General Election 2019 | Where to Eat in Chingford and Woodford Green - Eater London

"Inviting little Mediterranean cafe offering home-cooked food. Helen’s is a community favourite, with a family room private catering, meze evenings and afternoon tea. The beef brisket bagels and ciabatta filled with iounza (Greek ham) are standouts." - Shekha Vyas

What a delightful hidden gem!! So pleased we found it. My friend and I visited for coffee/cake on a Monday teatime, after reading lots of lovely reviews. We arrived at 3.30pm, only to discover, they close early on a Monday. However, we were not turned away, but welcomed inside 😍. We had two soya lates and homemade lemon cake. Probably the nicest I've had. All cakes are homemade and look delicious!! Helen was absolutely lovely, so welcoming and warm. Will definitely be returning. (Seating available outside and is child friendly)

At Helen’s coffee, you’ll find many more things apart from tea and coffee. Such as a variety of flatbreads, pizzas, smoothies, milkshakes, toast, cakes and soft drinks. Helen’s got a little play area for kids as well. I came across some beautiful handmade greeting cards and tot bags for sale, there is a little notice board where other little businesses display their promotions and services too. I really enjoyed having my smoothie and cake overlooking the Green this sunny summer morning.

A clean , bright & welcoming independent cafe. The food focus is all about quality and flavour , I’ve eaten here several times and have enjoyed everything I’ve ordered , the “Full Gringlish “ breakfast is particularly flavorsome and plenty of it too, the coffee is equally outstanding. As for the service ; 5 stars from me , warm welcome , attentive , quick and efficient . Great value for money

Very good coffee, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Kids friendly with separate play area and huge toilet adopted for families. Highly recommended for families with small kids.

Extremely poor quality food and coffee I had a double espresso which was watery and had no flavour or strength I bought a ciabatta sandwich with Lounza, lounika and halloumi The lounza tasted like gammon and the loukanika was extremely salty and undercooked. I paid almost £ 10 ie £ 9.70 for the worst sandwich and coffee I've eaten. Extremely poor quality food and heavily overpriced

Very kind and friendly staff which helped us parse out the menu and checked in on us while we waited a few minutes for our order- lovely folks. The food was fine, definitely homemade and of ok quality (we had two sandwiches on sourdough and a croissant)- it just lacked cohesion and overall flavour, I wasn’t inspired to write home about it. The baked goods are not made in house but were also fine. The coffee started out pretty good but quickly became bitter as we walked- not sure what that was about. Oh, and we came for the advertised cake but there was no cake… Overall a nice atmosphere and very friendly staff.
