Heian Handroll Sushi absolutely blew me away. I didn’t try the hand rolls, but the sushi pieces and sashimi were insanely fresh and full of flavor. Every bite tasted clean and high-quality, the kind of freshness you can immediately tell comes from great sourcing and careful preparation. The cuts of fish were generous, the texture was perfect, and everything was beautifully presented. It’s easily some of the best sushi and sashimi I’ve had in a long time. I’ll definitely be going back highly recommended!

Have been here a couple times and ordered a few more times through Uber Eats. Each time the food has been delicious and the service very friendly. We recently did their tasting menu ($80 pp) and it was well worth the price for the flavour and freshness. Will keep coming back!

Quite expensive for the food offered, pretty average also nothing great about this place , only plus is that ambience is good and service is good apart from that food is average and the cost is quite higher . I’ve had the same dishes in other sushi restaurants as well , found this quite pricy for the food they offer . Also to mention the taste is also pretty average

Wow! Heian is a great place to try authentic Japanese dishes. Starting with Jihye, who was amazing helping me choose. The food, the service and atmosphere were perfect. I tried a course A and all the chef’s selections are great. You can also order A La Carte. 10/10!

Chef Kayden (?) was cool. He suggested some of his favorites to us. The various nigiri were excellent. The salmon hand roll and appetizers were great as well. Ask about the items not on the menu. We also tried Osaka specialty roll, but I didn't care much for it. I'll stick to nigiri and sashimi like usual next time. To the lady that came in and ordered a California Roll... Try the torched salmon nigiri you were watching me eat. Reservations recommended. Free parking is widely available.

I recently dined at Heian Handroll Sushi bar and was very impressed with the overall experience. The miso soup was piping hot and full of flavor, the perfect way to start the meal. The edamame was tasty, though nothing out of the ordinary. The highlight of the meal was definitely the fresh and delicious fish in the sushi rolls. Each piece was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The only downside of the evening was that it was a bit slow, but given that it was a Sunday night, I can understand. Overall, I would highly recommend Heian Handroll Sushi bar to any sushi lover. With their year and a half in business, it's clear that they know what they're doing. Four out of five stars from me!

After multiple recommendations from a friend, we stopped by on a Sunday night and were the only ones in the restaurant . The place itself is intimate as most seats are around the sushi bar, though there are a few tables. I love the decor as well. Everything about Heian was an amazing experience . The fish quality was amazing . Our main sushi chef, Cho, was very sweet and welcoming. We had the Spicy edamame, Muki Hotate ( absolutely delicious ) , Tuna Trio, Red Crab Handroll and Hamachi Handroll,, Osaka roll, Hiroshima, and a few other things that I can't remember off the top of my head. They also served us some dishes on the house . Everything was amazing and we will definitely be back. A gem in McKinney if you enjoy top quality sashimi, nigiri, and quality fish .

Heian specializes in handrolls and selections of daily special fish. If you want an authentic sushi dining experience in an intimate space, I do recommend it here. They do not do omakase, but they have a set course that includes a few appetizers, handrolls, and chef's choice nigiris. I ordered 5 sets of handrolls with a couple of nigiris and that was a perfect amount. FYI If you are a sushi connoisseur, their rice is on the little more seasoned side. Few of the stand outs: (4/5) Salmon Handroll First of all they stuff it with loads of salmon the meat is almost coming out of the roll. The nori was crispy and complimented so well with buttery salmon. (5/5) Uni Nigiri They really loaded up the nigiri with at least four pieces of fresh uni, or sea urchin eggs. It tasted fresh and not fishy, and I thought it was great for the value. (4.5/5) Crab Handroll Also stuffed full, these finely shredded real crabs are tasty. Just slightly salty with umami. Would definitely order this one again. (4.5/5) Chutoro Nigiri I mean it's chutoro, you can't ever go wrong with buttery delicate piece of medium fatty tuna. It melts in the mouth just the right amount while still having a slight chew. (4/5) Tuna Cheeks Btw the service was excellent here, and our sushi chef was generous to give us little pieces of tuna cheeks on the house. I have never had cheeks of tuna before, and they were delicious while having good kind of chew. (5/5) Yuzu Ice Cream An absolute must order. This flavor of icecream may be seasonal, so be sure to ask them if they have it. Yuzu is a type of Japanese citrus that has very bright lemony but distinct taste. This ice cream was so refreshing with the perfect amount of zest that I'm still dreaming about it to this day.

I've been in this strip mall a handful of times and never noticed Heian, but when we had a Girls Night planned for the Escape Room across the street, Yelp directed us to Heian for a pre-game dinner. I am so glad! The service was top notch and the sushi (and more) was delicious! Usually sitting at the counter where the sushi is rolled is too loud, but this evening it was quiet so we treated ourselves to a front row seat. Funnily enough my friend and I ordered the same thing - Spicy Tuna Handroll and the Kawaii Shrimp. The Kawaii Shrimp reminded me of boom boom shrimp, the sauce was delicious I ended up dipping my Brussel Sprouts into it later on. I'm not usually a fan of handrolls, I'd rather take my time with individual slices, but that wasn't an option so I went with it. The Spicy Tuna was incredible. The spice was spot on, the filling was plentiful and there was more tuna than rice. Well worth the $6. I was still hungry but didn't want another hand roll or sashimi so I decided on the Brussel Sprouts. The eel sauce and seeds were just right and the portion was decent for $6. All in all I really enjoyed the sushi, atmosphere and service. I would definitely come back!

Situated at the front of a strip mall, it was easy to find. Unpretentious on the outside but looking in through the glass window it looked modern, clean, and organized. The center was the sushi bar and then maybe a few smaller tables against the wall on one side. Our first time here, we came on Valentines Day evening with dinner reservation, Feb 14, 2025. They had a mandatory special Valentines omakase so we didn't have to do much thinking, just go with the flow. Everything is fresh, flown from Japan. A couple of the sushi chefs are obviously tenured, they made the nigiri fast and skillfully. The chef making the handrolls was not as great, they came out loose and falling apart, even though it was still fresh and flavorful. I would say make reservations and come on a weekday that they get their fish flown in. Sit at the bar and order your favorites according to what is most fresh. The set menu actually was not the best way to highlight what they can do best. They tried too hard to make it "Valentine-y" instead of just serving great food.

Yum!! Quality was good and service is friendly. It's pretty casual but a good date spot too. They have daily and lunch specials, but I still think the menu items are reasonably priced! I recommend and will be back!

I am a California transplant so I miss Sugarfish deeply. I was planning to drive to Nobu Dallas today but was surprised to see Heian up the street from me and decided to try them out since they are much closer. I am so glad that I did! The food is delicious and fresh, and well portioned. My favorite item on the menu was the Hirame Carpaccio. It was so satisfying and tasty. The dish is giving Nobu's Whitefish Sashimi a run for its money, and half the price. I also had the Yellowtail, Salmon, and Spicy Tuna Handrolls. All 3 were pretty good, but the spicy tuna was my least favorite. I tend to like my spicy tuna with a little more mayo, which this did not have. The yellowtail Handroll was my favorite here. Finally, I HIGHLY recommend the Kawaii Shrimp. If you're a fan of Boom Boom Shrimp (or some places call it Rock Shrimp), you'll like Kawaii Shrimp because it's very similar. I ordered mine with a side of sushi rice and it was delicious.

Ok I'm a fan again. I never really stopped coming here; just didn't come as often. They have new chefs I've come to know now and the feeling I once had for this place is back. There are now lunch special options. They still have the same quality of fish; more cold dishes to choose from and I'm sure happy. Lately my favorites have been Suzuki, Hirame, Salmon and Madai. Definitely still ranks the best sushi in McKinney with quality.

The food was delicious. I ordered the 5 set with another salmon roll as my extra choice. Overall, the experience was good, but it did take a while to get menus and actually get served with a reservation. Once we ordered the handrolls were coming at a steady pace, and overall were delicious. Although the wait was long, the food was worth the wait.

I wanted to give this restaurant a 3.5 start but not an option in Yelp. The food was ok but the price is ridiculous high compared to the quality. One piece of uni is $20 but the sea urchin is not even close to the top quality (dark color, tiny, not sweet at all), which dont worth the money. I expected watching nigiri making process or having interaction with the chef as it's a reasonable expectation in a full-OPEN sushi bar. However, my friends and I sat there for 20 -30 mins watching chef's back only and waited all sushi coming together? 0 visibility of how the sushi made and almost 0 interactions. Well, If the chef doesn't like to talk or show their sushi skills, it's totally fine to not set the operation table openly, then we can just order and eat the food without any other expectations. Sorry, I have to say it was a boring experience, and we were unhappy at the end.

Lovely restaurant with a traditional Japanese setup where everyone is seated around the chefs as they prepare your meal. My friend and I tried their omakase. They give you miso soup, an appetizer, sashimi, nigiri, two handrolls of your choice and dessert. The food is excellent and the chef explains the elements of each dish they hand to you. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. If you're not willing to pay for the omakase, they offer plenty of handrolls and other options where you can mix and match different types of sushi. They also have a nice selection of alcohol, but neither of us tried those. Highly recommend checking this restaurant out!

A handroll place in McKinney! This was a really nice handroll bar with a ton of menu options. It's very clean and bright, and the ambience is really nice. Everyone is kind, and service is great! I believe I ordered a 4 or 5 handroll set, and every handroll was delicious. The rice is perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the nori is crispy and warm! The fish is really good quality as well. The prices are reasonable, so I really have no complaints. Overall, Heian was a great experience. I came during lunch on a weekday, and there were only a few other people in the restaurant.

Fish quality has gone down so much. The menu is confusing. And when you don't sit at the sushi bar they don't serve hand rolls, you get regular soggy seaweed rolls instead. We spent $360 for my husband and I, for subpar fish and poorly made rolls/sushi. Let's just say we won't be going back, ever.

I love this place because it's really good sushi close to home. This is the new styled sushi that's popping up everywhere. They specialize in individual sushi pieces, hand rolls, and cold tastings so people who are saying they didn't get full after 3 rolls...duh... The staff is great. I love them explaining what's added on my fish because it's not just plain nigiri. I had some with truffle, caviar, gold specks! I was hungry so I forgot to take pictures of everything we got, but here's some. We did the Stairway to Heaven which came with uni and the prix fixe which is only $80 for essentially 14 courses/fish and sides. Come try them out!

This place is so so good. The quality of the fish and other ingredients is amazing, and the flavors are bold. Every bite was incredible. The service was great, all were friendly and happy to answer questions. We liked sitting at the bar and watching everything be prepared. My favorite thing was the madai (Japanese snapper) nigiri, it came with a citrus zest that was mind blowing. Can't recommend this place enough - it's a gem in McKinney.

What a gem in McKinney! So glad we decided to try this sushi place... loved everything about it. The set up was intimate and inviting. I like how the chefs focus on their specific section of guests so it's very personal. Our waitress Christina was awesome... and hilarious! Def have to come back and visit her. She was icing on the cake to a great sushi experience. My favorite hand roll was the salmon roll and all the sashimi was really good. The texture was buttery and yummy! My only complain is pricing. Not a lot of food but a high bill... but the great experience compensates for price!

Went here for our anniversary dinner and it was great! We used to live in Ft Worth years ago and we went to another handroll place (Hatsuyuki) that we loved. We moved to California and went to Rol and love that place as well. This place is just as good as those places and the service was great as well! We recommend the fatty tuna handroll and the unagi or crab handroll. The ambience and place was super clean and everything was very nice. It is a perfect place for a casual lunch but also nice enough to be a cool, hip spot to meet others for dinner and a drink. We are so glad that the this place is in McKinney as it means we won't have to drive so far to get hand rolls.

Came on a Sunday around 7pm & the bar was completely full, so we were seated at a regular table. We were about to take our business elsewhere when the server finally came over to give us menus. We were told that since we were not sitting at the bar, our rolls would be regular rolls instead of the signature ones because the freshness of the special prep method of the wrapper couldn't be guaranteed. We enjoyed the mackerel appetizer & the yuzu sorbet but the rolls were nothing special, bit lackluster. Haven't decided if I'll come back to try their signature handrolls.

My husband and I were super excited that a new handroll place was opening up 15 minutes away from our house; I've already been twice, once with him on his birthday and once with a friend last night. The sushi bar seating is very cool because you get to see the chefs hard at work preparing your food; I'm not the biggest fan of the lack of lumbar support for the bar stools, but that's just a minor concern. Also note that if you get seated on one of the side tables (not at the bar), all handrolls will be cut into maki for you. When my husband and I came last week, we sat at the bar and ordered completely a la carte. In order, we tried: the chicken karaage, the takoyaki, the kushiage set, two types of sashimi (kanpachi and hotate), four types of nigiri (kasugodai, mahata, ishidai, and kamasu), and the red crab handroll as well as the ikura handroll. They didn't have the geso karaage or the yuzu ice cream, but I ended up trying the geso karaage the second time around, along with their signature nigiri omakase ($50) and the unagi and kaisen creamy hand rolls. First thing's first: the fish was super fresh and delicious, and the sushi rice here is excellent. Love the level of tanginess from the vinegar as well as the flavor profile overall; no need to dunk anything into soy sauce as everything is seasoned well. We loved the torched items we got (I think the first night that was the ishidai and the kamasu, and the second night a couple of items on the nigiri omakase were also torched), and the flavors all melded super well. The appetizers were a tad pricey for the portion sizes - $5 for three pieces of takoyaki is a bit much even when the takoyaki is excellent, and likewise $6 for three pieces of karaage - but the quality of the meat and seafood was great. Geso karaage was also well-battered and the dipping sauce was much preferable to the one that came with the karaage in our opinion. The sashimi fell a bit short for us, mostly because the dry slices of black truffle felt like they interfered with the textures of the rest of the dish without adding much flavor. The hotate sashimi was also pretty small in portion. I skipped those offerings the second time I came, because what I really enjoyed was: The nigiri and the handrolls! As mentioned, the sushi rice here is great, and all the fish here is super fresh. The second time I visited, the chutoro nigiri was so creamy and delicious. I also really really loved the ikura handroll that we got the first time we came; highly recommend that whenever ikura is on the menu, which isn't every day. The unagi hand roll I got the second time I came was also great, with a perfect char flavor and not too much sauce to overwhelm everything else. I ended up not getting the sashimi omakase that they also offer for $60 (11 pieces), but that's an option if you're looking to try more types of fish. The kushiage set is very simple but also very tasty! The batter isn't too thick which allows the ingredients to shine; there's not too much seasoning in the batter itself, but the skewers do come with a radish/soy dipping sauce mixture that helps to flavor the items. My favorites were the sweet potato and the mushroom. Looking forward to seeing how this place grows, and wishing them continued success so we can visit again soon :)

Came in for my second visit after a craving for sushi and celebrating my sister's first week at work! This spot is super inviting with the pink lights and calming atmosphere. I didn't catch the name of our waitress but she was honestly one of the nicest and coolest waitresses I've ever had. There was no awkwardness with this waitress, and I really felt comfortable eating here. Sushi is top notch! I really recommend the kampachi/amberjack there is a lot of really good funky flavors with that handroll.

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. From the outside, it is unassuming but inside it's a beautiful and intimate experience. The service is excellent. The quality of the fish is superior to most places. If you are looking for California rolls, this isn't a place for you. If you are interested in an authentic experience with wonderful and fresh flavors, look no further! The atmosphere is wonderful and it was a pleasure to watch the chefs at work. The toro is INCREDIBLE.

Grand opening! Make sure to get in and try this place before it gets crowded. It's not especially big, with 3 tables and the U-shaped sushi bar. However, it's high quality, clean, and classy inside. Loved the hand rolls here; we ordered the 3-set for $16, which is a great price and can fill you if you're not especially hungry (though I'd recommend ordering more). They're really generous with the fish meat inside the hand rolls too. The chicken karaage is juicy and succulent; they don't over-batter the chicken either. If you like to share, ask your sushi chef to cut the hand rolls in half. Heian is a great place for a dinner date or a quick bite to eat! Regardless, definitely try this place out!

Heian is a new handroll bar in the north end of Dallas. I went during their soft opening and everything exceeded my expectations! Service was impeccable and every piece of fish was very fresh. Since it was their soft opening, they gave us complimentary miso soup and Brussels sprouts as appetizers. The sprouts were lightly charred and mixed with eel sauce and sunflower seeds which was perfect in between handrolls. The menu isn't too large but the quality of each item is amazing. I went with the 5 handroll set which included salmon, crab, yellowtail, spicy tuna, and one of your choice. Each handroll is filled with plenty of fish and the nori was very crisp, which is an essential part of a great handroll. Heian is a great addition to the food scene in north Dallas. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for high quality food and service!

Being a lover of Japanese cuisine, Heian now ranks on one of my top list! If you're looking for Americanized sushi rolls, you may not find it here. They sell authentic Japanese handrolls, with emphasis on premium quality & truly the freshest of seafood. We had the sashimi sampler and it was the most outstanding combination of flavors! This is not just plain sashimi, but each fish is presented in a different flavor and they were truly incredible. A lot of details was put into their creations. The scallop sampler was topped with uni & truffle & toro. The toro here is completely melt in your mouth! My favorite hand roll was the spicy tuna and eel, a very rare combination you will find elsewhere. And it was truly the perfect marriage of sweet & umami. Service here is outstanding! Highly recommend!

I love the food!! Watching the chefs prepare the various dishes is a pleasure and entertaining. I've had hand rolls, Brussel sprouts, karage, edamame, tonkatsu, and sake. I recommend it all!

Wish I could add a 6th star. This place is absolutely amazing. This is not your typical Americanized sushi roll restaurant. Super high quality, high-end sushi with the fish being flown in whole and fresh from Japan and cleaned onsite. Both times we've eaten here, we sat at the bar that surrounds the prep area where you can see them preparing the food. It's small, cozy and intimate, the staff is so kind and helpful and clearly takes pride in the quality and taste of their food. I took my daughter (who calls herself the sushi expert) here and she loved it. Not cheap, no, but well worth the higher price for the quality and authenticity. Can't recommend enough.

Had a late night craving and decided to door dash some food and try the place out. I got the 5 hand roll set and chose chutoro as my 5th choice. Let's just say what was delivered completely exceeded my expectations. The packaging is so nice, and the fish to rice ratio of the rolls is amazing! They definitely Jam Pack the rolls with fish and the quality is one of the nicest I have head in the North Dallas area. I look forward to dining in soon!

My sister and I came here for lunch around 1:00pm on a Wednesday and it was not busy at all. We were surprised at how cute the restaurant was inside and all the elements it had to it! The service was absolutely wonderful and the staff were so nice! They got our food out to us very quickly too and it tasted delicious. We did order the 4 set roll as well a couple of other rolls and it was nice that the chef split each one so we both could try them! Would highly recommend if you are in the area and enjoy hand rolled sushi!

My Wife and I visited here for Fathers Day. So glad we did! It was amazing!! Staff was so friendly!! The food & presentation....Unbelievable!!

I wanted to love this place soooo bad, but it was just so lackluster and mid. We ordered via DoorDash so maybe that's why? My husband and I each got the 5 roll set which comes with salmon, yellowtail, crab, spicy tuna and a special selection of your choice. His special selection was the scallop and mine was the chutoro. We also ordered the salmon sashimi and unagi katsu roll. When our order was delivered we were SO impressed with the presentation. The packaging was beautiful and everything looked great, but unfortunately that was the best part of the meal. Overall the rolls were just ok and nothing really stood out at all. There was way too much rice and because the rice was super vinegary, that's pretty much all you could taste. The only ones that were even worth eating were the salmon, the scallop and the unagi katsu - But even those were just a bit above average. Once dipped in soy sauce, all you could taste was the sushi rice and soy sauce. Everything was just totally underwhelming and unsatisfying so we ended up throwing nearly half of it away. Even the sashimi was just ok. Not the buttery tasting salmon I was looking forward to. I was sooo excited to try this place and was just totally let down. Ordering sushi is always a nice splurge so to throw half of it away feels like such a waste. Maybe it's better dine in, but we prob won't give it a shot.

Literally the BEST sushi place I have found in prosper/frisco/mckinney area. The quality of the food is excellent and service is great as well. And the price is very fair for that kind of food quality. Highly recommended.

I've been here a few times, but it seems like the fish quality has gotten progressively worse. It's also difficult to read the menu on the wall for their 'specials' when you're seated at a table. Menu is confusing and what's even more confusing is that you cannot order rolls at a table. My wife and I came by on a Tuesday and the place was dead.

The fish was amazing! Service was quick and knowledgeable. I enjoyed the overall experience and will be back. It's a hidden gem!

The food at Heian was amazing! My family and I went for dinner and were so impressed by the service and delicious food. Everything came out so quickly and the food was top notch. I can't wait to come here again. If you're a sushi fan, especially hand rolls, please come out and support this amazing small business.

Drove to McKinney today for lunch hoping to get the neat looking nigiri ladder that I keep seeing people post, but was sad to find out they were not offering it for lunch today (5/22)...so don't go this week if you were planning to order that. They said they didn't have the staff to prepare it. They were also out of Hokkaido scallops, so I tried a few other hand rolls that were overall decent. Will have to return another time to get the full experience!

I was a bit hesitant to write this review. If too many people find out how great this place is, I will never be able to get in because it's really small. Hand rolls are great. I honestly didn't know I was a hand roll guy, but I am now. All the nigiri we had was great. Sashimi was great too. The service is great and very friendly. They really know what they are doing here. This is my new sushi spot in McKinney. Just don't make it too crowded to where I can't ever get a seat. Thanks.

Found this new handroll spot in McKinney and we absolutely love it! The service was great, the chef patiently explained the menu to us and made his recommendations. They have prefix handroll sets or a la carte menu so you can order however you like. I ordered the blue fin tuna, unagi & ebi katsu. The handrolls are quite large and filled with fish, so 3 was plenty enough. The highlight was the kanpachi sashimi from the special menu; the trout was super fresh and the truffle and caviar on top really elevated the experience. We will definitely return to try the other types of handrolls!

Fish is super fresh, service is friendly without being overbearing and the price is just right! Chefs are experts and prepared all of our pieces with skill and care. Appetizers such as the Brussels sprouts, octopus salad and takoyaki were delicious and just the right size. They made me a special birthday piece with uni, Truffle and caviar that may be the single richest bite of sushi I've ever eaten. Bathrooms are clean, check out the cute soap dispenser at the sink! Make sure to sneak in here for their soft opening before everyone figures out they don't have to drive super far for high quality hand rolls.

The hand rolls were good, but the portions were small. I've been to other hand roll places and didn't leave hungry, but I did after visiting here. Also, the soy sauce is very salty. Not sure why, but after requesting low sodium soy sauce, it tasted better. Don't get me wrong, I love salt! But again for some reason, theirs were way too salty for even my taste. Still worth a try for sure.

Stopped in Heian after hearing it be hyped up by a couple of friends - and it truly lived up to the hype! First, the restaurant is so cute, especially being at such an unsuspecting shopping strip location. Next, the food. We ordered the brussels sprout and geso karaage to start, and then the 3 sets & 5 sets of handrolls. I've been dreaming of the brussels every day since, and I can't wait to get in to try some of the other handrolls! Staff was super friendly, and I love that the seating allows you to see the prep of your rolls and the incredible looking fish! Will absolutely be back. So glad Mckinney has this spot!

I was surprised to see a higher end sushi restaurant pop up in McKinney. The restaurant was well decorated and the wait staffs were very nice and attentive. I feel that their setup reminded me of Kyodai Handroll & Sushi Bar and the price range of their food was also similar. I tried their $80 Omakase, which was a 7 course meal that starts with a miso soup, followed by tuna/salmon sashimi appetizer, then an assorted sashimi, an assorted sushi, 2 handrolls and finally an ice cream dessert. The miso soup tasted common, but the tuna/salmon sashimi appetizer was quite enjoyable, especially after it was mixed with the sauce at the bottom. The assorted sashimi was very tasty. The assorted sushi was mostly great except the last piece that was a bit tough and chewy. I felt that I enjoyed the handrolls the most and I ordered the scallops handroll and unagi handroll. The green tea ice cream was also very good. I felt that their omakase was obviously not the best I've tried, but for the price range, it was a very enjoyable experience.

They accommodated our large party and everything was so good! Kids and adults enjoyed their food and service. Will be back!

Amazing authentic sushi, nigiri, hand rolls and more. You can tell all the chefs are top notch and the rest of the staff gave great service. The aesthetic is the cherry on top that brings together a great dining experience. I recommend the hand roll series, the orange blossom, and of course edamame and miso soup. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu!

This is my third time back and it's still just as good. They expanded the menu a lot more from the last time and everything was delicious. Getting hungry again

Everything here was phenomenal! We came for their soft opening and service was superb; they were so attentive and hospitable. There's plenty of seating and the interior is very cozy. The Sakura motifs are also super cute. For appetizers we got miso soup, Brussel sprouts, and karage. The Brussel sprouts were so crispy and flavorful they were definitely our favorite. The karage was hot and crispy the only thing it was missing was maybe some sauce. Their sushi was very fresh and their hand rolls were stuffed with fish. We got the 5 Handroll combo for 25$ and it included salmon, yellowtail, spicy tuna, crab, and our choice for the last roll (we chose chuutoro). My favorite was the crab Handroll. For sushi, we got madai, scallop, and akami. All were very fresh and delicious. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and the sushi came out quickly but with intent. Great place for a date.

True authentic experience. Excellent traditional sushi and superb, friendly service. Small space, I recommend you sit at the bar and watch the sushi master create his masterpieces. No need to drive to Dallas or Frisco anymore these guys are the equivalent to Shoyo or Kinzo minus the fuss or the prices.

Finally went to see what the hype was all about at Heian after reading other raving reviews about it. Walked in to a beautiful U shaped sushi bar, brightly lit and tranquil atmosphere. Waitress was very attentive, sushi chefs were not super talkative (which I'm actually ok with). We tried to see if they had an omakase option but they told us they basically just had a nigiri or sashimi chef's pick of the day so we decided to try one of each. Presentation on the nigiri and sashimi boxes was beautiful. Quality of the fish was ok, although there wasn't really anything fancy to match the price or portion size in my opinion. It honestly left us still hungry so we decided to order some hand rolls and this is where the "problem" arose for me. The hand rolls were prepared by a different chef and let's just say he didn't wash his hands prior to the preparation of those hand rolls. I tried to tell myself to give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe he washed them in the back where I didn't see.. however after he served us the hand rolls, he was clearly bored because it was not busy so he started reaching his hands in and out of his pockets, touched his mustache, rubbed his nose.. I get it, we are human, but let's just say I didn't see him wash his hands after that before he continued working. Completely unacceptable. Imagine what Gordon Ramsay would have done in that situation? ‍
