The Best Boudin in New Orleans and South Louisiana | Eater New Orleans

"Hebert’s has five locations, the closest two in Breaux Bridge, a good detour on a Lafayette road trip. Besides buying cracklins by the gallon, this is a one-stop for housemade sauces and pickles, local honey, gumbo base, spice blends, and boudin every which way." - Beth D’Addono

Traveling on i-10 for work, stopped in, on approach a lady was sitting outside smoking, I thought it was a customer, as I approached the store she got up and beat me to the door and went behind the counter, didnt wash her hands are anything. I looked around a bit, I wanted cracklins, I asked her if the crackling were hot, she says, "what you mean by hot", with an aggressive tone, so I said we'll are they warm. She hit on top of the equipment and said this is a warmer. I still proceeded to give them business in which I shouldn't have, cracklins were OK, I wouldn't stop again This lady should not be representing any business, dealing with customers directly, extremely rude

Google
I stop in about once a year whenever I’m heading to Baton Rouge La. The place never disappoints.

Google
Boudin balls were great. But the pork cracklin was dry and hard like they were from the day before. Hopefully it was just a bad batch.

Google
Some very good Cajun treats here! Their boudin is very good, their balls are some of the best I've ever had! I really liked the crawfish pistolettes as well, delicious. They also have frozen boudin and balls to take with you as well as a variety of sauces and jarred goods. Will definitely be back!

Google
Delicious boudin several types cracklins all in a nice setting even have a drive-thru window if you don't want to go in right off the highway. Excellent food for your pork heart attack lunch great treat every now and then

Google
Hebert's is well worth the drive from the New Orleans area. The service was excellent, the food made my tastebuds want to dance. I love the variety of items of items to by.

Google
Boudin is not good here. I eat boudin at every place that has it. This is a very different recipe. Cracklings could use more seasoning.

Google
Wow...Is THIS Place Set Up, or what!? My boyfriend and I are new to the local ways of Louisiana cooking and traditions. We tried some Boullya Balls (spelling?? Lol) and THEY are the BOMB! This establishment has a wide variety of anything you'll need for Crab Boil, etc. From Stock pots, to Seasoning! And lots inbetween. They are located at 2926 Grand Point Road. Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Stop reading this - Go and enjoy!

Yelp
Had a boudin link that was inexpensive and delicious! (Make sure to get a spoon or fork.)

Yelp
Pulled up at 5:45 pm.. after calling and verifying they close at 7:00 pm today 6/19/25.. door is locked , lights off .. lady out back smoking a cig and taking trash out.. if you're not staying open till 7:00 pm change the time .. went down the street to chicken on the bayou .. cheaper prices and was glad to serve us . .

Yelp
This was a random stop as I was a little early to my original destination. Pulled up in the drive thru and got a boudin link and hubs got cracklins. Hubby was ok with his Cracklin but that boudin link. Omg! How did I keep passing this place all this time? It was really good! I mean good enough that I'm mad at myself for not getting more. They ran out of boudin balls so I'll give that a try next time.

Mike J.

Yelp
I love this place! I've been coming here for years to get my favorite boudin balls. The staff is always friendly, the food is awesome. The simple design is very appealing. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The BEST boudin! Don't be fooled by the other little shacks around Henderson, this is the place you want to go to for boudin, sausage, crawfish pies, cracklin, and fried boudin balls.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
The boudin is great. Forget the crackling's bc they are nasty. Spent over $20 on a pound and threw them away.

Yelp
As a pretty committed vegan and vegetarian, I wondered how well I'd hold up on my first trip to New Orleans... but, on the way home, I had to stop and get authentic cracklins for the chirrins at home!! Oh how I wanted to grab a few boudin balls, and eat my whole back of cracklins.. but I didn't. LOL The kids however were BEYOND happy when I showed back up with a bag of fried pig fat. Customer service was stellar. The young woman working the counter was so sweet, and made simple conversation so pleasant. This was Monday 7/23, if her boss is reading. Picked up a few ooey-gooey cakes, and pralines too. Nice clean store, easy access, plenty of parking.. made it real easy!!

Yelp
I've gotten cracklings from this place multiple times. At least 3 times in last 4 days hoping for a different outcome. The cracklings are stale and almost impossible to eat. In a place like this where you got Billy's and Dons, they need to step their game up.
google avatar

Dia J.

Yelp
The mild boudan has still got a small kick to it!! Scrumptious!! That's all I can say!!!! Now we don't like the Cracklins, but that is just us. The boudan is out of this world! Will stop every time we come through here when we can!!! We made sandwiches out of ours in our semi! Absolutely wonderful!! The guy behind the counter is fabulous! They also have sauces, cook books, pots & pans for sale!! Love this place and will go back!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Let's just say I made an exception for cheat day.... If you are in dire need for some Boudin... Cracklin .... or whatever, if you are just plain ole hungry stop here, you will not be disappointed AT ALL. Truck parking is close construction to off ramp so be careful but it's worth the stop .... every time. Staff in very friendly as well very helpful !!!! Other location close by too with more truck parking

Yelp
We always come here to get fresh Boudin and Cracklins. Sometime Tazo. After eating at Crawfish town I'm surprised we still had room for one whole link as we were driving down the road. Just can't get enough!! Love this place !!
google avatar

Phoebe F.

Yelp
The lady who helped us was wonderful. Our 8 year old boy even gave her one of his "hard hugs" because the cracklings and tasso were so good. We also bought a pepper jack boudin ball and box of boudin. Cannot wait to try them! Definitely worth a stop.
google avatar

Fred D.

Yelp
Hebert's has delicious boudin in both the plain and smoked varieties. My favorite is the smoked boudin. The cracklings are meaty and well seasoned. The drive through window is very convenient.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Better than Don's... no joke!! Fresh food and friendly staff!! I always go on my way to New Orleans!! Must try the Tasso!!
google avatar

Ingrid A.

Yelp
Great Cracklings! I'm a fan of cracklings, they bring me childhood memories since my dad was on the business back in my country, he was the best in town. So I'm always looking for something greater or same quality as a the o es he just to makes. This ones are truly great!
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
First time having boudin and this place did not disappoint. We were traveling cross country and just happened across this place and we are planning on going back on our way back across. Cracklins were delicious a d the hot links were crispy and juicy.
google avatar

Robby S.

Yelp
First time here, asked if what I was ordering was spicy because I have medical problems, she said no...I eat it and have to spit it out it was so spicy. Go back and she wouldn't give a refund. Total crap
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
Best Boudin and cracklings I've ever had. I travel to go get my cases of Boudin to freeze so that can always have.
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
This use to be my favorite place, but lately the cracklings are way over cooked like they have been reheated multiple times or burnt. Unfortunately there are other place close by where the cracklings are much better. So we have started going elsewhere. We will try again in a few months and see if they improve.

Yelp
We usually stop at The Best Stop in Scott LA, and it's super awesome. This time we tried Hebert's drive through. I'm cajun-French; so I'm a bit bias. This place will definitely make you wanna "slap yo mama," if your into that lol. Hebert's even smelled amazing through the window, like smokey-goodness. The lady at the window was super nice, and said she got an amazing home coming from her doggies every evening due to her smell of cajun cookin. Overall, after driving from SA- take a stop about this way for: super nice peeps, great price(2.97 a link), and yummy boudin n cracklins! Def recommend!!

Tac A.

Yelp
The cracklin has higher than average price/lb, it was the worst I've had. The big pieces were cool but most of the pieces were completely meatless. It was also overcooked and hard as a rock. The meat that was there turned into a powdery mush in my mouth. The boudin was very average. Other shelf products were way over priced. If felt like a tourist trap. The only good thing of this place was the building itself.
google avatar

Mario O.

Yelp
We stop by here now when ever we can. Do this...at least a 1lbs of cracklings and 1 link smoked boudin. It's a game changer.
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing like stopping on way back to New Orleans for a small tray of fresh hot steaming boudin. Always fresh. Tastiest around. Located off inter state, drove through. Cut just right so I can enjoy on my ride home and will throw in a loaf of bread. When time allows neat store with old time cookware cast iron etc.

Megan C.

Yelp
Great flavor but im.sure it would have been better hot or atleast warm. I paid $25 for what I thought would be piping hot fresh Boudin. I noticed it was cold as if it just came out of a fridge as we were driving off. I returned and kindly asked the lady to heat it up. She asked if it was cold then went on to tell me that she turned the heat off to let it cool down. Again, I kindly asked her if there was a microwave or anyway to heat it up. She stated there was a microwave but no plates. I suggested we wrap it in a napkin which she did. She "heated" the links and have me back cold boudin. Not a good experience. I'm driving he to Baton Rouge from Texas and just wanted something good, quick and easy. I will not return to this location.

Monica G.

Yelp
The pepper jack boudin balls are amazing! We love them. We had to turn back and buy more. We bought six more. We wanted more but they only had frozen. We like them fresh. This will definitely be our go to place for the boudin balls.
google avatar

Nathaniel C.

Yelp
Nice service, good price, delicious food. Spicy. What more can you want? I guess a mild option?
google avatar

Shane F.

Yelp
Nothing like the boudin I'm used to south of I 10. The boudin here was more like rice dressing, and almost all rice. If I go back, it would be for the selection of cookware and utinsels instead of the food. Got a half pound of cracklins. Maybe only half of them were kinda fresh. The rest were hard and stale.
google avatar

Chase G.

Yelp
Best boudin at the Henderson / Cecilia exit! I'm a local Cajun, so I've had my share of boudin from most of the best places around. The smoked boudin is great here. The casing is cooked and easily eaten. The regular boudin is good also. I haven't tried the cracklin yet, but its on the list for next visit.
google avatar

Tammie W.

Yelp
Ordered 4 Pepperjack Boudin Balls Pound and a pound a half reg.boudin and a pound and a half smoked boudin. Came to $27 !! Boudin Balls were hard and had little strings of pepperjack. Couldn't even tell it was in there . Not impressed. Won't be back.

Yelp
We stopped here on the way to TX. Wish we would have gotten more cracklings. They went fast. They were so good- crunchy, meaty and warm. Stopped at Don's to get more - nope. They couldn't compare to Hebert's. We will be stopping on the way back. Hope they'll be open. Oh and the boudin was delicious too!
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
Stopped at several places for boudin and cracklings while in Baton Rouge and this was the best!
google avatar

Mo J.

Yelp
Fair boudin and cracklins. Not a local favorite, but good for tourists. More like boudin and cracklins on the Texas border than local Cajun products.
google avatar

Nina L.

Yelp
Stopped by on our way to Texas and it was THE BEST boudin we've ever had. We were a bit hesitant because of the empty parking lot, but we went in and asked for samples. Everything is good!! It's not overrated and not overpriced. If you want some good, country, food then you definitely need to stop here!!!
google avatar

Melissa H.

Yelp
We stopped on our way out of town from TX to FL and tried the smoked and regular boudin. The lady let me try a cracklin too! It was so good we had to stop on our way back too! The smoked boudin has a very strong smoke flavor; which my husband loved. I loved the regular boudin because I could taste the seasonings within it better than I could the smoked. I also bought the Hebert Cajun seasoning; which is quite tasty (I love Cajun and spicy). I got a 1/2 pound of cracklins too; which are crunchy and fresh. We had 2 different ladies the 2 times we stopped and both were so nice and you could tell they are from the area. It looks like a tiny house from the outside. This isn't a sit down and eat type of place- it's a order, they wrap it up and you take it to go type of place. You order by the pound= 1 pound is 2 links of boudin and 1/2 pound is 1 link. If you like Cajun spices and trying great boudin, then stop here on your way to whereever you are going!

Yelp
THE BEST Cracklin,Tasso&Boudin Balls!!! Seasoned to perfection with their own seasoning...it don't get no better than Hebert's.

Nicole S.

Yelp
This boudin is awesome...hands down! Rice to meat ratio is perfect. The spices are a bit hot but that's a good thing if you are into it. Has a drive thru but going into the shop is nice also. It's clean and interesting. There are local pickled items and honey for sale. Going to bookmark this place!

Heriberto M.

Yelp
amazing pepper jack ball boudin and the Cracklin were amazing; definitely the stop to do on I-10 when traveling to and from thru there...
google avatar

Mark N.

Yelp
Great rice to meat ratio but it ends there. I have had worse. May work for the tourists, but not for locals.
google avatar

Rosa L.

Yelp
Great fresh Cracklins. Super friendly. This town is worth a stop. They'll even tell you the best place to go for boudin. Also check out their amazing cast iron cooking tools. These people know their stuff and they are more than happy to help you choose. Great place.

Vicky D.

Yelp
Amazing food and service Jessie was very nice and offered me the sample of the crackling and they're hot and fresh I purchased a lb will return weekly. Thanks again Jessie

Yelp
Stopped here on July 25, 2015. I am from Arizona and wasn't too familiar with boudin. They gave me free samples of the regular and the smoked boudin. Both were fantastic! I chose the smoked boudin in a po-boy sandwich. Also grabbed some cracklins to go. Highly recommend this place. Super friendly and great food.

Brandon R.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. Do not buy the boudin balls!! They are garbage and are inedible. All breading comes off when you cook them. Such a waste of money.
