Heard Craig Center for the Arts & Museum

We hosted our daughter's wedding reception at the Heard-Craig Carriage House. It was the perfect venue for our gathering. From start to finish our experience with Karen was exceptional. We loved the location and the charm of the building. Thank you for providing us the perfect space for our celebration!

Beautiful place! I attended a lecture on famous women in art bu Karla Peska and enjoyed it very much.

This was my first time attending an event with the DFW costumers guild, but my third time attending an event at the Heard-Craig center. I actually hadn't been in years since my son was smaller and there was a homeschool outdoor event. This was a treat as I am a history buff and love visiting antiquated homes! This event was a costume black and white tea and the Heard-Craig center did not disappoint! Everything was absolutely lovely on the inside and out. Afterwards we played croquet on the grassy knoll outside of the house, and the grounds were meticulously gorgeous! This is a great venue with very sweet and attentive staff. I'm even considering it for a future wedding venue. 💛

Had a Family Reunion Event at the Heard Craig Center October 21, 2023. The Garden was perfect for outdoor games, table talking set ups, and family meals. Utilized the Carriage House as well for the kitchen use, layout tables for family photos, and the ease of a ramp for wheelchair accessibility. It all was the perfect venue for our reunion of 40. Thank you for wonderful, beautiful memories! We are all planning to meet there again next October!

What a lovely experience. I scheduled a Mother's Day tea here for my Mom. Full of rich history, delicious teas and a wonderful tour about the family history and town history. The treats were delicious and the conversation was even better! Looking forward to scheduling future events here.

It is a small restored home by east coast standards but much like a little jewel box inside. Definitely worth the time and money it takes to tour it. The tea was very, very nice too. Just to see all the dishes and silverware set out and to know I am not responsible for clean up was worth the $10.00 for the tour and tea!!

The Great Gatsby Night was fabulous! Loved the live Jazz music and cocktails! There are always informative and fun free lectures, sometimes hanging art to see and buy. Beautiful place to host an event.

We made reservations and went for tea and then the tour. The ladies there are fabulous, accommodating, and extremely knowledgeable. The tea was good - salad, scone, dessert. The tour was very interesting and I learned and saw some things I hadn't when touring other historic homes. It's well kept. There are spaces being used for storage that it would have been nice to see as they were back then.

Great opportunity for children and even young adults to see the live animals and the dinosaurs. They used to allow the public to feed the smaller animals in cages but that was several years ago

Indoor wedding, concert and any gathering you could think of. This is a great place for any event. I came here for our friend's wedding which is supposedly outside but with this Texas weather, all this rain that's dump among us wouldn't let us enjoy the outside but of course the people of this place have manage to plan everything with of course the plan b and it all went smoothly.

Attended a wedding here and the venue worked really well for both the ceremony and the reception. Bride/groom were easily able to be seen by standing on the stage, and once the ceremony was over it was converted over to the music producing/fun having portion of the night.

Went with a friend after lunch and had a tour of the Mansion and was greeted and shown around the property by Georgia! She was very informative and had great attention to detail! She informed us of the Christmas tea and luncheon so we signed up and had a great time!

There's more to the Heard Craig house than just tours but that's my experience with it. Quite often we walk by and there will be a musical performance on the yard where there is a gazebo and a nice grassy area perfect for outside seating. It's very pretty and lends itself well to more genteel types of entertainment. The tours of the house are very well done and informative. The house is absolutely gorgeous inside. There is elaborate woodwork in the foyer, the like I have never seen anywhere else. I talked to someone recently who had their wedding photos shot on the staircase here. Just the foyer and staircase alone are worth the price of the tour but you'll get lots more.

This is a lovely historic building, rich with history and staffed by wonderful folks who genuinely care about the city and this building's legacy. The rich, detailed woodwork, the fixtures, the appointments and the furnishings are all original. I recommend you visit (tours are given twice weekly and by appointment) to immerse yourself in this bygone day beauty.
