We were lucky enough to have found this little Oasis in Lake Tahoe for Father's Day weekend, and frankly, we can't wait to come back for another visit. We booked a Deluxe King room that was comfortable, inviting, and cozy - more than enough room for us both and it had a lovely fireplace and kitchenette to boot that was stocked with coffee, teas, and fresh baked cookies each night! Each of the rooms is decorated in a different theme and the decor is fabulous. It's all the extra little touches and amenities that make or break a hotel, and this Lodge far exceeded anything that we were expecting.
I contacted the owners, Linda and Johan, a month before our visit because I recently had knee surgery and wasn't sure how I might be able to get up to the main lodge for check-in, etc. I needn't have worried. They were both so accomodating and helpful; Johan even installed an extra temporary grab bar in the shower for me, and Linda brought us a full ice bucket so I could keep ice on my knee.
Breakfast at the lodge was scrumptious! The first morning Linda served two quiches and the following morning she was serving up french toast for the guests, and you could dine indoors, out on the patio, or take breakfast back to your room. The breakfast buffet also included fresh fruit, sausages, cereals, bagels, yogurt, juices, and lots of hot fresh coffee.
At Happy Hour our hosts offered up wine, beer or a nice cocktail to the guests. Converstion around the outside fire pit was definitely lively which gave us an opportunity to meet some really lovely visitors. They were so welcoming at the Lodge that we felt like family there and really didn't want to leave, and kept coming up with excuses to stay later and later...LOL. I have to also thank the ladies in Housekeeping who were so kind to us.
While visiting the Lodge don't forget to visit Linda's collectibles shop just behind the main building that she has stocked with all sorts of treasures!
Overall our stay was a warm and wonderful experience and Linda and Johan have the set the bar quite high for other innkeepers because you can't fake kindness, consideration, or a real love for what they do for their guests at the Heavenly Valley Lodge!
