This small museum in Gilbert, AZ is full of cool local history and located in an old schoolhouse named after William "Bobby" Gilbert. Each room has a unique theme, from old school setups to vintage home life and even a tribute to the local police, plus there’s a beautiful quilt exhibit with pieces made by local artists. It’s a fun and informative visit that takes about an hour, and you can even get in free for two with a Culture Pass from the library.

Another great museum in the area. Have been visiting all the small city museums. Great way to stay out of heat and learn about your town.

The place has a charming country vibe and is set in an old elementary school right next to the current high school. Inside, you can check out vintage kitchen gear, old school desks, blackboards, a fire engine, a threshing machine, and even chat with some friendly ladies quilting in one of the rooms. For just a few bucks, you can also see a massive model train setup in the basement, and if you love history, it’s definitely worth spending an hour here.

After 5 years of living in Gilbert, I finally made it to this beautiful, well-kept and very interesting museum ♥♥♥ The exhibitions are well organized and the displays are great and easy to understand. Checking the website I found the Paint and Sip class, and I am very excited to participante soon!

Really nice Musuem. The staff greeted us upon entering and gave us clear directions on how to self tour. The fee was just $5 for seniors. The self tour map was easy to follow. The Musuem is situated in Gilbert's old elementary school built in 1913. The building had been well maintained and is a perfect setting for a local town Musuem. We enjoyed the no pressure self tour and we spent at least 2 hours before leaving for lunch. We probably will bring other family members in the future.

We all drive by this place on the Southwest corner of Gilbert Rd and Elliot and we all say to ourselves “we should stop by someday”. Well, the day finally came for me and my family and it was well worth it. There is so much to learn about the town’s history in this museum.

Yelp
A small but very interesting historic museum about the Town of Gilbert, AZ. It's named after William "Bobby" Gilbert, and in this little old former schoolhouse you can learn all about the history of this little town that's grown to be pretty much like a smaller city. There's currently a quilt exhibit by local artists/craft quilters who sent in their beautiful one of a kind quilts and they're all for sale too. Each room has a theme whether it's about the early history of Gilbert, a rendition of the original elementary school/schoolhouse, a look at what a home's bedroom and kitchen area used to look like, or a room dedicated to the Gilbert police force, each part of this little museum was packed with great information and unique artifacts donated by the townspeople. Worth a trip and you can also check out a Culture Pass at a local library to get free admission for 2. Will take about an hour to really enjoy and get a good look at everything. We didn't have that much time so we just took in as much as we can and will have to come back another time God willing.

Yelp
We rented out one of their facilities to host a bridal shower this past weekend. The facility was clean, spacious, and had kitchen utilities available for prep use! We used the chairs and tables provided by HD South to set up and brought in our own decorations and serving platters. My maid of honor (MOH) reached out to the HD South to reserve and book the room- it sounded like it was a smooth and easy process. Overall, I am very satisfied with the facilities and space used for the bridal shower! The only complaints I had was the confusion about how to use some of the kitchen appliances and my guests complained about the frigid cold bathroom facilities nearby. Other than that, if you are looking for an affordable facility to rent for an event, I highly recommend this place!

Yelp
March 2024 No surprises, small town historical museum. It's in an old school and each class room has a different theme! I've seen other museums utilize this same tactic and it works pretty well! Less over whelming when it comes to reading a lot of info. My fave room was the ag room, talked about farming value and different types of farms. And there's a lot of farm equipment in the back that is cool to imagine working before everything was so fast. The staff was very kind. It was quiet. I'm always a fan of an audio tour, but no such luck here.

Yelp
I loved this small museum. I grew up on a farm and loved the farm equipment in the yard and the overall country feel of the place. It is situated in the old elementary school next door to the the present high school. I was seriously offended though. How dare they call the displays antiques! I grew up with that stuff! (Totally kidding) It was fun to see the old kitchen, the old schoolhouse desks, blackboards, the old fire engine, threshing machine (before my time, thank you, OK barely), and get a feel for the farming history of the area. A group of antique women was working a quilt in one of the old school-rooms. I stopped and chatted. They were pretty fun. The cost was $5.00, $4.00 for seniors. Ask to see the expansive model train display in the basement. That was pretty cool also. Allow an hour or so, well worth it if you're a history person.

Yelp
A pretty nice little museum. It is amazing to see the growth just in the last two or three decades. Lots of good photos.
