Heff’s Burger & Bar

The food at the Heffs, Abilene mall doesn’t taste good and some of the servers are mediocre. I’ve gone there enough times just for food alone whether I dined in or out. Some of servers ask or suggest whether you’re ordering to go vs kindly/politely asking if you’re dining in or out. I’d rather go to the Heffs on Antilley Rd instead because the menu is bigger & customer service is of better quality. If you are a part of the veteran or military community, I don’t recommend patronizing this place. I have attached the QR code that they allow this DJ to use which encourages customers to tip him to boost their chances of singing and he states that he has no rotation because karaoke singing is first come first served & depending on the vibe, he will call you up to sing. He lays it all out in writing, but yet these establishments are complicit. One bartender suggested that I sign up on the paper slip vs QR code due to complications with signing up and I did that right away. A few other customers saw me patiently waiting, approached me and asked if I signed up. One customer was even willing to talk to him on my behalf because she knew him, but I opted to wait for him to do the right thing as a KJ by calling me up eventually. He never did and it was almost most over. He kept calling some of the same ppl up to the stage to sing and ppl who came in after me. Also people who were not even there. He was being antagonistic by testing my patience. After realizing that I was his last priority although I had arrived early enough, I left after waiting for nearly over 2 hours. I don’t recommend supporting Wednesday karaoke nights because they are complicit to this behavior and allowed Wildman DJ to treat a new customer unfairly while he showed favoritism to his friends, regular customers, or customers who tipped in advance just to sing. The DJ that will be filling in for him was there that night and was complicit as well. Neither the staff nor management stepped in to intervene. It takes a team effort to operate a business that offers food and entertainment. That means making sure that the customers satisfactorily received their requested food services before they leave. The perception is diversity/variety are not welcomed. They are doing the same old stuff they’ve been getting away with doing perhaps to keep the same people coming and certain people out by making them feel unwelcome and being non inclusive. Also, indirectly suggesting that they eat to go vs dining in to eat. It appears that they cater to country, rock, and Tejano music lovers. I’ve never heard or seen anything advertised about R&B, Jazz nor hip hop genres at this venue. What’s up with that? Nothing is exaggerated, this is a true account on what happened to me on what should have been a fun karaoke night. It’s not fair to gaslight my experience nor deflect to make me out to be negative just for actually shedding light on the truth about a true experience. Just be apologetic for what happened, fix it, and leave it at that. Telling me to go back to my big city, is not going to resolve the issue at hand if you want to look at the bigger picture. It’s just bad business and does not come across as a sincere apology. I’m just not going to return to your establishment. Thank you. Best wishes and deuces. I went for the Ozzy tribute. It was great. Service was lacking even 2-3 hours before the show but I think they were just overwhelmed.

Stooped in at the Abilene location hungry. Warmly greated and instructed to sit anywhere we liked. After a longer than average wait, during which staff determined who would serve us, Jessica stepped up and turned a bad experience into a really nice meal. The patty melt on marbled rye was nicely peppered and had that signature rye taste. The tots were crisp and hot. Jessica even remembered to bring mustard and ketchup. Well done team. Thanks for good food and good service.

First time eating here! Very very good food! The owner the staff truly good people! Definitely going to make this our stop for awesome food while in Abilene! When I got home back in Odessa! My baby in the phot at half of my chicken fried steak! Want to add don’t even need a knife to cut their chicken fried steak it’s so tender you can cut it with a fork! We dined in. They have a wonderful salad and desert bar! Me and my momma went in to eat! We fixed our salads while we waited for our food and there was so much to choose from on the salad bar we had to put our entire dinner in a to go box! Everything was so fresh and their onion rings are out of this world so so good! Everything nicely seasoned, cooked perfect! They make this wonderful chocolate pudding. I ate so much of that and my salad I was full! I highly recommend this restaurant! Love it when you find such good food and nice atmosphere! So so awesome, so glad we stopped there! This will probably be our stop to eat after our doctor appointment! I’m gonna eat something different every time will be back with more great photos! Also I want to add they have bands play every week!

We went there after church today. A couple of tables of people but pretty quite. Asked to sit outside since it was freezing inside. We then waited about 5 minutes for our waitress to come back. Ordered two hamburgers and two drinks. My wife got a Diet Coke instead of a Coke. It was replaced. I looked at my watch when the waitress walked into the building to place our order. It was 11:32. At noon I told my wife when it's been 30 minutes I'm going to find someone. Our waitress showed up with our burgers. 29 minutes to get 2 hamburgers. Totally unacceptable. The buns were cool. The table near us ordered about 5 minutes after us and got their meals way before we did. Scratch another place off our list to eat. Sadly our list is growing shorter each year. No one CARES anymore about good customer service!!!

Had a great lunch today at the mall location. I had the chicken avocado wrap with fries. Everything was so fresh and delicious!

It was a good music venue. We didn't order any food. But the stage and sound quality were good.

Daughter went in, placed an order, waited FORTY FIVE minutes with no food. Other orders coming and going. Finally asked about the order. It had been done for quite a while. Nobody decided to take it out or anything. Just left it chilling in the back. Food was cold, but I was working so I just had to deal with it. Said the cashier was nice and polite, but some older, short lady was being rude to everyone.

The burger was way too pink to one edge. The lighting is so poor I couldn't tell until I had eaten to that very edge. It really bothered me. Not going back.

Went for the potato twisters. Did not disappoint. Worth the trip! Everything else was good too.

These guys have earned the five star rating. The service was nice and it's a very clean restaurant but soon as we got here, we were welcomed with a waiter and our drinks came fast. They were nice and sweet and we're not rude at all. Therefore these guys have earned a five star rating.

We were greeted promptly and offered a table at the entrance, but were allowed to chose a seat anywhere. So we chose a table more inside. Our server was attentive w/o hovering. We ordered tea and appetizers. The tea was fine, and the food was good. Chips and salsa $2- the salsa had great flavor and a little kick. The chips were a little greasy. One bunch was stuck together in a clump. They were flaky and delicate. Queso put them to the test. And they broke into pieces if you tried to scoop. The cheese was yummy. Bacon wrapped jalapeño $8- served with ranch: yes please and thank you. No leftovers. Smothered cheese FF- $5: yeah, we ate all of that too. No leftovers!! Our server Ellisa was ever present and made sure everything was fine. Until we were ready for our check. Then we lost her. Maybe she was on break. Who knows. Doesn't matter. I wasn't in a hurry.

Went for lunch on a Friday the restaurant feels dirty and looks like a dive bar. Not a place I will want to go back to. Food was good. The service was subpar. They charged extra for every small thing and then charged us for things we didn't even get. I.e. they charged for Heff's sauce on a burger that comes with Heff's sauce but the burger came to the table without Heff's sauce. In the end go to the drive through option in north Abilene or else were This location is not well run and feel like it is a business that won't make it.

Best fried pickles I've ever had!!! So tasty with their ranch or heff's sauce. They are shaped like fries, which is unique and so good. Happy hour drink specials are pretty great. Tall shiner for $3.50. Speciality shots are good but a little pricy- we liked the oatmeal cookie shot. Servers are all very friendly and fun. We put off going here for a while bc it never stuck out to us and now I wish we'd gone sooner! Don't let the fact that it's in a mall discourage you from going. By the time you're sat at a table, you forget you're even in a mall.

The wait staff is absolutely awesome, especially the shorter, gray/white-ish haired lady, she really made it a point to ensure that we were happy with our experience. She recommended the chicken fried steak, and for appetizers, the fried mushrooms. These were serious mushrooms, not like the ones at the outback these weren't burnt up and tiny, they were perfectly cooked and the size of golf balls. Mmm they were so good. They had a band starting up while we were there, thought that was pretty cool.

Appetizers were good and the beer is ICE COLD! I am amazed that there is a place like this in a mall. Not near the mall, not attached to the mall... IN THE MALL. This is a full-scale bar with pool tables and a huge stage and dance floor for live music. I was tickled by a wine bar in Publix grocery store in Florida, now a full bar in the mall. Maybe we can get daquiris at the DMV next.

Trash food. Quick servers but they are the mercy of lousy cooks and even worse food. Our order came out completely wrong. She took food back and they just slapped what should have came on our burgers. Cold food, driest burger I have ever eaten and under cooked cold soggy fries. The mens restroom was most likely cleaned by the same cooks with the same standard of quality as their food. My son was too scared to go in. He ended up using the woman's with me standing guard. The waitstaff deserve better and should work somewhere less awful. Never going back and only going to recommend Heffs to people I hate and want to get food poisoning.

Walked in, nobody greeted us. Nobody told us if we were supposed to keep standing there or if we should seat ourselves so we found a table ourselves after standing there, and then aimlessly walking around confused for five minutes . All the tables were filthy. When we finally got a waitress, she brought us the wrong drinks because someone didn't sweeten the the that was made. We ordered a salad bar and she didn't bring us any plates so we had to go ask for them...the food wasn't that great at all. Very disappointing, don't see myself returning. This could be a great establishment if there was structure. I could not even tell who was actually working and who wasn't. Workers were just walking around on their phone texting and then hanging out outside or sitting in booths. Couldn't tell an employee from a customer. This place could be great, especially since they have the stage area and live band set ups. But the dinner time crew on a Friday night was not very professional at all.

Great burgers! Needed to find a place that had gluten-free options. So happy they had a burger in a bowl. We arrived when the place opened. It quickly got busy but our waitress was so attentive. We would return when we are back in town.

I came with 3 friends, 1 who was in town from Tennessee, to eat some good food. When we came in and sat down, we started to order our food (it was around 7pm Saturday night). The waitress informed us we would have to be out by 7:30 or pay $10 each, because they had a band that was going to be playing at 9 pm. I told the waitress we came to eat not to hear some country band we never heard of! She apologized and said that was the house rules! I couldn't believe that an establishment would have that kind of business practice! This is a bar and grille, not a friggin club! We came to eat, not to listen to some nobody country act! This is bad for business to force a patron to either pay $10 extra dollars for the entertainment and eat, or leave! Well we left and took our business elsewhere! I will not ever eat at the place again! I felt like I was being blackmailed by a greedy owner, in order to eat food!

Wish I could tell you about the food, never got any. We choose Hef's because it was close to the movies. We walked in to less than 5 people in the food area, about 5 at the bar. Our waitress greeted us quickly and we sat down. We told her we wanted what ever was quickest, we only had 30 minutes. The waitress told us everything was fast, because they weren't busy. We ordered a simply hamburger and BLT. The nice young lady brought my water. After 15 minutes she walked by and said your foods almost out, we never saw her again. It became time for the movie, so we told another young lady to cancel the order, as we had to go. 30 minutes, and nothing. I will say the staff was very nice, but I don't know what is going on in the kitchen. I do hope they can straighten things out, we have loved the food in past.

The night started off a little rocky, but Brenda and her crew were wonderful through it all. We had an amazing time watching Anjelique & Sweet City Band. Thank you Brenda we appreciate you!
