"Downtown Galveston restaurant Hearsay on the Strand will host multiple parties and events throughout February but its balcony packages, where you can watch parades on the Strand below, are where the party is really at. The $85 balcony party ticket gets you beads to throw at paradegoers, New Orleans-inspired menu options and cocktails, music, and access to a cash bar. Balcony parties are held February 2 through February 4, and February 9 to February 10." - Lane Gillespie

Hearsay on the Strand delivers a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere that makes for a memorable dining experience. The ambiance was absolutely stunning—classy, upscale, and perfect for a special night out. Service was attentive and professional throughout, and the pricing felt fair for the quality and setting. My steak was cooked perfectly and full of flavor, but unfortunately, my girlfriend’s New York strip came out significantly overcooked, which was disappointing. Additionally, the mashed potatoes left a lot to be desired for both of us—bland and unappetizing. Despite a couple of missteps with the food, the overall experience was still very enjoyable. With just a few tweaks, this could easily be a 5-star spot. Still highly recommended! Oh, and try the wagu meatballs. They are AMAZING!

We’ve been to The Hearsay on the Strand a few times but this time it was for my daughter’s 15th birthday dinner with her friends. Our server was attentive and they really took care of us. Food was decent. Portion sizes are generous. I had the ahi tuna tacos, and they were flavorful. The kids enjoyed their food as well. We will definitely be back again if we’re in the area.

Had a 7:00 reservation on a Friday night. Parking on the street in front of the restaurant is free after 6. Found a spot close and were seated right away. Greeted by staff right away. Our server Sam Sr. was professional and friendly and answered all our questions. He made our experience top notch. We had the gumbo and AVO cucumber salad prior to our meal. Both were excellent. The sherry vinaigrette is delicious. We had short ribs and the cheeseburger for entrees. I will definitely dream about the short ribs. The flavor combo of the ribs and cheese grits and brussel sprouts was phenomenal. My daughter doesn’t like Brussels and she loved these. Every thing was perfectly seasoned. Cheeseburger has a touch of smoke flavor if you like that. The veggies on the burger were thick fresh and crisp. Parmesan fries were more on the crispy side which we like and not overly strong with the rosemary flavor. We were too stuffed to get dessert. Will definitely be back and trying the Beaumont location when it opens!

Nick was an amazing waiter! The Balanisian cocktail was amazing and paired perfectly with the fish tacos. This is a great spot for good quality, food and high-end cocktails in the Strand!

Google
We had an incredible dinner thanks to Nick! From start to finish, his service was top-notch — attentive, friendly, and professional. He went above and beyond to accommodate our party of 9 with ease and made sure everyone was well taken care of. The food was amazing, and Nick’s energy made the night even more memorable. Highly recommend requesting him if you want an exceptional dining experience!

Great atmosphere, great food, but even more amazing service from Samuel Guzman. He was always happy to make our dining experience unforgettable, even helping me to find a new favorite dish and sauce. Get this man a raise!

We came here on New Year’s Eve, unaware that we had booked a table for their New Year’s Eve limited menu four course dinner that was pretty pricey ($75/person). We booked through Open Table where it did not say anything about it being a special event so we found that disingenuous. The food was good but not what I intended/expected to order before arriving. There was a table of women behind us who were also obviously surprised by the special menu too because they ended up ordering drinks only and left. The service was great though, our server was fantastic and fast.

We had lunch at Hearsay on the Strand, and it was a fantastic experience. The vibe was great, and the food was excellent. We really enjoyed our meal, and the staff provided outstanding service. If we ever return to Galveston, I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The service and the food were exceptional. The GM, Mr. Ozzy help out with the reservation and make sure we were well attended during our romantic dinner. The drinks and steaks were delicious!! very recommended!!

Yelp
Celebrated a birthday dinner! It was so nice. Service was excellent. Our waiter was very warm and gave great's recommendations. I forgot his name sadly. The food was fantastic! Favorite dish was the salmon, which was cooked so well. The cheese board appetizer was perfect for sharing too. For dessert, they gave us 2 complimentary dishes! So sweet of them!! Loved how they paired it with a mini ice cream tub! They also seated us in a private room on the first floor since there were young kids in our group. It was such a great way to have an intimate dinner without having to worry about noise. The restaurant is elegant and clean with a ton of varied seating options. We were able to find parking a block away, but sometimes it can be hard to find a spot since it's right in the middle of downtown

Yelp
Space is very unique and brings a cool vibe to the Strand, but the food didn't quite meet expectations. Menu is diverse but the execution just wasn't it for me. I was expecting more upscale food from the menu and it seemed very 'frozen food' to me. Service was hit and miss, we were left waiting on our server for quite a while after the meal was finished.

Yelp
Food was fantastic, service was really sad. So... our visit was a bit bipolar. The food was fantastic but the service was so bad that it took away from our experience. We entered and immediately loved the atmosphere-we felt like we had found our place. We stood at the hostess stand for a bit, long enough that we started looking around to see if we were supposed to seat ourselves but nothing indicated such so we waited. Finally an employee arrived and asked us how many and asked how many children's menus. Despite telling her one children's menu she gave my 15yo a children's menu too. I laughed it off.. kinda silly. We sat there for a good 10-13 mins and noticed others around us not being tended to but thought maybe they were just boring people. Finally the gal who seated us came and asked if we wanted water. So we said yes. The lady who seat it is, then returned with water and asked if we wanted drinks, so we order drinks. And at that time we also ordered two appetizers. The appetizers finally showed up and it was a lot longer than what we would've expected and the bread board was missing butter, and it wasn't even there, and the fritters were very dense and undercooked. But the Mocktail and cocktails still have not shown up and she returned to get our dinner order and when I said we had Marie Seider drinks, she looked confused at me, but we were watching the bartender the drinks and not been made so it seemed she had not put them in. When she finally brought them, my cocktail was fine, but my daughters Mocktail had none of the ingredients described on the menu. She literally did not drink more than two sips of that and the waitress never commented on it. Nor did you comment on the footers that were cut open and half cooked. Once our drinks, Erato as we ordered our main meals and they all arrived, and we're tasty, and it was really pleased with what I had which was the red fish tacos at side of street corn, and a bowl was phenomenal. But again I had ordered a Chardonnay to come with the red fish tacos, and it was 20 minutes before I got that Sade and it was after manager coming to check on us. I don't know what the meltdown was on our service, but while we were waiting for our food, I saw table get seated, and I saw that same table, get up and leave because nobody tended to them. I commented to what appeared to be the manager, when he came to our table, that they needed to work on their service, and it appeared that he went and chastised our waitress, but it doesn't seem like anything was really done. So I kind of question the management in this place -our server was nice enough, but just seemed hapless. If I went back I'd recommend sitting at the bar.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! The food was delicious and service was wonderful. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The charcuterie board with a Bavarian pretzel was a do not miss appetizer!

Karis P.

Yelp
I love the happy hour here! $8 bites, $6 wine, $7 premium wells, $10 cocktails. I love a good food and drink deal. We got the cheesesteak egg rolls, short rib tacos, and bacon jam deviled eggs and it's always so. I order this every time I come for happy hour. For dinner, I really enjoyed their scallops, they were cooked perfectly! I love the aesthetics of this place with their light fixtures and chandelier and it makes for great photos. The place also has plenty of seating with a balcony and upper level as well. Servers are great and management even came to check on us! I've been here multiple times and will keep coming back for happy hour and their scallops dinner.

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Super nice restaurant that is both casual and upscale! The inside has two stories with a small private dining room on the first floor, as well as a large private are on the second floor. The ceilings are so high with beautiful chandeliers and lights! A variety of table seating, high tables, large and small tables. Service is ex Had dinner on a weekday evening and krdered the charcuterie board for an appetizer, which was beautiful in presentation! I loved how the meats were inside the pretzel, and it came with 3 different sauces! The artisan bread basket was also great to share! The salmon entree was so delicious- lots of vegetables and flavor! The tacos were so nicely plated! And there are 4 with a side of corn! Both were very filling!

Yelp
Hearsay on The Strand is an absolute gem! From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the chic antique decor that seamlessly blends history with modern design, creating an ambiance that's truly one-of-a-kind. This place has a knack for elevating your dining experience, no matter the occasion. Whether you're sealing a business deal over lunch, unwinding with friends during happy hour, or marking a special event in one of their private rooms, Hearsay caters to it all. The eclectic American cuisine, custom craft cocktails, and the carefully curated playlists add an extra layer of charm to this already fantastic setting. We kicked off our evening with their Hearsay Old Fashions, and let me tell you, they set the bar high! These cocktails were not just drinks; they were an experience in themselves. For my main course, I opted for the Seared Atlantic Salmon with grilled squash, crispy corn cake, crab, and dill cream sauce. It was a symphony of flavors on my plate! The salmon was perfectly seared to a tender, flaky perfection, and the accompaniments brought out its natural richness. The crab and dill cream sauce added a delightful twist that left my taste buds dancing. If you're looking for a place that combines exquisite cuisine with an unforgettable ambiance, Hearsay on The Strand is where you want to be. It's an absolute must-visit, and I can't wait to return for more memorable meals and colorful conversations. Your taste buds and your Instagram feed will thank you!

Yelp
Great food and wine! I have gotten a steak and a charcuterie board. Both excellent!! I love to come here the night before a cruise. Great location too to walk your steak off downtown afterwards!

Yelp
If you want to see a place that is Instagram worthy for a picture. Then you need to find away to get to Hearsay on the Strand. The majestic looking bar and the sparkling chandelier draws you into a picturesque dining area. When it comes to service, our server Devin was great. He gave really good recommendations, and answered all of our questions. I throughly enjoyed my time here. Cheesesteak egg rolls- Love the crispy shell, and it had the with the right amount of cheese &meat packed inside. Deviled eggs (6pcs)- I feel this was prepared good.. But to me it was slightly heavy, on the mustard side of things though. As for the caviar on top. It added no flavor to the dish, but I guess it look pretty. Beef short rib- very tasty dish.. Beef was super tender, and the braised sauce was perfect. The mash potatoes that the beef rested on was really good. Blackened red fish tacos (4pcs)- small hand size tacos that are stuffed with fresh ingredients and tasty seasoned fish. Came with a side of street corn Bread pudding- Nice warm moist piece of bread pudding can never go wrong, especially when paired with ice cream. Smoke old fashion- perfect

Yelp
Wish I could give zero stars. We walked in with a group of eight there was very few people in the restaurant. We asked for a table for a drink and appetizers and they refused to seat us. Told me we could figure out how to sit at the bar. When we asked any additional questions, the hostess acted very put out and basically started helping other people instead of talk to us. We just left and we went to someplace that was more welcoming. I'll never go back.

Heather L.

Yelp
This WAY exceeded my expectations. The best service I've had in a very long time. Our waitress was the sweetest and very knowledgeable of the menu. She made fantastic recommendations and was extremely well trained and professional. The food was phenomenal and so playful and creative. The best drink I've had in terms of creativity and quality. They did not skimp. Very strong. But so smooth. They made our anniversary special with a complimentary dessert as well. We will definitely be back.

T N.

Yelp
Exceptional service and without a doubt the very best Mojito I've had in the country, get the top shelf. The food is exceptional and the service amazing. They are true foodies in this place. Great atmosphere to boot. lots of gluten-free options.

Claudia F.

Yelp
I love this place the atmosphere is so amazing the staff is nice too which always makes the experience better ! Our server was very attentive and helpful the food was great i loved the pasta i thought the portion was a bit small but once i finished eating i was full , the drinks were delicious and refreshing. I would recommend this place to anyone

Yelp
Came here for a celebration dinner and had a wonderful time. The restaurant is in a beautiful space and had some great food and drinks to accompany it. We first got there during happy hour. Our table wasn't ready yet so we sat at the bar and got drinks. The Galveston brewing company lager was great, as was the blueberry cider if you're into that! I was really disappointed by the cherry limeade. I've always loved that flavor combination, but this cider was extremely sour and tasted like cough medicine. The food here was also tasty! We started with all four happy hour appetizer bites. All were good but nothing special. I would say the nachos was the tastiest and while the deviled eggs were good, what took them over the top was the pickled onions and jalapeños on top. The entrees were good quality, but a little on the pricey side. I got the double pork chops with sweet potato wedges and substituted the green beans with Brussel sprouts. Everything was quite tasty but the pork chops were a little on the dry side. The brussel sprouts were seasoned well and nicely crisped, so would definitely recommend those. My friends got the kale and currant salad with salmon, chicken Milanese, and the hearsay cheeseburger. The salmon was slightly undercooked but everything was good. Out of all these options, the cheeseburger was the best in quality and in price. The patty was super juicy and the toppings just made it a great burger. What sent this dish over the top was the fries. A fantastic crunch combined with a soft inside and great seasoning made this whole dish an extremely enjoyable meal. Overall a good place to eat. Great vibes, good food and drink, and decent service. Would definitely recommend the hearsay cheeseburger!

Yelp
I went to Hearsay on the Strand during Galveston restaurant week. Which was a great deal since I was able to try their specialize menu without having to break my piggy bank. I went with a friend and was able to taste more food. With the Galveston restaurant week, we got 3 course $36 plus tax and tips. This is an amazing special as you can try a variety for a good price. Let's start with the appetizers. The Kung Pao shrimp and calamari was pretty yummy. The seafood was fresh coated in a crispy batter. It was then toss in this sauce with peppers and onions. The gulf coast gumbo was decent. However the one downside was that it was quite salty. For the entree, the crab crusted red fish was pretty yummy the fish was fresh and the sauce fits perfectly with the fish. The Bistro Au Poivre was also pretty yummy also. The green been are yummy and probably my favorite. However once again it was very salty. At times it felt like I was eating a spoon full of salt. For dessert, the bread pudding was pretty yummy. It help counter the saltiness from the entrees. I would recommend the bread pudding over the crepe. The restaurant has is a nice fancy vibe. When you walk in it feel like you are at a fancy, boujee restaurant. The darkness pair with chandelier created an elegant vibe. The service was pretty good. We were greeted and the whole team was very professional and made us feel welcome. The food came out quickly.

Yelp
We've discovered the 30-Minute Express Lunch Menu at Hearsay! We work near the Strand and this is awesome! For less than $20 we get a delicious, quick meal that includes a drink. The menu has plenty of items on it so we can switch it up. Haven't had anything that wasn't tasty. The Hearsay Cheeseburger is the best burger in Galveston....not even lying. My go-to lunch is the Seasonal Harvest Salad and Poblano Soup, but you can't go wrong ordering anything on the Express Lunch Menu.

Abigail W.

Yelp
If you are looking for an upscale night out, there are so many worthy spots in Galveston. But the Hearsay is near the top of the list! The restaurant is absolutely stunning. It's romantic, and the staff go above and beyond to really make you feel special. I love this location because you can leave dinner and have a nice walk down the Strand or walk over to the park on the water. The food is of course, expensive, but you pay for so much more than just the food. Besides, it's worth it! You will get a well made dinner, with enough to take home. The menu is well selected, with something for everyone, and is a good mix of Texas and coast.

Tammi K.

Yelp
OH MY GOODNIGHT!!!! This place is a must. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits and my hubby had the filet. This is some of the best food I've had. The deviled eggs appetizer was so good. The shrimp and grits are amazing and the filet was delicious and perfectly cooked. I can't express enough how good this place is. If you're in Galveston this is a must try. I actually stopped eating to post this review!!!! You HAVE to try the jalapeño cocktail!!!!!! It's out of this world. The service is great and we loved the ambiance and decor. We will definitely be back $!!!! PS.... In our family we have a your choice of bday meal. This will now be my GO TO!!!!

Priscila P.

Yelp
BAD SERVICE! Our waitress only dropped off our drinks and food and never came back for refills or even asked if we need anything. The food was good though I recommend the gumbo! The place is nice and clean. Just didn't like the service from our waitress!!

Alli S.

Yelp
Atmosphere sucked. It was fine. Service was fine. Just had higher hopes for this place and it did not deliver. The spinach dip and the Whitney drink were sub par.

Carol S.

Yelp
This place is special. An elevated atmosphere in The Strand. Island elegance is how I would describe the atmosphere. We stopped in for the Bloody Mary and will be back for so much more! I see a Smokey Old Fashioned in our future! The food offerings are great and the bartender was the best we have encountered in the Island. Personable and attentive even though she was very busy. Highly recommend this establishment. This will be one of our "must visit" stops whenever we come to Galveston!!

Justin A.

Yelp
the food was delicious and the staff was polite from the second me and my friends walked inside. we made sure to reserve seats since i've heard it gets packed but luckily it wasn't too busy. definitely coming back!!!

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
We came to Hearsay for my birthday dinner! We all enjoyed our meal. The service was top notch and the food was amazing. My husband and sister in law had the shrimp and grits, my brother in law had the scallops and I had the filet- all were delicious!!

Luis Q.

Yelp
Stopped by with my fiancée for Steak night on Thursday. The whole experience was fantastic! Starting with the hostess greeting us with a big smile, our server/bartender Matt was on top of everything, I requested a couple drinks of the menu and he was able to make them without a problem. The food was outstanding as well, our steaks were cooked to perfection topped with the lemon butter crab. The manager Ozzy checked on us multiple times and even opened the bottle of Prosseco that we ordered. Overall 10 out 10.

Germaine B. B.

Yelp
Wow! UPDATE: FEB 11th. Sorry to the Heavy Set BarTender Dude who was in a complete and utter grotesque mood last night. This review is based off of SERVICE or lack their of. I didn't know that if you piss a Bartender off because you are trying to squeeze into the bar for service and drop a manager's Name, that a patron CAN NO LONGER GET SERVED. Now, I kept my cool and was a lady but this Bar Tender was a major Dick Hole. Very condescending and then told all the other Bar Tenders to not serve me and my date. I get it. You hate your job and it's Galveston Madi Gras time and some peeps can be rude and obnoxious. However, we were immediately jumped on and attacked by this goon. And to make matters worse, I went to one Manager and complained and said, hey that is not cool. We understand policy and fire traps near the bar and complied and the other ladies even scooted down. But that was not good enough. How dare anyone take that power and position not to serve a patron. Tough times on manners and patience. If you don't like your job, Even in the busiest of times, go somewhere else! Namaste!!! Forks down last night for real Hearsay. :-( :-(

Kamila R.

Yelp
Can't decide if I should rave about the meal or the service because both were top notch! We wanted to enjoy the nice weather and took advantage of their outdoor seating while indulging in their lunch menu. I'm already thinking about going back to try the full menu. They had extensive offerings and so many recommendations. Our server (didn't catch her name) was wonderful. Ozzy the manager was extremely attentive and made sure our experience was superb. Food was amazing, drinks were great, quick service. Absolutely recommend :)

Krista H.

Yelp
Nice old school ambiance with a modern menu The restaurant is on the strand in an old school Galveston building. It was colder outside, so the doors were open & the music drifted in from the bar across the street. Food was solid. My bacon wrapped shrimp were not the best, but very good. The bread & deviled eggs appetizers were great. My friend had the ahi tacos & they looked very good. The boys had burgers & both loved them. I'd go back.

Anthony E.

Yelp
My wife and I tried this place for the first time today. It was delicious!!!!!!! The waiter Chris was awesome! He was very attentive and polite. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and I had the Short Rib Hash. All I have to say is mmmm. The atmosphere was nice and calm. It felt like we walked into a restaurant in a different city and time. Very classy. Thank y'all for such a wonderful experience.

Mansi D.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday afternoon for a birthday lunch. There were about 15 of us that had a lovely table in the middle of the restaurant. The inside is absolutely beautiful, and it was made better by the Christmas decorations that really get you into the holiday spirit. The service in the beginning was a bit slow as it took a while to get a hold of someone to take our orders. It also took a while for the food to come out, but this was expected considering there were so many of us. One of my friends had asked for pickles that never came out until reminding the staff again after 15 minutes. I would say the place is on the pricier side, but I do have to acknowledge that there were a good variety of vegetarian options. I ended up ordering the watermelon poke tostadas. I was pleasantly surprised by the texture and taste of the watermelon, and I really liked the gochujang aioli. However, the tostadas were quite soggy when they had come out, which ruined the texture and experience of the meal. Everyone else seemed to enjoy what they ordered, and the portion sizes were decent. Although I wasn't a huge fan, I am definitely willing to give some of the other vegetarian options on the menu a taste

Mark C.

Yelp
They offer good selection of gluten free options for the SO which was nice and the reason we chose them for dinner that night. On par with the Houston locations and would recommend.

Eddie N.

Yelp
Get the Salmon if you are remotely close. Say 50 miles or more so. It's that good. Best I've ever had and I've had a lot. Don't know too much about the rest of the menu. First time visitor and I live here. Service was impeccable as well.

Felicia L.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is super catchy! It's fun and updated! We loved it. The staff is super friendly and nice but I would recommend more smiles! My only issue is the food is meh. Somethings are amazing and taste delicious but then you have some other items that are just ok. The poached eggs were over cooked and the omelette had little to no inside meat or ingredients. Overall I would visit again but maybe make different food choices. The fish tacos were amazing so I do recommend those! Give them a try!

Irma D.

Yelp
Made an OpenTable reservation, looking for a place to be classy. Place did NOT disappoint! I only got to eat one of my ahi tuna tacos because our charcuterie board was never ending meat and cheese heaven. Drinks were a perfect combination of flavor. Excellent views both inside and out.

Taylor S.

Yelp
The food is delicious and the staff is knowledgeable and kind. The crab crusted red fish is incredible! The crab is fresh and flavorful, the fish is mild and clearly fresh and cooked to perfection. Ozzie the manager is warm and welcoming, Sierrah was knowledgeable of the menu and had great recommendations.

Alicia K.

Yelp
What amazing place in Galveston! Location is wonderful - right on the Strand, so a stroll through shops before and after is possible. Beautiful eclectic and antique decor inside. The food was Phenomenal! - lots of gluten free options clearly marked. Service was friendly and attentive. Their menu includes both brunch and lunch items, so there's something for everyone. Will be back again next time we are in town!

Karla R.

Yelp
We loved this place!! We found it on Yelp while visiting The building is beautiful Our server was great The filet was the best ever and half price on Thursday

Anthony S.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice the wife and I grabbed a valentines day lunch there food was great quality price is respectable for the quality

Justin M.

Yelp
This place looks really nice - great decoration. Unfortunately, from there things didn't live up to that level. I booked a reservation here for an anniversary dinner last night and noted that is what the occasion was. Hostess sat us right next to the bar, at a high top, with a group of 20 people having a party next to us (there were lots of tables up stairs that were open). Then, no waiter for 20 min. to the point where we contemplated leaving. We started with the charcuterie board. It has some good tasting things but seemed confused as to whether it wanted to be a Texas/German board (pretzel, bbq, cheese sauce) board or a traditional one (candied nuts, fruits, cheese). Either would be great - together they don't quite go. Main course was a redfish sandwich. The bread and fish were good but the slaw could use some acidity to it to contrast. Fries (mix of potato, tots, and sweet potato) were good but needed a bit longer in the fryer. Overall, the place looks nice but doesn't quite live up to those looks.

Erin V.

Yelp
We went for brunch there. Great upscale atmosphere. Waitstaff was super friendly and helpful. I ordered the steak & eggs and my husband ordered a hamburger. Steak was a good and tender cut and cooked perfectly as ordered. I ordered eggs over medium (love a runny yolk) but eggs came out hard. Otherwise a great experience and would recommend and go back

Megan C.

Yelp
My sister and I went to Hearsay when I was in town for the weekend and wow. The food is absolutely amazing. We both got two drinks from the bar and the mixologist did an amazing job making our drinks. We ordered red fish tacos and split it. By far the best fish tacos I have ever had and I love ordering fish tacos from a bunch of different places. MOST IMPORTANTLY if you visit, you must ask for the waitress names CLAIRE. Besides the food and drinks she was the highlight of our visit. She gave us 5 star service!

Ethan T.

Yelp
Went here for brunch with a large group of friends. The ambiance was good, there is a lot of natural lighting and the high ceilings were cool. When it comes to the service our waiter was polite and kind and there really isn't anything to complain about there. The food is where this place really started to fall apart. I got the steak and eggs and the medium rare steak was so tough that it was challenging to cut with a steak knife and harder yet to chew. Additionally, the potatoes that came with the meal seemed like they came from a frozen-thawed hotel continental breakfast. Not what I hoped for from a $28 menu item. After talking with my friends, not one person was happy with the meal they received. The last issue I had was when the checks eventually came, I noticed a 20% gratuity was included on the bill. I know this is normal for large parties at a restaurant and I had no issue with it, but the waiter came around with the kiosk to handle the payment and it had a screen that requested a second tip. I said "Wait I just want to make sure, the gratuity is already included right?" and he told me it was so I hit 0% on the screen. The way the kiosk was presented and the fact that I had to ask about the tip made this interaction quite uncomfortable and it was not a nice way to end an already negative dining experience. If you are considering eating here I would strongly urge you to spend your hard-earned money elsewhere.

Alex W.

Yelp
OK... I know that this place isn't probably the quintessential gulf seafood joint you think about when visiting Galveston, but if you enjoy a delicious cocktail and exceptional food, you have to have at least one meal or drink here! I could go on about all the ways that I was impressed with Hearsay. It is their use of elevated ingredients and unique touches that make this place exceptional. If you appreciate bourbon cocktails, the smoked old fashion pictured here was delicious And the presentation of it being delivered in a smoked filled box was impressive. The bar manager told me that they made 692 of them just in December if that tells you how popular they are! My dad said it might be the best one he has ever had. I truly enjoyed the Manhattan sitting next to it. Their house bourbon is Woodford Reserve that they infuse with roasted almonds, chamomile, and saffron. Are you kidding me?! My mom was obsessed with her lemon drop and none of us could get over the beautiful ambience of the bar and restaurant overall. I wish the upstairs was accessible because it looks like they have a beautiful private area inside their wine cellar, a large area for private gatherings, and even a balcony to look out on historic Strand. However, I understand it's difficult with historic properties. In addition to the amazing cocktails we had at Hearsay, let me tell you about our meal! This 12 oz ribeye with sides was the special and it was superb. The steak with herb butter was juicy and tender. However, the star of the plate was the garlic blistered green beans! They were SO good. Next up we had the chicken sandwich and I'm pretty sure it could feed a family of four. The thing was HUGE. The chicken might itself was pounded pretty thin, so it was a little lost with all of the bread and other toppings. However, these house Rosemary Parmesan fries were a pretty delicious take on a classic. The blackened redfish tacos were light, flavorful, and filling since the order came with four of them! The street corn casserole that came as a side was amazing. After passing it around the table for samples, I'm surprised I got any back. Finally... That bread pudding. I don't know how you're going to do it, but you should save room for it. It was dense, and that hot caramel paired perfectly with that super smooth vanilla ice cream. I missed the crunchy elements that sometimes comes with a bread pudding, but this still was a delicious endcap to a pretty outstanding meal! The last thing that I will say is that the service was pretty great. Our server Oleh was very attentive and informative. Overall, great experience!

Yelp
Visited Friday 1/19 around 5:30 for hh with colleagues but there were no chairs available in the bar area so we asked the hostess for a table for 3. She said there were no tables available for us since we did not reserve a table ahead of time. I looked around and besides the busy bar area, the place was empty. Hostess added that the dinner rush is about to start and all tables were "pretty much booked" so unfortunately she cannot sit us. Fine; we left and went to another restaurant on the Strand. I stopped by a few hours later and what do you know, the "rush" that the hostess told us earlier was nowhere to be found. She could've easily seated us. I don't know what that was about!

Yelp
5-Stars All the Way! From the food to the service, everything was superb. Our group was 8+, and our waiter promptly brought out dish after dish matched with wine and cocktails. The Charcuterie Board was hands-down Excellent! It was Big, Beautiful, and just had a lot to offer. The Buffalo Shrimp is a MUST-HAVE! Big shrimp. Sticky sauce. Amazing flavor with a hint of Smoke. Once these bad boys came out, we cared less about the everything else that had been served! Blackened Redfish Tacos hit on point bite after bite! Perfectly cooked. Flakey, yet firm enough not to fall apart. Seasoning was perfection. Cocktails were made to precision! Those bartenders KNOW what they're doing!! Very Very IMPRESSED!! Ambiance is dark, historic, warm lighting, romantic but with an Industrial feel. The bar is pretty well lit but not overbearing, if anything it adds to the overall positive feel of the restaurant!!

Yelp
After such disappointing service at various bars and restaurants on the Strand we made our way for a formal dinner at Hearsay expecting the experience to be the opposite. Unfortunately our greeting by what looked like the shift manager and hostess at the door last night was less than welcoming. Very cold as we were told someone will help you then we watched the two chit chat. I know there are waits for tables but the greeting was not what it should have been from a place like this. Our great luck switched however after we took it upon ourselves to find seats at the bar. Travis, Will and Tyler turned our day around by giving us the best service and helping us enjoy the ambiance of this super chic place. The food was amazing, wine selection was great and the handcrafted cocktails are a reason to go back. And if you are lucky enough to be served by Travis, Will or Tyler you will truly enjoy your experience.
