Heffe Tacos Review - Fishtown - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Heffe is a small taco stand and BYOB in Fishtown with a huge outdoor patio out front where you’ll eat said-tacos. During the winter, you can order everything to-go from the little window, and then run back to wherever you came from as fast as is possible without getting frostbite. But in the summer, you’ll want to stay awhile. There are bright red and yellow picnic tables scattered around the patio, and white string lights that come on when the sun goes down. Order a few tacos (the Almost Pastor is our favorite), bring a six pack, and discuss which bar you’re going to next." - Sydney McElwee

Heffe Tacos is a true gem! I've been driving past this place for years, and it was only recently that I decided to stop and give it a try. What a fantastic decision! From the moment I took my first bite of the Polo Yo Tacos and tried their mouthwatering chili, I knew I had discovered something special. The tacos here are not just food; they're a culinary masterpiece. Each one is bursting with flavor, and the variety of options is impressive. The freshness of the ingredients is evident, and the unique combinations are a pleasant surprise. The friendly staff and quick service make the dining experience even more enjoyable. And to top it all off, enjoying a Mexican coke with these delectable tacos is the perfect way to savor the experience. If you're a taco lover, this place is a must-visit. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delicious creations!

CASH ONLY. I’m giving benefit of doubt points to get to a 4. Really I’d give a 3.5. Tacos needed a tad more structure. Overall pretty tasty but I wouldn’t go crazy for it. Good over all. Service time is slow but only one grill.

Truly something for everyone - my son is a picky eater, I am vegan, and my Dad prefers classic street tacos. We all left full from the great items that fit our preferences. And the staff is so kind and generous. Highly recommend

Get the street taco experience! But there are picnic tables to sit at! Lots of creative options like a burrito with waffle fries in it! Cash only, but an ATM is right there. Dana said the El Pastor tacos were great. A little pricey.

Completely underwhelming. I had the Polo Yo and the Almost Pastor Tacos. The highlight was the entirely average tortillas. The fillings were both bland. The chicken is described as crispy, it wasn't and everything was drowned in a mountain of sprouts, radish, and raw red onion that killed everything in its path. I only went the one time to be fair and they were out of the Kraken which is what I really wanted to try so, maybe it was an off night but nothing I had made me want to go back.

Stumbled into this taco joint and we were definitely surprised! They are epic! Well seasoned, large portions, decent price, and friendly service. Their sauce was on point! The weather was warm so we sat outside, they have lots of benches.

They’re trying to be unique with their food options, but none of them are really working. They should add a few basic items and work on getting good at those. Also, every time I go they’re out of the item I want. Only good thing are the chips and pico.

As the sign says, these tacos really don’t suck! In fact, they’re some of the best I’ve had. Close to traditional Mexican street tacos, but with just the right amount of add-ins to elevate the flavors without losing the authenticity. Great sauces, and a good homemade hot sauce! I’ve tried a few tacos now, but the polo yo is still my favorite. Cash only!! No bathroom. Half off tacos on Tuesdays.

Yelp
New Mexican spot in Fishtown where heffe tacos used to be. This is an outdoor space with the option of self serve kiosks. There also seem to be QR codes that you can order from your phone. There is also an option to order with a human. Overall food was great. We were nervous about the price point but the quality and quantity of the meal made up for it. Love that they have veggie options for both the torta and tacos. The tacos árabe had some standard size tortillas and my partner was extremely full with his 3 tacos, so that was good. I could barely finish my torta, it had a generous amping of avocado and mushrooms. Super tasty! Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We got the Quesabirria Tacos and Al Pastor Tradicional Cemitas (puebla style sandwich) as well as the Arroz Con Tres Leches (rice pudding + tres leches + strawberries) for dessert. Everything was delicious but I thought it was slightly expensive considering it is "street style" and you get the food as takeout in disposable containers. $20 for 3 small tacos and $18 for 1 sandwich which looks nothing like they advertise on their instagram page. The stew with the Quesabirria tacos was especially super runny, usually it is supposed to have some richness to it. It was honestly like flavored water. The outdoor patio space is beautiful and cozy.

Yelp
Pretty good! The chips & guac were excellent. I got the chicken cemitas. I'd give this sandwich 4 stars. It wasn't that interesting, but fairly good. The mahi mahi tacos were very good

Yelp
Immaculate vibes. Outdoor seating with an indoor bar area available as well. Great service. They were fast and efficient. Delicious food. Doesn't get any better than that.

Yelp
Food quality was amazing! I did not realize it's a walk up window with outdoor seating only, but that didn't have a negative impact on the experience. You order on a tablet and wait for your name or they will text you. It was busy so it took a little while to get our tacos but they were very fresh and well worth the wait.

Yelp
Best authentic Mexican tacos in Philly, puts the mexican restaurants in NoLibs to shame. Exceptionally good tacos.
