First time trying their rice rolls. It's really good and some of the rice rolls are made without rolling the meat inside the rice roll. I ordered the shrimp rice rolls and the shrimps were scattered outside the rice rolls compare to tradition rice rolls where the shrimps are inside the rice rolls. It's different but i still enjoyed it. The congee is hot and not too thick sometimes you find in other locations.

Not often to see any place that specializes in rice roll, so curious to try it out. Their rice roll was quite different from what we used to. We tried a relatively simple rice roll and their rice sheet was quite thin, which might not be that easy to be picked up by chopsticks. It was different, but tasted good. Great price for a quick snack. Tables were not that clean. We could have brought some wipe. Not the fault of this place or any other places, though. We would be interested to try other rice rolls.

Once you brave the chaos of this corner of the foodcourt you will be rewarded with a tidy tray of comforting rice rolls and soy milk for about $13. Will always have a bunch of orders ahead of you but orders come out fast. As far as rice rolls go this is one of my favourite place to get them. The rice sheet is thin and filling ratio is great. Soy sauce is sweet but you can balance with chilli oil or just add less of it. I like that they streamlined their operations so things come prepackaged and orders move quickly. I add lettuce bean sprouts and green onion which are free additions. Makes it a more balanced meal

Some great rice rolls located at this place. They are located on the second floor food court plaza of a shopping area. The wait was not long for us and we ordered a couple of rice rolls (one with beef and the other bbq pork) as well as a congee. The congee was decent, but the rice rolls were delicious. They also came with a couple of sauces that I highly suggest you use for the rice rolls.

Came around 11:30am on a Sunday. There was a long line up, but it moved fast. They put out a sign telling you the approximate wait time, buy it's grossly inaccurate. It listed 35 mins by the time I got to the front of the line, but it was probably closer to 1 hour of wait time. Ordered the beef, pork, and shrimp rice roll, scallop rice roll, and osmanthus fermented rice soy milk. Their rice rolls are overall very tasty. They have options for traditional rice roll or open faced rice rolls. I've tried both before and still prefer traditional wrapped. Rice rolls were made fresh and very silky texture. I've had the truffle rice rolls before and those are pretty tasty. First time trying the soy milk. The osmanthus fermented rice tasty is there, but not something I would order again. I love the dessert with osmanthus fermented rice, so this beverage was okay just not to my taste. Wait time aside, food is very good and would order again. Just order and go to another stall to order something else and eat while you wait for the rice rolls.

The I ordered the most popular rice roll (shrimp, meat and pork). The looks are not good, but the food did not disappointed. Fresh ingredients (although the shrimp is not devained), tasty rice roll noodle texture and seasoning. The chily oil is more leaning to hot than fragrant. Also, during Sunday lunch the wait time was 30-40 minutes.

A very crowded restaurant at Public Market. Almost need to line up every time. The wait time is more than 20 minutes in average. It is probably because they freshly steam your order. Not a bad thing, but as in a food court fast food style, I prefer not to wait for too long. Food is great. Not much service you can talk about a good court, but they are nice and gentle.

One of my favorite places to get rice rolls! I always add an egg to mine. it makes them so fluffy and soft. I bring my friends and family here whenever they visit. It’s located inside the Richmond Public Market Mall, and it can get very busy, especially during peak hours. The wait times can be long, but trust me. it’s totally worth it. They also have their own packaged soy sauce and hot chili oil, which is a must have combo for your rice rolls.

It's about a year since my last visit. I first learned about the place from several YouTube videos that I've watched. Last year, the rice roll was like the best rice roll that I've ever had. This time around, it's good but not the same as before. I ordered the 3 flavor rice roll and corn with minced beef congee. The rice roll is good but didn't taste as fresh as it was, or maybe it was overcooked? The minced beef congee though is great! It is flavorful and the corn adds some freshness to it

To be honest, after looking at photos of this rice roll online, I hesitated coming here because it doesn't look "pretty" like the restaurant dim sum rice rolls, and I doubted that they would taste that great. I'm glad I was wrong! Don't judge a rice roll by its looks. I got the prawn rice roll, and the rice wrap was thin, fresh, and very flavourful just one its own. I barely used any sauce. The prawns were very well seasoned and good quality. I ate the whole plate in one sitting. Took one star off the fish congee. I felt it lacked depth and there wasn't anything special about it.

October 31, 2025 - Next in the Vancouver food crawl, I headed to Richmond Public Market. I heard really good things about Hei Hei Rice Roll and how iconic it was, so I decided to give it a try. I got the minced beef rice roll. It tasted really good. It came with soy sauce you pour on top. The closest thing I can compare it to is a softer Cheng fun. The beef nice and soft and was easy to eat. No complaints. The rice rolls definitely lived up to the hype.

Food was really delicious, especially the freshly made Rice Roll. Tried the shrimp and bbq pork. Both were very fresh, yet will order a meat one next time. The shrimp one could use more shrimp. Service was quick and accurate. Would not expect more, it was a food court inside the Richmond Public Market. Ambiance was casual, food court seating, and clean. Most important was it was clean.

Probably the most popular stall in the Richmond Public Market offering rice rolls and porridge. After orderinng, food takes about 10-15 minutes to come out cuz it's freshly made. Food and drink are both delicious. I tried the rice roll with 2 toppings, fatty beef and shrimp CAD$12, and the osmanthus soy milk.

Rice rolls are soft and pillowy. Service is long as its so busy. Good protein to carb ratio, and the sweet soy is required. Its a loud and busy food court.

Today I had shrimp , vegetable , and chicken + mushroom. All tasted great. They give you their sauce in little packets now one comes with each roll and they offer chili sauce on the side as well. Multiple vegetarian options and many w/ meat. I like how they use a screen for your order # too so you don't need to stand close and wait.

Wow! This place is a MUST. I don't think I can eat just any rice rolls now. This place is the best rice rolls I've ever consumed. The noodles were so chewy and bouncy. The sauce they give you pairs incredibly well with the filling. This place is in a cafeteria ambiance so there is lots of seating. We did go during opening so not sure how it is when it's peak hours. I recommend going early so you don't have to wait long.

The rice rolls here are SOO good, the best I've ever had!! So good that I ate here 3 times during my short Vancouver trip. They are located upstairs in Richmond Public Market at a food stall. Service is pretty quick (on weekdays), although I would not expect a fancy dining experience here. During each visit I ordered R1 (rice rolls with shrimp, pork, and beef) with green onions and corn, and a sweet soy milk. Their wrapped style rice rolls tasted so silky and fresh, and almost feels like they just melt in your mouth. The soy sauce + chili oil that they have tastes soo good with the rolls too! Their sauce really adds to how yummy the rice rolls are. Truly so delicious and I wish I could eat this again. :( I also tried the century egg & pork congee on my first visit which was just okay. Felt a bit bland and could use some salt or white pepper. Didn't end up ordering this again, it was mid and the rice rolls were enough to fill me up. Highly recommend trying this place for their rice rolls!! I don't think I will ever consume a tastier rice roll for the rest of my life.. And don't forget to bring cash as they are cash only. :)

One of the best congee. I actually prefer HK style rice roll but they serve the Canton style rice roll but the mix sauce they used 混帳 were so tasty, ort no longer bother me. The congee was perfectly done. Very flavorful. Texture was good. Well done. I had the congee with pork stomach and liver with minced pork. Was really excellent. One of the best I've had. No wonder there is a huge line.

Been wanting to try this place for some time now. On a recent trip to Canada, we decided to spend a couple of nights in Richmond just to enjoy the Asian food scene. Hei Hei was one of the first stops and it did not disappoint! I loved the black truffle seafood rice roll. The minced beef rice roll was tasty too. Location is inside Richmond Public Market. Service was quick. Cash only so bring plenty!

Saw great reviews on this place. Went there on the way to airport. Definitely one of customer favorites. You can see lots of order, online, to go and dine in. Pretty simple menu and on the cheap side. Yoi can even customize the rice noodles. Tried BBQ Pork/Chasiu and Shrimp Rice Roll. Very tasty. Soy sauce and hot chilies oil come in prepackaged. Service is quite fast considering how many order ahead of me. Takes about 10-15min with 10-12 orders ahead of me. Ambiance is very typical Chinese/Asian Food Court. Place is clean. The janitors are all standing by waiting to clean and serve. First floor is the actual market with some restaurants. Free parking garage/parkade.

With a name like that, I expected a cheerful breakfast experience when I stumbled upon this food court spot in Richmond after a morning visit to the Passport Office. At 10 a.m., the food court had just opened. Foot traffic was minimal, and many stalls were still closed, lending the space a quiet, almost sleepy atmosphere. Hei Hei Rice Roll boasts stone-ground rice rolls made on-site. However, don't expect the traditional Cantonese-style rice rolls served at dim sum restaurants. Hei Hei's version is much thinner -- almost paper-thin -- and while that might appeal to some, I personally found them underwhelming despite the hype. The shrimp used in the rice rolls tasted like they had been previously frozen -- lacking the freshness and sweetness of good quality seafood. To make matters worse, green onions were omitted unless specifically requested, which felt like unnecessary corner-cutting. Presentation-wise, the food looked clean and modern, served in sleek white plastic containers alongside disposable wooden chopsticks. But environmentally conscious diners might take issue with the lack of recyclable or compostable materials -- everything was single-use plastic. The breakfast combo included their so-called Sampan Congee. It was lukewarm at best and fairly ordinary in taste. Typical condiments like white pepper were self-serve at the counter, while chili oil came in a portion cup -- again, only if you asked for it. It all felt a bit uninspired. Value-wise, this Hong Kong-style breakfast doesn't deliver. Given the basic ingredients and portion size, most menu items could have been priced at least 30-50% lower. But with mall food court rents -- especially in Richmond, where a large portion of the population is Asian -- perhaps inflated prices are inevitable. Ordering is done at the front counter, where the cashier was, frankly, emotionless. She spoke minimal English, and my Mandarin didn't get me very far. I later read online reviews commenting on the unfriendly service -- something I wish I'd seen beforehand. There are several other food vendors nearby offering more interesting and better-value dishes. I plan to check those out next time. As for Hei Hei Rice Roll -- it's a one-time visit for me.

I came here for lunch one day and it was delicious! Located in the Richmond Public Market, this stall offers a variety of rice rolls, congee, and soy milk. Service is pretty quick and there's plenty of tables in the food hall to enjoy your food. When I went, I got the beef and shrimp rice roll. You can also add different veggies, such as beansprouts and cabbage, to your rice rolls, which I love! The rice rolls were silky, fresh, and super warm. Definitely a comforting meal and I would 100% recommend.

Located inside Richmond Public Market, this is one of many food stalls. We ordered the make-your-own with char siu, sliced beef, and shrimp for 9.50CAD which is good value for the amount of food you get. Around 2pm Saturday, it was still a little busy, but we were able to get our food in 10 minutes. The rice noodle roll comes with soy sauce packet that you can pour whatever amount you wish, and fortunately, the sauce is not too salty and still packs a bit of sweetness. The rice noodle is cooked well and the ingredients are fairly generous. Overall, a fairly good execution of the dish.

Great texture from the rice noodle, bouncy and chewy yet breaks down nicely. Quantity was a bit lacklustre considering the 10$ price point. The sharp sweetness of the chilli pepper oil accompanied the meats phenomenally. Wait for the food was a bit long but the actual service was quick and efficient. Can't be the vibes of a Chinese strip mall food court.

Excellent, silky rice rolls! Ordered the beef and pork rice rolls with green onion topping -- and waited less than 15 mins (no line on a Friday at 5 PM). Cash only, but there's an ATM machine nearby. Plenty of seating in the food court area. Street parking was easy. The shopping center has decent bathrooms but no paper towels (hand dryers only).

I went to Richmond Public Market to try out some of recommended dishes from food influencers. Hei Hei Rice roll is pretty good for what it is. Located on 2nd floor, the wait line can be horrendous. Ordered the shrimp roll with added corn and bean sprout at no extra cost. Wait time around 25 mins... however I didnt get a chance to try it until this morning since I went on and on trying different tasty morsels yesterday. Reheated on a microwave this am, throw in the soy sauce and hot chili oil. It's still soft, tasty and subtle of sweet soy sauce, not overwhelming. Chili oil added umami and kick to the dish, I enjoy it. $9 CAD for ultimately a bed of rice rolls with enough baby shrimps, corn and beansprouts on it. You should try it but be mindful of the waiting time...

Eating my way from one place to another. Stopped by for stone ground rice roll and opted for shrimp rice noodle roll & sweetened soy milk. Service was quick but had to wait a few minutes (approx 6 mins) for my order. You order at the counter, pick up your order, and grab a table. They have many options at this food mall but it's not as nice or clean as some others. They consistently had customers filter in. They accept cash only. While the shrimp is not huge, their noodles are fresh and had great soft texture.

Hei Hei is one of the best rice rolls I've ever had. Recommend by a few Vancouver locals, Hei Hei is located in Richmond Public Market's food court on the upper level. During the two times I ordered food from this stall there was always a line up. And I can see why. Their rice rolls are so silky and smooth and they soak up the protein juices so well. When you added the soy sauce and chili oil its chefs kiss. I got the Beef, Pork and Shrimp Rice Roll which was one of the popular choice on Fantuan app. And I was the popular choice for a reason. I usually like a shrimp rice roll but this rice roll was a game changer. Loved all the different flavours and the beef and pork was so soft and just melted in my mouth. The food court and Richmond Public Market itself is a bit dated but very colourful. It is giving a bit of a 90s vibe. But it is a popular spot for local foodies. Highly recommend Hei Hei.

I'm not usually a big rice roll fan and this place has made me love them! Got an order of the pork and shrimp rice rolls. The rice rolls themselves were so fresh and soft. The shrimp and pork were packed full of flavor! You see them grind the rice up too which was fun. We went on a Sunday around 11am so the wait was a bit long (about 40-45 minutes) but definitely worth it.

Out of all the food stalls in Richmond Public Market, this one appealed to us the most because we love a good fresh rice roll. And they make them fresh because you can customize them. It'll take about 15 minutes. We ordered the beef, pork, and shrimp rice roll, and added an egg for $1.50. Free toppings include corn, bean sprouts, and scallion. It was a good rice roll, but I wish there was more meat and egg - or at least that it was more evenly distributed. The meat was all on one side, and the egg wasn't really spread out. $11 CAD seems a bit hefty, but it's comparable to NYC prices, so I'm used to the price tag. Tip - cash only

Wait line is very long (~40min )but I didn't mind since I got to walk around to the other food stalls while I waited to hear/see my number get called. Went with the #1 classic (beef/pork/shrimo) and the black truffle seafood. Both were amazing!! Definitely worth the wait.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is a rice roll specialist located at Richmond Public Market. Don't get me wrong, the food itself is 5 stars. The rice roll (aka cheong fun) is some of the best that I have had as it has a very silky texture, unlike other versions that I have tried. The wait is very long on weekends, as it can take 45 minutes before your order is ready. I would be okay with that amount of waiting time the first few times, but not every time. Try to come here on a weekday or at an off hour for faster service. They also have an online website to order beforehand, which would make the wait more bearable.

I have been missing this from my life for too long. Freshest rice rolls I've ever had and looked like lots of other people feel the same with how popular the place was. Cash only! Indoor dining area. Other food options available at the food court. Service was pretty quick and friendly. Restrooms are available. Checked out the shopping market on the 1st floor and saw lots of meat and seafood.

I got their shrimp and pork rice roll with corn niblets and bean sprouts. The rice roll itself was really good. It's super thin, which made the texture really nice for a soft mouth. The shrimp and pork left something to be desired though. The amount was lacking and they somehow didn't taste very fresh. Overall, the rice roll was good, but the flavours in it were lacking. Get a side of chili oil if you like it spicy! The service was average and there's nothing to say about the ambience as it's located in a food court.

The shop is located in an Asian food court. Getting there can be challenging, as the parking garage is super tight and street parking can sometimes be tough to find. The shop itself is unassuming but the staff are friendly. All of their rice rolls have amazing texture, and I'm a big fan of the soy sauce they provide for them. I've only had their congee once, but it was warm and comforting. The youtiao is decently crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. Hei Hei is a must-stop for my family and I every time we're headed up to Vancouver, and will continue to be (hopefully) for years to come.

Hei Hei Rice Roll is an absolutely 5/5! Located in the Richmond Public Market, this cash only spot is definitely worth a visit. The humble rice roll is customizable to your own preference, including the style that you want your ingredients (rolled inside or scraped on top). I chose minced pork and char siu, and opted for corn, bean sprouts, and green onion as my free toppings. The portion fills up the entire container and looked so perfectly rolled! I of course added soy sauce and chili oil before mixing everything together. I savored each and every bite of this and was so sad when I finally finished my order! The rice noodles were so smooth and silky, and all of the ingredients together were delicious with the soy sauce and chili oil that had soaked in. I wish there was a location closer to me in California! The wait wasn't long as they were making the noodles fresh and the service was efficient and quick. Once you get your order, there are plenty of tables available to sit down at, with a food court kind of vibe where you bus your own table once you're done. I will definitely visit again the next time I'm in Richmond. I've already recommended this place to friends and family who were eager to find out where these yummy looking photos were taken!

This food stall Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond market along Westminster road. They specialize in rice rolls of varied flavors you can choose from. Once you decide what to get, they offer free toppings like green onion, bean sprouts among others. You can even have it with congee. The rice roll we tried was the most popular one, beef, pork and shrimp. It comes with a packet of sauce that you pour over and may even ask for chili if you like. They are so good. Very flavorful. The rice roll they make is even different from the other places that make it. It's thin, with some texture or ridges and very soft. Will definitely try the other flavors next time. You order from a counter and wait couple of minutes to get your order. You pay and you get a number . Place is in a good court on the second floor. There are lots of tables available. Clean and there are people who clean and take your dishes.

A bit of a wait for food court food. They did have the sign up 30min wait which I thought was helpful. We bought food first walk around the mall and look for seats. The rice noodle is ultra soft. Congee and Chinese donut is average. This is one of the most popular stall in the food court.

Wow! This place really does live up to the hype. We drove up from Seattle and this is the first place we. They have the most delicate, transparent and delicious rice rolls I've ever had. I got the chasu, beef and shrimp combo. Simply wonderful! The line was not long at all, only three people in front of me, but they do take about 10 minutes to prepare your order as they're all freshly made.

Honestly I should've gotten the truffle one but these silken rice roll noodles destroy anything from Northern California or the 626 in SGV. It was a little bit on the pricey side for food court style food but I can understand why.. The sauce, texture of the noodles, snap from the shrimp was so dam glorious.

Food/Drinks: 5/5 This place offers incredible food. The menu is ridiculously basic but the food is insanely delicious. The drinks here are wonderful as well. Although we are visiting from out of country, we were able to purchase a plentiful amount of food and bring it back with us. Service/Ambiance/Value: 5/5 The service and ambience was as expected. The value was immense. Incredibly cheap and incredibly delicious. Overall Comments: 5/5 Without a doubt will recommend. Without a doubt will definitely return. This will become one of our must stop guaranteed stops whenever we stop by Vancouver BC.

I always order the black truffle seafood rice rolls whenever I go to Hei Hei. The rice roll is incredibly delicate and delicious. Their chili oil is amazing too, definitely a must try, and it's ! You can really smell and taste the truffle in the rice rolls. There are two folding styles available, and I prefer the traditional folding over the newer version. Just make sure to specify your preference when ordering. I usually place my order on the Fantuan app beforehand and pick it up when I arrive at the food court. There was one time I waited nearly an hour during lunchtime, so I learned my lesson. Haha!

A solid place to grab rice roll in Richmond, and can't forget to say it's in the Richmond public market so there are other things to try as well! The rice rolls are soft with just the right chewy texture. Flavours are good with the meat and soy sauce. I spotted Hei Hei Rice Roll online and made my way out to Richmond Public Market to try this spot. I actually had a great time at the market, but this specific stall really didn't live up to the hype. I went around 2PM on a Saturday and waited about 40 minutes for my food. I totally didn't mind the wait and just sampled the other food stalls, which impressed me way more than Hei Hei did (shout out Captain Wa!). Not sure if it was an off batch, but I wasn't impressed by the rice roll or the congee. Beef, Pork, and Shrimp Rice Roll (2.75/5): I thought the texture was mushy (aka overcooked). The toppings were also just okay - shrimp were small, but they didn't skimp on the protein at least. I did enjoy their homemade chili oil quite a bit though. Pork and Century Egg Congee (2.5/5): Too watery and literally zero flavor. They have some white pepper available when you pick up your food, but the real problem is the lack of salt.

I read the raving reviews for Hei Hei Rice Roll so I knew I had to pay a visit during my Vancouver trip. I also read about the long lines so I came early on a weekday at 10:30 AM (they open at 9:00 AM). I ordered R4. minced beef rice roll ($8.50) and added on scallions (free). I requested on the side soy sauce and chili oil (free). The rice roll was so silky smooth, it was unbelievable! The beef had melt-in-your-mouth texture and was flavorful. I wished there was more scallions though. Drizzling or dipping the rice roll with soy sauce and/or chili oil also gives it some saltiness, spice, and crunch. Portion size was perfect as I came hungry and was able to finish the entire dish and still had room for a dessert/snack. Hei Hei Rice Roll is located on the second floor of the indoor Richmond Public Market. They're two vendors away from the corner and relatively easy to locate. They don't accept credit card, so remember to bring cash and an appetite!

First time here - looking for the store and realized it's INSIDE the public market place. So, I took a picture of the street view for my fellow Yelpers. Headed to the second floor and you see a short line for this store only. Service is friendly and quick. I enjoy the rice rolls a lot. We got BBQ pork and beef. I like the BBQ pork and hubby likes the beef. Serving size is much bigger than I expected. You get three rice rolls per serving. We also got the preserved egg with pork porridge. It's good when it's pipping hot. It gets very watery once it cools down a bit. So, you are racing with the clock! I got the fermented rice soy milk. It's a meh for me. But, hubby thinks it's pretty good. All in all, I do enjoy this lunch. A very satisfying and comforting cheap eat.

Run don't walk to this rice roll shop because it is the best rice rolls I have ever had hands down!! This stand is located inside the Richmond Public Market amongst other also great food stalls. I buy their rice rolls almost every weekend and yet every single time, I am amazed on how they make their rice rolls so thin and silky. You can choose to get your rice rolls scraped style (toppings mostly on top) or wrap style (toppings wrapped inside). The sauce and the chili oil (must!!) complements the rice rolls so well by sticking to every single crevice. The rice rolls are so good that I am even gonna ignore the fact that their congee was not my favorite. It is too watery for my taste and lacks flavor. They also offer varieties of soy milk based drinks that are yummy! Tip: They do get quite busy after 11 am in the weekends so I recommend calling in before you are planning to come so it will be ready by the time you get there and buy food from all the other vendors.

The best rice roll noodles I've ever had. Still dreaming about this. I live in SoCal so get to eat a lot of delicious rice noodles both as cheung fun and banh cuon. This was by far the best texture I've ever had, felt like it melted in my mouth. The toppings were simple and delicious - each order comes with a slightly sweet soy sauce and chili sauce which are the perfect accompaniments. There is always a line so recommend to go early or just buffer in wait time - it's definitely worth the wait. It's in the food court on the second floor of Richmond Public Market so there is plenty of seating. I got the number one rice noodle roll. Highly recommend! I also got the truffle seafood - the seafood and noodle roll was delicious but I prefer the basic vs the truffle since I think it was a little too much flavor going on for me when the soy sauce and chili sauce is enough.

The beef, pork and shrimp rice roll is simple, yet amazing! This is a dish that I could eat every week. The noodles were fresh and the soy sauce complimented the noodles well. Service is not going to overwhelm you, but you're here for the food. Last, don't expect to be wowed by the surroundings of this food court, it's a very humble public market. Also, this a cash only establishment.

My friend always raved about this place and I'm glad I got to finally try it and it did not disappoint at all! It's located in a food court so there's a lot of seating here. We got to the stand by opening time to beat the crowd and got our food pretty quick. The menu is pretty straightforward and small - they only serve rice rolls and congee. We shared the 3-in-1 rice roll (beef, pork, shrimp) and the cha siu rice roll, preserved egg with minced pork congee, youtiao (chinese deep fried donut), and soymilk. The rice roll was sooooo soft and fresh!!! It also came with packs of soy sauce and hot chili oil to add on to your liking. It was a very fulfilling breakfast and I can't wait to come back to try their other rice rolls! They only accept cash here!
