We waited about an hour and a half to get in. Small cafe with bar and table seating. Beware you will likely be sat with others if your group is smaller than four. Although the shop is over 45 years old, it’s clean and well maintained with an interesting interior and lighting. It’s run by an old man and his wife. They are known for his viral and unique way of serving pudding. I got the jumbo pudding set and it was about 600¥ for the pudding and iced tea. I found the tea and pudding very bitter and not very tasty. I would not recommend unless you want the experience and a video and photos for social media.

I have been going here for a long time , long before someone hyped it up the wazoo on social media. The place is located in the Nihonbashi area of Tokyo. The old couple who runs it are very very kind. My one gripe was it is a smoking allowed venue. The coffee and pudding set was around $6 and there are only 12 pudding a day and it is sold out. The caramel pudding is good, not overly sweet. Is it the best in the world? I won’t say that, but it is one I do enjoy. The place is really about this homey, local destination you’ll love to hang out and have a casual meet at with friends… until social media ruined for everyone.

Super cute people running this joint. Mr master was super friendly and nice. The lady helping run everything was also super nice. The pudding wasn't as good as I had hoped but still pretty good, I put a little sugar on top to balance the bitter Carmel and it was better. Let's be honest tho, you come here for the experience and to support this 80 year old badass of a man working his butt off to make it. Long lines like many places here suggest the need to arrive early, all in all a good experience. Thanks again for having us and being so friendly.

Open at 9am, Mon-Fri. came here 11am, g puddings are already gone neither do Sandwiches. only had coffee and lemon soda.

OK so this is charming as heck. The proprietor — God’s Left Hand, aka The Master — is in his 80s, and still gets up to serve the most delicious プリン🍮 (pudding) every day. I’ve tried a couple of times to come here but either the line was too long thanks to Instagram, or or my schedule was too busy, or it was closed. Today I got lucky. A tremendous storm the night before dropped the temperature into the 70s, so it was cool in the middle of Japanese summer. A true miracle. Miracle #2 is that the line was only around 5-10 minutes long instead of the usual hour-plus. I understand how Hekkerun works now: It’s basically a series of seatings, organized by the Master’s wife(?) who coordinates the outgoing and incoming. The interior is tight but seats about 20 including the bar counter. The waiter takes everyone’s order, hands them off to God’s Left Hand who then makes the sandwiches etc., while his assistant serves everyone water. I ordered a ham sandwich, while my wife and I both ordered purin and coffee sets for dessert. It takes a while to get your food and drinks, because it’s one man doing everything, but it’s not terrible. You get your food in waves, around 10-15 mins at a time, drinks first. There’s no video but you can take photos of the Master at the prescribed time — basically when it’s pudding time — and that’s when the action happens. A twist here, a shimmy there, God’s Left Hand jukes and wiggles his way through the entire room’s pudding orders all at once and it’s exactly what you expect if you’ve come here from Instagram. The pudding itself is the best my Japanese wife’s ever had. The caramelized sauce atop the pudding is smoky and just slightly bitter, as it should be, to offset the creamiest pudding you’ve ever had. It shouldn’t be smooth, like anindofu (almond pudding) and the slightly lumpy texture is luxurious in its mouthfeel. It Is So Good. Worth the wait if you have to, and I felt sorry for the group after us since the Master ran out of purin servings during our 11:30-12:30 group. The moral of the story: Arrive early!

We waited a bit over an hour to be seated, but honestly, it was perfectly reasonable since the place is run by an elderly couple. You cannot rush art. Both hosts were very very lovely, and the food was delicious! The honey lemon iced tea was very refreshing, and the pudding was silky smooth but the caramel was a touch on the bitter side. It was very entrancing to watch the master excel at his art. It was a delightful light snack & a show. I may be biased since I seemed to be his favourite customer from our group, but the wait was very well worth it.

Hekkelun Cafe in Tokyo is a charming retro style coffee shop known for its nostalgic atmosphere and standout desserts. Their coffee float is a delightful mix of bold siphon brewed coffee and creamy vanilla ice cream, perfectly balancing bitter and sweet flavours. The highlight, however, is their famous silky, oversized custard pudding with a rich caramel topping. Sadly they were sold out when we arrived. For a taste of classic Japanese cafe culture, Hekkelun is a must visit.

Hekkelun is a tiny coffee shop that fits approximately 12 to 18 people. Please leave 2-4 hours open if you plan on visiting Hekkelun. On the day of my visit, the customers next to me were seated at least half an hour before I was seated, but our puddings arrived at the same time. Not sure if it is a coincidence, but it seemed to me that food is served batch by batch so getting seated sooner does not mean your order will be fulfilled first. It's all about luck! As for the food, I loved everything I've ordered including the egg sandwich, the pudding and coffee. - Egg Sandwich was very flavorful and fluffy; it tasted like it was seasoned and mixed with Mayo, salt, butter and maybe black pepper. - Coffee was light to medium roast, brewed using a siphon coffee maker. - Pudding was the highlight; it's creamy, silky, rich, sweet and buttery all in one. Please keep in mind that video is not allowed and be mindful of your surrounding during your visit. There was a girl who tried to stand up to take pictures but bumped into the old lady who was trying to serve coffee. It was hot coffee too! I'm not in a position to judge but manner comes before pictures.

Cute cafe, is it worth a 2hr wait... maybe in the spring but def not when it's cold out. The pudding was alright, I personally like the egg sandwich more.. the service was not bad, cute elderly couple.

Tried the legendary pudding !!! It was yummmy! Small shop! They have other food and drinks too. Morning line ups are not too bad , I arrived half hr before they open!

Really great hole in the wall place - based on the recent viral popularity on tik tok, this place has attracted a lot of tourists. If you want the pudding, you have to come early as they WILL sell out. Expect to have to wait in line - there is only one guy making the pudding so the service is slow but so worth it!
