Stopped by during my lunch break to give this cafe a try and I was absolutely satisfied. The counter service was inviting and I loved the plethora of options for food and drinks. I ordered the vegan burrito and it’s definitely one of the best burritos I’ve had- a great blend of vegan proteins and healthy carbs. My sugar free vanilla latte hit the spot! I’ll definitely be returning again.

Went here for breakfast the first time a few days ago and I didn't know what to order, but the lady taking orders (Sunny/Sonny) helped me so much! I said I wanted something flavorful and she recommended the chilaquiles and also recommended the smaller half size because the full plate is pretty large. I love how eager she was to help me and understood exactly what I wanted because the meal was perfect!!! I was so happy that I listened to her -- the food melted in my mouth and the flavors were incredible. I also asked Sunny/Sonny if they had water and even though it was in a jug where customers are meant to get water themselves, she offered to bring me some, which I thought was really sweet. Very good customer service, lively ambience (especially in the morning), and amazing food. I will definitely be coming back thanks to Sunny/Sonny!

Google
A lovely cafe with the sweetest staff ever. These ladies are so friendly and attentive! Very cute with a decent amount of indoor and outdoor patio seating. Parking can be a bit hard to find, there are some lots and street spaces nearby. There’s a bathroom outside too, just ask staff for the door code. Decent prices and decent food. The quiche of the day was flavorful with great texture, and the Spanish latte was excellent. Would recommend and definitely go back

Google
Well, stopped by the town to see the Michael Meyers house. Was very surprised by the service, awesome food, and great outside seating. Definitely will be back next year when we visit again.

Google
Food was very tasty. Burrito was very filling, notably the salsa tasted very fresh. We also got a red velvet cupcake and an apple pie bar to go, both of which were also good. Place gets a little busy but it's overall a nice chill vibe.

Google
Quiet place near the train station in So Pas. Had a breakfast meeting and tried out the breakfast burrito. Not the best I ever had, but good sized portion and delicious nonetheless. Service was quick and efficient, I was one of three total customers at 8am. Indoor and outdoor seating. I imagine if I took the train on a regular basis that it might be my go-to spot to grab a coffee and breakfast on my way into work.

Google
Heirloom continues to be a good, solid choice in South Pasadena for an excellent brunch or simply a lunch spot. Their long history is a testament to their longevity. Sandwiches, salads, and bakery items are what they do well here. This is a friendly, relaxing cafe experience. The specials board for the menu is usually where I look first, for it usually has some seasonal items. Their standard menu items are always very good, too. There is limited dining space indoors. Larger parties can be accommodated on their patio. Their drip coffee is a strong brew with modest costs for refills. Parking is street or a public lot, just with an entrance north of their patio. It is shared with "Ride Share."

Google
We called in an order for pick up and the staff was very accommodating of any adjustments we wanted on our sandwiches. We got 3 roast beef, 1 with no cheese or mayo, 1 with extra cheese, and one regular. Everything was done well and the sandwiches were super tasty! The carrot cupcake we got was also very good.

Andrea R.

Yelp
The most beautiful and delicious apple pie ever! We ordered an apple pie for Thanksgiving from Heirloom Bakery and wow! It was very large and delicious. 10" glass pie plate and piled high with apples. They were so friendly taking my order on the phone - didn't have to order online. I love the personal touch.

Yelp
I tried a few items here: Bran muffin: 4/5 tastes healthy but well made. Docking a star bc the muffin didn't come up to the top of the liner- not sure if it lost its height after baking or it's just meant to be a smaller muffin? Vegan banana muffin: 4/5: solid for a vegan muffin Spinach muffin: 2/5 dry and lacking in flavor. Couldn't really taste the spinach either Currant bread loaf: 4.5/5 really nice texture and I like the combination of currants and walnuts. A small nitpick is that it could use a bit more of the add ins, some slices didn't have any or only one piece.

Yelp
I highly recommend Heirloom Bakery and Café. All of their food is freshly made, and their baked goods are absolutely amazing, along with the rest of the menu. You truly can't go wrong with any choice. It's definitely worth stopping by if you're in South Pasadena.

Yelp
Our family goes out of our way to meet up at this bakery and coffee shop in South Pasadena near the tram line. We love the pastries and the coffee, but the real stars of the show are the sandwiches, mostly cause they're made on the homemade bread from the bakery The other day we dropped in and got in the line to order. We admired all the pastries, take away salads and specialty baked goods in the display cases. My husband and I chose to split a warmed up smoked turkey, brie cheese, and caramelized onion sandwich on their fresh baked white bread. We picked up the beverages along the way, which are also displayed in the counter and got to check out on the new large computer check out screen. It was a little tricky, but the wait person helped us out The place is packed so we returned to a table that my brother-in-law had held for us. You get a number when you check out, then wait for your meal at the tables. The place is so popular that the dining has even spilled over into the little alleyway next door. We bought potato chips separately from a rack near the checkout counter and I picked up a chocolate croissant for breakfast the next morning cause I knew how good the pastries were. The food came out in about 20 minutes. We had arrived right at noon when the place is packed. The sandwich was scrumptious. The fresh bread was a great holder for the oozing cheese and lightly heated turkey with the onions on top, giving it a nice smoky flavor. My little bottle of Martinelli's apple juice was the perfect tart accompaniment, and my husband had lemonade. We talked and visited and enjoyed this mini family reunion in such a warm and convivial atmosphere !

Yelp
Great place to meet friends for a meal or coffee/tea. I love the vegan meal options- this makes it easy for groups with different food preferences to come together

Yelp
This is a great casual spot for breakfast or lunch. I've been here a couple of times and each time the service has been warm and welcoming. I've gotten their roast beef hot sandwich, ham and cheese croissant, and iced matcha. Everything has been delicious. They have a free parking lot next door as well as street parking. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
One of my fav So Pas brunchie spots. So consistently good with fresh baked items. It is a great spot to meet friends and unwind from a long week. The food is tasty and the coffee is on point for a weekend morning, the drip they offer is a smooth pick me up without the jolt. This place is what every neighborhood needs. Don't remember when it opened, but this bakery is always a repeat visit for me. My normal MO is grab n go after a workout. There bakery display case is always a winner, I can always find a treat when I stop in. The best items for me are the mushroom spinach croissant or the savory scone. Always a mood enhancer after the first bite, happy thoughts moving forward. Note, when walking up to the display, remember to look at the whole selection. There will be a special item either on a pedestal, plate, or piled neatly in a corner. Those are the unique items, and worth trying; it might not be a winner all the time but worth the experience. Today, I came across a savory Danish that hit the right buttons, it was a cherry tomato and ricotta with a hint of pesto. So, delicious, fulfilling in an easy way where the pesto wasn't overpowering the sweet tart tomatoes and creamy cheese. Delightful pastry.

Yelp
Such a cute bakery and cafe. I wish I was able to sit in the space but I ordered a Cuban sandwich to go. The staff was very friendly and the sandwhich was good. I want to go back and grab some pastries and sit in their seating area and enjoy the ambiance!

Yelp
Heirloom is a standard in our family. Everything is made fresh and it's been that way for the +17 years we've been eating there. Anything in the bakery case is worth having: hostess cupcake, lemon bars, red velvet cupcake, savory scones, etc. All of the sandwiches and salads are good. All of them. And the deli case is also a win to grab some dinner items. We love the people that work there, friendly and fast service that we the receive and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Whether we are dining in or picking up a to-go order, we know the food will on point. Also the coffee & tea bar is solid. They can make you almost anything.
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
Overall solid. Nice strong coffee. Good amount of food options and from the deli counter. I didn't try any baked goods, for a bakery I think I expected there to be more on display. They have a great amount of seating outside that's also shaded. Makes for a nice afternoon across the street from the train. Bathroom is outside with a code that they'll give you. My only real issues here was the lady at the counter wasn't very friendly, and no available wifi.

Laura P.

Yelp
The food is good however the service is terrible. We let them know something was off and they ignored us.

Yelp
It amazes me that an owner from this restaurant that's been there a long time is so not personable to customers in line not even greeting them. I've been in the food business a long time and met many restauranteurs always friendly and greeting their customers. 2nd time there spent over $$$ last time . Messed up my order for a second time still uses a note pad. That's all folks!

Anna S.

Yelp
First visit to this establishment, I was not impressed. Had a party of 4 and had to repeat my order several times, they still use paper order receipts, get with the times people. They got our order wrong not once but twice and was very rude when we tried to remedy it, owner must have been in a bad mood, she was so rude. We Left the establishment with a bad taste in our mouths, Food was mediocre. Never will return there. Get some manners owner. But we went to Monarch bakery across the street and was very welcomed, they gave us bakery items gratis. Do better Heirloom.

Cadena B.

Yelp
Salads are the best! Heirloom is a great place in South Pasadena for brunch or lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
I love coming here after a hard workout, or to do some work. The coffee is top tier, and the pastries and breakfasts are varied, so there's something for everyone. It's a warm and homey environment, and it never takes too long for things to be made. You can also take cupcakes and other goodies home, if you have the discipline to do so!

Yelp
Awesome local bakery and cafe. It has inside and outside seating. Close to metro parking structure. Therefore, parking is free and available. They have friendly staff and food are delicious. Definitely a great place to grab breakfast and brunch

Yelp
You must try Heirloom Bakery. The overstuffed sandwiches are amazing. I had the BLT. Delicious, fresh homemade bread and perfectly crispy bacon. My friend loved her breakfast sandwich, my brother raved about his turkey sandwich too. We had the option to order a 1/2 sandwich. I may do that next time! Cheerful service We greedily shared the pumpkin muffin and almond croissant the staff included as a thank you. Will definitely return.

Yelp
This is, hands down, the best bakery/cafe/pâtisserie in the San Gabriel valley and maybe all of LA. Everything--and I mean EVERYTHING--here is outstanding, freshly prepared with pride, skill, the best ingredients available and love. I travel to France on a regular basis to visit my son and his family, and, after a month in Paris, I am itching to get back to Heirloom Bakery for my weekly breakfast there. It is the only place in the U.S. where I will order a croissant. And It is the only place I know of that makes a breakfast salad: fresh mixed greens and tomatoes, topped with parmesan cheese, two poached eggs and a savory dressing with bacon, balsamic vinaigrette and sautéed red onion. All of their breakfasts, sandwiches and side dishes are delicious, freshly prepared and generous (so much so, that you can order half-orders of many of the menu items) Their baked good are absolutely fantastic and their key lime pie is out of this world--perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. The atmosphere in the place is warm and welcoming, and there is a large wrap-around patio for those sunny California mornings and afternoons. The staff is friendly and attentive, and I always get a warm smile and greeting from Sally, the Chef and owner/operator of this jewel of a restaurant in South Pasadena. To tell the truth, I'm a bit hesitant to post this review for fear the place will become too popular, but fair is fair. Trust me. Try this place once, and you will be back.

Yelp
Set in quaint, beautiful South Pasadena, this somewhat quirky restaurant prepares a variety of Pasadena style breakfast and lunch items. It's mostly porch dining with some tables indoors. Service is mostly on your own for ordering at the counter, getting your own water and busing your dishes. Portions are large and filling, but they have 1/2 sandwiches. I got the soup and salad lunch special and my husband got the Asian Chicken Salad. The soup is also known as Rumford Soup and is similar to the Jewish packaged one with dried beans, peas and barley. I didn't like the addition of herbs, but that seems to be the style of cooking appreciated here. The Vegan salad was a great choice and enough for two very large meals. The hummus dressing was light and delicious (no strange herbs, thank goodness) and was complemented nicely by the pieces of roasted cashew. My husband liked the Asian Chicken salad, but I didn't try it. The coffee was flavorful and not burned tasting. I should have asked if they sell the beans or where I might get some. The brownie was rich and fudge-like. We were satisfied with small pieces, so it will last a while.

Yelp
Cute little cafe right by the train station I love my neighborhood. Beautiful place great community with great unique food options.

Yelp
The shop workers were very kind and good people. But the cashier woman had a bad attitude and seemed to be racist. It's a very crowded shop, and I know it's popular, but depending on the worker of the store, it can be good or bad. It was a pity. The sound in the store was very loud. But the latte was the most delicious.

Yelp
WELCOME BACK, SALLY!!! I heard the original owner returned, and I noticed the TV monitors were gone, so we stopped in for lunch on our way home from jury duty. It was as if Mom came back to feed us. We had: French Chicken sandwich Mac & cheese Green Goddess pasta Chocolate cupcakes Key Lime pie It's probably a little silly how happy I am to have Heirloom back the way it's supposed to be.

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
A little late with this review. Came here almost a week ago. This was one of the places on my list and also recommended by a friend, and I was not disappointed! The French chicken sandwich and Iced Spanish latte were so delicious! And the woman there was super nice and friendly. Actually, everyone was. Will definitely be back and recommend them to everyone!

Yelp
I come for the Sweet tooth in my belly!!! Brown Sugar Butter Scone Blueberry Muffin Homemade Ding Dongs!!! You rang!!??

Yelp
Everything we had was delicious. The scones had such wonderful flavor and texture we had one with lavender and I believe dried currents. we also shared a spinach and mushroom croissant, which was absolutely delicious. We also had a spinach muffin, which was yummy and savory, but definitely can't stand a torch against the croissant .We will definitely be returning for more delicious treats, including some of their prepared foods aside from baked goods.
google avatar

Claire A.

Yelp
I live nearby and love the BLT (1/2 order) - which is massive, really nice bacon and sourdough toast. Recently I ordered a "surprise bag" from Too Good to Go from Heirloom and it was amazing - probably day-old pastries but they were still yummy and fresh. The bag contained the spinach and mushroom croissant, a piece of key lime tart, a bran muffin and an apple pastry that had a layer of almond paste.
google avatar

Justin T.

Yelp
Came to this place a while back, great service and food. Haven't been in a while so decided to stroll over today, but the service was mediocre. The cashier looked like he'd rather be somewhere else. My sandwich contained something that was not listed on the menu that I'm allergic to. Pretty disappointing that I paid $15 for a sandwich I can't even eat. Please list all ingredients in the sandwich. FYI, I have an avocado allergy, hopefully I wasn't charged more for the avocado.

Monica L.

Yelp
Excellent everything. My go to place for a BLT, apple bar and carrot cake cupcakes. The atmosphere is quaint.

Yelp
This place is really good! I love to visit on a weekend morning. It's right across from Jones Coffee.

Yelp
Heirloom Bakery (est 2005) is a corner local breakfast, lunch, cafe and pastry shop located at Meridian ave in So. Pasadena. They are literally in front of the MTA Gold line station. I came here today for brunch. I was warmly greeted by a young female staff. I told her it's my first time and she kindly showed me the menu. I decided to order one of their Specials. Veggie omelet, cafe au lait and orange juice. I liked my food and drinks. Indoor/outdoor atmosphere were relaxing. Their indoor seats were limited, however, they have more tables outdoor. Service was on point. Staff was cordial and professional. Prices seem economically fair. Side street parking and free public lot next to the cafe are available. Overall, I had a good meal and dine-in experience. I recommend this bakery and cafe restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice Bakery and more. Really like their pastries and the ambience. It's my new place to go for coffee since Nicole's Cafe sadly closed down.

Yelp
Very quaint place. Such a good variety of food and excellent pleasant staff. Ordered the carrot cake muffin which was quite good Love the frosting ! They have an extensive menu with so many items one cannot help to find something they like

Yelp
I will never go to this place again, even though they are very close to me. Waiting time was exorbitant even though I was right there in front of them. Twice! I gave them a second chance about a year later and nothing had changed. Food was good but the wait was crazy. Food was always ready too, just up on a high shelf with myself in eye's view of all of them, including the manager or owner, or both. Have not been back since.
google avatar

Didi T.

Yelp
The carrot cake was tasty. But ordered the breakfast salad. BIG MISTAKE. the poached egg and bacon were nice. but the cup of dressing made it virtually inedible. for the price. Get your ratios right. The bus lady recommended ordering the dressing on the side... great advice after the fact. And brought me a plate of lettuce but honestly didn't help much. very disappointing.
google avatar

Becca D.

Yelp
This place is not cheap, but the quality is really worth it. I feel great after I eat here, never leaves my stomach feeling icky like a lot of other restaurants these days. The bacon was the best bacon I've had in ages. Simple, but tender and not crispy(how I prefer my bacon).
google avatar

Maureen W.

Yelp
Still a big fat 5. Came for lunch and discovered that their hibiscus tea is amazing!!!! So good. Also highly recommend the Asian salad. One of the best.
google avatar

Alex A.

Yelp
Came in for a comforting meal soon after fires, and they were so nice to us. Smoked turkey and brie was a warm welcome. Mexican chocolate pie was light and sweet. Also tried Colonille tea which was a unique Vietnamese tea with French vanilla.
google avatar

Yelp
I was asked to go out this morning for a specific brand of noshing and general merriment that has been lacking for the past several years thanks to covid and my cancer diagnosis. It felt amazing getting back out there, I loved my grilled Panini and the Esthetic of the little Cafe... now, of course, I got back home and collapsed in bed for a few hours... but I dared to venture out and throw "caution" to the wind... lol. I give today's outing a solid 2 thumbs up Thanks, everyone, for making my first real reintroduction to the outdoors a pleasant success!
google avatar

Anna A.

Yelp
Walked here for breakfast on a rainy day and it seemed very popular! I ordered an iced raspberry latte and it was absolutely perfect. Not a lot of places have raspberry flavoring but it's always a hit and not too sweet. I also ordered the breakfast burrito with potatoes. I did like the burrito but the beans were sopping wet and overpowering so it instantly collapsed after one bite. I recommend asking for less beans or if they were drained better before being placed in the burrito. I ended up eating it with a fork+knife and it was good that way!
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
We live super close by and go at least twice a week. The pastries and reheatable to go options are the best. The breakfast is good to ok depending what you get . They need to improve their ordering check out service ASAP. I normally don't care to rate a place but on multiple occasions they are slower which is fine but then can be rude mainly because things are not organized in front area.
google avatar

Yelp
I have a weird craving for carrot cake, especially for the cream cheese frosting and decided to pop in while I was in the area. Parking is not great here - I had to circle around to place 2x to find a spot. Carrot cake did not disappoint and could possibly be the best carrot cake I've ever had. It comes in the form of a giant cupcake and they are generous with the cream cheese frosting. This carrot cake had walnuts so beware if you have any nut allergies, but cake itself was so moist and sweetness level was acceptable for someone who hates sugar and thinks everything is too sweet. The cream cheese frosting was amazing and was a good balance for the barely sweet cake. 10/10 recommend the carrot cake. This was the only thing I tried here and I would come back for it. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon but staff/service was not the best. The lady who was at the register looked like she didn't want to be there and did not say a word when I was up next to order. I ordered and she gave me my carrot cake and that was it. Other than that, this place looked like a really cute spot for brunch. It was small inside but there were quite a few tables on the patio for seating.

S N.

Yelp
This review is long overdue. I may be biased because (1) I live really close and (2) I think Sally is awesome! Staying with the food, everything from the pastries to the sandwiches to the soups are delicious. My go-to is the turkey meatloaf sandwich. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. They get pretty busy on weekends and get bogged down, but they try to keep things moving the best they can. The ambiance is great! Just know that you're across the street from the metro rail so expect some noise from the metro passing by if you're sitting outside. If you have kids they'll love it.
google avatar

Yelp
Heirloom Bakery was wonderful in every way! Because it has outdoor seating, I could bring my dog. They even asked if my pup needed water! The breakfast menu is incredible and portions are generous. I loved the egg sandwich. It was HUGE and so delicious. The other people I went with had only good things to say about the avocado toast and vegan breakfast burrito (as meat eaters, they loved the vegan version of chorizo). At the end, we ordered pastries to take him and they did not disappoint! We could hear live music from across the street which added to the ambiance. Even though you're sitting right across from the light rail, you don't notice the sounds when a train passes. I highly recommend Heirloom for a weekend morning breakfast/brunch or to take home savory and sweet pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
My sister lives nearby and recommended Heirloom when I asked for an outdoor dining rec. I'm so glad we came! This is a delightful lunch/brunch/breakfast/snack/dessert spot! Our group of 9 show up and the staff let us move a table to accommodate us on the outdoor patio. The entire outdoor area is covered and shady, so even though it was around 95 degrees out, it felt perfectly comfortable. This place is very dog-friendly with water bowls (staff and customers also kept saying "don't worry" when they had to step over our big guy's body that was sticking out in the walkway). Order at the counter and they bring your food to the table (another perk with a large group instead of splitting the bill). Service was friendly. Food was delicious. In addition to the menu items, they have a bunch of prepared foods in the deli case and bakery case. All looked AMAZING. I tried a number of different items but my gazpacho soup and zucchini quiche were so good. The creamy potato salad was perfect. Someone bought a pack of cinnamon sugar crisps. So good! I want to come back next time I'm visiting

Yelp
Ordered take-out on a Sunday. I called half an hour before for 3 sandwiches, the Cuban, the caprese, and chicken pesto. On the phone, the lady told me that they'll be ready in 20 mins and I showed up 30 mins later and they're not ready. This place is always packed so I expected that especially on a weekend. However, what I didn't like about it is that the cashier and front counter seemed so disorganized. At least when I was waiting in line to pay for my order, I noticed a few people in front of me kept asking for items that they ordered and the staff had missed to bring them. Anyways, I paid and went outside to wait for my order to be brought to me because it was way too crowded inside and the staff were talking over each other. I waited another 25 minutes for the Ofer to be brought out (so it took them almost a whole hour) to make the 3 sandwiches for take-out. With all the great reviews I was having high hope for the food. When I opened the boxes the presentation was not impressive at all. The Cuban was pretty salty. The filling in the caprese almost completely fell out from the baguette (and it was a pretty small portion for this one), and the bread was soggy at the bottle half of the chicken pesto (it was about 10mins since I got the order to when I opened the food). I wasn't impressed with the sandwiches, though they might have looked and tasted better if it was dine-in. However, I think their manager really needs to make the place more organized. It's way too hectic and stifling looking at the staff at the front counter and from the kitchen clamoring over each other to prepare orders.
google avatar

Kathleen M.

Yelp
After a year in Pasadena and many trips to Heirloom Bakery, I must thank everyone there for preparing delicious take-out sandwiches in a space where eating on their terrace is also a nice option. It is an excellent option for morning coffee (I get one while I wait for my take-out order to be completed), or for lunch especially on a pleasant day. They are closed in the evening.
