hayward Public Library was having a book sale outside as well. Much smaller than other farmers markets I've seen and been to, but this one is nice.

Yelp
Discovered Hayward's Farmers Market on our way to Lucky's! Too bad it rained a bit that morning which is probably why the number of vendors were not substantial. We did a quick uninterested lap and it wasn't until I saw a woman holding a bag of what seems to be naan when I said, "ouu, I want that!" So we go back and find the vendor who was selling naan (plain, onion and spinach) and a variety of dips. I picked out the spinach naan ($5) for 2 round pieces and the chicken something ($5) and 3 vegetable samosas ($5). The chicken something (I forget the name) is just like chicken tikka masala.. not bad!

Yelp
I wish that I could give this a higher rating, but it just does not make it. There are a couple of things worth stopping by for, but you will probable find them along with more at another farmer's market. The 2 exceptions are the African food booth where they serve fried plantain with a side of hot sauce. These are great if you get them freshly fried so they are still a little crispy. The other is the plant booth. They have so much and will bring plants the following week if you are looking for something special. The musicians are less then desirable. I think that they would sell more CDs if they didn't play (at least the ones I've heard). OUCH. ***** UPDATE 5/17/08. Today there was a jazz band playing that was actually good. Worth the trip down just to hear them. Because of thi, I'm adding a star to my review.

Yelp
If there is one thing I love, I looooove farmer's markets. I learned in a World Hunger class at San Jose State the importance of buying locally grown products, and that stuck with me. In my effort to start cooking at home more so I can cut calories and stick to my budget, I ventured out to the Hayward Farmers Market this past Saturday... My fabulous finds: -Gorgeous Green Bell Pepper & Yellow Onion- SIXTY CENTS for the two items! -Yummy purple grapes, $2.00!!! -Red carnations for my mama...$4.00!!! I'm in awe. I will definetly be back. My only wish is that there were more vendors. This market is kinda small compared to the one I like in Irvington, Fremont.

Yelp
First off, I LOVE farmer's markets. I go to the Hayward Farmer's Market every chance I get. It is right around the corner from home and therefore I can walk and not worry about all the parking problems there are on Saturday. This is the only Farmer's Market I have been to in California but it rocks compared to the ones in the Mid West and east coast. The strawberries are to die for and so many other fruits and veggies come in and out of season on the tables. There are many flower stands, fruits and veggies, prepared food, eggs, bread, and a guy who sells plants (herbs, veggies, hot peppers, etc.). I try to buy all of my fruits and veggies here for the week. The prices are better, the produce is fresher then the local grocery stores and you can see the people you are supporting. The most recent addition, Fried Plantains, YUMMY!!! Opened Year Around. (-1 star because I agree with Linda M. There should be more variety!)

Yelp
Hayward's Farmer's market is a good place to go if you want to kill an hour. The market is only about a small block long. Plan to have something to do afterward, because it surely won't fill your appetite for food or culture. It's a good romp nonetheless. The market mainly consists of fresh produce, vegetables and fruits. These vendors usually supply samples of their fruits to entice your purchase. It usually works. You won't find many meat people. I remember there being a salami guy, but I don't see him anymore. There is one bakery that sells fresh loafs of bread. Food vendors consist of an african gourmet, tamales, and a samosa stand. There are some people that sell ceramics and plants. As for entertainment there's one guy with a guitar singing through speakers and there's another guy in a tie die shirt that wraps balloon animals. Like almost all farmer's markets, everything is pretty cheap and affordable. That's basically it. Parking is really easy as there is a parking lot right in back. It can get packed but I've never had a problem getting a space. There are a few local shops that you can visit, like The Book Shop, Fink's Bakery, or Bill's.

Yelp
Tons of great locally-grown fruits and vegetables to choose from, as well as pastries and meals from local businesses! Everything is inexpensive and tasty. Free fruit samples and a pastry stand? PERFECT place to have a Saturday morning snack!
